Bricked Kindle Fire HD

I screwed up installing CM10.1 forgot to put rom onto device and ended up in boot loop.
I got a fastboot cable but the kindle shows as Tate PVT and the update driver box is greyed out. Cant get fastboot or adb to recognise the device.
Is there anyway to recover from this

i might be in the same boat...my kindle fire logo turns blue and gives me a msg at the bottom to press power button for boot menu
when i do i get normal boot,recover,and reset boot mode...when i click on one it just says booting and power button stays organish red for ever

Maybe you don't have your drivers properly installed

If you have twrp installed and the blue kindle boot screen just hit volume down and use the side load feature. But if your fastboot is giving u a problem where u can't hit update driver I would assume it would be because windows is already searching for one still? If so tell windows to skip obtaining from windows update and it finish sooner so u can try to update it manually.

Hi Baconrind. Screwing one’s device is a good opportunity to learn new things. At least this is what happened to me and I’m glad I did. A couple of months ago I bought a new KFHD7. I spend "wonderful :laugh:" weeks as the happy owner of a KFHD7 until I started to discover the shortcomings of same, so I started reading xda-developers’ stuff to try to customise the device. First I rooted it to be able to install Google Play Store. The idea was to stay as close to stock as possible. Unfortunately I lost root with the first Amazon OTA update, then I decided to install a second bootloader, TWRP, etc. To do that I followed Hashcode’s method Kindle Fire 2nd-bootloader + TWRP for the Kindle Fire HD 7 but at some point I bricked :crying: my device. I was stuck at the Kindle Fire logo. I spent hours browsing through xda-developers and discovered that the first thing to do was to get a fastboot cable. I did not have the patience to wait for it to come from China or wherever they make them, so I found a couple of posts on the xda forum here and here. I made my own even my soldering capabilities are quite limited. I shut down the KFHD7 and plugged the “fastboot” cable to the PC and then to the Kindle, a couple of seconds later I could see the fastboot logo. Once I saw the fastboot logo I unplugged it and used the regular data transfer cable instead. Before I started the unbricking process proper I downloaded and installed this tool: KFHD_SRT_v1.3.5.-7.3. I followed the onscreen indications and could reset my KFHD7 back to its original state. Kindle fire stuck in Bootloop

I need your help for my KINDLE fire 7 " HD stuck at bootlogo. I just came back from work and switched on my KINDLE but it booted and got stuck at 'KINDLE FIRE' boot logo. I tried every possible troubleshooting method, like giving hard reset but nothing works. It switches ON and gets stuck at the LOGO. Going by the forums I know that I need a fastboot cable which I have already ordered and expecting the delivery.
Can you plz guide me how to proceed once I have the cable with me ?

Hey brother....help me please. I now have the factory cable and I have gone through the page that u suggested. But there seems to be instructions without factory cable and I am getting a lot confused. Can you please suggest me how to proceed on this ?

Fastboot cord uses fastboot commands while in fastboot. This is the link to Kindle Fire FirstAid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 Once you follow the steps for setup and run it, you will choose number 3 to go back to 7.2.3 When asked if you want to reboot into fastboot, choose no because you are in fastboot.
You can use the regular USB to get into fastboot mode but not now that you are in a bootloop. After running KFFA to restore to 7.2.3 you will also use it to root and remove OTA updates then install gapps or if you are going to go custom romm with 2nd bootloader and TWRP recovery, skip gapps and move on to the latter. Do NOT use KFFA to install TWRP/2nd bootloader or any ROM. Use FireFlash.

Yes, I did that and then reboot my Kindle. But it's same and still stuck at boot logo.
Edit: Now it doesn't even turn ON, seems like the battery has drained. Tried wall charger for all night but still dont boots up. Plugged in the fastboot cable but nothing is happening. Please help :crying::crying:

So you're saying that you had a bootloop and you ran Kindle Fire FirstAide. Which numbers/options did you press? Plugging that fastboot cord in will power your Kindle Fire HD and send it into fastboot no matter the battery charge. Where did you get the fastboot cord from? A reliable source? I'm only asking because if the battery were low and the wire that connects pins 1 to 4 (think) that energize the Kindle into fastboot mode are somehow faulty, then this would stop the kindle from going into fastboot. However, if the fastboot cord is working, it would seem you have a hard brick. I will look around to see if there is a solution for this.

