Would you change your Z1 for a Note 3?
I am really considering doing the swap.
This should be posted in General. Anyway, why going for Note 3?
If I could sell my Z1 today, tomorrow I would buy a Note 3 for sure!!!! [email protected]#@$ remorse...

No.
my friend has a note 3, it sais he needs to pull the battery out at least once a day since it freezes...
sounds bad to me...
I have a note3 on the way. I will compare and decide. But since I don´t have a tablet and I already had the first Note which I found awesome besides the "looking goofy" when calling I am favoriable to the note3 and since most Bugs are now out of the way I will probably go for it and sell the Z1.
The only drawback will be the camera the Z1 Camera is superior no doubt about that.
If on Kitkat 4.4 for Z1 we will still cannot move the apps to sd I think I will go for Samsung too. Unbelievable but Samsung have this option.
CERO freezes for me in my note 3. excelent smartphone. camera LOT easier to use than z1 that was like a roulette for good pics. like it a lot more. i was in love of Z1 but was the worst phone i have ever had lots of bugs and crappy camera
also front camera is terrible
touch screen bug, too much to say..
Never again sony.

As long as note 3 runs touchwiz, it's useless.
If you're gonna install aosp ROM or cm, cool.
But then half of the phone will be useless. No s-pen features and all that gimmicky touchwiz stuff.
Stay simple. Stay xperia.

Moved also to Note 3 after bricking my Z1. As i had a Note 1 before Z1, this was really relaxing for me after messing with Xperia troubles.
I think,i do not want to buy any Sony product for a long time.
My Z1 has been in warranty repair for two months now, this is not good.

That's a good one.
I'd never buy Samsung device unless it changes it design. Whereas Z1 is gorgeous and it's a pleasure to even look at it, the galaxy line looks like a bunch of "made in china" phones. You guys should try out how much you can flex the back cover of the S4. It's unbelievable.
When I pay premium, then I want to get premium stuff... It's not only the looks, it's the UI, impressive camera, battery life, reception and everything. I'm in love. Never Samsung unless it changes it's design.

u will love note3
in a month i had both note3 and z1 (then sold z1 for mwc)

:good:
I have a Z Ultra and thinking about getting a Z1 - but before that, had a Note 3... actually sold it a few weeks ago to get the Ultra.
I previously had Notes 1 and 2, got 3 but it was just so boring. Touchwiz really hasn't changed much and slows the phone down despite the fast CPU and 3gb ram. The camera on the Note 3 really sucks for indoor shots without a flash. The Xperia phones just feel so much better, higher build quality than the plastic of the Note 3. The back of mine used to creak every time I picked it up, one of the reasons why I decided to sell it.
Overall, the Note 3 is not a bad phone... but if you want all the S-Pen features, you're gonna have to keep Touchwiz on there.

First of all let me clarify that I liked the Z1 , but I had the Galaxy S4, exynos version, and have had several problems, so I switch to the Lumia 920, which I hated and now I'm with the Z1. Despite the Z1 is an incredibly fast, fluid and with a great battery smartphone, it has several bugs, for example: faulty microphone, mainly recording on whatsapp, touchscreen has problems almost always, the sound is too low, the camera does not is there all this, expecting more, the screen is a real crap, whitish, very bad at any angle, battery charging is slow, when closing the walkman in the list of recent apps the music stops, or when I pause in the notifications, the notification disappears and no longer appears to play again. Without mention, I miss features of the S4, as all those camera functions, ESPECIALLY the multi-window, better utilization by the edge of the screen, much improvements in the software by Samsung, and also from all sensors. Today I regret having sold the Galaxy S4 and if I could, will be with Note 3. The problem is that I live in Brazil, and here is not easy to switch smartphones due to the extortionate prices.. Sorry bad english, and hope u understand...

Hello, I am looking to switch to Tmobile US and I really was drawn to the Xperia Z line of phones being an iPhone guy normally I liked the build quality of them.
My question is, since the Xperia Z1 isn't on Tmobile as of now, should I get the Z and just wait for the Z2 to come out or should I hold out for the likely release of the Z1 on Tmobile? There have been quite a few leaked press shots and other reasons to believe the Z1 is coming to Tmobile US but who knows how long it could be based on the Xperia Z being 5 months late after global release.
I want to switch ASAP from ATT but I don't want to buy the Z and regret it when the Z1 comes out. Is the Z1 that big of an upgrade for anyone who owned the xperia Z? I am coming from iPhone and battery and smoothness are important and those two things seem to be what the Z1 improved on with the Snapdragon 800 and larger battery.
Thanks.
Don't buy Xperia Z. Wait for Z1. It's much better and smoother. I sold my Xperia Z to buy Z1 and I can say that buying Xperia Z is stupid.

