Hello
I have a rooted GT-I9000 SGS running 2.3.6. XT9 isn't working. When I go into keyboard settings it says it is enabled. It doesn't for both SMS's and browsing on the internet
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks

[Q] A problem with Skype on the Nexus one

Hi,
I have the skype app installed, I use it occasionally, and start it up manually when I need it.
Never had any problem with it, until recently -
I flashed my phone's ROM, and re-installed my apps, I'm not sure if I downloaded an update for the skype app or not.
Ever since I'm with the new setup, every time I try to dial someone, a window pops up and asks me if I want to use the default android dialer or 'SkypeOut', without any 'use this as default' checkbox...
this is extremely annoying!
anyone else experienced this problem?
I dont want/need any pop-ups from skype, especially not when I dial someone...
Ideas? Anyone?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Working data switch/toggles widget for Gingerbread ?

Extended controls doesn't seem to have updated for GB yet.
I need one that simply renames the data APN so i can still send MMS easily.
If i read the post correct then try Quick Settings .
Turn of mobile data APN and still sends mms .
jje
I have the same problem. Apparently this is a known gingerbread problem, but does someone have an idea to solve it? quicksettings and all the other programs don't seem to work. Whenever I turn on wifi it turns off mobile data, but when I turn wifi off it activates it automatically.. no way to turn it off permanently
The APN name switcher widgets don't work on 2.3.4.
I'm tired of clicking through the menus to get to the mobile data on/off setting!
There has to be a solution for 2.3.4.! HTC Roms have a switcher, so couldn't someone port that for everyone or do something similar?

Hi!
Have you tried setting another locale in your keyboard settings?
(Settings > Language & input > Your keyboard > Input Language)
Have you tried with another SMS application like Handcent SMS (from Android Market, free)?
Hope it might help

Not receiving SMS/MMS on stock messaging app.

Hi, first of all thanks for the help you could bring me. My problem is that since yesterday night I'm not receiving any kind of sms or mms on my stock messaging app. Today I was trying to solve it but with no success. So I installed Go SMS Pro and to my surprise it worked, I started receiving SMS and mms, but still the stock messaging app is not alerting of upcoming sms even though it's receiving them (I think that they share a common folder and that's why if in go SMS pro it works it'll show on stock messaging app, so in theory stock is not receiving but just showing, am I right?).
For now I'm using SMS go pro, but I'd like to know why this happened. I read something about accessing a hidden testing menu (*#*#4636#*#*) to change the smsc but that menu is not available on my phone (any idea why?) tried the code above and tried using those apps that serve as a shortcut. The screen goes dark as it's trying to access the testing menu and returns to home screen, in other apps (like missing shortcuts) it shows as unavailable. I even edited the hiddenmenu file on efs/carrier from OFF to ON and still the testing menu doesn't appear. I'm using my phone right now with mobile data, wifi works well and so do phone calls, no problems at all.
I'd really appreciate any ideas that could help me. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 running 4.3 firmware, I updated from 4.1.2 a couple of days ago but didn't have any problems, I could receive sms normally. The problem happened suddenly yesterday night.

there is an option in Messaging app...Auto Retrieve - check if enabled....
if other app work with no problem it's just an app related problem..not something else...check in app setting maybe something is not enabled...
a factory reset would make it work for sure....but is too much...

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, I don't want to factory reset since I've just did it to upgrade to 4.3. About the app settings, I've just tried all the possible combinations. I'm just using GO SMS Pro for now but MMS aren't downloading. Sigh.

try this: go to Settings->More->Application Manager-> Select "All" tab -> select Messaging-> Clear data + Clear cache...

[Q] Is there a way to disable SMS to MMS converion?

I've just rooted my phone (Locked BL). Before I did that, I was able to have more than 4 pages of characters but after rooting my phone, it started converting from SMS to MMS .
My phone unit is D5833 (originial firmware is HK Region).
I can't find anything in the messaging settings that would help me with this and not even the "language & keyboard" settings help.
Is there a module that would help my phone with this issue?
