Search for some similar app then.
There are some Youtube apps on Playstore that works in background, but they are not same as Youtube app.

BUMP

Htc phones have fastboot.
When you switch off your device, the phone does not actually shut down. It hibernates. It goes to a low power mode. The kernel is still active.
This is why htc boots quite fast, in less than 6secs.
And That is why alarm works even after it is switched off. In samsung, this is not possible as the phone is completely turned off.
As for youtube, i saw an app pvstar which played videos in background. Other than that i have no idea.

[Q] Alarm doesn't work while phone is off ?

Hi,
Set the alarm at 7:00AM and switched the phone off to save battery. the alarm didn't work. tried again and again. simply doesn't work !!
what is this ?
Thanks guys
What do you mean you switch off? Do you lock it or turn it off. Because if you turn off your phone the alarm will not work.

Looks like you need to choose, or to wake up or save battery...
No, the alarm doesn't work with the phone OFF
What phone do you have? There could be other issues so let's get all the facts first.

Another "iPhone doesn't have it, so it's not needed" feature, I guess.. :/ too bad, really. It's not extremely difficult to implement a function like that. Or implement something like a standby mode that can be woken up by some system command. Such as an alarm, a preset sync event to a calendar update, an event on a calendar.. Could make the device sleep again after checking as well. Say you'd wake it up every once in a while to check for missed calls (if.. service providers would have ever implemented something like that - you could maybe even let your phone be woken up by a call.. if a system start would take five-ten seconds, connecting through would work), or receive unfetched messages or e-mail from the network, that sort of thing.

Firstly, this is a QUESTION and should be in the Q&A forum. But anyhoo...
I'm not sure if the OP and a couple of the other posters are trolling or just being deliberately obtuse. Do you REALLY expect your alarm to work when you turn your phone OFF? I know, back in the day some of the simple phones would support this, but it was implemented in hardware. Your phone now requires Android to run - not going to happen when it's turned off.
I want my phone on all the time so people can contact me if they need to. At night it goes into Quiet Hours, so only a phone call or alarm will disturb me. It also only uses about 7% battery overnight, so I can't see the problem with that at all.
As for the comments about the phone waking itself up periodically tipi check on things, that means that it can't actually be fully turned off, and also that will use battery in the first place.
I'm still not sure if I'm being trolled or not... :banghead:
lol. Yeah, back in the day most phones had a function like that. ..pretty much all laptops actually have the same thing, but no one actually use it for anything. Wake from lan-poll, wake from activity on system-bus, wake on software counter. Practically all chipsets have that from ARM boards to the latest desktop motherboards. Different depths of sleep states makes it pretty easy to do implement any amount of functions from that.
The "hardware" poll isn't a whole bunch more complicated than preserving the clock when turning the power off. All phones do that.. keep the clock from stopping after you hit the power.. and literally all phones have a soft switch to turn the phone from that "standby" state to power on state. And that switch can be triggered by a routine on some cmos clock+ module. It's not complicated. For all we know it could be there on the chipset already, it just didn't seem very appealing to anyone to program an app in Android to communicate somehow with the hardware layer outside the Android interfaces.
..I don't know. I have this feeling that in 20 years, when people are asked to program something and the Microsoft tools break - then people can't do it. "Original Code" becomes a religious object that people worship and call the divine wisdom of God, and things like that.. And no, you're not being trolled.

it looks nice indeed but sadly this causes the screen to be always on after recieving a message and with our phone having a screen on time of max 5.5 hours you dont really want this kind of behaviour.
say you get a message late at night before your going to bed and you just charged your phone your gonna wake up to a dead phone as overnight the battery will be drained empty.

The app have battery saving option. We can set the time for it to be off.
The worst is that I activate but, nothing happend... Once that I have a lot of
stuff frozen/uninstalled, I though the problem might be because of that.
That's why I ask if someone else can try it and report if it works, to see if
the issue is from the app or from my settings.

Open Knock²+ app, go to the tab "APPLICATIONS", you'll see several apps and in front of the app icon you need to activate.
If you don't have Facebook it won't appear there, only apps that you have installed, and messages you have
All of my app are activated. I tryed it out by sending an e-mail but it doesnt work..:banghead:
Edit:all of my apps where deactivated! I am an idiot!
It works great!
Is the battery drain significant?

I don't notice a big drain but, also didn't had a lot of "messages".
During the night (or other period) you select it to be OFF.
Explore the settings :good:
Yes i saw it has a lot of options. It can be off during the night, its off in your pocket and you can set the after what period it turns off!:good: Great app!
for me, the only problem is that the flash isn't used, even when i set it to double or single. it simply doesnt fire up ^^

Depends on the user, settings and of course if you receive 20 or 200 messages a day don't drain more than a normal app.

For me it use 15-20% overnight, when sleep mode is on. And from 37 to 15% in 6 hours is too much, turned off..

