Q updated from 4.2.2 to 4.3 backup problem SMS - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I used the built in backup and restore application for backing up my SMS and such... And after update I can't use the backup.. I thought this was what it was meant for...
Is there any way to restore the old file.. Using the. 4.2.2 application on 4.3 perhaps.?
Thanks in advance

U cant restore 4.2.2 data on 4.3. For getting your data back you need to downgrade 4.2.2 nd then restore your apps, contact etc nd then update to 4.3 via ota

I might have deleted something from system/app, if I do a factory reset and retry will it work?
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
Nope...im in the same boat...
They told me you have to reinstall the missing system apps...
At the moment im searching for the stock at&t boot logo....any ideas?
You are rooted obviously
1. Backup apps with Titanium Backup
2. Flash Stock ICS with RSD
3. Root again and restore apps
4. Update to JB
I will do the same

Only restore apps and data. Restoring system data can mess you up. There are some system data, the ones with the titanium icons, that work ok. They are messaging, wireless, etc. Have Google back up and restore your phone and contacts.

what's the best way to upgrade it ? I'm on deodexed with root. I've plenty of apps and TB doesn't save its backup tar in external storage. can I flash ftf without clearing cache ?

You can flash .244 with flashtool without wiping data just exclude wipe data.
You will have to re-root the phone again.
Ps: you can copy titanium backup folder and files to your pc and do a full wipe than copy it back and restore

Install the xperia z1 launcher you can find it in themes/apps section its great no lags whatsoever

Use Helium (Carbon) or titanium backup to backup your apps.
Settings are also saved?

make a backup atleast before you try if you are concerned
i went from the 4.1.2 tmobile branded to .67
it seems to have broken the tethering portion of settings (i didn't wipe data)
probably going to do a fresh flash to .67 before 4.3 or 4.4 comes out.
I think I will wait for the newer android update, I know there was a flashing method to keep your apps and settings. I got my backup so try it later when 4.3 or 4.4 is released.
Thanks for the quick replies!
