Since the update to Android 4.4.2 I have problems with making the daily backup of the HTC.
I used this to store my Dropbox account.
Now he makes automatic backups and more should I do if I click on backup first to decide which store I want to use (Google Drive or Dropbox).
And every time I choose to Dropbox, I grant this permission HTC Backup can use Dropbox. Use

I have the same problem and definitely more people have come across this issue as it doesn't look user or phone specific but something to do with the way 4.4.2 update was build.
I am facing the same issue with Dropbox account however with Google drive I can't seem to find the backup files in my google drive account. Not sure what this other problem is
I am still trying to find a fix for it but haven't had any luck yet. I will surely update this post if I find the fix.
If you're able to find a fix, let me know.
Regards,
Nick
Had the same issue, Did a "clear data" under settings, apps, all, htc backup.
I was then able to add the dropbox account back when back in the htc backup program (click on htc account)
I have a ticket in with htc.
I set my backup, watch it perform the back up, don't see my files in my google drive and have no dropbox account.
I just asked them yesterday where my files went, no response yet. I lost everything when I unlocked my bootloader with htcdev.

I have been in contact with HTC. According to them, this is because their free 25GB Google Drive support is preferred automatic backup forward to Google Drive instead of Dropbox.
The files are hidden in Google Drive so that they can be not accidentally delete
Automatic Backup not working with DropBox
Hi Justin,
Can you guide me to this page where you see the hidden HTC backup files?
Also, If I removed Google drive from my HTC One, will the automatic backup work fine with DropBox? Did you test that?
Regards,
Nick
I work now with google drive and the screenshot is from google drive.
HTC automatic backup broken Android 4.4.2
Hi Justin,
I understand that you're using Google drive now as the automatic backup defaults to the Google Drive cloud storage instead of Dropbox.
But could you please point me to the location on Google Drive where I can find my backup files.
I'm still not sure where to look for backup files from my HTC One on Google drive.
I would really appreciate your further suggestions here.
Regards,
Nick

The backup files are hidden in Google Drive. Go to https://drive.google.com/ and then go to Settings - Manage apps. Then scroll down and you'll see you HTC device.
After 4.4.3 update I no longer can do backup, it just goes to 53% ant then stops telling me that backup is not available at this moment and try again later :/ under account and sync options htc account sync is off, despite that all other sync is on im using stock rom with backup option on google drive. Can anyone suggest me something?

Had the same problem turns out its facebook thats the problem even thou i weren't using it to login with sync.
Go to settings>Accounts & sync>facebook>remove
Restart your device
Run the backup function again
You might have to run the backup twice for it to work.

Same problem here.
Maybe I have a workaround for that issue
Had the same issue with HTC Backup since 4.4.3 upgrade ..... until today.
The only way I found to complete HTC Backup was to deactivate Facebook app before starting my backup.
Hope FB/HTC developers solve the issue definitely cause using this workaround I cannot anyways use automatic backup .....

Hi everyone,
just wondering as I did my first order (BlueEx) for my Dream machine.
What happens if I format my device (install another cooked rom)? do I lost my application? do I download it again for free as I have the same gmail account? is there any way of grabing my apk install file?
thanks for your help, sure it's just 1.4€ for the moment, but if I went for documents2go or any other more expensive app (wisepilot....), I would not format my device anymore!
paid apps can be downloaded from the market again at no cost, but yes you will have to reinstall everything.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to get your paid apps. moved from original gmail account to another gmail account. (Going to delete original account) Thanks.
You can pull the app off of your device using adb pull. I believe some backup apps can also backup apk files onto sdcard. One thing to note is that if you reinstall your own backup from a file rather than the market, you will not be able to get updates from the market. Only apps installed using the market app will show up on the Downloaded list (and thus be updatable without a repurchase).
Also, if the app in question is a protected app (not all paid apps are) then you will need root to pull it out of app-protected.
I wonder if there isn't some way to transfer your Market app licenses from one gmail account to another. You might have to contact Android Market support about it.

I figured it out, first you wipe in Recovery then Reboot, log into original Gmail account (The one with your purchased Apps.) go into Market and redownload your purchased Apps., now get out of Market and go to Settings/Applications/Manage applications, scroll down till you get to Google Apps, click on that and press Clear data now Reboot and go back to Market and it'll ask you to log in again, log in with new Gmail account and all your stuff will sync, Contacts ect... and after a few minutes your purchased Apps. will show up in My downloads.

