[Q] Stock vs Custom ROM (SPEED DIFFERENCES) - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I know this might be a dumb question but can someone tell me which type of ROM is better at speed (playing games with less or no lags, system speed and so on). I'm currently running DModV6 and am quite happy with it, but was just wondering if going back to the latest stock 4.1.2 ROM will give better user experience (a.k.a. faster phone).
P.S. I'm wondering 'cause when I watch videos of the S3 Mini playing heavy games, they don't lag at all, but when I play them, they do lag
Thanks for reading/helping and have a nice evening !

[Q] What is the best rom for gaming?

Got any recommendations?
Gingerbread rom seems to be the best but the download link is down
First of all: STOP DOUBLE POSTING!!! you created a second thread here. ONE is enough.
The Hardware of X1 is not very good for gaming, and most of the games are laggy, maybe it is caused by the drivers used in Android, because Android is still in development for X1, or the X1 is going to its limits.
You can find Gingerbread here.
Wait is it same as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895054
Because I am going for the high fps and long battery time.
no its not the same, you can try if fps and batterie life is the same, in my opinion cwm is faster than the ext2 version
You are stating it is faster and that's all I need, thank you.
Do I really clockworkmod for this mod?
Or is optional for recovery?

[Q] Which is my best option for having a good game device?

Hi guys, I recently got a brand new galaxy s (GT-I9000). My experience with this nice one is amazing, except when it comes down to gaming. For example when playing Blood & Glory it just lags like hell, but I have seen videos of other galaxy s on youtube playing the very same game smooth. So I was wondering what can I do about it. I thought that I could install voofoo lagfix, but it was my understanding that it isn't available for gingerbread 2.3.6 (I have a rooted I9000XWJVZ, and I didn't touch anything else). I also thought that you may know a rom that is especially suited for gaming.
I'm at your mercy, please help a poor fellow. Bye and Happy Christmas.
If you were looking for gaming device, I personally would recommend you XBOX or Playstation...
Thanks, but this doesn't help me (and I already have a 360). What I'm saying is that my galaxy s doesn't seem to be able to play game very well, some others do. So I just wanna know what can I do about it.
First of all, read the threads here, and look in General section as well.
You can start from widgets freezing/delete.
Don't use much widgets.

Problem is that gingerbread has terrible memory management, it always tries to keep apps on memory, so when you're playing a game, your RAM changes depending on textures, etc. So the system sees more free RAM and starts an app which causes lags... yeah it's pretty stupid but you could try this:
Flash a custom kernel of your liking (I use semaphore and it's working well), and thunderbolt (it's a collection of scripts that enhance performance). Also you may want to flash a thunderbolt LMK add on (low memory killer), if you want best performance go for the 80MB LMK one, but you won't be able to multitask much. Actually you can change the LMK on the fly (with semaphore app) and that could be easier (flash at least the kernel and thunderbolt, the other thunderbolt add ons are optional)
Try to get some info on LMK, this thread is a good start:

Also I found Cyanogenmod to be ok at gaming but it's a battery hog, if you can tweak a samsung rom like I mentioned you could get good performance and battery life, even if it's a bit complicated at first.
If nothing of this satisfies you, you could go back to froyo, it's much better for gaming, really.
I think the best phone is Samsung Galaxy S2
Thank you parhelion69, I'll try and let you know. Man, tuning a device is much more complicated than expected...

Performance ROM+Kernel

Hello. I would like to ask whitch ROM + Kernel gives best performance in games? Becouse now I barely get 20k points in Antutu... and fps is jumping crazy in 3d test. Does this has anything to do with throttling?
First of all I would like to say that benchmarking apps are a bunch of BULL! Don't rely on them. Complain only if you find lags/stutters in real gaming. But yes, throttling does effect it.
As far as ROMs are concerned, such threads are not allowed here. Head over to the android development section and see which suits you the best.
"What's the best" ROM/Kernel threads are not allowed. Please just try them for yourself.

[Q]Best SetUp for my daily use ?

Hello !
I use my M7 for chatting, navigating, phone calls, some apps like "amazon", bus connections etc. No heavy gaming or other projects.
I have even underclocked it to 1100MHz for better battery lifetime.
For me it's important to have a fast, Stable Rom with a great Battery Lifetime. I don't care about its design etc. but it should be Sense.
Maybe the battery lifetime isn't related to the Rom (read a big discussion about that, but didn't finish..). In this case, what Kernel can you recommend ? Any mods or settings ? Any apps or possibilities to get the most stable Rom setup, with good battery life time ?
I don't need fancy designs etc. Just want the phone to be fast, and stable. And of course a good battery lifetime.
Any recommendations or tips ?

well my recommendation will be to try some differents roms and kernel yourself and see whats work the best for your needs.
no ''what is the best roms/kernels" threads are allowed here.
see below forum rules:
What does not go here (by far an uncomplete list, just some examples for topics that are not tolerated)
(...)
"Whis is the best rom for this device", "Is this rom better than that" (always subjective, prone to fanboy wars)

apart from the rom/kernel, I personally use Tasker to set custom power saver profile, you might want to give it a try (this is a paid app)
sorry guys , recommendation threads aren't allowed.

What's best battery life ROMs?

Hi, I'm right now on SlimSaber 4.4.4 and to be hones the battery life isn't good enough.
I'm looking for light, fast and good battery life ROM (it can be even on 4.0.4 or 4.1.2)
Thank you for helping and look forward for reply
Regards,
Tom
I'm currently using AryaMod v7 rom. It has some pretty good battery performance in comparison to the kitkat roms on the galaxy note. It isn't a simple rom (size > 700 MB), but give it a shot!
