[Q] Can I get a headphone jack/speaker assembly? - Moto X Q&A

My nephew poked a pin through the rear speaker grill of my brother's AT&T Moto X and totally killed the external audio. I'm looking to help him replace the headphone jack/speaker assembly, but the cheapest devices I can find on ebay (won't charge, cracked screen, bad ESN) from which I would rob this assembly are all going for well over $100.
I'm also having a heck of a time finding a spot for such replacement parts so I'm guessing they don't exist just yet. Anyone have any clues to track down such an assembly, or have a busted X you're looking to part out?

Replacing HD2 digitizer problems

It all started when I wanted to repair the digitizer of an broken HD2. I purchased an new one from abroad and soldered it to the LCD.
I checked it with a multi-meter and it was connected in the same way as the original part.
After reassembly though the digitizer wasn't responsive at all.
Is there something I missed? I cleaned the digitizers inside before placing it on the lcd, could that have ruined it?
Appreciate advise on this.
Thanks
you are not suppose to touch the inside of the digitizer. that could be one reason

You should have just gotten an LCD/Digitizer combo...........or it could be a cheap ripoff digitizer.

Speakerphone grill

Hey people, does anyone knows where to buy (online) little metal grill that fits on speakerphone for my HTC Legend. I try to search ebay but with no luck. Can anyone help me to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance...
You need to buy the main chassis for the phone for this part..if you need one i have a spare but its attatched to a broken LCD (and working digitizer)
AFAIK this does not come with chasis (just ordered one from htcrepairparts.com, still waiting) But I need one too Friend threw me a backpack with my phone inside and it hit a metal pipe just above the grill...display works, but there is a huge dent and the grill is all squiffy...
Also no luck buying it online...I'll try to repair it when the housing comes...
whats that "grill"??
It's the metal thing covering the earphone (see attachment).
BTW: I've tried to take my Legend apart and it looks like you have to remove the digitizer from AMOLED to remove this grill, so changing it would be problematic at best...I'm gonna let it be as it is
oh thats the grill
maybe u can use another stuff, not the original one?
See this site
I used it to change my grill which i got off ebay with the chassis
I was only able to dismantle my Legend thanks to this site...
If it comes with a new chasis, I'm gonna ghange it too, but the specs didn't indicate the grill...I'll just wait till it comes.
Right ive taken my "spare" legend apart... I have a speaker grill in Grade B Condition (has one little bulge where the LED is)

[Q] Captivate headphone jack replacement

So, this weekend when getting out of my car I dropped my phone directly facedown on my paved driveway...
I had a silicone body glove style case on it. No damage to the screen at all, but the next day I tried to listen to some music with my earbuds and it just played from the phone speaker instead.
So I'm guessing my headphone jack broke from the impact. I took my phone apart following an XDA thread and couldn't see any apparent damage, must be damaged internally in the component.
Anyone ever replaced their headphone jacks?
I found this website that sells replacement parts, but it comes with the earpiece speaker as well for some reason... I guess it is difficult to just replace the headphone jack.
RepairsUniverse
Reputable website? Anyone used them? I checked Reseller Ratings and some people complained about terrible service, wrong parts sent etc... But the majority were good. Just wanted to see if anyone on XDA has ever dealt with them.
that happened to me before i rooted so i just used my warrenty and they replaced it. i dont know why there will be a earpiece speaker

Where can I order GENUINE HTC parts?

Hi all!
I bought a HTC One M7 with a cracked screen dirt cheap from a friend and am hoping to repair it myself and I've had a look around the q&a forums but anyone that references to genuine or "OG" HTC parts doesn't specify where you can actually order them from, I'd be looking for both speakers, lcd screen, digitizer and front speaker covers but am pretty unsure of which parts are actually legitimate on the internet.
Any help guys?
TIA

Screen repair here, fairly cheap and apparently 100% genuine, saves you a lot of hassle, i.e, breaking it apart and re-sealing it, plus the possibility of damaging other parts, also ring them and ask if they can replace the other parts for you.

if not then the speakers are here, cheap as chips, you could always ask the LCD company, if you send the speakers with the phone, if they wouldn't mind changing them at the same time, it would take them 2 mins whilst they have it apart.

for the covers, depends on colour, but heres an idea:

All for less than £100, cant really beat that for the whole front end of the phone.
If you are going to replace the screen might I suggest you order an entire front housing with digitizer and screen and back housing. You will destroy your phones body when you open it. Order those parts and follow the complete breakdown and reassembly videos on YouTube. They are all good.
Is it hard to change just back cover?

Personally I wouldn't take the risk of opening it all up myself, inside is extremely fragile and the motherboard connections for instance is as easy to rip in half as a piece of cloth, I destroyed a HTC Desire HD whilst trying to change the LCD and Digitalizer and the back of that was screwed on, the HTC One series is 10 times harder to open up.

N900A Motherboard Swap Question

Hi all,
I was looking to replace a frame assembly w/ the LCD and digitizer on my phone as the LCD ended up getting a line of dead pixels. I originally ordered a replacement and it overheated my phone and didn't work properly as it wasn't OEM. Buying a brand new OEM assembly costs more than the phone is worth, so I figured I would buy another used phone and do the replacement that way. One of the phones I was looking at is Aaron Center locked, but great condition otherwise and the identical model. I'm thinking that the lock only applies to that board, so would swapping my current board to that phone's assembly work out? Thanks.
The display has nothing to do with network locks, only the motherboard and its firmware.