Thank you for the Tutorial - it worked for me until I wanted to install a Update of a purchased App:
they are all shown in My downloads & Market tells me that there is a Update available. When I click update it shows me the Buy button & the Price of the app?!
What can I do now? Any ideas?
Hello I was wondering if someone can help me. I download Cyanogenmod 6.1.2 which was a good mod for my first. I thought I was doing everything correctly, rooted my phone for the first time. I was following steps on how to access the ROM I recently downloaded, but unfortunately upon installing the rom I wiped my cache and data without backing up my Nandroid. Now everything is gone, I lost my contacts, all my data and on top of that I dont have GMAIL to restore my contacts nor do I have the MARKET.
If someone could help me I would appreciate it, or even provide me with a link in which I can restore my phone back to a default setting so I can start over. I tried looking through the forums, and I couldn't find anything. I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places, or subforums.
Thank you.
I don't have your answer, not a droid user, but I can tell you that it's probably a very easy fix. Don't sweat it. Your contacts and gmail aren't stored on your phone.

Did you flash the GoogleApps? With CMx you need to flash it after you flash CM. Google apps include account settup, googla apps downloader, market, etc
When you set you account up you will see your contacts again
The phone is not damaged at all! Stay chill )... As eXtink said, you just need to download Google Apps, put the .zip file in the update folder and run it from Androidiani, just as you did with the ROM. Here's the link (choose the one for HDPI devices). Have a nice day!
Hi guys,
After flashing Slick2x-G, all my contacts are gone. I did a full wipe since it's neccesary, but after turning my phone back on all my phone numbers are gone.
I remember that when I saved a new contact I always chose LG PC Suite in the options. Is there any way to get them from somewhere?
Thanks!

If you backed them up before a wipe then yes.Else no
I did a clockworkmod backup and i did a backup with titanium backup, but no idea IF they saved it and if they did, where the files are.
Could you explain me?
The ClockworkMod backup wont help, but look for Contacts in Titanium.
I tried, but in the new rom I'm using right now is no titanium, where can I find the backups?
Should be in /sdcard/TitaniumBackup

You can do another thing.Full Wipe the phone restore the clockworkmod backup.Reboot phone.Open contacts.Press the options "hard key".Select more.then select Import/export.Export to sdcard.Wait for it to finish. It will save all your contacts in the sdcard. Then boot to recovery.Full wipe again.Flash the desired Rom.After that reboot phone.Open contacts...Select import/export from options...Import from sdcard.Select the file.Wait for it to finish. You will have all the contacts.A little long process but the best.
Thanks for the explaination, I'm going to try it tomorrow or so. I guess it will work! Thanks!

If you did a Titanium backup you just have to re-install Titanium and restore your contact app + data. it's what I do for Go contact. If your contacts were set as google contact they should be back automatically with sync.
Edit: doesn't work I looked at my contacts and only the google one are restored. You must use the built-in save feature in your contact app our use a specific backup app.

Yes, at some point I would recommend changing all your contacts from LG to Gmail contacts. Not only is it far easier to sync, it helps prevent issues that arise from apps that also use your contacts list, and it allows you to easily sync contacts onto any future Android phone.
I changed back to my backup since i couldn't get my contacts back. Is there any way to make Google contacts of all or do i have to do it one by one? Thanks!
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
very easily yes
in the contacts application, select menu, select export to SD, then select all contacts and these will be saved as a vcf file on the SD memory
then go back to the contacts application again, select menu, then select import from SD - it will ask where you want to import to, select import to Google contacts and it will be imported and synched to your google account.
After that you can delete all the phone contacts and just leave the google contacts - easiest way to do this is turn off view of google contacts first, it will then only show phone contacts, select all and delete them and finally turn on google contacts view again.
When i select export tot sd, it only exports like 21 of my contacts, which are my whatsapp contacts. Can't find any options to change that?

hi
just wanted to throw this question out to the community - I have selected the option to Backup my phone's application/data profile to Google.
now, even though I have uninstalled some applications from my phone, the next time I flash a rom, they pop right back in.
Is there any way I can check on Google what is the data that has been backed up and manually edit/remove those applications so that they don't keep getting re-installed.
thanks.

