[Q] !!!Hard bricked GT-i9000!!!! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good morning all.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S I9000, the one day was ok and the other day was stucked in the start "Samsung Galaxy S blah blah"
When I get into recovery mode (it has the 3e android recovery) I go to wipe data/ format data, press yes, and it freezes there. Nothing more.
I tried to load the original stock firmware with Odin from the samfirmwares.com and when it reboots, it freezes on "copying media files".
Please post your ideas in a private message, or reply in the post.
Sorry for my bad english.
P.S: Wipe cache partition is being done successfully.

I dont exactly know what happened there but try get a full 3 package file for odin and also get a pit file and do a repartition. It may help you

If you can still access download mode then your phone isn't hard bricked.

@acid-fury! Which files did you flash via Odin? 1 file or 3 file method ? Also did you try Heimdall as well?

[Q] Need PIT File for SCH-I800 VZW Galaxy Tab

Does anyone have the PIT file for use with the factory VZW Firmware. I found a copy of the original firmware to load with Heimdall and can get it to basically bring up a Samsung logo and I can get to download mode only.
I have tried 512 and 513 both give the same results. I can see the device when I do an ADB devices poll and I can reboot the phone into recovery and download but recovery hangs at the samsung logo as well.
Not a full blown brick since I can talk with it and work with it, I just need the correct files to reload.
Thanks in advance!!!
Anybody?
Are there any other possibilities as to what could be the root cause if its not the partition table? suggestions for ways to test?
Major Update!!!
Used Odin 1.7 to repartition with the P1 Pit, then switched to Heimdall to load a Verizon backup posted on another forum.
After about 5 mins in heimdall load the phone rebooted and now gives me access to the recovery mode but even after a wipe and reset the phone seems to bootloop at the verizon logo.
Definitely now know that for future Verizon is running the P1 Pit or at least close to it. 512, 513, and 803 would only freeze at samsung.
Edit.
I also now have regained access to the ADB shell, before I had adb and could see the devices but Shell came back with a "cannot locate in /system/bin/su"
Anybody have any suggestions on getting passed the revolving the Verizon bootup? just loops and vibrates.
Have you made any progress on ur tab? I am in the same exact situation, everytime i flash with heimdall 1.1.0 or 1.1.1 and the verizon stock rom found in the forums, my tab gets the phone and computer yellow triangle warning, the only way i can get it out is by using odin 1.70 and either the p1_add_hdden or the 909 pit to get it back to the verizon logo but with the vibrations and looping. If anyone has a known good pit file please please post it or direct me on how to extract one from my brothers tab.
Unfortunately my nandroid backup fails the md5 when i try using odin and im missing using it sooooo much :-(. thank you in advance for any help and i just have to say i try not to post as much as possible and do all the research i can but i am hitting a wall here and ive tried for days now
I am also in the same boat. I need a working PIT file
This is what you'll have to do
1. Turn off your device
2. Hold up volume button + power button
3. As soon as you see the Samsung logo, release the power button
4. With the up and down volumne button move up and down on the menu and select wipe data/factory reset option
5. Then press home
6. Finally, wait until it finish and select the reboot system now option and then press home
1. Make sure you have the drivers installed. If not search and download the Heimdall application and extract contents to a directory and look for the drivers directory. Then select Samsung USD composite device and then Install the driver.
2. You'll need to search for the correct stock file for youtr tab, then load it using the Heimdall program, follwing this instructions:
- The zImage goes in both the Kernel AND Recovery slot.
- The system.rfs goes in Factoryfs
- The Param.lfs goes in Param.lfs
- And the cache goes in the cache slot.
3. Finally hit Start
4. When it finish, you got to follow my post above
Bump for this thread. I need to restore my tab and need a working pit file. Anyone figure this out?
I'm in the same boat, got my tab jtagged and now need working Verizon .pit file to repartition. Has anybody got one yet?
Me too, somebody help me to find .PIT for verizon galaxy tab 7
BUMP... dl mode works heimdall flashes correctly but even after recovery mode cache and data wipe it still bootloops with the triple vibrate cant get past it... i assume it has something to do with the partitions from rfs to ext4 sooooooooo please can someone find a working cdma pit file
I'm in the same boat as you guys, really need a valid verizon pit file after a bad flash. Any help would be much appreciated!!

If you can go to Recovery mode, try if you can successfully do a factory wipe. If you see error messages while doing factory wipe. Please include it to you post.
Please also specify what version of android you had last.
Download heimdall 1.3.1 then install. You can down pit file from it.

Galaxy note stuck at welcome screen

I know this is a wide issue on many devices, but i could not find one for the Galaxy Note.
So here it is (and sorry if the answer is allready out there):
i tried to root and it got stuck on bootscreen (the samsung logo). I have figured out (or atleast i thing) that the OS is missing, or something like that. So i downloaded it from a forum page here on XDA. The thing is i can't figure out how to put it on the phone. I tryed using ODIN. Any clue of an easy way to do this?
i have a problem cz i did PIT with u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit
and now my phone is stuck but i still can enter download modem and odin read the phone
Thanks in advance
i have N7000JPKK2
Ok so what you do is put sgn pit file in pit in odin choose stock firmware and after flash a cf root kernel which has custom recovery through odin after flashing is done press volume up+home+power button it will load recovery from there select wipe data/app and advance, wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions and then it will boot normally..

