[Q] Boot stall - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Long time lurker, first time poster!!
I've tried all day and night to find the answer, but am resorting to posting in these forums for help.
I upgraded my phone to A 0.290 from G 0.534.
I was successful in being able to root and unlock the bootloader.
Tried to put on CM11 using these instructions:wiped data/factory reset, wiped dalvik, format/system.
I put GAPPS and the CM11 (cm-11-20140217-NIGHTLY-honami.zip) onto the SD card.
I couldnt see them on the SD card so I pressed 'Reboot System Now'.
Now unfortunately the phone is stuck on the Sony page and is frozen.
I tried to see if I could go onto flashtool and I can - so I think there is still hope.
Can anyone provide any advise?
Cheers

If you can't access recovery to restore a backup then you'll need flashtools to flash a fw.

I just tried flashing the .290 FW again, but to no avail. Is there a reason why? Should I be trying other FW?

Solved. My apologies - should also look at stickies instead of just searches. Thx

I have broken my Ace S5830.. Aggggg

Hello
Yesterday I ROOTED my phone, and have been trying to find a way to transfer my apps to my SD Card by unsuccessfully following various Tutorials.
I got fed up and tried to do a factory reset using the CWM v5.0.2.6. I did a data/factory reset. I did not realise that the various formats of a second partition would wipe my entire SD card and the factory reset did not go well.
Since that moment my phone has continually cycled from the Samsung logo, to the flying logo and back to the Samsung logo.
However I did a backup of my SD Card yesterday and I tried to use that backup to restore my phone. But no joy.
Is my phone dead?

Try to flash another Custom ROM but first make sure you do all the wipes and then install the ROM. Again do all the 3 wipes and reboot. This might work else try to use Odin and flash your Stock ROM first and see if everything is fine. If so, then try to root your Phone and then use Link2sd to move apps to sd card
OK
This is now serious, I have royally stuffed my phone.
Could somebody please explain what Odin is and what I need to use it and get my phone to work again?
Please.

What's wrong?
Read all this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313363 I explained how to flash a stock rom via Odin It'll restore all your partitions and provide you a Oficial firmware
Original hubix's guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
I have sucessfully (?) followed a tutorial on how to use Odin and a CWN recovery TAR file. ODIN did its thing and said that I had Passed.
However the tutorial did not say what to do next. My phone is cycling through the samsung and re-boot sequence and has done so for well over an hour.
Any ideas what I do next?
Cheers

Yeah! After flashing an official firmware via Odin you may get a bootloop.
Solution: boot into stock recovery and do wipe data/factore reset and wipe cache partition
So do it always when you finish the procedure
I went to the SamMobile forum and downloaded the stock ROM for the UK and used Odin. However it was for Orange and not Virgin, who I bought my phone from The procedure worked, according to Odin.
I now have an Orange Samsung Ace.
The phone has booted up and all seems well.
Not sure if I will incur any extra charges with an Orange phone rather than a Virgin phone. But it has booted up.
What must I do to make sure this never happens again?

No extra charges.
Read read read read and...READ carefully and then READ again and finally have a usable CWM backup
Avoid hard scripts like a2sdgui use the simpest scripts that you can, that don't touch you dalvik-cache partition e.g. If you wipe data/dalvik partiuon you might get troubles with a2sd script

I now have the joy of an unrooted phone. :-/
Looks like I will have to start this merry-go-round again just so that I can get my apps off the phone and onto the SD card.

Xperia SP C5303 Bootloop Help

Hello xda community,
First I have to say I'm french so sorry for my english
I really need your help. I've bought that phone TWO days ago and it already doesn't work. Lemme explain:
- I used DooMLoRD method to Root and install CWM (C5303 model with locked bootloader).
- I installed Xperia Pureness. Wiped System, Cache, Dalvik... It worked fine.
- But i after a few hours Home button didnt work eek so I decided to reflash the rom to reload the System UI. As I used to do with my HTC Sensation, i only wiped dalvik cache and cache for the 2nd flash (ERROR). I realised after have rebooted that i should have had wiped System too.
- It didnt boot since this 2nd flash.
- I've been trying to repair it for this ENTIRE day, nothing happens (pressed red button 5 secs, 10 secs, also tried to reflashed stock .254 ftf with FlashTool...), still can't access Home...
Can you devs find a solution? I really need to repair my phone, bought it 2 day ago :crying:
PS: it doesn't matter if i loose data on my phone
Reflash ROM and dont wipe cache and dalvik If that does not work you need to restrore the backup you made, or you can restore it with my easy restore guide i just made

Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm always on bootloop, so can't even access CWM, is it still possible to flash a ROM, or access CWM? I've tried something like 10 times to reinstall stock ROM with FlashTool, still stuck at bootscreen.
I didnt think about making a backup

[Q] xperia z stuck at boot screen

Hello,
I own an Xperia Z C6603 and i was running the latest oficially available firmware before
i m quite new to all the stuff regarding flashing/rooting/unlocking etc
so today i decided to give it a shot.
now my phone is in a state that i cant use it any more.
Basically what i wanted to do is install this [BeanStalk-4.4015] custom rom. Now its stuck on the loadscreen forever.
I started with rooting the device following the description in one of the posts i found here (flashing the previous kernel with flashtool then rooting it and flashing the original latest kernel again) which worked out very well.
After that i unlocked the bootloader following another guide here in forums which went ok without any problems aswell.
As it seemed like it reset all my settings after unlocking the bootloader i reenabled the developer mode to set the USB debugging and security options for unofficial software aswell.
All went fine and i was preparing to install the custom rom so i put the zip file on my sd card entered the recovery mode and flashed the rom zip file.
It seemed all ok and the phone was restarting and its stuck in the boot screen ever since that. I tried to get it back in order by trying out various stuff i could find here on forums.
when i tried to reset the delvik cache initially i did not see any error messages or anything so i assumed that its done correctly also cleared the other caches which were listed. I was getting a bunch of errors but i assumed its because the folders could be empty as it seemed like the phone was completely reset after the bootloader unlock.
I could not get anywhere with the CWM recovery mode so i flashed MOEW kernel through flashtool. The meow kernel was mentioned in the post regarding the custom rom as viable and it included TWRP recovery so i wanted to give it a try.
First exactly the same happened when i tried to boot it normally... Stuck...
So after that i tried to mess around with the TWRP recovery which seemed a bit more complicated than CWM.
First that came to my eye was that i could not enable all the partitions (system was constantly disabled) i managed to enable it after hitting the fix permissions button a bunch of times also i started to get some error messages while trying to reset dalvik cache but none of this changed the main problem at all.
Also i m unable to access the SD card from my computer for some reason even if i enable USB teathering in CWM or TWRP.
any suggestions how to get the phone back to work ?

Hi, are you still able to connect to flashtool in flashmode? If so have you tried to flash back to stock rom?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275632
Good luck !!
Hello,
thx for your replies i m still able to access all the modes it just does not load up if i dont do anything
after i unlock the bootloader to i need to reroot the phone ?
as it seems right now to me it simply doesnt write anything when i try to flash the rom also some partitions are not available
Hello,
i managed to unbrick the phone using this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2458530
however i tried to redo all the steps following the guide to install the beanstalk rom and noticed that i m getting an error about updater package when i try to execute the installation from TWRP any ideas ?
would you suggest trying another 4.4 based rom ?
Hello again,
ok so i gave up on the beanstalk 4.4 rom and decided to try my luck with pac rom mtayabkk suggested
so now the problem is not as big as it was.
Able to get the rom to run however i m unable to import my contacts/sms/call log using titan backup
The restore seems to work but after that i m getting com.android phone has stopped error everywhere i go on my phone (the contacts/etc are actually restored in this process tho and work fine apart from the errors)
i did restore a bunch of other settings together with the contacts aswell which i found as safe to back up in a guide i found
so can you give me an advice how to properly restore this to the newest pac man rom and avoiding various errors after that ?
ps
i moved all my media to sd card so it does not concern me the only thing i cant seem to be able to move over apart from contacts/sms/call log are the APN settings which is bothering me a bit aswell as i can not receive the configuration messages from carrier but i found them on the internet and i will add them manually
trying to restore the stock backup from PC companion right now to export them again as i lost the backup in process of trying to deal with the error i was getting
would you suggest trying again with titan backup or any other tools ?

