first at all, thanks to anyone who try to give me a hand in this one. i own a nexus one for at least 1 year now, since i got it i knew its true potential was in the features that are not available in the regular stock version. well the case is i dont know and i am not familiar with the terms that all of you the tech savys use. i've been going to every post, threat and webpage that talks about rooting nexus one, i've watched every video and for simple that looks like my experience is diferent, is a constant struggle because most all the time all of you take for granted that i know what ADP, CDM, bootloader, fastboot, and etc.. you know, all those terms means that i dont know. i dont expect someone to become a teacher in kindergarder for me, i just want someone give me a guide of how to do it in a language that a person that have tried very hard for at least 6 month can understand. call me the name you choose, but at least, dont tell me i didnt ask for help.

That's one way to stop them from asking more questions, but no, that's not true at all.

+1 That's what I meant. You can't root 2.3.3, but you can flash a rooted version of it.
i really thanks to everyone who took the time to answer, i still clueless of half of what you guys were talking about. i get it, i can root my nexus one 2.3.3. unless i unlocked the bootloader. my question is this how i do that? and simple english please.
i want to be a little more specific of the what my motives of rooting my nexus one 2.3.3. this time around. i want to be able to get superuser abilities and be able to port the music player from honeycomb. i hope this gives you a better idea of what i want and how to do it, thanks in advance
If you want to unlock the bootloader on your Nexus One, follow these steps:
**Precondition: You need to successfully negotiate a connection between your phone and the computer (adb/fastboot).
With that said,
1. Boot into fastboot mode (Power on the N1 and hold the trackball down, until you get to a white screen). Once in fastboot, connect your phone via usb to the computer.
2. Test your connection --- Open the 'tools' folder in the Android SDK folder and SHIFT + Right click and select "Open command window here". Then type the following in to verify your connection: "fastboot devices". If you get a response, then you can continue to step 3. If not, then you'll need to reinstall the SDK/usb drivers.
3. Type "fastboot oem unlock" in the command window and you should be presented by a prompt on the N1 asking if you'd like to confirm the unlocking of the bootloader. Simply select yes, and you're done.

EDIT: Here's a step-by-step guide with pictures --> http://nexusonehacks.net/nexus-one-...n-how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-your-nexus-one/
Note: unlocking the bootloader wipes all your data, so make a backup with MyBackup from the market...

How about you read the wiki first.

Read Wiki, as suggested.
First, follow the "install custom recovery" guide.
Then, download the latest SU (search Google: "chainsDD superuser zip"), flash it in custom recovery.
Does anyone really think this guy ought to be rooting when he has yet to read up on the process and terminology? FFS, he doesn't even know what most of you guys are saying.

That is exactly why he should read the wiki or any one many threads about it.

Ok i have a unlocked bootloader, running 2.2.2 and just about to update to 2.3.3 through OTA. Right now I also have root access after I used superoneclick to root android 2.2.2.
So after reading your words I believe I have all that's needed. What should I do to root my nexus one with android 2.3.3?
Thanks in advance.

If you only want the Honeycomb music player, just search for the APK (look in Nexus One Development for Music 3.0) and install it. Are you sure you want SuperUser abilities when you don't understand the terminology to root your phone? It only gets harder the more advance you go
I have a ? I read the wiki and understand the terms but I can't get into RA recovery after I flashed it ..used fastboot and bootloader is unlocked..any help? On stock 2.3.3

[Q] How to root on a Mac?

I've rooted past devices via PC but I'm currently in a Mac only household. Obviously the toolkit doesn't work and I can't find any step by step guides on how to root the One via Mac OS? Can anyone here provide directions that I could follow? Not quite a noob but this will be my first time rooting on a Mac so keep it simple! Thanks in advance to anyone that's willing to help.
I wrote a tutorial
it's in the At&T section but it works regardless of carrier

I want to Root my Note 3

I have an AT&T Note 3 and I am EXTREMELY interested in rooting. At this point, I know Im going to do it with towelroot. I'm not too sure what to do after that. Im sure this question has been posted before on this forum. (I'm new to it all) I just need a simple step by step guide on what to do after rooting. I've done the research with the pros and cons about it and I'm willing to learn more. But I have to start somewhere. Any and all help is welcomed. Thanks.

What I meant when I said step by step is, what's the very next step after rooting? Also, how to flash roms? I'm working with a mac and I can't find one YouTube video that shows how to install the rom in a mac then get it on my Note 3. Sorry if it sounds confusing. I'm so new to all of this.
PC is unneeded assuming you don't mess up, step one towel root step two install safestrap.
Step 3 Google YouTube safe strap note3 tutorial. Your done.

Towelroot and safestrap are two apps. You can have root and safestrap installed in less than 2 minutes, not hard
Use sprint

Once you have downloaded the rom you want, either transfer the rom directly to your sd card using an adapter. You can also hook the phone up to your mac using the usb and download Android file transfer for mac to move the rom form your mac to your phones sd card. Now just go to any rom you choose and read their instructions carefully before your ready to install. I used the firekat v10 rom for the att samsung gn3 and it runs great. Hope that helps some.
