Where does gear save the backup? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I installed galaxy gear on my gt-i9505 s4 with cm11. I got it working at first but could not use gears notification system but used ATN manager. In my striving to get the most out of it, I tried to factory restore the gear, and now gear manager asks me every time to either reset it or restore the backup it has. Now both of these fail. And because it worked the first time when there was no backup I wish to find the directory where Gear manager keeps the saved data. I have so far not been able to find it. It's not any of the preinstalls from the gear manager, not from gear manager itself nor is it fetched from a server. So where is it? Could someone point me in the right direction?

I had the same issues I deleted .BTManager_backup on the root of the sdcard on my HTC one and it was able to work correctly again with out asking to restore or reset.

Thank you soo much! It did the trick and now it works again. ☺

Awesome. Glad I could help

Thanks man. Been looking for this all night. So once removed the gear will connect without any of those pesky options but do you see any issues? Does the setting app show up on gear manager?

All my installed apps gone from Gear! Ugh

Not sure what happened but, all the installed apps are gone from the Gear. I know I did not reset it. Unfortunately, MobileMe trial expired to see if the apps are still in the Gear but, not showing up under apps drawer.
Can someone link me on instructions on how to do adb in Mac for redownloading the apks please.

Has anyone tried to copy side loaded apps to a folder on the "sd card" this might make it easier to reinstall as long as that doesn't get cleared on the manager updates.

Break the chains from Samsung Gear manager

Who else would be keen on that? Every time something goes wrong and you need to re do the blue tooth you are forced to restore with the gear manager removing all your files and apps
If you do a TWRP backup on the Gear first, after doing the restore from Gear Manager, do a restore of data only in TWRP on the Gear and it will restore all apps, settings, widgets etc.
I know it's not ideal, but I've done it with the last couple of Gear Manager updates and it sets everything on the Gear up as it was before the Gear Manager update.
The /sdcard partition is untouched during a restore. If you have to do it through Gear Manager, I recommend using Titanium to back the apps up, redownload Titanium from Play after the restore, then restore all apps.

agree and have done this but the bluetooth password seems to change?
Iv considered looking into this, although it would be to much maintenance.. Hardly worth it.
I would recommend simply backing up your configuration's of your apps to sdcard eg. launcher (nova in my case), tasker & zooper widgets, pull the APK's from your gear of your installed apps & pull your sdcard data.
I dont use recovery backup whats so ever, I simply do the above and it literally takes 3 minutes to restore my setup.

gear not connecting

I noticed a few days ago that the gear manager was no longer working on my phone. The gear was still paired to the Bluetooth on my Note 3. I updated the gear manager software but it would never connect the gear. I decided to just start over with the gear so I flashed the stock Rom using Odin. I also uninstalled the gear manager software on the phone. I let the gear boot up and it started the gear manager connection app. Then I touched the cradle to the back of my phone. The gear manager software installed and when it started I get a message saying:
Unable to connect to the Gear. Connecting to the Gear is not supported by you're mobile device, or your software needs to be updated. Check that your mobile device is able to connect to the gear then update your mobile device software.
I decided to flash the stock Rom again and now it will not go into download mode. Any ideas?
Try deleting the gearmanager backup folder on your sd card.

go to you gear, settings then unpair bluetooth then try reconnecting
I finally was able to pair the bluetooth with my phone but still can't connect the great manager. Where is the backup file located?

Unable to pair

I am using my Nexus 5 and I am having a hard time trying to pair with the Galaxy Gear. Everytime I try to pair, it will scan for the device then I get to Restore: Restore Gear settings and previously backed up apps. I have two options: Restore or Reset. Neither of them work. If I click restore it will try to restore then disconnect. If I click Reset it will disconnect also. Anyone experience this problem before and can help?
Try to unpair first then pair again

Try resetting your gear; clearing data and cache from gar manager; removing gear manager and rebooting; reinstalling gear manager
Or delete that backup files - I just can't for the life of me remember where that is though

I tried everything except for deleting the backup files, I have no idea where those are too.
Edit:
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum... I appreciate the help guys. Thanks! Got everything running now... I ended up deleting the folder: .BManager_backup from my root.

(Q) So my phone (J5) is incompatible with Gear 1st (according to S) what now?

Hello all,
For good or bad I purchased the gear 1 without fully investigating compatibility with J5, never occurred to me that a 2015 phone running 5.1.1 one of the latest android OS and having 1.5gb ram would be?
Anyway so, how to go around it, cracked version of the gear manager? Unlocking the device ? Going back to android ? Which is best?
Thanks in advance.
PS. What about that crazy hit and hold combination on YouTube ?

1. I went into the gear manager stub file, and then the Lollipop folder located in that folder. Downloaded, installed in /system/app and corrected the permissions.
2. Downloaded Samsung Gear Manager 2.2.15022599, and installed all of the extracted APKS. goproviders and saproviders will crash when installed.
3. I then restarted my phone, and wiped both the cache and dalvik cache. I then proceeded to open gear manager. (Make sure to do this with your data and WiFi connections turned OFF)
4. I opened Gear Manager and attempted to sync my gear 2 with the phone, and HostManager kept crashing. Hitting the home button, I went into the app manager and uninstalled HostManager. I then installed the HostManager from the 2.2.14100299 version of Gear Manager using ES File Explorer.
5. I quickly turned off the Bluetooth connection on my HTC, and then turned it back on. The watch said connection failed, then attempted to sync again, and managed to successfully sync, taking me to the terms and conditions page.
6. The media controller fix I discovered on accident while trying to get E-mails working. Saproviders kept crashing when trying to go to the option, so I uninstalled SAproviders and installed version 2.0.87. Can't remember what version of Gear Manager it came from. This caused the media controller to start working with no problems. E-mails manage to get to the next screen, then crashes when attempting to setup an account.
So basically I followed the method I quoted, using the poster's dropbox link to the correct files. I hope that helps.
credits to @ycats , works with my gear 1 aswell even thou hes got gear 2
download the files from this link but the version mentioned above n the same procedure

Hey thanks,
Ok this are great instructions that will follow just one question.
Since my phone is a Galaxy J5 and is already running touchwiz rom, so I was able to actually load gear manager from the Galaxy store.
But says phone incompatible, is there any specific step that bypasses this security?
Thanks

Ok tried it this way and whichever gear manager I load it comes bask asking to update to latest version with no workaround and latest version just prompts that my device is incompatible ? Any ideas ?
Ok managed to connect and everything works only problem is that saproviders crash and I get no notifications, not even SMS.
Although the most anoying thing is the system trying to update the app to its incompatible latest version.
Ok got it to work 90% of the functions . With limited hustle on 5.1.1 J5.
Nevertheless I am really disgusted with Samsung and it's policy, it's almost like they hate the J5 regardless of its success . They only wanna sell A and S class devices even if they lose money which they do. Really bad marketing.
Pavlos
Well it was after all a lot simpler than I thought could be. Routed the J5 changed build prop to S5 uninstalled all old and voila. Everything works based on the latest Samsung gear manager, it auto downloaded all apps and calendar, call log, e-mail, everything works.
Even changed back to the normal J5 and still all is fine.
So bravo to Samsung for not officially supporting on of the most hot in sales device, that otherwise is fully compatible. FYI my device is the J500FN running official 5.1.1 touchwiz rom.
Anyone else with a J5 (should also work on J7) that needs help let me know.
Pavlos
