Hello
Today I rooted my device, unlocked the boot loader and installed Vanir 4.4.2 rom. Everything is fine except that I cannot create folders in the app menu or on the main screen as I was able to do in 4.0.3. Another thing I noticed is that I do not have camera settings and cant set a custom ringtone. Is it just me or are these rom limitations? If this functionality is not available in the Vanir rom, can you recommend me another rom which has better performance than the stock one and can organize apps in folders, has camera settings and can select custom ringtone?
Creating folders etc is launcher dependant not rom related
Why can't you select custom ringtones? settings -> sound -> ringtones
Camera settings you just need to hold finger on screen and slide up

You can create folders on your home screen just fine (drag & drop one app over the other), just not in the app drawer

Hi all!
Have a question. i'm on stock based rom
How can i MANUALLY change lockscreen wallpaper. what files should i push to system folders?
I get FC when i try to change wallpaper using Settings\Display\Lockscreen wallpaper option.
Several custom roms already provide NOT stock lockscreen wallpaper and i want to know if i can change it myself.
Please dont advice me to change the lockscreen app.
and YES, i did search this forum and found partial solution here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520258&highlight=lockscreen
But in that solution the LOCKscreen wallpaper changes as fas as i change the HOMEscreen wallpaper and i want 2 separate\different wallpapers
noone knows the solution?
what UI are you using eg: touchwiz or go launcher? also are you on rooted stock rom?

Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31380208&postcount=2
You may have to mod the apk file manually to inject your wallpaper...
Using Gallery you can also just search for the wallpaper you want to add wherever it is located...easier solution IMHO...
Did you ever figure this out?
cant you go to gallery and open the pic you want as wallpaper and hit the menu button and select "set as"
Gallery > Image > Set As > Lockscreen Wallpaper.
Ah i guess. Im on a stock galaxy nexus but thought you guys were on stock rooted roms for your devices. so figured you would be in the same boat as me. Stock jelly bean can't set lock screen wallpapers.
Oh well
Hi guys
I'm using the amazing rom which called Paranoidandroid 2.12 and when I'm trying to edit and arrange the icons on the menu (not on homescreen) and even creating a new folder it's impossible .. tried using nova & apex launchers and it doesn't work either .. is there any way to do that ?
Thanks,
Moshe
What you are referring to is the App Drawer, not the "menu" (big difference!).
Creating folders and rearranging the program icons within the App Drawer is something that is specific to Samsung's TouchWiz launcher, and as such is something that you can't do in Apex or Nova.
What you can do, however, is set up the top headers to be pseudo-folders. Currently it should say something like "apps" and "downloaded" and "widgets" or similar. With the paid-for Apex Pro (I know Nova does the same, but I am unfamiliar with the launcher and the corresponding process) you can customise those headings. On mine, for example, I have the headers set to "Programs" (I HATE the phrase "Apps"), "Tools" and "Games" with the widgets list disabled.
So, if you are after folders, and can make do with only three folders (the widgets section is redundant as long as you can add a widget to your homescreen with long-press) then you can do that with Apex Pro.
Unfortunately, there USED to be a thread in the apps section for the JB GSIII Touchwiz launcher for CyanogenMod 10, but for some reason I can't find it anymore to link it to you...
so, arranging the icons on the menu like on ics (not on the homescreen) not available on jb ?

you still mean the App drawer, not the menu! The menu is the text list that appears when you press the left capacitive button on the phone or the three dots in apps. The App Drawer is the full list of all programs you have installed on your phone with icons. The two are very different, please refer to the correct thing as it's very confusing otherwise!
anyway, as luck would have it, I've found the thread for Touchwiz on CM10: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854826
If you install this then you will be able to do everything that you remember and require from stock Galaxy Note ROMs including folders in the app drawer.
As another clarification for you, ICS and JB are not the problem for you. When you say ICS you mean the stock Samsung Galaxy Note ICS Touchwiz based ROM, and when you say JB you mean Paranoid Android 2.12 CyanogenMod 10 based ROM. Those last bits are crucial. Apex runs on ICS just find and you still can't do the folder thing that you want to do with Apex on ICS. Only Touchwiz - regardless of Android version - can do the folders and rearranging of icons in the app drawer.

I didnt try that launcher but i think thats not a bug
In touchwiz, when you change the wallpaper, you need to select whether to scroll or not to scroll

can't find the option to enable that ..
When you select a wallpaper, you will see two modes below the wallpaper(normally we get it in the tw).If you can see that, select the first one and you get scrollable wallpaper

i'm love testing roms so when ever i flash a new rom i have to set all apps and stack them into folders(i prefer stacking apps in folders) and this is very difficult when u have more than 400 apps.
is there any app that back'ups the previous appdrawer settings and then restore's it ?
i've read it somewhere that a app is there and it works for samsung launchers.
anyone aware of it ?

