[HELP] Bricked ? ? GT-I9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody
I have a Galaxy S bought in august 2010 (originally France FTM but with all the flashes don't know which CSC for now :cyclops .
The phone has been flashed multiple times and lastly was on an Aokp rom (don't remember which).
Don't know what happens (it's my son's phone) but all of a sudden the phone stopped working .
I tried to flash an old stock firmware but the phone didn't boot.
The phone doesn't respond to a power button press but only when plugged on charger (or USB connected to PC).
When it "starts" the only thing showed on screen is a little white circle (jpg 1) as if the phone was waiting for something.
But as long as I wait (one night) nothing happens.
Nevertheless the 3 button combo works as I can get into Download Mode (but only when phone is plugged, otherwise nothing works) (jpg 2).
Phone is recognized by Odin :good:.
I have tried with 2 different batteries (one is new)
I wanted to flash original Eclair firmware XWDD4 with 512 pit file to see il I can recover the phone.
But I can't download any of the files needed to do this.
My phone is bricked for sure but soft bricked only I hope:
Q1 : - did anyone ever see that kind of white circle on a SGS screen and if yes, is such phone unbrickable by software means .
Q2 : - could someone provide me with a download link to some archive where I could download the firmware I need (if an Odin flash is worth being tried ) .
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
Best regards.

problem with upgrade firmware

Hi...
I am trying to upgrade the firmware of my Galaxy Si9000.
When I connect to Kies, I get a pop-up saying my firmware is PHONE:JP2 and a new upgrade PHONE:JV4 is available. I tried upgrading but once the process starts,
First I get an option to Backup Data.
Then, I see a window which says "Preparing device for Firmware Upgrade"
And that's it. After some time download begins , in between 50-60% its stops
The screen on the phone stays with the working man but nothing is being upgraded till the moment when Kies asks me for firmware recovery. Unplugging the phone and restarting brings it back to its original state.I tried doing 5 to 6 times but no help.
Any idea???
My Galaxy S is currently running on Android 2.1
Kies is updated to the latest version.
and
i also tried with the manual firmware update or any other custom ROM firmware update from the trusted source provided at AndroidAdvices.com, but the problem is my device doesn't go in download mode (Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button)...plz help me out........
1. Dear kumar, have you tried to multiply your question even more? I saw that you already asked this question in "Ask me for anything..." thread, and you have started new one... Maybe you shall ask in SG General? Maybe in SGS2 threads?
2. Buy a jig from eBay to go to download mode...
samsung galaxy si9000
instead of buying Jig ......is there any other alternative way to go in download mode?
use "adb reboot download"
You can update using the Heimdall One-Click from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330491

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S bricked completely.

Hello everybody! I need some help here. I've been unable to find someone with a similar problems to me so, here goes. I was trying to root my Samsung Galaxy S i9000M Vibrant (Bell), and well I guess something went wrong. I got to the part where I put the Kernel zimage in the Voodoo/disable-lagix folder and after I clicked start on the Heimdall Frontend my phone just basically went black. Now at first, I could start it up and it would go through the galaxy s logo and then permanently stay on a screen that displayed "Overstock. Lighter. Faster. Stronger." and I thought well my phone is bricked so I searched around and found a program called One-click unbrick and tried doing that. That just made it worse and took away the overstock screen and just left the screen blank. So I searched more and used this Odin Method for Vibrant, and that again made it worse. It can now only go into download mode, the loading battery animation, or just a full white screen that flashes on and off about every 5 seconds. I'm pretty desperate and can't find help anywhere else. Any help here???
If the SGS is still responding in someway, the good news is it's NOT completely bricked.
My first try would be to put the phone in download mode & flash (using 3 files) the last working firmware. Just look around here for the file links.
Since you can get into download mode, you're not hard bricked.
At this point I think your best bet is to flash an official Bell stock ROM for the i9000m.
They are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
search for i9000m
KG3 is the only official Bell Gingerbread ROM to date
KC1 is the last official Bell Froyo ROM
Do I just put this into Odin??
Yes.
PDA in PDA
PHONE in PHONE
CSC in CSC
Your copy of Odin should have come with pit files.
select the file with 512 in it.
Here is a picture that shows what it should look like (the PDA shows the one for JVT, but select the one for whichever official ROM you are flashing):