I just installed it yesterday, so far work OK. During the night I use "Sleep mode" and battery drain as usually, but I will check today how it's work during day time.
Really like the setup of the app and giving it also a try. Only thing that have noticed is tht phonecalls are shown only when another notification has come up. Will see if theres a way to controll it fro msettings.
Battery is still normal for me, lets see what longer usage period is showing.
the same for me ,it only start working when sms notification comes, after that calls notification works fine, led down t work ,and poked mode down t work ,it down t give a dam is the phone in your pocked or not ,im on stock JB ,rooted ,BL unlocked .

Touchscreen Fix, Testers Please

Go to System\usr\idc and open file clear_ped.idc with a text editor
look for the line
#Pressure
touch.pressure.scale=0.2
I changed to 0.1, save and close,
Secondly go to System\usr\idc and open file clearpad.idc
look for the line touch.filter.level = 2
I changed the level = 2 to level = 4
Reboot and enjoy.
My touchscreen now works flawlessly and I hope this fix works for others please test and report back your findings.
Remember to hit thanks if I helped you in any way.
You can try other settings, You can change the 4 , from 1-7 1 being most sensitive, not always best and 7 being the least. Each device will be different and vary in results. I wouldn't recommend going to 7 though as your touchscreen might become unresponsive.
I found 4 was the best on my handset,. Good luck.
I did that and I think it's a bit better now...

What Rom and Kernel are you on, I think some 4.3 ROMs still have an issue with the system being read only, I'm by no means a dev and you would need to read about this on whatever ROM you have thread, once you gain access to system being read, write you will have no issue saving.
Try other settings

I'm sorry I'm really not sure why it's like that, as other post said depending on your ROM, it's best to contact the developer who made it. If you're using stock, then reply to me and I'll try and help further

Try pressing and holding power button and volume up until it vibrates 3 times, after you've rebooted the phone.
If that doesn't work:
Best thing to do is link it up to PCCompanion and reset the phone to all it's factory settings. Try that?
Edit, best we talk here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49018376#post49018376

Hello guys! I came here to show you this video:
[Search Youtube for XPERIA Z1 タッチ切れ再現法 The method of reproduce] Sorry, new users can't post links it seems. But please check the video out.
I wanted to ask if any of you could give a reasonable explanation of it. If this is a software issue - how could it be reproduced in such a manner, by touching the metal frame of the phone? The video shows it pretty well. I also managed to reproduce the bug like this on my Z1. It has been in service for about 20 days now. I am worried that they might just 'mask' a hardware issue with software filtering. My initial assumption is that this is due to bad grounding? Why else would human contact trigger it? You can see it can be reproduced on-demand like this.
Thanks for reading! I hope someone can explain it.
Actually, you don't have to touch the metal frame!
Just put Z1 on a desk, wait for 30 seconds, touch screen and the bug will happen !

video demonstrates that a touch is being registered when touching the frame. It's kinda weird since why did the screen reacted to the touched frame. I have done that also and it's the same with me. But even after touching the frame and screen registered the touch, still screen fails to produce a continuous touch.
Sometimes it produces phantom touches which can be the cause of the random zooming and highlighting when browsing
Also tried changing the touch filter and failed to save. I think it needs root access
Im also facing such issue like I touched in sketch app & locked phone with other finger.Unlocked it while keeping the finger at same spot, then scolling the finger missed the touch
Also after playing GTA SA for about 30 min the touch sometimes stop responding.Any solutions
I tried above method but nothing works.I don't want to give this phone as I got it in replacement regarding yellow hue issue.

This is really a widespread problem across the globe. even Z1s owners are plagued by this problem and most likely even the z1 compact.
@Banwell13 I've not tried this as my touchscreen problem seems to have fixed itself? Strange.
But i'll definitely be keeping this thread in mind if it re-occurs.
Thanks for your efforts m8, appreciate it.

Think what he ment was if you hold the frame then the issue doesn't occur, well that's what happens on mine at least, putting it down on a desk usually makes the bug show it's face. Holding the frame fixes it.
@dladz, @brapicoco, Guys, we said this 20 times, the issue don't show on our devices in the same mode.

I don't like to force close apps too much but at least with your idea I can change change the lockscreen to something else instead of MIKE and MIKE staring me down all the time =). Thanks!
You can open another app that uses the lock screen, then just exit out and close it. Should go back to the normal screen.

I have the same issue with tunein. Press stop on the station you are listening to and the lockscreen wallpaper will go away. If you press pause or exit on the app it will retain the image. The problem is with the app not the phone.

HI , i don`t know about heating problem my phone works ok , but that battery % dropping 10-15 % or maybe more is an issue with some ROM`s actually it doesn`t eat up battery when it is switched off it sucks the life outta battery when you turn it on and then you gatta wait for a minute or so and just stare at the boot logo , that is what happens when i turn on my phone , to be safe i downloadd bootmanager from xposed directory to stop some apps from starting at boot you can also try it or use similar app.
Hope it helps
