I was able to play movies that I had on my phone to my tv(smart TV with wifi) no problem. Now they make miracast which requires a device to do the same thing. IS there a way around this? I have tried a few apps from the play store but none of them work good.

I recently switched to CM7.1 and would like to have an app that does DLNA media streaming similar to what the stock rom had. Anyone have any suggestions? Any feedback would be most appreciated.

I love imediaShare. I have zero complaints. Twonky didn't work as well with my hardware.
Skifta is AMAZING. Very user friendly.

whats the difference between the paid and free imediashare app? can anyone tell me i cant find it
I've also been looking for a good alternative to the stock DLNA since it doesn't work with ps3. Then again, nothing much works on the ps3 since the network is down. anyway, I tried imediashare, but it didn't seem to work either. Is the ps3 DLNA technology just to outdated for the Thunderbolt?

I confirm imediashare works very nice with ps3. I love its feature where you can
1. stream youtube and many many sites directly
2. I like the way you can search for videos on your mobile and see them on ps3
3. I love its inbuit channels,very useful
4. Reliable and always works, no jerks no crashes.
5. plays HD content
6. Youtube quality is extremely good compared to the ps3 browser youtube.
7. Suppprts UPNP features of my ddwrt router.
It does not play my mobile(3gp) videos because none of these software can transcode, and ps3 can't play 3gp directly.

i haven't had any problems with nay movies/videos...
Using MX video player (the free version) & it seems to play almost anything i want.
I think maybe cuz I don't have 1.7gb available but are all movies that large

Maybe the player is telling you that it can't use HW decoding for video???
Sometimes using MXvideoplayer is uses SW decode, but as long as i'm not watching a hd movies it's ok.
It's a problem when you try to watch a 720p movies without using HW decoding..
It plays laggy; but generally it's a question of avi's codec that aren't decoded by our cpu..
Download qqplayer and everything will be fine.

Flashing Movies and How? Am I the only one who doesn't know what a flashing movie is?
Surely you must know if you have enough drive space to copy a movie across.
I use MXplayer to play vids. Works flawlessly even when the phones got tTorrent running which is extremely taxing. I rarely use the phone to watch movies besides on extended bathroom visits. Usually stream them to WDlive player using Twonky mobile if I couldn't be bothered copying them over. (All free versions btw)
@itsbeertimenow I tried qqplayer and was out of sync on mkv's.
I'm still trying to figure out the "flashing movies" bit

First time I've ever downloaded a movie from the playstore onto my htc One. When I go to watch movie on 'play movies' via 3G it's unable to play movie. Anyone know why this is? Is there a way round this at all?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Anyone???
It was my understanding that once you root your device you can no longer play Google play movies or shows.
Not sure if that's the cause for you.

Hey
When I "cast" Plex from my phone or tablet the sound is rubbish. Almost like back in the day when you watched a video on the internet.
But watching Plex via my set top box is fine. Any solutions?

Without some Media Info and info about your setup it will be difficult to answer...
One reason could even be as simple as a dirty connection between the CCast and the HDMI input...
But more likely is that you are streaming in some form of Multichannel that your TV doesn't support or is set incorrectly to deal with it.
CCast should take into account what your TV will accept for audio but on some older TVs this may not work properly.
It could also be the way it is transcoding in Plex for CCast that is the difference because your set top box may not require transcoding.
So many things it could be that it is impossible to solve without a lot more information to draw from.
It's been fine recent weeks. Up until a few days ago. My set top box accesses the same media PC with no issues.

So I buy all my movies from the play store. Since buying the n4 yesterday, I haven't been able to play any of them at all. Not on stock, or any of the stock based roms. Tried root cloak and the issue is still there. The only thing I have not tried is an aosp rom which I will be trying tonight. Here is a screenshot of the error I get. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys. J
I have no problem streaming movies from play store. Are you trying to stream them or you downloaded them before and you try to play them from sd card?
