I want to buy this phone and have some questions
1 - does it have multiwindow like 9500?
2 - does it have modes of camera like 9500 for exampls drama shot , slow and fast motion?
3 - does it have sensors for air view , smart pause and etc...
4 - does it have voice command?for answer call , capture image amd .....
5 - does it have 4.3 official rom?
6 - why developers are not very active for thia phone like 9500 and 9505?
7 - does it have "increase touch sensitivity?
I assume you're looking to get the i9295 (international) and not the i537 (AT&T), so I'll try to answer these:

It does have multi-window, the firmware and interface is almost exactly like the i9500.

The camera has several modes including Aqua Mode where you can take a picture by pressing the volume button. However it does not have slow or fast motion. The camera on the i9295 is different than the one on the i9500. The S4 Active has an 8MP camera while the regular S4 has a 13MP camera. People have asked about porting the slow/fast motion to this phone, but so far nothing.

Part of the problem is the way Samsung released this phone. They released it about 6 months after they released the regular S4, so everybody who wanted a new phone got the S4 and when the S4 Active came out there were not enough changes and it wasn't marketed in a way that people were willing to buy a new phone so quickly. Therefore, the S4 Active didn't sell nearly the numbers that the S4 did. Secondly, they marketed it as a waterproof phone and if you look through the forums you'll see that it's not waterproof, but water-resistent. A lot of people ended up destroying their phones by doing exactly what Samsung did in the commercials. Samsung has offered a 1-time replacement due to water damage, but all of these claims caused them to stop marketing the phone. It seems that Samsung has really just "forgotten" about this phone since it has a small userbase. I think they're just hoping it will go away with all the problems they've had.
Another reason is the i537 (AT&T) has a locked bootloader so development has really been stalled, really on all AT&T and Verizon Samsung phones that have a locked bootloader. That said there are ways you can use ROMs developed for the regular S4 on the S4 Active. So although there's not much development in the S4 Active forums you can use ROMs meant for the regular S4 so there is actually a lot of choice.

I really like this phone, particularly the hard keys at the bottom. I too wish there was more development but unfortunately it just didn't sell that well. I haven't had any problems with it and I think the LCD screen looks much better than the Amoled on the regular S4, particularly in direct sunlight. Hopefully this helps.

LCD and Amoled are fundamentally different. For an LCD screen the entire screen turns on in order to show colors and blacks. With Amoled, only colored pixels turn on, if a pixel is supposed to be black it does not turn on and therefore does not draw power. This is how the Moto X is able to show those active notifications without killing your battery. As far as which is better or worse, it really is a matter of personal preference. You can read up more on LCD vs Amoled, there are tons of articles about it, but what I've come to find is that it's really just preference.

Yeah, you should be able to if you flash a i9295 kernel afterwards. There are a couple people you specifically want to ask about this since I have an i537 and cannot flash kernels. Ask @ohwarumbloss and @spegelius. They have been working on porting ROMs and would know exactly what ROMs work on the i9295 and which don't. I'm 99% sure you can use i9500, but you should make sure before you make your decision.

So this is how the phone has been advertised, and I have personally used mine in the shower to listen to music without any problems. There are reports of people taking their phone in the pool and getting water damage. There are also people who have taken pictures in the pool and have not had any problems. For more on the water damage issue take a look at this thread, it'll give you both sides of the story.
A lot of the water issues are user error. Either the charging port cover was damaged or not seated properly or the phone back was not properly installed. My experience with the water-resistency has been incredible (you can read about it in one of the threads in General). I am disappointed that there isn't more development for the i537, but I'm rooted and the phone does all I want it to, so I'm happy...for now.

