Have you read this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356349 )? If you read and try every thing and your Xperia x8 is still Hardbricked than it probably is a hardware problem. In that case the only way to repair it is to take it to a Cell Phone Repair Shop and pay to get it fixed. As far as I know there isn't a way to repair it yourself unless you have a JTAG Box and some knowledge on electrical engineering.

what is exactly did u flash??
rooting your phone can't damaged your phone
but if u flashing wrong kernel, u can brick it

thanks for the replies, I tried everything, all the guides xda but nothing, I think it's a hardware problem, but it is strange happened when it was being updated, it is off and you are no longer on however, the strange thing is that it does nothing, it is as if the back button does not work, but it works

Can i use X8_E15_2.1.1.C.0.0_generic.7z to flash my E15a? What's the difference between 2.1.1.c.0.0 and 2.1.1.a.0.6? Which is better if im gonna root my phone? Tnx
Relax, it happened to me before. Try taking out your battery, then open PCC click on software support. Click update and when they say no phone recognised click repair phone. Once its done preparing and askes you to hold back button while inserting usb cable, you put in the battery and immediately hold back button and insert usb cable. keep holding back button until something happens. Done

I Flashed my phone using this stock rom "X8_E15_2.1.1.C.0.0_generic" and baseband "X8_E15a_2.1.1.A.0.6_Baseband_015". The result is my model number becomes e15i and it's suppose to be e15a
I've tried using PCC, sir, but it always gives me this message "There is no software available for your phone yet. Please try again"

Yes, BUT ...
If you have an UNLOCKED boot loader be sure to DESELECT everything but system.sin, data.sin, cache.sin

To flash the baseband you would need to have an unlocked boot loader.
The ROM ID is rather meaningless when you actually run on a E15a baseband. If you want to correct that "cosmetical" problem edit the build.prop and change all E15i to E15a

Guys, PCC/SEUS is plain crap. The ONLY thing it is good for is to have the drivers installed, but that's all.

I read somewhere that e15a & e15i actually have different operating radio frequencies. Ergo, you could end up with a smartphone which truly works - but without the "phone" capability

[Q] X8 Update 1.6 to 2.1 Boot-loop

I have read a couple of threads regarding 'boot-loop' but I was never successful in finding a similar problem like mine.
Whenever I update my X8 from 1.6 to 2.1, my device goes to boot-loop. It loads till I get to the main screen, then freezes, then reboots again. It goes on until the battery dies.
I used flashtool, PCC, SEUS, but to no avail, the same issue persists. Does anyone know any other way to update my phone, or fix this issue? Am I stuck to the stock ROM 1.6?
Well i suggest you to download PC Companion to update your device. Its the safest way to do it and its easy.Follow the on screen instructions.Download it from here:

When I update using PC Companion (PCC) or Update Service (SEUS/US), the update successfully applies but when I turn on the phone, it loads a bit to the main screen, freezes, then goes to a boot-loop.
The same goes when I flash the stock ROM using flashtool, the same problem persists.

From your original post , I could gather that you tried fixing with PCC/SEUS/Flashtool. But did you try to update with both PCC and SEUS ?
Did you follow the instructions carefully when updating , like when and how long to hold the back button of your X8 while updating. When to connect you X8 to the computer etc

Repairing and updating with PCC/SUES is basically the same thing. It just skips the part where the phone has to be on and mounted.
And if he didn't didn't hold the button long enough or something the process wouldn't even start.
I think the X8 is just dodgy and the best bet would be to take it to a service center.
Sent from my E15i using xda premium
Maybe Wotan would work but that costs money AFAIK.
This is actually quite a peculiar situation. I'm not sure if anybody has ever come across this before.
Its strange because FlashTool works literally 100% of the time.
Your best bet ATM would be to visit a service center or Contact Sony Online.
Best of luck

Yes sir, this is one peculiar X8. I don't know if it's a software problem.
Anyways, thanks a bunch to all those who helped! Much appreciated.

X8 Bricked..Dont worry BE happy..Solution is here

Hi Xda members,
If your mobile has bricked. do the following step. and get back ur mobile back .
TUTORIAL:

Download ROM Image X8_2.1.1 (2.1.1.C.0.0)_E15i.rar .Click here to download [URL="http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?t5jusp8gzwqth2z"]http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?t5jusp8gzwqth2z

3.Place ftf file in /firmwares directory of your flashtool.
4. Install drivers from /drivers directory
5. Prepare yourself - plug the USB cable to the computer and launch flasher.
6. Click "flash", choose your ROM from the list, Wait for instructions.
7. When the instruction pops up, press and hold "back" button on your X8 and plug the cable into it. Keep holding untill you see that flashing of files has begun(LED GREEN APPEARS) , then you may release it.
8. Flashing will take a while, you may observe the progress on a bottom bar. When it's finished you will be asked to plug off your device and reboot it.
10. If you wish to change baseband, clean firmware directory in flashtool and place baseband ftf file in it, then go through flashing procedure again.
11. If you try this correctly your phone will work again
Dont ask the question again and again.......