I've looked around on google and my phone and cant find anything. I THINK what you should do, next time you flash a new rom is make sure you sync your phone with google so that your uninstalled apps will register in their server as uninstalled and therefore wont install next time just a hunch though.

disregard my previous post, i read the question wrong :S
unfortunately i dont think there is a way to do what you are wanting to do ive done some googling and looked through my phne to find nothing :|
What you can do to avoid the apps from re-installing is to not select the 'sync' option when you insal a new ROM in the 'first settings' .
Once the rom has booted up completely then when you goto 'accounts & sync' with gmail, only contacts and the selected choices will be synced, not the apps.
can't backup data or game in google account
Hi folks,
I've done a fair bit of searching and although it has been briefly discussed before I can't see any recent mentions about Helium (aka Carbon) from clockworkmod (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en).
The Google Play store page for the app mentions that the app doesn't work on the Xperia S and Z due to some changes Sony made, however when I first got my Xperia Z (at launch in the UK), I was able to backup app data (and some apks) from my Galaxy S3 and restore them onto the Xperia Z without any issues.
Given there have been a few software updates from Sony since launch, does anyone have any recent experience with Helium, specifically whether it works correctly to backup and restore to the Xperia Z? I couldn't find a suitable thread or forum to try to ask the developer directly what the specific issues were with the Xperia S and Z that led to the warning on the app page.
I had a problem restoring Apps with this app after full factory reset. It always crashed. Tried to restore from SD card and CLOUD. on my galaxy s3 it works fine. The build in sony's backup and restore app is doing great.

Then make backups of them again.. Then they will have those backup up files in the "Carbon" folder. Then copy the folders inside without the "nomedia" file. It then the app will show the backup & viola... Apps restored...

Is there something weird about the way messages are stored in general? Everything else seemed to work - the one thing I can't seem to figure out is how to restore text messages (com.android.providers.telephony.ab) - I've tried to do it as a whole app using the PC interface, tried copying the folder as a replacement via Android File Transfer to the 'carbon' folder, etc.
When I try to restore via helium server, it quickly shows me everything as restored but I don't see the messages. When I try to do it manually (e.g. force copy), I don't see an option under "Restore and Sync" to actually select messaging.
Am I missing something stupid / obvious? The raw data seems to be there (for example, call logs were uploaded just fine, text messages seem to have an issue).

So I came up with a solution based on what works for others. Why this works when it didn't previously is beyond me, but hopefully someone else can use it if individual parts of their Helium backup don't work properly (in theory it should work for any app / SQL dataset). The whole point of Helium is that we're running non-rooted phones and so Titanium Backup or the like aren't applicable. For reference, I'm running an N4 to OSX 10.7.x
1. Use the Helium Server to create a full backup.
2. Wipe phone or whatever you need to do (I had to do a factory reset for Google since it's an N4 and my proximity sensor is dead).
3. Install the apps you had previously via Play Store (pain in the a**).
4. Run Helium server and upload the backup data.
5. Update apps as needed (should be auto but who knows for individual stuff).
6. Check app data in apps. Texts are obviously easy to see for me. Hopefully everything restored nicely for you here.
***Now for the bit for people who got corrupted restores.
7. Unzip the backup file on your computer, select the .ab files that correspond to the missing / corrupted restores and then zip those into a new file on your computer (for step 9). Keep these files handy in unzipped form as well for step 10.
8. Perform a new Helium backup of those sections onto the internal SD card (yes it will be blank, worry not).
9. (Optional step): Run Helium server and upload that new zip file (with the stuff that didn't make it) alone. Try restore. Unlikely to work but worth a shot.
10. Running Android File Transfer, find the SD card, find the folder 'carbon' and then find the corresponding sub-folders that have the modules that were corrupted. Replace the SD card backups of the broken modules with the good ones from your computer.
11. Run Helium restore again, but only for the sections you want (I swear, for me Messaging didn't show up the first few times but after step 10 it did).
12. Wait, hoepfully it works well. I would reboot after running the restore to a) kill Helium and b) confirm functionality.
FWIW, my telephony.ab was 1.8MB and took SIX hours to restore. Seriously. Yeah yeah, that's a lot of texts but six hours? I've since added "SMS Backup & Restore" to my phone and will probably just use that, map out my phone layout and functionality and just manually replace apps from now on since most data is in the cloud. You lose some stuff, but prima facie it's boat tons easier.
Hopefully that helps someone else who had the same issues.

Somehow my phone got soft factory reset (lost all the apps but the files) when i tried to install the apps that I had before it throws a play store error while installing saying it couldnt be installed because of an unkown error "-24" plz helpp
Why are you mocking Koush? Yes the Koush. He made this app. He specifically said in the app description that:
Note: Helium is NOT available to Motorola devices. This is because Motorola phones have a bug that break Android's backup mechanism. Until this is fixed by Motorola, Helium will not work on those Androids. You can download Helium manually here:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/apks/Backup.apk
If you find that Helium *does* work on your Motorola Android, please notify me.
Note: Some Sony devices have issues with Helium. This includes the Xperia S and Xperia Z. Sony has *disabled* backup on these devices completely.