Hello,
As the tittle already says, currently I am considering buying the Note and selling my S2. Im not a noob and consider myself as a power user. I like to tweak the sh*t out of my phone. Im currently running cyanogenmod on S2 with syiah and this is why I am writing this. I am aware that the Note is almost the same hardware as S2 and I am wondering about few things:
Is cyanogenmod 7/9 coming to the Note ?
What do you think, will developers support the note ? I mean, the S2 section is overflowing with roms, kernels etc, I wonder if there are any kernels with cpu undervolting, gpu undervolting/clocking etc.
The screen, ive seen some rumours that it uses the old amoled tech with fewer subpixels from S1, I didnt like that on S1, is that true ?
Im sorry to bother you, these are just a few questions I am having in my head before going to the store I love my S2, I dont mind the big screen, actually its the reason I want to upgrade... I would be very grateful for any replies, I am sure it will help few other undecided people too
Thanks for reading
I wouldn't buy the Note instead of your SII. It's too little of an upgrade for the $$$.
Unless the screen means everything to you (yes, it's beautiful).
CyanogenMod isn't released for the Note yet, but it probably will be pretty soon. Same goes for stock Ice Cream Sandwich.
i wasnt blown away when i upgraded from sgs2 to the note but still if u absolutely want a bigger screen than yeah go for it u wont be dissapointed in that respect.
Same as the rest of the comments. But, take into consideration that the custom launchers are not yet optimized for the Note, at least most of them. You'll need to wait for some upgrades.
The screen and resolution are...
My note will be here tomorrow, you guys are bumming me out. I have a i9100 now and thought the notes screen would be a big improvement.
The Note's screen IS a big improvement! It makes the phone. It does use the pentile subpixel layout, but the resolution is high enough and they've optimized the software to where it's the best screen you can currently buy in a mobile device. In My Humble Opinion. I literally haven't touched my tablet since the day my note arrived in the mail. I came from the GSII, also, and things like web browsing are no contest superior on the Note.

yes, CM7 and 9 are being worked on.
When will they be done? Who knows.
Will developers support it? Who can tell? We have people doing ROMS already.
I'm sure you are aware that in this first gen set of kernels, the Note will be laggier than your S2. I'd suggest also browsing through the FAQ in my sig for a lot more info.
- Frank
Go for it. I went from the S2 (via a detour to the GN) to the Note and love it. My advice is think about what you want it for. it if's video and web browsing then go for it, if its more as a phone and making loads of calls then maybe not.
Also i'm seeing much better battery life with my usage when compared to the S2.

like every new popular device, it takes time for the devs to get it & create a ROM for it.
There are some differences between the S2 and the Note... u can`t use the same Kernel and ROM. I talked to one Developer and in his opinion there will be no C 7 for Note... they´re still working on a ICS-ROM . At this time there are only a few C-ROM´s for the Note. They are almost buggy... If u come from Silya Kernel u will miss the very good performance of this Kernel and also the features ( call recording, reboot,...)
BTW u have the opinion to flash this features via CWM an mods to the Note..

Damn, thats a VERY cheap move from samsung on such an expensive handset. I was about to order the handset today, but I will go to the shop to check out the screen more extensively. I hated it on S1. And I sure will hate it on note... Why do they do this, its pretty much FAKE HD screen, because the number of subpixels is lower than on sub-HD S2 screen...
Gonna check it out tommorow and I will decide.

By all means do check it out because of course it's a fair bit of money to drop on a new toy, but the screen density makes up for that very issue you're concerned about.
I came from a GSII and I have a mate who owns a Captivate. The difference between the two screens are immediately visible. Comparing my Note's screen to the GSII is however, a matter left to microscopes. Chances are you wont have the Note held 6 inches or less away from your face, which is where it just starts to become noticeable and that's even if you're looking for it.
Remember, the Galaxy Nexus and Droid RAZR both have (currently) higher-than-usual resolution screens using pentile SAMOLED displays. It's still slightly visible on the RAZR, but not so on the Nexus. It really truly is a great display.
As a side note, I took a bite ordering mine without ever handling one before, and I'm completely satisfied.
I sold my sgs2 in fqvour of a galaxy note, and can never go back. the sgs2 is smoother, the note has a lot of hiccups. but I can't use a regular phone anymore, everything is just to tiny.
Also, the biggest advantage besides the screen is the batterylife, it is the first phone that will last the whole day, the sgs2 was horrible in this departement!
so basically; better screen, better batterylife... but less smooth (still very fast though).
This is my first android phone, came from an iPhone 3gs, so no real comparison. I do have a few friends with the SGS2.
I agree with all the posts above. The screen is awesome, and even the Nexus seems small compared. I personally prefer having hardware buttons as further increases real-estate. Also agree with some of the lag issues, specifically with browser use. Have played around with the Nexus and ICS has some pretty significant improvements regarding speed and smoothness and i have no doubt that these will be passed down to the Note.
At the moment, this phone can,t be beaten IMHO

