[Q] intel device Asus Fonepad has kitkat - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
because the Asus Fonepad has kitkat and is an Intel soc as well, can we use that as a base to get Kk on the RAZR I?
kitkatjellybeanupdate.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/upgradeupdate-asus-fonepad-to-44-kitkat.html?m=1

Hello, before asking a question, the minimum is to read what have been already said about that...
Just one indication... Take a look of the name of the atom inside and from the motherboard etc and take a look of what is inside the razr i and what has been said about porting 4.4 rom... (audio sond problem and motorola blob)

Well this is still first x86 phone with KitKat - it probably isn't going to change a lot for us, for sure not binaries, but maybe some sources can help. When cm11 will be ported and optimized on x86 and this Asus it can also help.

I'm pretty sure this is a fake website, since there is NO thread on xda about a kitkat update for this tablet.

Trying to port CM10

Hey guys,
I plan to port CM10 to this device. I have heard about several problems related to the Intel CPU including Moto libs, drivers, etc.). Anyone who tried that already, can you please report your exeriences here?
I guess a good starting point would be to rebuild several libs, trying to run the CM Framework "on top" of the Moto "baserom". Can still follow my point? Sorry, I don't speak enough English to explain my plan more detailed..
Did Moto already release Rom sources? As I heard the kernel source was released so Matt was able to unpack the kernel, am I right?
Thanks in advance!!
Kernel sources
Moto already released the kernel sources. You can find the in github
http://sourceforge.net/projects/razr-i.motorola/files/razr-i/
As far as i know, devs had been tryng to use the sources, but there's always build problems.
Although, i dont know anybody that have tried with the 9.8.2I-50_SMI-26 kernel, supposedly of Jelly Bean.
I cant help you much more, im not a dev ):
i wish u could bring Cyanogenmod to the Razr i.....theres not much i can help with, but i wish you luck!!
By the title, I tought it really was a CM10 ROM ready to be downloaded... oh well, i'll keep searching...

Sorry for confusion here. But there is nor CM10 for this device out there. That's why I want to do this.

Well... you can use the french Jelly Bean firmware as the base for CM10... it's rolling right now!
Please change the title so that it is not misleading.
All needed files for a running x86 motorola jb rom should be found here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/razr-i.motorola/files/razr-i/9.8.2I-50_SMI-26/
AW: CM10 port
This will take a while... I have to work on other projects too. This project is difficult as I'm working almost blind... No RAZR I device.
The Moto jb could be a solution..
Someone has sent me a PN to tell me about this update. I have to apologize because I thought he was talking about the RAZR.

Hello !
Bought a razr i few days ago to replace my old Xperia x10 that I'll keep to continue dev cm10 and other stuffs on it...
Think I'll be able to port cm10 on razr but it'll take time....started working on razr JB rom. The whole framework needs to be modded and maybe the kernel ramdisk...then it'll be a "simple" port with "cm look "
But... If razr i device sources can be available then a real cm10 build from sources could be done.
Read things have been already done for that by turl1

Check with hiemanshu. He has an almost working Liquid Smooth, shouldn't be too different and a good starting point, I imagine.
Just a few news about cm10 compiling ...
Had a little free time and managed to download sources from motorola, implement them in cm10 sources ... and fixing few errors ...
Started a build with Motorola instructions ...
Facing few problem with toolchain that are different for x86 ... didn't had time to go further .
Will post again later to tell you about progress ... if there are some

Anyone knows how this phone make the boot up?.... Maybe i could help a little bit in Dev department

Am I right? You want theme the stock rom that it looks like CM10? That is not a port and no CM10. There chooser won't work then and some other stuff too.
I think we should try working together to bring this project up to work. What do you think?

Good news! Usual tool chain won't work with Intel architecture... But I guess it could work with gcc/normal make by just editing the makefiles - if you want to build the whole rom it should be OK with some modifications. What do you think about working together?

Hello!
Yes with gcc/normal make it works with cm roms I use brunch command which works too
Took turl1's repo as base for the device and build environnement is ok.
Now it needs Motorola stuffs... The build stopped cause there are no include yet.
Will update my repo with what I've done so that we could work together
And yes building from sources is the best way to get better things

Thank you. It is cool
First, they upgrade us in 4.2.2, this will be a start
With this power, I certainly hope so!
a chance is there but i dont think moto. will bring any new update for our device.
but if there are many new devices with x86 intel cpu we get a good chance to get new updates which are portable to our device.

im curious about which drug you guys used, can you tell me?
theres nothing but 4.2.2 for now, and nothing indicates the next version will be more than 4.3, so i doubt any device that doesnt come from factory with the jellybean 4.2 will have something like 5.0 when it becomes real.
^ +1
Someone here on xda wrote, that Google starts a stock android for x86 processors.
So if android 4.3 is x86 ready, we will get the update in autumn.

