[Q] Rooting Xperia Z (C6602) 10.4.1.B.0.101 ? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys,
I just received my sony Z from Sony Service center and they updated my phone to the original 10.4.B.0.569 and ofcourse I lost root,CWM and all else.
I connected my phone to the Sony Companion and it updated to stock 10.4.1.B.0.101, now how do I root it and install the cwm aswell?
help will be much appreciated.

First, there is no requirement for creating another thread for this question.
Second, there is no direct root as of now for 4.3. You need to flash pre-rooted system to keep your root.

apologies for creating another thread, and thanks for the reply.
so in other words downgrade to a .67 for example and root then upgrade either to stock new update or install a custom rom with the update right? and it will keep root and recovery?

Downgrade, yea. But need to flash the pre-rooted system partition, which will preserve recovery and root.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

Downgrade to 4.2, root, upgrade via cwm to 4.3 prerooted rom that includes recovery and su fixes and you are done.

Yeah. But doom kernel requires to unlock BL , which is a taboo for me lol, i just tried downgrade then root then cwm then flash room via recovery and apply su fix then flash recovery then flash 101 kernel and it worked

@ ahassouna, How did you manage to downgrade? I tried to flash .67 from the flashtool and then my phone just keeps restarting. I did wipe the apps log, cache & data. Still no luck. Could you let me know any other way how you could achieve this?

I had a bootloop too when downgraded from 4.3 to 4.2 that i solved by doing a wipe data when flashing the 4.2 rom. I think you have to do a fresh install when you downgrade in order to avoid bootloops

Used the Flashtool to downgrade. I was on 4.3 .569 firmware then simply flashed .67 firmware using flashtool. No luck

Did you choose to wipe data? Its important to do that since you are downgrading from higher Android version.
Try a different region just to ensure that there is no issues with the FTF. Make sure the MD5 is the same after you download.

Ok sorry guys didnt reply earlier.
Here is what i did
1- upgraded to 101
2- used flash tool and flashed the .67 stock on a clean stock 101 with wiped data...etc.
3- rooted and installed cwm dual recovery and booted device
4- flashed exsitenz v6 and its important not to boot rom just shut down from recovery
5- while shut down, flash the 101 kernel (stock kernel as am on LB) then boot.
Evweything is working great now.

i downgrade with flashtool
dudes, I did the downgrade (4.3 > 4.2) using flashtool, you have to find&download C6602_10.3.1.A.2.67_India Generic.ftf, and it's done...:good:
btw you can root 4.2.2 using kingo andorid root, with lb, and later wait for ota (twice, until .101), it's pretty easy but you need some patience

[Q] Read Urgent Please

If i go to recovery and factory reset with the root already on my phone will it brick?
urgent please read.... as well!
you'll get brick if and only if your using a stock ICS kernel.
now, If your using a safe one(e.g SpeedMod, Hydra and etc).. then your good to go with the factory reset in recovery.
What will happen
Im using stock ics room , and i want to factory reset my phone so that i t has none of my old files. If i flash it with stock firmware what will happen?
Either go back to gingerbread and factory reset or flash a sage kernel and do it
Now if you want a brick that's another story

Yes flash gingerbread rom, you may face force closing after flashing gb rom , not to worry and reboot in to recovery and wipe cache and data
Your device will Unroot and erase all your files from phone (still internal sdcard card data will be there, if you want to erase that too then factory reset with selecting usb storage erase optiin)

Yes, your device is not bricked.
Security notice is normal in latest ROM, it usually appears if you have added sync account. But have nothing to worry for that (indeed I am also having it)

I remember entropy have said once, it may be probably safe. But you can't say it completely safe. and when there is even rare chance to brick, why we should chance when alternate is available.

[Solved] system.img for xperia v

Is it possible to make a system image of the xperia v jb firmware for flashing in bootloader? I tried flashing via flashtool but the phone cannot stay in flash mode. I also tried flashing kernel then installing zip in recovery but i'll just boot into a image with an exclamation mark with a phone beside it. I'm currently on cm10.1 but i really want to go back to stock sony jb. If it is not possible to make img then is there any other way to put stock back into the phone?
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
Really? No one knows?
Sent from my Xperia V using xda app-developers app
I am wondering why your phone wouldn't stay in flash mode.
Anyway, try to install using Supersport ROM.
Just to make sure: do you actually see an image which shows a triangle with a spanner and screwdriver in it? If so, then you might have to wait for a couple of hours for it to go away. I left it overnight and my battery monitoring widget shows that my V was down for a couple of hours, before booting up and going to the home screen.
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
You have to make a .ftf file and flash it.