I firstly reboot the bootloader couple of times like people suggested me. When that didn't help I restored it and like i gave a detail in other post that it took fair amount of time like 45 mins of reading and writing the .img files. Even the message was prompted that 'Your kindle has been restored to 7.2.3, the only thing is that all this while the display of my Kindle didn't changed and was fixed on 'Fastboot Kindle fire' logo. I was disappointed with this device from start due to that crappy kindle OS which made it way too slow and things kept freezing and crashing all the time. Since I am in colombia and used a freight service for this cable to be delivered, i ended up paying 30 USD for the cable. I don't think I will be sending it for repair , it just don't worth it the expenses for the repair and the shipping cost from Colombia and vice versa. May be will keep experimenting and looking on XDA if at some point of time hard brick issue could be fixed.

Fastboot finds the device
Its stuck in bootloop so the only to communicate with it is though fastboot cable.

adb doesn't work with fastboot, only fastboot commands work with fastboot.

Stuck in bootloop after accidentally converting KFHD Launcher to user app on Titanium
Please Help! My KFHD IS Stuck in bootloop after I accidentally converted Kindle Launcher from system app to user app on Titanium. the kindle continues to run in the background but the image is stuck on the animated kindle fire logo. Any ideas/help would be really appreciated! Thanks

Reflash the system img. I don't know if you can make changes to an apk via adb.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, I can't turn ADB debugging on because there is no way to get access to the menu system. Is there another manner of fastbooting and of reflashing image you can possibly recommend to bypass not having access to the launcher? Again thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what is possible via fb other than adb. Try googling flash factory image & see what you find. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Yes,there is. The following commands will flash the boot,recovery and system images while in fastboot.
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash boot boot.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash system system.img

Hi im having problems with my kindle fire hd 2nd gen. I rooted and installed cm12 or 13 on it and it was working well but i lost root so i flashed Supersu through twrp now my device is bootlooping on the amazon fire boot screen. I couldn't get into fastboot so bought a fastboot cable which has arrived today (2 weeks from china) now when i plug it in the device goes into fastboot mode but my windows 10 shows it in device manager as Other Devices Tate -pvt-08. I cant issue commands through ADB (adb devices just shows nothing connected) if i enter the getvar command i just get waiting for device. I've reinstalled the kindle device driver and still no joy.
I also made a complete backup of my kindle before i rooted it which i have stored safely. but i need to know how i can push them to my kindle and how to make my laptop see the kindle.
I'm struggling now and pretty lost with it all if someone could lend a hand and tell me what im doing wrong

hi did you ever figure out the issue? i'm also in the same boat, was running with cm13, tried to flash super su using twrp got the boot loop. will go till the white and orange logo and reboots

cant remember what i did tbh, ive just fired my kndle up first time in a while and the rom im using is Omni Rom 6.0 its old (2016) but works. i remember using adb to push backed up partition images and literally started from scratch. Not much help but it was quite some time ago

[Q] twrp bootloop with a factoryboot cable on hand

Hello.
I rooted my kfhd 7 10.4.6 successfully and naturally proceeded to twrp where it got stuck on a bootloop. Now that I have made a factoryboot I was wondering what rout I should follow to flash the rom?
Browsing the topics I see these options:
* continue the process installing the twrp...
* download a toolkit that allows backup
* install ADB
* get fff
Now I'm wondering if someone has just made a restore utility, is there a utility to just restore to the state of having a rom installed?
Also, since I don't care for restoring backups, is there an easier way to flash?
I really appreciate your advice.

Firefirefire is not for this device 1st off, you don't have a kfhd 2nd off. Kfhd is v7.x.x. You have a kf2. Kf2's are 10.x.x.

if your logo turns blue at this point, turn the device off and when you turn it back on hold volume up while the logo is orange and keep holding it even after it turns blue, it should then say twrp and go into twrp, from there you could push a rom and flash it. If the logo does not turn blue then i would put it in fastboot and use kindle fire first aid to restore it, and try again.