[Q] Samsung galaxy S locked on download mode after install cyanogen and cf-root

Hi everyone,
I made a mistake
I installed cyanogen on my galaxy s, when i booted it worked perfectly.
So i needed to install google apps. I didn't understood the process and i used odin to reinstall the cf-root CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVO-v3.2-CWM3RFS.tar
But now the phone is on download mode and impossible to back to recovery mode.
I tried to remove and replace the battery ... but nothing change, the phone is locked on download mode.
Thanks for help me recover the last backup!
i found the solution by:
reinstalling kernel speedmod-kernel-k16-11-Odin
and GT-I9000_XEF_1_20110525163319 rom
the phone is booting now but i have probleme during boot.
i turn in recovery mode and see that /dbdata is inaccessible. After spent a lot of time on the net, i found some solutions:
re-partition with pit file and flash rom again, wipe data/factory reset. But when i wipe factory reset, i have this message:
E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/stl10
Any help should be nice
Dont' do factory reset just Flash 3 file stock rom (phone, pda, csc) in odin with pit 512 & re-partition checked.
Get files from SamFirmWare - search in Google for link.
I found I had to flash the 3 files a second time. The 2nd time flash without checking repartition and don't flash the pit file (so just flash phone, pda, csc).
Once you have done this you should be able to do factory reset & clear cache etc.
Thanks for reply!
I realised that i didn't found the right file. After spending some time to search, i finally found the good file and i could flash with the 3 files.
- i turn on my phone in download mode
- installed the CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVZ-v4.3-CWM3RFS with odin
- format everything i could (i think i didn't have to ...)
- restart the phone in download mode
- install the 4 files (PIT 512, PDA, PHONE and CSC) with odin
Then the phone restarted correctly.
Ok i losted all my datas but it was not really important, the most important for me was to get my phone working.
Now everything working fine.
Glad I could help

[Q] Odin stuck on "data.img" i can not flash a firmware and Note Semi Died (Help)

[Q] Odin stuck on "data.img" i can not flash a firmware and Note Semi Died (Help)
Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help me, I accidentally interrupted a factory resect and from this moment I can not flash with Odin .. in detail ....
I can do:
1a I can successfully flash a firmware with Odin with only one file
2a I can successfully flash a kernel with Odin
3a I can go to recovery, any, either Samsung or CWM 3E recovery if i flash to CF-Root Kernel
4a I recorey files from flash, cooked and kernels.
I can not do:
1b I can not flash with success with Odin firrmware with more file and Pit, Odin stuck on "data.img"
2b I can not restore a backup nandroid, because I get I get the following errors:
Error while restoring / date!
E: Can not open / chace / recovery / log
E: Can not open / chace / recovery / log
E: Can not open / chace / recovery / last _log
E: Can not open / chace / recovery / last _log
3b I can not load the system, i can not turn on the Notes, only sometimes into Boot loop and other time stuck on written "Notes Galaxy Samsung GT-N7000"
Other problems:
- If I make the point 1a after the phone sometimes goes directly into Boot loop, other time go to 3E Samsung recovery and I get the following errors:
"And: failed to mount / data (Unknown error: 0)"
"E: install_application_for_customer: Can not mount / data"
"Your storage not prepared yet. Please use UI menus for format and reboot actions."
"copy application failed"
Even doing a full wipe, restarting the Notes, remain on "Notes Samsung Galaxy GT-N7000"
- If I make the point 4a flashing cooked, the flash apparently successfully, but at reboot Note stuck on written "Notes Galaxy Samsung GT-N7000"
I'm desperate, I do not know what else to do to revive my Note...
I hope someone can help me...
Really Thanks
Ps. Sorry for my bad English
Try this,
download abyssnote 3.9 kernal and put it on external sdcard somehow (maybe by taking the sd card out and using a card reader.
boot into recovery, flash the abyss note kernal, go to advanced in recovery and reboot recovery,
now try restoring the nandroid backup u have.
See if this helps..
Edit: or you can download a stock firmware in .tar format, put it in PDA(in odin) see if it flashes successfully,
you can use the firmware in this post, download the three files from mirror 2 and read instruction to join them, and flash it in Odin PC