How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
Thanks, I'll try when in have time to risk the phone. Anyway its not the sign youre talking about. Mines just an exclamation mark beside a phone. Fyi if it might help I was trying to flash the stock ftf when flash tool on mac crashed. I suspect a corruption in some partition used by the stock ROM as I can use any custom ROM but not stock based ROMs. Any ideas?

Ahh, no
But it will download the latest FW for you and then you can create a FTF file using the instructions from the all in one thread, then flash that.
If you have issues with flashmode then you mus wait for flashtool to tell you to go into flashmode first.
Also, you can flash a stock based rom from the dev section to go back to stock.

Yes, but it should work..can you try it again and if it fails can you post the log output from flashtool so we can see the error.
Also, which FTF file are you trying to flash, please provide the link.
Re: [Q] system.img for xperia v
Flashing the boot works, flashing the ROM in recovery works, but booting doesn't. It'll boot to the Sony boot screen with the 'Sony' word on it, then it'll go into the screen with an image of a phone and an exclamation mark. Then it'll reboot and do the same thing and so on. And the ftf is the stock jb ftf from the dev forum
Sent from my Xperia V using xda app-developers app
OK, which stock ftf are you flashing? Please provide the link. I want to know this because I find any ftf files in the dev section for the V.

Are you using a Odex rom?
Looking at the MJA Hotspot Hack. No, This update will disable that. If you use the tiny update zip and not the full ROM. I can not say how stable this will be with a modified services.jar/services.odex. Since the tiny update is expecting the files to be completely stock to apply the patches.
Right now I'm stock, rooted MJA

Both the tiny update and the full rom will disable the hack? I Downloaded the full rom but probably will not flash it if I lose the hack. Thanks for your help.

Very strange, do you have a logcat of the attempted flash?
Also, I updated the link for the update.zip, Try it now. People were talking about in the MK2 general thread, it needs to be named update.zip for some reason.
so after reading the OP I take it this won't work if I'm on mf9?
is it worth trying?
I'm on mf9.. cm11..

You can use the ROM file. But don't use the update.zip

Same problem here. I know when I followed the instructions to update to MJA without bootloader i kept the MF9 modem because i haven't been able to get to a computer to apply it, could that be the issue or would i need the full MJA Bootloader and Modem to get this to stick?

No root available yet. A search would have told you that.
Please remember to use the search function or Google before posting questions.

If you took the OTA and are now on official kitkat (NC2), then as of now, there is no way for you to root. you would have had to have had root on jelly bean, then flash a pre-rooted kitkat custom rom in order to acheive kitkat root. furthermore, we are also currently blocked from downgrading back to JB either. So all you can do is wait a few days or so until a new developement is made
Thanks I appreciate your help

I don't understand why the ATT N3 Kitkat is so hard to root, because it is a niche so no Dev are willing to work on it? S5 and Z2 are not on the market yet, they have been rooted.
This thread is so deceiving. Every time I go pass it I say to myself. We got root already. Lol ?

I have the Note 3 N900A on NC2 and 4.4.2. Is there any way to downgrade to 4.3 again and root it using Klingo? Or, is there a stock ATT 4.3 ROM that can be flashed using Odin?

Sorry, I'm a nooblet. I guess we just have to wait. I can always use turn off the apps that it allows and use Nova launcher to hide the rest.
Just to confirm, but ALL versions of Jelly Bean for the ATT Note 3 are rootable? Every single last one of them, until we hit KK?

Thanks. I've been a member of this forum for a year and change but this is my first time posting. I just bought the Note3 and it came preloaded with KitKat 4.4.2 on ATT N900A. I previously had the S3 rooted and running Hyperdrive ROM for a while. Just a question, is there timetable as to when the root will be released by the Dev team? Thanks in advance.

I've been gone for a bit due to illness and such, but was able to get my N990A rooted with Towelroot. I haven't been able to successfully find an explanation concerning a process for installing a custom recovery and ROM yet, though. I seen to search all through the forums here, but there are so many threads that I'm not sure which one to rely on for my needs. Because of the locked bootloader on this phone, is it still not possible to install a custom recovery and a custom ROM? If so, will someone please point me in the right direction so that I can figure out how to do it? I've only ever used TWRP and CWR. I've read about safestrap (I think it was), but I don't know anything about it. Sorry for the long post, but I'm a real newbie at this and want to learn everything I can. Help a n00b out, please?

Right now safe strap is all we have. YouTube it is probably your best bet.
Installing it is simply installing an apk