HELP stuck at sony logo!!

k so this is what happened i hve a sony xperia z1 c6902 that is on 14.4.A.0.108 rooted through this thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/stock-update-to-14-4-0-108-t2802266
i hve an unlocked bootloader
after that i tried installing a rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/rom-aicp-5-0-kk-4-4-4r2-unofficial-t2819206
so as the thread mentioned in its instructions
How to flash:
ROM has GAPPS, custom dpi & xposed persistance in between dirty flashes
Make sure you are either on any KitKat ROM (CM11, etc) or on 4.4.2 Sony based ROM and NOT on 4.3 (or older) Sony based ROM
Download the latest build
Download Gapps
Take a nandroid backup
Recommended - Full wipe and factory reset
Flash ROM using any recovery
Flash Gapps
Reboot.
Enjoy!
since i did the full wipe using TWRP by check marking everything under advance wipe ive been stuck at the sony logo
i tried re-flashing the C6902_14.4.A.0.108_Stripped.ftf file through flashtool by connecting the device in flashmode (volume down + power) flash tool seems to do it fine i'll attach a screenshot below but im still stuck at the sony logo
i cannot access my TWRP or CWM recovery as when i press the vol down button nothing happens
please help me and i'll be eternally grateful
Thank You all!
That rom requires an unlocked bootloader. Have you unlocked the bootloader? I bet not.
Did you notice in the instructions of flashing that rom that you should take a nandroid backup?
OK then, flash a stock FTF, re-root and install recovery and then restore your backup.
If you did not take a backup, you just need to flash a stock FTF, re-root, install the ROM of your choice and set it back up again

I had problem with update to 14.4.A.0.108 by NUT, with flashing ftf - when done as should be: connect when asked, flashtool threw error and had no imei and no cell radio. Then I done like so: start flashtool, conneted phone in flashmode, then hit lighting button and started flashing process - no error.
So in my case I hed to do oppsite for what you say, don't know if this is 0.9.16.1 issue or anything else but it worked for me.

[HELP]Xperia SP stuck in cyanogenmod logo after update

Hello,
I flashed CM11 yesterday and everything went alright. This morning I noticed I had an update for it and proceed to do it.
After the instalation and optimizing all apps it asked me for my simcard PIN and after I unlocked the phone it just went back to the cyanogenmod logo over and over.
I tried to reboot phone but it didn't help.
I've tried to search for similar threads but since i'm a newbie (first time I ever flashed anything) to this I decided to create this thread.
What should I do?
Thank you!
try to use flashtool. google it on how to use flashtool or check other threads.
So I guess i have to flash a stock ROM with flashtool and do it all over again right?
And btw, any reason you guys might think It got stuck in bootloop after I updated CM11? I came from a fresh stock rom. I'm kinda scared it might happen again after the reinstall.
Can't you enter recovery to flash a nandroid backup? (If you have one)
If not, you have two options to choose from.
Fastboot or flash a kernel with CWM or TWRP.
ADB push a zip file of a ROM and flash that.
Flash an FTF file using flashtool and start all over again.
There are many reasons why you're stuck in bootloop at the moment.
With the info you provided, there's no way of telling what caused it for you.
Well, i flashed stock ROM with flashtool, installed CM11 and I had no problems.
Went to settings and OTA update was available. Downloaded it and installed it, stuck in loopboot again. I just can't figure out what's wrong. My phone has bootload unlocked.
Might just do it all over and not update, is that a problem?
Don't use OTA, just download and flash updates manually using recovery.
In the future, for your ease, if this happens again just wipe the phone very clean (cache, /system, /data etc except /boot) and then re-flash the CM zip that you have.
It is a good practise if you make a nandroid backup before flashing a newer version of zip, in case of breaks. Or, you can have Titanium Backup to backup your apps automatically (pro version) everyday, so that you can be ready if there will be something bad happen.