No, for the following reasons:
My phone's already water resistant and dust resistant.
I already have a 3000mah (zero lemon) battery (200mah larger than S5).
I don't want a finger scanner or heart rate sensor.
While the processing power would be nice, my phone (with CM10.2 and other tweaks) already benches higher on AnTuTu than any other devices average (except phablets). Should last me a while.
While I would really like a better camera, I usually have a DSLR on me anyway, and this wasn't my main concern last time either.
No real design changes?
Is there any other hardware changes at all?
I will miss the updates and wider support that it would achieve though, but I'm willing to wait for a Note 4 for that.

S5 is like an inch upgrade of S4 Active, of course, with all the high end AMOLED, camera MP.. Basically that's it. S4 is cheaper and works well, especially coupled with some nice custom roms. BTW.. the 3000mah battery, the brand name is zero lemon??? Samsung doesn't have a larger capacity battery for S4 active. :crying:

Yes, the brand name is Zerolemon
Maybe?
The lack of development for this phone hampers it. My old SGS3 was better. It still works, but when it fell a year ago, it was cheaper to upgrade then to get the screen replaced.
I like the active, but the recent upgrade has broken more things than it fixed. I miss having changing out roms and being able to customize.

After the appalling support the S4A has received from Samsung I will be changing to a Google nexus device or HTC. If it weren't for the likes of Spelgelius / Mythi / LeJay I'd be throwing the active in a deep dark river....
I'm lucky in that I get an upgrade every 8 months or so by passing down my phone to my lad, who then passes his to my wife.... Everyone gets a NEW phone... just mines the newest!!

Are you talking support accessory-wise? I mean, it shares many things with the s4 like the battery, and the software just upgraded to 4.4.2, so I'm not sure how that is appalling. The only one "official" accessory I wanted to see was a wireless charging back. Le sigh.
I've sent my S4a off to Samsung warranty repair twice now since last June. I purchased the phone the first day it came out at ATT. I also put it on T-Mobile the first day it came out.
Twice now I've had to send mine off to Samsung for the back button that stops working. First they gave me a new replacement phone, and recently they replaced everything but the main circuit board (new screen, bezel, buttons, charge port, etc).
I have less than 2 months left of warranty, so I'm not sure what I'm doing past June. Probably getting an S5 (AKA = S4 Active version 2.0).
I will NOT own this S4 Active without a warranty, it's proven to be a POS.
I have a question, (I'm sort of a noob) but, I upgraded to Stock 4.4.2 TW XXUCUNE5 and I want to get the custom rom Ressurection Remix 4.4.2, will this brick my device?

Ressurection Remix rom do not officially support S4 Active.
See resurrectionremix.com under list of Devices.
A correct installation of a supported custom rom for your device will not brick your device.
Forcing or installing a custom rom that is not supported for your device can brick your phone.
Since you upgraded to stock 4.4.2 you have now when in download mode Knox flag 0x0.
Any installation of a custom rom on your device will set the Knox flag to 0x1 and is irreversible meaning warranty will be void.
I bought mine off ebay, and tbh, I thought I was getting a regular S4. I'm kind of surprised at the lack of support for this phone too for as much as they hyped it as being super awesome. I do like it, though I'd rather have the regular S4. What I *really* want is to be able to run BeanStalk on it (it runs on the other S4 Active, not sure what the distinction is), but I'm holding on to this phone until it dies, hoping to buy a PhoneBloks style phone next.