Backup data of touchwiz launcher using Titanium Backup then restore it whenever you flash a new TW based ROM.
Go backup..... Their will be an option to backup the launcher layout
Hello guys, i have rooted my One and using the ARHD rom.
I didn't like Sense, so i've bought the Nova Prime launcher. But i can't change the lockscreen shortcuts with this launcher.
Is there any way to do this?
Thanks,
Bill
Nova does not control that lock screen. Nor does it come with it. If you got rid of sense you sit with the basic android lockscreen. There is no options to configure it I believe unless you have a Rom that has configurations for it implemented
If i get rid of Sense, i would be able to customize lockscreen shortcuts?

How does one get rid of sense on a sense ROM?
The lock screen is part of sense and I don't think you can just "customize" it. You could change which icons it displays, but that's about it.
You could, perhaps, change to an AOSP lock screen. Not via an app, there are some files you would have to change.

You have to disable nova launcher, press the home button and when it asks what you want to perform the action with, choose Sense (just once) ... Setup your icons in the dock that you want on the lockscreen and then press home again and choose Nova Launcer and always.

use ViperOne Rom and when u install it you have an option to delete sense on it then u can customise as u want the lockscreen with custom notification and shortcut
I tried this with ViperOne Rom but I couldn't find a way to add my shortcuts in the lockscreen.
Flashed again the Rom with the Sense enabled and did it like AllAboutTheCore mentioned.

You're missing the point. He wants the Sense Lockscreen so he can have shortcuts for apps but he uses Nova Launcher, so needed to set up Sense before switching over ... Changing to Viper and using AOSP Lockscreen is not going to give him what he wants.
Exactly what AllAboutTheCore said. So, i think your solution is the only one.
Tried also the AOSP lockscreen but still not what i want to do.
there is an app for that

also works on latest ARHD 21.0 sense 5 android 4.3 for the htc one m7 and make sure you dont use any cleaner script just uninstall the launcher using titanium backup.

Hey there. I recently upgraded from stock 2.3.6 to cyanogenmod 10.1 android 4.2.2 on my Galaxy S Plus and it is quite the difference. I really like it so far but because it is such a big change, i have some random questions about it.
1. In 2.3.6 you could re-organize apps in the drawer as you wanted by tapping menu -> edit. How can you do this in 4.2.2 ? (i know this depends on the launcher, i only tired nova launcher and cm default trebuchet launcher). - (the 4.2.2 default launcher does this ?) (what is the best launcher for 4.2.2?)
2. in 2.3.6 by tapping the menu button at homescreen it displays add widget , shortcuts wallpapers etc. How can you do this in 4.2.2 ? (the only way to add widgets is by going into app drawer -> widgets ?)
3. Where is the repeat button in the Apollo Music Player ? (or should i change to something else?)
3. How can i not install / remove default apps that comes with the rom? (like the default browser because i switched to chrome)
4. If i understand correctly cyanogenmod is based on ASOP and is pure android. What about the android 4.2.2 that comes with galaxy s4 or s3 ? Could we have that on our Galaxy S Plus ?
I would like to keep it as clean as possible without installing tons of apps to modify the rom. Thanks
to 1. i don`t know if it is possible...
to 2. this i the "new" way add widgets to teh homescreen...the possibility from 2.3.6 comes maybe back with Android 4.4
to 3. on my CM10.2 i haven`t find any possibility...
to 3. i remove apps with a file-manager with mounting the root system as writeable and go to system/app then remove or move it to sdcard ...that`s all ...
to 4. CM 10.1 is Android 4.2.2 and you`re right it is based on AOSP ... but the difference between the Version of Samsung are more not needful apps and the other UI ...why do you want the version of S3 or S4 ...the based android version is 4.2.2 in both ways i9000, i9001 or s3 or s4 ...
Hope i can help you with some questions ...:good:

I flashed the CyanogenMod 10.1 by ADC-Team - Release 8 and the K^Kernel 3.4.x OC/EXUV 390MB with my wife's i9001,it's very smooth、stable and a good battery,That I installed apex launcher because of my habit
And about you questions, there's no affect for me that you will be able to adapt the ROM after a period of time

1. Apex launcher rocks, try it...
3b. Try app from Play Store called SD Maid to remove apps. It is very powerful tool and can do a lot, I use pro version but I think the free one can do pretty much all as well.
1) This is launcher specific
2) This is also launcher specific, both MiHome and Go Launcher have similar implementations of the way it is done on stock, as well as ADW
3a.) In Apollo, near the bottom, there should be a symbol that has two arrows forming a loop
3b.) As tetakpatak said
4.) S3/S4's 4.2.2 has modifications and additions to it as well as a custom framework of the system. You can have a theme as well as however many ported apps there are, but a direct port of either of these requires a hell of a lot of reverse engineering as well as some compromises
And freakymod- personal preference. Nothing wrong with wanting Touchwiz.