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
In that link you sent me do I choose the North America GK 2.3.3?
Yes, that is the official Bell Gingerbread ROM for the i9000m.
Does my phone have to be 100% charged?
It should be more than 50% charged.
The higher the charge you have, the better.
Thank you so much! I thought my phone was forever doomed! Day Made.
It is now stuck on the Galaxy S screen. Help??
The first boot after a re-partition flash takes a bit of time.
Yeah, It tooks a couple minutes but its working now. Thanks
/thread
Excellent, glad you got it back.
Not sure if you are aware, but for whatever reason, on the Bell UGKG3 GB release the 3-button combo is actually a 2-button combo.
To get into download mode so you can flash some other ROM again, just press volume down and power.

[Q] Kies crashed Galaxy S update now bricked !!HELP!!

Hi.
I tried updating my Samsung Galaxy S to the latest firmware using Kies (all official), as it was updating i got this message: "disconnect the cable, then battery, then replace battery and turn on and then try again"
So i followed the given steps and i get this screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I searched on this forum and found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134975) which i followed and lead me to this screen:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h9VbztnoEqs/TamSqYdBRyI/AAAAAAAAAEs/oxp7FUo5WRs/s1600/samsung-galaxy-s-download-mode.jpg
Only problem is, what should i do after this? It's on that screen. I dont want to root it (yet...), but want to update it to its latest firmware.
Kies it probably the worst, misguided software i've ever used.
Can you give a link to the official latest firmware, so i can install on to the phone.
Thanks
You could also try "emergency recovery" or something like that from the Kies. Our use Odin/Heimdall to flash stock rom. Don't worry you'll get your phone back up and running
Sent from my sandwiched SGS
I tried Emergency Recovery on Kies, nothing was coming up, so that was a fail...
Can someone please link me to a good tutorial to Install a stock rom on to my phone please?
Thanks.
Edit:
I've found this Tutorial, should i refer to it for my situation?
Edit 2:
Can some one link to a ROM that i can use for "[GUIDE] Flash/Install/Update to Gingerbread 2.3.4 to I9000" as the current one linked on the thread is dead.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139050
[GUIDE] Flash/Install/Update to Gingerbread 2.3.4 to I9000: Detailed guide for n00bs
Use jvu, one of the latest official:
http://hotfile.com/dl/140301534/be8872c/I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA.rar.html
No need to put anything to your sdcard as you dont have cwm.
Read the guide, get odin and 512 pit
Use search.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the links!
I have looked everywhere and i cannot find the 512.pit, only one i found had a dead link.
Can you link me to a working link please?
Thanks
Edit 2:
Hey, nevermind, i manage to find the link and download.
I've installed the firmware it is 2.3.6! So happy
Thanks a million!

follow green for recovery mode and red for download mode
you can follow this
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
If you can reach download mode, it will be fine.
Before switching between custom roms it is better to downgrade first to a stock rom and root it and flash after that another custom rom.
The reason are different system partitions, many custom roms for i9000 use different partitions than stock does. Thr devs suppose stock rom as your outgoing point before upgrading to custom rom. Now you should flash a stock rom, root it and flash MIUI after that.

1. First of all , don't worry!
2. try this USB jig-
galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-hacks/how-to-make-a-usb-jig-for-your-galaxy-s2/
3. After using this jig, your phone will come directly into download mode. Make sure that battery is charged at least 25%.
4. Now flash XXJVU 2.3.6 official. Read my post in below link-

You can try this method

and flash the gingerbread stock ROM, if you have poor Mobile Network reception problem, you can change the modem for India later, so follow guide and flash with PIT and JVU ROM
or you can flash a rescue kit ( it is the same) If you have everything saved, its best you format your internal SD card for a clean install.