The i537, which you have has a locked bootloader and the i9295 does not. What this means is that the bootloader with verify the signature of every zip file that you try to flash, the i9295 does not have this restriction. This means that they are able to flash custom kernels and custom recovery while us on the i537's cannot.
The i537 can flash custom ROMs that are based on the TouchWiz kernel through SafeStrap, however BeanStalk uses a custom kernel which means it cannot be installed you can flash it through SafeStrap and the phone will not boot. The ROM will be looking for a custom kernel and when it cannot find it, it will bootloop.

Current state of custom ROMs on S4 Active?
Hello,
I have an AT&T S4 Active, SGH-I537. I have been able to root it, but haven't gone on to put on a custom ROM because the last I heard, the jackwagons at AT&T locked the phone down. But it looks like it is possible to do this now, but I am not sure because the forum posts are not clear. Is this possible?
If so, I am looking for something very fast, light and clean and for all the hardware to work. Is this available?
Thanks for any help!
there´s a trady already or i can post here?

I did two weeks time, true research, and ended up selecting S5 G900F a model of 2014.
Now, how does it feel that your phone has non replaceable battery and in two years time it will be recycled material?

SM-G903F S5 Neo is worse than the original 900F in every aspect. Slower CPU (although a tiny bit faster when and if all cores run simultaneously), slower GPU. No fingerprint, no USB 3.0, no IR blaster. Worse camera, with supposedly better aperture but photos turn out worse. Very limited dev support so you only got like three roms to choose from. I wouldn't ever recommend it. If you're buying a new phone get the original S5.

Totally agree.
People with technical background by them researching basic product specifications, they can spot the differences.
But young consumers they should be worried of how it is possible: S5 Neo to be cheaper than old S5 (half price or more) and even this to be in the same class?
Either way, there is no software yet, this turning you in to a mature consumer over night.
I'm coming from a nexus 4, is this phone good enough for the 2016? also how good is the fingerprint scanner? i want this phone for the screen resolution and the size. can anybody tell me if this phone still hangs well in 2016. i want this phone to be my daily driver until at least 2017.

Just got mine two days ago. It works well for everything. But I don't know how it does for gaming since I don't game. Also the fingerprint scanner is the older style where you have to swipe. So if that don't bother you then you're good. This is my daily phone. Got it put a screen protector on it and a uag and I'm set

at least is has a fingerprint scanner. and how good is the screen display?
Still the best phone on the market.
I got mine last year shortly after the SGS6 series was released and after the specs of the Note 5 were announced. I'm perfectly happy with my Note 4 and will probably be using it as my daily driver for a good few years to come.

Not sure if the best overall but definitely the best phone with user replaceable battery. ****ty oldschool Lagsung software though.

That's a hard one for me to answer. To me it looks like any other screen (because I keep the brightness down to save battery) But! when I turn the brightness up, Wait it still looks the same lol. My guess is I'm just not taking advantage of the quad HD display. An HD game may change that. Please wait while I download an HD game and test it with brightness up. Still waiting for 500mb download. We appreciate your patience, The next available representative will be with you shortly...... OK, Download and test complete. Just looks like a normal HD screen to me. The reason I decided on the note 4 over any other newer note was that the verizon version has svlte. I don't know about other carriers. The galaxy s5 also has svlte. It just means that you can make calls and use data at the same time when you're not on wifi. Am I happy with my recent purchase? Yes I am. The only things I don't like? I wish it were the size of the s5,s6,s7... I have small hands. But I just had to have the note features. Hey samsung if you're listening MAKE A NOTE THAT'S THE SAME SIZE AS THE GALAXY S SERIES. And the second thing, I came from the LG G4 to this so it had a low light camera that I really liked. The note 7 is the one you'd have to get if you want that. OK back to this now.
So lets get to the specs, How is the note 4 better than the nexus 4?
1. note 4 is bigger if that's what you like
2. has the s-pen
3. almost double resolution
4. an extra gig of ram
5.Higher pixels per inch
6. Better camera with slow motion, fast motion, Smooth motion aka 60fps which looks amazingly clear.
7. faster processor
8.faster GPU
9.more storage space
And I'm sure their is more. But with that said if you're looking for something a little more flashy, You might consider the Galaxy note edge. It's the exact same phone as the note 4. Except it has an independent display on the edge of the phone (not like the s6 and s7 edge.) BUT!!! one downfall to the phone is that it does NOT have svlte. But then again that is on the verizon version. I don't know about other carriers etc. But yeah I'm happy with my note 4 and I think you will be too as long as you have big enough hands to handle it.