It's been a while since I bricked. Perhaps it was 10.4.6 I can no longer access the settings the verify. But now that I have a factoryboot cable. I would just flash cyanogenmod. Now when I connect factoryboot it reads (in a fancy 3d text) "Fastboot" with a small "kindle fire" on the right side of it.
I originally followed a youtube video that had links for freedom boots, twrp, etc... to this forum, but then again I must have downloaded incorrect versions.. I'm not concerned with the date. So I'm wondering if it's easier to restore or continue with twrp.

There are too many guides, here ... which is really great. But the process of download, verification, transfer (to a pc).
If I cant brick this device any harder than it is, I will follow each guide...

a guy who bricked his device)

I had the same issue... I forgot to remove a script before flashing twrp. Maybe it is the same for you. Did you followed carefully the tuto ?
In my situation, I managed to go into fastboot (with fasboot cable), flashed stock ROM, and did the flashing process from the beginning..

If you only have fastboot access right now i suggest restoring with srt or kindle fire first aid. Afterwards you can start the twrp process over again, we can't simply flash cm from fastboot, if everything else isnt in place like the stack file or the bootimg and a old version of the bootloader then it wouldn't work. Fastboot should be in utilities like kffa and srt

There are so many options it seems, but I think I know what to do now (please let me know if it's not a incorrect course):
First, download and Kindle fire first aid from here, to restore back to and then follow the instruction here in order to start twrp and flashing.

I have download and installed many sdks and drivers and checked md5.. while at it. kffirstaid does not really seem to connect with the device. And some messing around with the drivers did occur, uninstalling/reinstalling through downloads and through kffirstaid. It now announces as tate-pv-08 though a triangle is showing next to Android ADB Interface in device manager.. I think something is missing.. Is java sdk necessary? because it doesn't install ..

You should be able to update the drivers of the Tate device using the drivers in my signature and have then programs work with fastboot. Not sure why an adb device and a Tate device show at same time, the Tate device should be the one needing fastboot drivers for it to work.

Hi. Someone yanked out the factory-boot cable and I quickly ordered the scorpion king cable. I downloaded kffirst aide again and there's been a massive update. Running a restore showed all signs of success. But then after restoring it to normal boot, I get kindle fire logo showing and then the boot loop continues.

If kffa fails then try SRT.

I have upgraded kffirst aide and in the middle of restore I do the following statements:
cannot load 'boot-prod.img No error
cannot load recovery-prod.img No error
cannot load system.imp: No error
However at the end there is the success message:
Success!!! The kindle Fire 2 7 has been restored to software version 10.2.3
and yet the bootloop continues to plague the brick..

That means the files it tried to flash didn't exist on your computer. Try srt, it includes those images.

I'm not sure if this is compatible with my device. Perhaps replacing those files/folders would solve the problem?

Oh wait yea kf2 didn't have a SRT.... My bad. Yea in that case you will need the kf2 I ages, kffa is supposed to download them for you but it's possible the links went down for the files.

Hi, I own a Kindle Fire HD 7', I got cyanogen mod on it but when I tryed to erase it something went wrong and I now have no OS. The kindle doesn't have twrp recovery. Any time I plug it in it turns on and a kindle fire logo appears, then disappears, and then reappears. This also happens when I boot it up with no charger. Is there a way to get any OS, I would prefer the kindle fire hd stock os! Please HELP!!

If you have 2nd bootloader,boot into fastboot and use yhe System Restore Tool. If not,you need a fastboot cable.

Kindle Fire HD 7" can't go past "Kindle Fire System Recovery" screen

Hello everyone! So about a month ago I bought my friend's old Kindle Fire HD. It worked perfectly fine. I decided to root it and install TWRP. Everything was working, until I turned off the kindle and turned it back on. It wouldn't go into TWRP recovery anymore, and was stuck in a bootloop. I ordered a fastboot cable, and it came yesterday. I tried to wipe it and reinstall stock Amazon software, and now it just goes to the system recovery screen with the red triangle and 2 options:
Either turn off your Kindle and turn it back on,
or factory reset it
I've tried both and nothing happens. I've tried using Kindle First Aide, but it doesn't download the boot, recovery, or system images. Please help me! I can provide any more information needed. Thank you!

Yes, I can get the device to boot into fastboot. Also, I know it's being recognised because when I do the fastboot command to check if device is connected, the Kindle shows up.

You should never revert to stock unless you want to keep it stock. I would have reflashed twrp initially. I'm not familiar with kf 1st aid.
