Okay so im new to all this, hello!
i recently got the xperia z1, i wont deny its a great phone but it lacks so much features my galaxy note 3 had in terms of software,
i just wanted to know if someone here can give me links to the following:
Rooting the phone?
a Rom which flashes the galaxy note 3 software onto the xperia z1 or the latest stock android software?
or anything else which they would recommend doing...
i really dont like the features that sony have not included and i am not really happy with the change but i really like the phone itself so if there
is a way to have the best of both please help me out here, ps i am really new to this so please link me tutorials or something so i dont brick my phone.
thanks!
To Root your phone you have to use this method. there is no other way, just to downgrade to .534 FW provided by NUT, Root with Bin4ar Application then update with the provided instructions to .290. Then where you have .290 rooted follow this guide to update to .136.
Hot To Guide Tutorial Video is on the first link.
I highly doubt anyone has ported the whole note rom for xperia. What features are missing?

I think it will never be ported a whole system but some features can be. At the moment no body think this is so necessary so we don't have it.

Downgrade your firmware with flashtool then root. Then there are a few ways to upgrade again without losing root. You really should read and search this forum... this topic has been discussed here more than basically anything else on the Z1 threads.

Yu don't need one.
Just flash ANY .534 FW and exclude baseband, root, upgrade OTA
First , I am no noob her as you can see in my signature.

I am not new to Xperia as I had x10, Neo V, Ray and TL. I know how to use flash tool and know my way around with my trusty Root Explorer.
I recently bought Z1 6906 - It was originally Bell Canada but I am using it on AT&T.
Phone runs JB 4.2.2 - build 14.1.G.1.158.
I read lots of forums and all of them say something slightly different, depending on Z1 model and build.
All I need is simple set of instructions on how to end up with rooted Z1 6906 running android 4.4.2.
I read that you can root JB with VROOT but I am vary of Chinese superuser apps and stuff that they put on my phone during the root process.
I do not need bootloader unlocked as I do not plan flashing custom ROMs, Kernels etc... and all flashable tweaks can be applied via Root Explorer and some elbow grease.
So - what is least painful way to root and upgrade to KitKat and preserve root - keeping stock ROM.
I would like to have (preferably unbranded firmware) but I can live with Bell one and remove junk myself.
I appreciate all the help .
And please don't answer with "Search is your best friend" because I am fully aware of that - I post ONLY if I feel really stuck and need help

just look in the development section, there are plenty of threads explain how to do this. Or there is a method in my signature, its slightly outdated (By about a week) there are quicker methods now, they are easy to search for.

Ive recently bought a Sony Xperia Z C6603, it came with 4.2, and updated to 4.3, a month ago I updated to 4.4.4 kitkat, Id like to know how to root it since I had samsung S2 before it and rooted it, and there are some apps I really miss with root. The problem is that video tutorials and written ones talk about 4.2, so is it the same with kitkat? Also I really like the stock sony look so I dont want to flash a new rom or anything, if its the same, a good video tutorial with links would be great, sorry Im pretty noob with android rooting.
How to root 10.5.1.A.0.283 / 10.5.1.A.0.292
If you have trouble with any of the steps, then post in the thread and I'll try to assist.

Yes. That's why I linked you to it!
It's the only way to root 4.4.4 without unlocking your bootloader.

You might like to consider looking at this thread..

Also if you are new try to avoid unlocking the bootloader..
If you decide to unlock it first thing to do is to take backup of ta before unlocking..
So for time being i suggest playing with roms for locked bootloader as they are easy to unbrick and also no warranty is void..
