Not to take anything away from ezynow, but the Paragon worked smoothly for NTFS formatted USB. It will create its own Mount point for OTG USB drive formatted with NTFS, so you don't need to worry about typing a mount point in. I am not sure about ext4 though. In order to get rid of the annoying ! and sdcard image atthe bottom, I could suggest the solution given by ezynow; i.e. keep a small partition (1Gb say) with FAT and the rest with NTFS (?)

Sorry, I found my USB drives which are NTFS formatted - with external power. SUCCESS!
...with automount point - you still need to do a refresh after you plug your usb in.

If I plug a external hard drive in my tab freezes every time and I have to reboot. I have tried all the apps on the market and here some actually gets it mounted then it freezes.

too many similar apps installed

I think you may have other mount points assigned from other apps, which may be putting the tab 'run in circles'. I think the best bet is to ensure all other similar apps are uninstalled and try it again. The only sure way of knowing if no other mount points have been added is to re-install the stock ROM. Please let me know if this does not work.
Hy guys, i've just install CM7 2ndboot, it's work fine n I like it #thanks kabaldan:victory:
but I Have problem, When I connect my miles to PC using usb cable, and select memory card access. nothing happen.
my PC can't read my SD card. I dont find these probleme when using CM6
Anyone can please give me a solution??
thanks
Which filesystem are you using on your sdcard? (fat or ext)
If ext, then you can see it from any linux os but from none of the windows.
If fat, then you should be able to see it.
Does you os plays any sound effects when you select memory card access?
If yes, then i maybe disconnect and connect your phone to the pc will solve the problem.
If no, then i would try to disconnect and reconnect is and if nothing happens after a several time, i would try usb mode from OR.
Sometimes it takes some time - did you wait for at least 30 seconds?

Maybe you should disable the ADB Debugging and try if it solves the problem.
If it doesnt, you should try from a differend rom. Like cm7 withount 2ndboot or cm10.
If it doesnt work from any rom, then i guess it is hardware related problem not software.
Yes, try to disable USB debugging first,
Alternatively, format the card. Try with SD Formatter then create desired partitions with some partitioning tool. (first one FAT32, an optional (except for CM10) second ext3/ext4 and the last one is highly optional)

Disable USB debugging can't help still not working
try another ROM, it mean ishoud using OR without 2ndboot, and flash old ROM (CM6) ?
I would try SD fOrmatter
Wait for the report
I forgot to mention but I hope you know - formatting is a destructive process. Make backup.

thank to mention that, but don't wory, there no importan thin
I've just tried using CM6 without ext partition. and i can read the sdcard well.
is that posible because i chose primary partition when create ext3?
I would try to partion my sd card with logical ext partition.
owh, i've just see CM10 thread, i would download soon
One more question, :is that realy need to install gapps?
what would happen if i don't install?
Can i chose gapps just that i need from market? is the result same when i install from kabaldan gapps gave?
btw, sorry 4 my bad english
All partitions should be primary.
There is a slight posibility that Play store is installed by gapps
thanks guys..
problem solve.
I've just reflash my mey, and problem solve.
It's look like i forgot tu erase or something ike that when update from 7.2.0
BTW, its still can't read from card reader at my laptop. it's normal?
I recently bought an OTG chord.
It works fine with all devices on FAT32.
I have a seagate HDD (500 GB) which is in NTFS format.
The problem is,
1. I took a pendrive that worked well (on FAT32).
2. Then i formatted as NTFS.
3. Now it didnt mount.
4. I have root so I used "StickMount" app on playstore to force mount NTFS formated USB.
5. Now the pendrive mounted easily(even with NTFS format)
BUT my hard Drive still fails to mount!!
infact, a flickering beeping noise can be heard from the HDD (The HDD works fine on my PC)
So the question is why is that so??
Is it something like, HTC ONE OTG cannot support 500 GB??
Or flashing a kernel with ALL OTGs COMPATIBILITY will do the trick??
Has anybody successfully mounted 500 GB HDD??

If its only a usb powered drive the HO wont be giving enough power to the hdd hence the beeping noise from the drive, you could try a mains powered drive to see if that works.

Mount the card on pc using an adapter or working phone with mass storage option, then format with standard procedure (on Windows right click on removable disk and format), if doesn't work try to flash again stock JB, you can try another version if your device isn't simlocked to the carrier.

recovery.fstab is a part of the recovery image into kernel, you can't copy-paste it, you can only touch vold.fstab with root access. But this is not your problem because you have flashed stock ROM! As I said earlier: try to flash again a different version of stock JB or try downgrading to see if the problem is resolved.

Try with re-partition of your SD card. Maybe it is in ntfs format, as far I remember we do not have NTFS support out of the box (only with CoCore kernel).

First - what do you want to do? vold.fstab will swap your internal and external memory. And sure it will not help you see your SD card on PC or recovery.
I had problem with non visible SD card in recovery on GB - and solution was to partition it again.
Is not only to swap, but also to set mount points. Yes, I forget about repartition, said to format current partition in fat32 but he said that with an adapter or another device works

yeah, i don't get it this thing must be defective and very well could be since i got it from Amazon Warehouse.

I'm not sure if ntfs will work or not, I'm almost certain it will not, but I haven't tried it. I'm only suggesting fat32 because that's what mine is. When I plug it in, an icon shows in the status bar for just a split second.
Edit: Just seen your edit. I have no idea why either. I can't imagine anything being wrong with it, since it works fine on your computer? Will twrp recognize it? (If you have twrp installed)

in TWRP i assume it is not recognizing it either, but it does list USB-OTG (0MB)
there is nothing on the disc at all so twrp must just list usb-otg by default and it won't let me select it either

Just to make sure, for it to mount in twrp, you do need to have the USB plugged in before twrp boots. Twrp does list usb-otg by default. When it's working properly it will show the amount of free space in place of the 0MB.

ok yes, i definitely had it correct then. had it plugged in before going to twrp.
essentially, i bought a return at a low price off of Amazon warehouse. i don't understand how this thing could be fine in a pc or my chromebook, but it definitely will not show up on android. it must be defective. it would help if there were a light or something on the flash drive to show when its connected though.
i just tried it in my galaxy mega and it didn't show up either.
so i'll return it and try another one. i appreciate you trying to help.

Yeah I guess it might be defective. Maybe try another fat32 formatter? (Probably won't help any) I used 2Tware to format mine. Good luck anyways though!
I don't see any mention in this thread of EXFAT. I say this because I was having problems just yesterday (coincidentally) with TWRP 2.8 not recognising my OTG USB formatted as NTFS. Although TWRP showed the NTFS USB in the backup destination list, I couldn't select it. When I formatted as EXFAT, it worked in Windows, Lollipop & TWRP.
Method - Windows 10, Tools, Format - dropdown box select EXFAT.
(I believe that Stickmount provides an extension for reading & writing NTFS USB volumes, but that doesn't help for TWRP.)
Give it a go - nothing to lose...
I found I had to install Stickmount to mount my usbotg drives. I did install the supplemental files that allow ntfs and it works fine to mount/unmount external memory including an external 750Gb hard disk. [Edit] Didn't try with TWRP.