Hey, thanks a lot man, after bricking my phone several times and use ur guide to unbrick it. I manage to explore more bout new rom and kernel...
And why should anybody flash back to stock? If u soft brick ur phone u should just reflash the rom that ur using right now...
I guess this is only the solution for "SOFT" brick.
Does it can make phone error sometime? Or not easy to use like before? Thanks...

No error..once you flashed your phone you can get ur old ROM android 2.1.
Easy to use.No bugs....!
If u r going to install any custom rom don't forgot to root and xrecovery....

Two week ago when i played radio from an application on my device while charging it, suddenly my device reboot and reboot again...
Then i was trying reset all data but the problem still exist...

Lately, when i charge my device, it didn't reboot, but when i didn't charge the phone, on some point my device reboot and reboot again and the battery went down to +/- 2-15%
What is really happen to my device ?? Is it battery problem or RAM problem ???

Sony Ericsson X8 Bootloop
Hey I will tell you what to do.
First of all install Sony Ericsson Update Service or SEUS. Just Google it and you can find it easily!
Now connect your phone to your computer via USB cable.
Start SEUS.
Then follow the on-screen instructions.(You will be asked to select your phone model, update or repair your phone etc)But its easy!!!!!
Then leave the rest to SEUS.
It will first repair your phone, then download the stock rom and kernel and also the baseband and will automatically install them.
After that you will have your X8 on stock rom,it will be updated to the latest baseband and kernel.
Hope it works for you.

For my case, it will bootup with 1.6 stock rom, the baseband will be stated unknown, but it still can call and receive SMS...
Any rom that is above 2.1 won't be able to boot, that include stock 2.1 and any custom rom...
It only can be repaired by SE i think (or maybe JTAG )...
So in the end i gave up the phone and sold it at a cheap price to a friend and he took it to SE for repair, the phone comes back with stock 2.1 ROM
but the camera and vol button are not working, most probably damaged by the repair guy in SE...
Btw, any one knows what causes the baseband to gone like that?

Flashed X8 using X10 FTF from flashtool

Hi all!
I did a big mistake some days ago.... I was updating my X8 from GingerDX 28 to 29 and some problem occured that my X8 didn't boot anymore, so I tried to flash with SEUS and PC Companion to get back the original ROM... But they doesn't work either. So I tried to start again, but this time I did some stupid, I used the X10 ftf from Flashtool to flash my X8!!! After that, it doesn't turn on, dont even light the LED when charging or connected using USB to PC. If a press turn on button in the top, it doesn't do anything and doesn't vibrate... Connecting using USB, windows doesn't identify that my X8 is there...
What can a do? Did I kill my X8?!?!?
Sorry my english...
Mauricio
I think you hard bricked your x8, because no response to on button is sign of hard bricking.

What I can do now? It means that there's no solution?
You either hard bricked it(I don't think so) or its just out of battery.
Charge it for an hour and flash the x8 ftf this time

Your right. The only way to fix it is using JTAG. I sent to a repair shop, they did the magic! Now it is in the way back from the shop by post mail. When I get it I will tell here if it's ok.
Thank all for the replays!

Make FTF Dump From X8
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to create a dump from a X8 that is currently in use, with the phones complete data (apps + info + settings )
in effect, a nandroid for use with Flashtool ?
I am thinking of using this method in replacement of nandroids because of the recovery being stored in the system partition and I have had problems with them before - usually MD5 mismatch errors.
you have hard bricked your phone !

No?
I am looking at flashtool as a replacement to nandroid backup??
You can make flashtool .sin/.ftf files from nandroid backups. But these flashtool packages will work only with unlocked bootloader/patched loader, because you can make the .sin headers but can't reproduce the security signatures, so with locked bootloader better if you forget it...

Thanks pilu1978
I tried unlock bootloader before, using the main guide on here, but it kept bricking ?
The build is lower than the number advised to not use so I don't know what happened. I just had to keep trying, then recovering with SEUS.
Any help mate would be amazing as I am sick of being stuck on Stock 2.1-update1 and stock kernel, it limits the phones abilities so much!! argh!
hey
flash naa kernel for x8