I actually like the larger screen on the Z that I played with in the store. I just don't know what to do in the mean time especially if they take their time with the Z1 launch to sell of the old ones stock. I need to switch soon to avoid another big ATT bill if I can.
Coming from the Z, I would say that the Z1 is definitely an upgrade. A huge one at that. However if weight's your thing you have to note that the Z1 is 170g which isn't that light compared to the Z. The difference in weight is notable when you hold them...(and your IPhone is lighter so you'll want to take that into consideration)
In terms of smoothness, Z1 never lags. S800 chipset is great, definitely better than the S4 Pro. You won't feel the difference through regular use...
Battery wise Stamina mode will help extend battery life so don't worry about it. But as a power user I can tell you for sure that the bigger battery didn't lead to bigger battery life. Still, I can definitely get through a full day on 1 charge with enough juice to spare...
Hope I helped.

A powerful processor doesn't compensate for a poorly coded app(or not optimized for X device)

Yes, I have also upgraded from Z to Z1, no comparison in terms or performance. Love not having to open a flap to insert my headphones!!! I find the Z1 better to hold in the hand, the Z to me was a little to square and I always felt like the Z was going to fall out of my hand. Love the magnetic charge port. If it was me right now in your position I would not be buying the Z

Really, I notice a huge difference on a daily basis with mine, I have an email app that marking all my mail messages as read used to take about 5-10 seconds, now well less than 1. No skipping of playing mp3's, draging things to your desktop now pretty much instant, vs a couple of seconds, launching apps way quicker, No lags.

Good to know, I was worry about the phone. AND goot to know they selling crap. Even on my HTC that app was the same.
I did a video a while back about the reasons why you may consider choosing the Z1 over Z. Here it is:
Hi all!
I want to buy XZ in a few days, but I heard some bad stuff about it.
1. Battery life is very poor as I heard
2. Screens can just break in a half without a reason
3. Does that hot back trouble a lot?
Anyone can share his/her thoughts? I will really apreciate that.
Hi
these issues sound like pre release or first batch issues like most phones at release these are common issues . the phone's battery life is more then acceptable for 1 and half days use for lite to moderate use , with a suitable cover the phone is more then sturdy . the phone will only get hot after a long internet session or after playing graphic intensive games otherwise its mostly ship shape throughout the day . the xperia z wont disappoint the build quality is stil better then the samsung galaxy s4 which is a plastic phone .
have you considered the xperia z1 it has a newer xperia launcher and camera app software wise ?

Heck, I'm much in a position just like you a few days back, grab mine already, it is a good phone, well that depending on what you previously had
Nevertheless, I have been with Sony phone all these days and 3 of my previous phone easily reach 2 years after a really rough usage, And I'm sure this one will last just like others. And, FYI, my X10 and Arc still rocking, just not as fast as this new one.

Bro before i had a Xperia Neo too.
It's a good upgrade, especially the waterproofness is nice.
Also, the screen is miles better than the Xperia Neo screen and not as bad as most peeps say.
The phone gets hot true but only uf you do intense gaming, and it's not a big problem for me.
Also the sound quality is awesome and you get a good headset with your Z.

great to see that opinion, it's very helpful I also thought about Xperia T, because my girlfriend has it, and I think I will choose between those two
Battery life lasts long enough to use during the day, before recharging when you get home. I have a thin bumper cover on mine and dropped it on a few occasions and no problems or damage. I even accidentally dropped it in the toilet, and was thankful for the water resistance My Z has become quite hot when flashing ROMs etc. but no back plate lifting so far. It's a great device IMO:thumbup:

even if I don't let me phone's battery die , after a day of use , i get like 40-50% left , and at night i plug it . About build quality , i had s4 , s2 , note 2 , htc , but believe this phone is far more superior at build quality , even so I doesn''t surpass the HTC One(even if i hear it is kind of fragile). About broken screens , don't know , I own a XZ for 3 months now but haven't droped it once.

Coming from a HTC one (Stolen ) Only thing I miss is the more petite frame, speakers, and the ease of unlocking bootloader , camera is better (even front camera), battery life is better , waterproof, sexier than the htc (speakers made it ugly ) expandable storage, the screen sometimes I like sometimes I miss the HTC's blacks, colours seem more realistic tho with the xperia. Was going to get the Z1 but for £180 I couldnt say no to the Z.
That said I used it for a week before buying my own one (cousins ) and I fell in love with it, if I had known I would have got this from the start
Still havent unlocked bootloader keep getting weird error :\ and not sure I want too with because you loose bravia engine :|, I think there may be a clash with my fastboot drivers from the HTC? Anyway, get the Xperia you wont regret it
I will go for my XZ next weekend I think, I will post when I'll buy thanks for every opinion guyz!

Hi guys, I currently have a Sony xperjia s and I love the device. However my upgrade is due in may (a long time away yes I know, but I want to be prepared) and I want to know your thoughts of this phone, pros and cons, etc.