Stock DPI is a problem. Its the last Samsung phone with really ****ty old school touchwiz. Its also not gonna get Nougat. If you are willing (or want) to go custom ROM its probably still one of the best phones you can get for the money.

Can I ask what is wrong with the stock DPI? Is that more of a personal preference? As far as the touchwiz I agree some things I don't like about it. But nothing that I can't and haven't already masked with a launcher. Also according to this website the note 4 will be getting nougat http://www.rootupdate.com/2016/07/Name-of-samsung-devices-upgrading-to-nougat-70.html
Aside from that I personally don't think anything in nougat has caught my interest unless it brings specific updates to the note series rather than just a different name with a couple new broad spectrum features that work for any device running it.
EDIT: after reading more on that site they mention down in the comments that note 4 will be had through cm14. So I posted a comment and am waiting for the writer of the site to respond. Like I was saying though I'm not feeling like I'm missing out on nougat since it doesn't seem like it offers much.

It's easy to change the launcher!
That being said, absolutely love my N910c.
Blazing fast with everything I do and ridiculously long battery life.
Love that it plays games as smooth as the iPhone.
Can't say that about other androids even some of the top 2016 models
So is there any other phone you guys recommend than the note 4? maybe the oneplus 2?

Performance wise, it can still compete with the newest phones on the market and no phone can match it's features. This will likely be the last samsung devise truly targeted at power-users.
Only other devices I would consider if I had to replace would be nexus 6p or pixel.

No, but OnePlus 3 is, and it is not expensive at all. If you want expensive device and better than Note 4 from almost every angle except display then go for HTC 10.

No. I would even argue that 3 isn't clearly "better." What n4 has over 3 are following:
Spen + software utility
Expandable storage
camera (maybe)
Higher resolution
Ir blaster
Removable battery
Lower price
That being said, all this is relative to your own use and expectations from a device. If some or all the things listed above are not important than the oneplus 3 (and several other phones for that matter) may be a better choice for you.
For my use there are currently no worthy compromises. Add that to the fact that performance improvements (outside benchmarking apps) are negligible.

Please see my vid talking about exactly this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHQr1zC3Um8 also have plenty of note 4 vids.
Why Samsung didn't add to us the always on display (AOD) in the Nougat update 7.0 despite we have a big battery and this is an software feature not hardware they said that the s6 will not include it because of it's small battery what about our 3000 battery they don't want to give us anything they want the 2017 mobiles like s7 and even the 2017 midrangers to get it while the note 5 users NO!!!! This is not fair at all I mean even if no one will use it because of the battery draining at least keep the feature and leave the option for the user to use it or not I was a big fan of Samsung now I am starting to change my opinion about it...note 5 they are trying to make it look as if it is an old rusty phone

Well yeah. But my note 5 never had a waranty. It was pieced together from 3 diffrent ones.
I assume most people on here are rooted. With custom roms.

My friend I had s3 and note 2 before and I was rooting and using custom roms because they was having no more software development from Samsung now as you can see there is an updates still going on but I am talking about the greedy and selfish way of thinking and the policy the company uses tell me why don't they update all the devices equally our phone was pricey and until now it still worth a couple hundreds why they are thrown like dumb with a useless update no camera and aod from s7 why then they rolled the update I will never use Samsung mobiles again selfish company
What you didn't realise is that the note 5's display is not hard coated so can cause burn in very easily
Hence they are not adding aod but added every other feature from s7 to note 5
Even video enhancer was removed because the display is not built for that stress

I use the aod every night. On low briteness and no burn in on mine.
In my opin. All samsungs are susceptabal to burn in its a amoled thing. The display moves every couple of min. And does great. My s7 also expierienced some burn in. Not related to aod. But the status bar.
Id show pics but i got rid of it for that reason and no ir port. Kinda upset me that a brandnew device had screenburn worse than my old note 5.
I also would like to see the soirce of this statement
