regain flashdrive capacity... - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I used diskimager to flash a 4gb img to a 16gb usb flashdrive to install cwm to my ovation... this was months ago, and I forgot about it... now I can't figure out how to get back my 16gb flashdrive... can't even seem to format it properly... not sure what I'm doing wrong... any help would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of card reader are you using? That could be the problem. Also try a partitioning software like Mini-Tool partition wizard.

It's an ADATA USB3.0 usb flash drive, not a card. I used a double female connector to connect it to the nook cord.
I've tried mini-tool parition also... lol... I think this drive must have been washed or something... diskpart can see it, I can create a primary partition, make it active...etc... but as for formatting nothing seems to work...

I have never heard of someone using a flashdrive to boot a nook. I noticed you were calling it a flashdrive earlier, but thought you just had your terms mixed up. That is weird. And I have no idea how to fix it.
Edit: You actually got that flashdrive to boot in a Nook HD/HD+? With the USB cable?

I honestly don't remember I just know I had burned a cwm image to it... for some reason, and that's the only reason I can think of doing it...
this is the image I had imaged the flashdrive with: NookHDplus-bootable-CWM-6028-for-stock-4GB-rev4-(05.15.13)

switched from unknown class to class 6

I recently made the change from an unknown class 2gb sdcard to a class 6 4gb sdcard and now things are going crazy. Hero has become unbelievably unstable and cyanogenmod boot loops.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
My guess is you failed to transfer over the apps that were on that old sd card (in the ext 2/3 partition) and now the phone can't find them. Either copy over all the data (search the forums to find out how) or do a wipe to make your phone forget about all tthose apps.

i've done several wipes, several reformats of the ext3 and the entire card, i've tried to do nandroid backup restores, nothing is working. :\
Done a full wipe and still issues? Huh. Try removing the card completely and doing a wipe. You shouldnt get any errors not having an SD card. If you do get errors then this might take a while. If you get no errors then your card is somehow screwing things up.
mistaken post. ignore this
so turns out there is something wrong with my sdcard. tried flashing xROM 1.4 at least three times and got boot loops every time, then booted up without the card in and booted up fine.
it also works when i use the switchrom script to restore.
is there anything i can do to make this card usable?
Don't take my word for it, but maybe a format and partition of the card again would probably work.

if anybody has any help, i'd love it :\ just like to know if this card is useless to me or not. thanks
if you have vista plug it in and it should say something about fixing errors when my sdcard was f***ing up i thought i might as well try it and it worked, hope this helps

if i were you i would send it back as faulty cos if it is giving you this many problems so early on that is not a good sign
btw you could try completely unformatting the card then re partitioning the empty space

the thing is, it's not new. i've had it for about 6 months and been using it in my mp3 player. i'm assuming that might be why it's not working. i've unformatted and reformatted the entire card a couple times.
i'm planning on getting an 8gb class 6 card soon, so as of now, i'm using my old 2gb card. but thanks for the help

[Q] Trying to run android on 7inch netbook

Hey, Im trying to install and run android x86/arm on a 7 inch cheap netbook from eBay. I know it can be done "watched on youtube" but i follow the tutorials, download file extract the "script" folder to SD card, insert SD card into netbook, power on and it should start installing android.
This does not happen so tried with "unetbootin" to the SD card, inserted into netbook, power on....still nothing and boots straight into Windows CE each time.
Can anyone help me out ?
I'm assuming it doesn't have a DVD slot?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Nope, no cd/dvd drive (i wish) and usb does not support 2.0, so cant use an external dvd drive either.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4FwFR4DRfU yeah its the exact same as the one in the video, and u can buy them with android on them now from eBay.
I think I'd be tempted to get one and put Ubuntu on it.
Well yeah that would work, its for a 11 year old, would they understand ubuntu, and would wifi and facebook is all that really needed to work. And i need it to reconise the sd on boot.

Chrome OS.?
Also are you pressing F12 or del or whatever lets you select the boot drive?

There is no bios, to change OS u need to do it all from a SD card, not usb supporeted. If u watch youtube ^^^^ and you will know what i mean, my problem is it wont boot from the SD card.

did you try to clean format your sd card before installing?
use a tool called hp usb storage tool, google it, you can find it in softpedia and format the sd card using it, usually solves a lot of boot problems
Tried formating with the tool to FAT32, copied the script for android to SD, nothing booted into CE and so...tried live usb creator to make the SD bootable still nothing boots into CE.
Really annoying

yeah it sounds weird, he got into the setup without pressing anything, hmm, did you try another sd card?
Now that u mention it im using a 8gb micro sd in an SD adapter.
Try a smaller card . Maybe a phone or some other powered device as the "card reader". Just throwing out ideas. GL.
Does the device even recognize the card when powered on normally? Like as a storage device?

OS or device

I'm not sure if this is even the right kind of forum to post this, but I imagine some dev has had this. When trying to move files onto my device using dolphin file manager on Ubuntu with KDE desktop the files never transfer. Anyone know why this is and if I can fix it. Is it a problem with ubuntu or with the device(xt860) It's a pain to switch to windows just to move a file. If a mod wants to move this thread that's cool. I wasn't sure where to post so here it went.

do you put the phone in mass storage mode?
is Ubuntu giving you any errors?
do you unmount it before removing the cable?
[edit] topic more suited for general. a mod will likely move it. [/edit]

Curious, do you have a memory card and reader available to test out? Imo try putting files on the card with the reader in ubuntu and see if you can read them on the phone, if not it's ubuntu.

With ubuntu and the phone in usb mass storage mode he would be auto mounting both, although that does bring the question to mind ... Are you sure you're looking at the right disk on the phone?

How do you know it didnt transfer?
On the phone, internal storage is /sdcard, external is /sdcard-ext. Are you looking in the right place?
Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk
I tried it multiple times, and I checked both the internal and external sdcard each time, just to make sure I didn't drop it in the wrong one. I also tried moving it through terminal commands just to see if it was a glitch in the dolphin package. I also tried another package "file manager" or something. I'm not at home to check the name. Everytimenothing. I tried unmounting the drives, and just disconnecting. Everytime, nothing. Did it in windows, and copied over right away.
PS. I also tried both moving, and copying, both show it on the card, but when I disconnect, its not there

NTFS and HFS+ mount

Not to take anything away from ezynow, but the Paragon worked smoothly for NTFS formatted USB. It will create its own Mount point for OTG USB drive formatted with NTFS, so you don't need to worry about typing a mount point in. I am not sure about ext4 though. In order to get rid of the annoying ! and sdcard image atthe bottom, I could suggest the solution given by ezynow; i.e. keep a small partition (1Gb say) with FAT and the rest with NTFS (?)

I think you may have other mount points assigned from other apps, which may be putting the tab 'run in circles'. I think the best bet is to ensure all other similar apps are uninstalled and try it again. The only sure way of knowing if no other mount points have been added is to re-install the stock ROM. Please let me know if this does not work.

USB OTG and TWRP?

Hello there
I am able to mount my flash drive using my OTG cable when running my ROM (TrickDroid) just fine by using this application to mount it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.shajul.usbotg&hl=en&rdid=net.shajul.usbotg&rdot=1
However I cannot for the life of me mount it using TWRP, which is why I got the OTG cable in the first place so I can format my SD card and then install a ROM without having to push/sideload it using ADB which takes a lot of time and isn't very practical and a bit messy. When I press Install and choose OTG USB I see beside it (0MB) and it's not mounting, of course.
Thanks
Please remove this thread, I have already fixed it by formatting the flash drive as FAT32 instead of NTFS.