The yellow hue of the screen. double check first the screen of the phone before getting one. I hope your S has a great screen and if does that should be your reference. Yellowish tint is very much evident on gray areas like the notification bar. Though the latest update, .136, has the white balance and it resolves that issue but having an at least almost perfect phone at the beginning is better right. So far the battery drains fast but that is if you're a heavy user. Just use Stamina Mode amd you're good to go. Superior Auto is a hit and miss but when using manual it's great. Screen is awesome but it could have been if it is IPS like the one in Z1 Compaxt but then again it is AWESOME.

Phone is really crap! Bad screen, yellow hue, too much overheating I don't install games because of this, camera button very loose, other buttons feel like they are going to fall off, battery is good, but camera is crap even low light tripod shots are awful too much noise for such sensor, no 4K video recording, glass is not scratch resistant while holding the phone I scratch the back with my ring (I removed factory protection )... I've been SONY fan since Sony Ericsson and I gave this Z1 a chance after having Z and I must say I'm moving to Nexus ... Sony doesn't care about built quality anymore. If you want gaming this phone is pain in ***

Okay, now I really hate on-screen buttons, I am sure there's a way to disable them right, permanently?
Now secondly, the camera, is it on par with S4, or slightly better, or worse?
I don't hate my S4, but I hate some basic ideas which are been missing when designing a phone, like putting the speaker grill at rear, absolutely pathetic vibration strength, this is the deal breaker actually. I have missed number of calls, and that's causing me lot of troubles for my business. I never use anything other than vibration mode. So I am hoping Sony has done the basics right and made the vibration which could be felt, and is strong?
About the display, that will be a downgrade for me. I am huge fan of OLED displays, my previous phone history (since the arrival of OLED), Samsung Jet, Samsung Omnia HD, Samsung Wave S8500, Samsung S2, Samsung Note 2 and now S4. So you can see I have bore Samsung because of their OLED display. So I honestly don't believe that Trilimunous display with X-Reality will be any kind of upgrade. Anyway, that's thing I am prepared to give away.
So to make it short, I want to buy this phone, if the basics of this phone are right. Like I said, does it have really strong vibration? How is the call quality, is it loud or low? GSMArena review said the loudspeaker performance is below average, I don't much care about that but it will be a PITA if it's that low! And build quality, I am sure it's great, cause Sony never failed me with build quality before (I was a SE user and have used dozen phones, before OLED display was brought by Sammy), so I am having high expectations from Z1.
Thanks.

I have no problem with the volume or vibration... It is fair enough, much better than the s4.. You could try it in a shop and see whether it is good enough for you... The z2 has a better screen from what I know, and the camera is better than s4.. No doubt
The build quality is great... I love mine and it is fast as hell...
But my best advice is to go and try it before you buy

Z1 and Z2 both make use of on-screen buttons. If you disable them, you won't have any back/home/recents button at all. I wonder how will you be navigating in your phone without them.
I did exactly this, I got sick of the S4's internal capacity and ****ty camera, not going back to Samsung anytime soon

Hey guys, I have been using an S4 (i9500) for past six months, and there are some issues which are irritating me, so was thinking about buying a Z1. Anyone bought this phone from an S4? What's your thought, what do you miss or gain?
Thanks in advance.

Go for the Z2. It'll cost a bit extra but you'll get a fantastic screen. The Z1's screen is just mehh.
Hi there!
Recently bought an Xperia Z1 and i like it. But recently i have been experiencing some "odd things". Such as the whole phone just freeze, purple fringing in photos and camera starting very slow from Airplane mode. To some it might not sound much of a big deal and yes for me its not too big a deal but i fear it might not be the last time i will experience those issues.
My other fear from my Z1 is that the camera started to have mist inside as if to indicate the waterproofing ain't that tight and ain't that great. Then i heard about the Galaxy S4 Active. Now, i'm aware both phones came out last year although the Z1 seems to be the newer of the two with better specs, etc.
But i want to ask in terms of the ruggedness and better/tighter anit-dust and anti-splash (i.e. waterproofing) which you think does it better: Sony or Samsung?
Also, on another note which one you think still has another chance of an update to 4.4.2 or beyond?
Please advice. Thanks.

I have a S4 Active and am more than satisfied with its water-resistance capabilities.
Haven't you considered another water-resistant phone, like the Galaxy S5 or Xperia Z2?

I don't like Samsung phones because i think all their phones have become "premium" in terms of prices similar to Apple. They have too many bloatwares too. The Xperia Z2 is an amazing phone but like the S5 it's very new and still quite expensive.
So far the two phones that i had in the past 9 months is the G2 and the Z1 especially with battery life, performance, features, etc. the latter having an advantage because of its water-resistant properties.
But have heard the waterproofing on the S4 Active ain't too good and the camera is so weak & low-specced.
I also use a s4 active and live it! The official 4.4 update is also available since some days. Battery power is 2 days +, screen is great and its smooth like hell (I run cm11 on it)