Hi dead-angel
thanks for your answer and for your help..
i had flash abyss 3.9 (RedPill Recovery) and after i make restore of nandroid backup but nothing of good..
the restore was interrupted and i get this error:
Error while restoring / date!
E: Error in / chace / recovery / log
(read-Only file system)
i wanna also try your second suggestion, but some link are not available
anyway i have just tryed so many time to flash with odin I can successfully flash a firmware with Odin with only one file the phone sometimes goes directly into Boot loop, other time go to 3E Samsung recovery and I get the following errors:
"And: failed to mount / data (Unknown error: 0)"
"E: install_application_for_customer: Can not mount / data"
"Your storage not prepared yet. Please use UI menus for format and reboot actions."
"copy application failed"
Even doing a full wipe, restarting the Notes, remain on "Notes Samsung Galaxy
GT-N7000"
while I can not flash a firmware with success with Odin and more file and Pit, Odin stuck on "data.img"
frustrating situation
Your Welcome
Try the mediafire links from that second suggestion, Im sure they work, and that shows up as single file in Odin, It should flash if single file fashing works in your PC odin
If mediafire is blocked in your country or by your ISP, try any Proxy bypass site to access the mediafire.
Best of luck mate
Ok, thanks Again Angel

Hello everyone
I am having a similar problem: I wanted to downgrade my Note to stock GB because I lost root on an ICS leak. I have done this successfully before but today pc odin suddenly hangs in the middle of flashing the factoryfs.img of a stock kernel (I used this one but tried others as well: N7000XXKJ4_N7000VD2KJ1_N7000XXKJ4_HOME.tar.md5).
Because of this I can now only boot the phone into download mode. I have also tried to use a pit file (as you can see in the screenshot, where I used this file: Q1_20110914_16GB.pit), because I thought the partitions might have been corrupted or changed by the ICS ROM but this didn't help either.
Do you have experienced this before? What else could I try?
Thanks a lot for any help
suxi
Edit: I have tried this (quote below)from a different post and odin still hangs after the first 1mm of factoryfs.img flashing
http://hotfile.com/dl/141060546/b0c7...1_OXA.rar.html
download this firmware, it's gonna take awhile but worth a try..
try flashing this rom using PC odin.
pit: Q1_20110914_16GB.pit
pda: CODE_N7000XXLA1_CL868264_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.m d5
phone: MODEM_N7000XXLA1_REV_05_CL1093393.tar.md5
csc: GT-N7000-MULTI-CSC-OXALA1.tar.md5
check re-partition, auto reboot, F. reset time.
let me know if it works!

Samsung Galaxy S GL-I9000 is not booting up after flashing

Hi,
First of all I'm pretty new to this forum and really don't know this is correct thread to post this or not. This forum is kinda huge
Here is my problem,
I have Samsung Galaxy S GL-I9000. After 6-7 months of use suddenly it got very slow and throwing error on installed application could not able to start (Force Close) randomly.
So I decided to do factory reset. I tried to format internal 16GB SD card, it was showing done but i could see the 4.3 GB occupied there. I factory reset option from the menu (forgot where) and it did not solve the problem.
I also tried to clear the Cache and Partition by 3-button combinations, again no use and decided to flash the ROM with available ROM.
I looked into XDA and found one and flashed it, but after flashing it is showing the samsung glowing logo and thats all, nothing is coming up.
I have Odin, Heimdall and bought the jig as well.
Please help me to make my phone in working condition. Any good ROM is fine for me don't need any fancy stuff right now.
Thanks in advance
Sudipta
you in something that calls BOOTLOOP you can fix it with the ODIN
tray to flush the STOCK ROM with the ODIN again
I tried to flash several times, and last 2 times I flashed with Phone EFS clear, Phone Boot Loader Update and Re-partition option selected.
Don't have any idea what else could be tried there. Can you please be specific?
Try clearing data, cache and dalvik and then flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117579
Thanks for your reply. Can you please tell me how to clear delvik?
I think data and cache can be cleared by going into reset screen by pressing 3-button combination.
Thanks in advance
Download stock rom for your phone from sammobile.
Then download odin for the phone again with pit file. It should have 512 pit file.
Now copy eveything on your internal sd card into a file on your pc.
Once done open odin, select pit512, and the three files of your stock rom ( phone, pda, csc) and check repartition. Make sure kies is not running. Now put phone into download mode and connect to usb, once phone connected to odin click start.
If still in bootloop try a second flash with same rom. This time don't check repartition and don't select the pit file. Select only phone, pda & csc.
If the stock rom you download only has one file put pit512 in pit and then file into pda although i think it is preferable to have the three file stock rom if possible.
Alternatively search for darkyrom resurrection in google and follow tutorial and downloads from the resurrection thread. That way the download has everything you need and darkyrom is a great custom stock rom

Jw5 rom from samfirmware is the latest.extract on your PC.password is samfirmware.com
Odin is very sensitive.so follow these steps
1. close kies
2.open odin
3.set files in Odin
4.turn phone off.remove battery, put it back in,use 3 button combo to get into download mode and connect phone to your PC.
5.wait for the Odin to recognize your phone(3-5 sec) and flash
6.don't remove phone until it is fully rebooted.this can up to 10 min.
And Done
Remember always to flash with full battery(100%)

never mind about the Dalvik; don't listen to me, i wasn't thinking straight when i posted.

Sammobile is free you just need to register but it is free

Well sammobile can be a pain. Try googleing stock Roms for I9000 and find different downloads. Find a rom with sbl at the end of it. And put the files in there spots in Odin. You can put the pit and repartition if you want but its not a must. Good luck