Well, on the las google conference they said: all the new firmwares gonna be developed for x86 and arm proccesors at the same time
And there is a new information of Key Lime Pie
There is a rumor that the android 5.0 its been developed for work with 512 mb of ram, so it gonna wake up the development for all the phones, an there is gonna be a samsung tablet with x86 ibtel proccesor, so, i think we gonna have at least 2 more official update and much more custom roms
We only have to wait

Yes I read this too. Google made some comment about delaying the next version to allow more updates to Jelly Bean first. The stats suggest that that's succeeding.
I'm happy with how fast we got Jelly Bean. I think our device is well placed for the next version (very, very few devices have 4.1.2 as far as I'm aware). We have a thin 'skin' of Android, powerful device and a manufacturer that's keen to please.
Motorola...???...Update...???...MUHAAAAA...no way, never ever...we have to buy a new moto device to get 4.3 or 5.0...

You all right, I also hope for 5.0, but it is >18 nonths; which is a kind of red line in Google update policy, isn't it?

yes it's true.
Cool
Thanks guys for all the answers. Anyone know any more news please post here.
Another point to remember is that not all users are unlocked their phones so the service providers will also be a stumbling block / hindrance for any upgrades as we have all seen in the past
I have read that 5.0 may be released in late October.

ROM Porting

May I ask which device can we port ROMs from?
It must have the same CPU (ARMv7) and stuff (just another similar phone).
Can we port ROMs from the Samsung Galaxy SIII with the Snapdragon S4 CPU (ours is slightly different though)?
Thanks! I might try to port ROMs but we need a deodexed stock ROM first
Sent from my C5303 using xda premium
Or maybe even the XiaoMi 2A (for MIUI) as it has the exact same CPU, resolution and GPU as our device.
Sent from my C5303 using xda premium
We have already a deodexed rom bro.
From Xperia SP 4G By a Big NooB
I am really noob in rom development but i know that Xperia V has the same screen resolution as our phone and the 8960 CPU but different GPU and Camera... Maybe you can port roms from the xperia v...
Building from source is much better than porting
If no ones around when I get my device (early august) I'll start working on CM10 for this device.
I've built CM10 for my nexus 7 but of course it's nowhere near as hard because the device trees and patches are already done for you, but I think I can handle it (< I've used linux for years and i'm very experienced with it and building software with it, also followed CM development for another device closely)

[Q] Is there any Kitkat X86 Phone out there?

Hi there,
I am on my way porting kitkat to our beloved Razr I. There is not much progress so far, as I started from a mostly fresh product environment a lot of work has to be done with much time consuming testing (The build system is really slow and not everything can be tested without rebuilding the rom).
A bit of a showstopper seems to be the precompiled binaries we need. They are compiled against some JellyBean Android system libraries and are not compatible. Instead of adding to the Kitkat-Libs I really would like to use vendor blobs compiled against Kitkat... Does anybody know of a firmware image of any X86-atom 4.4 Phone?
Development thread and github sources will be published within the next few days - but I still need 9 more posts to get access to that board
Hey there, maybe. . . can help this one?
H t t p: //software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-atom-x86-image-for-android-4-4-kitkat-installation-instructions-manually
Its no Image of a phone but for developing in emulation-environment
Maybe its more practical to get fixed the things for 4.2.2 first?
Enviado desde mi XT890 mediante Tapatalk
Agree. As I know there is no single x86 phone with KitKat. It would be great if we could have 4.4 but I don't know if there is chance for it - not yet.
Cyanogenmod could give our phone new live, even with Android 4.2. It would be great if anyone with proper knowledge and abilities could help in building and resolving bugs in 4.2 build.

[Q] Android L?

Will our get Android lollipop through Cyanogenmod?
I doubt it as we can't even get the official KK bootloader which may or may not be required for Lollipop.
I tried Android L on my Nexus 4 and didn't really like the new interface.

Im actually quite content with my custom rom kitkat with the Gem Flat skin on top of it. (really quite stable just ui crash twice per week).
But then the unthinkable thing happens with one of the oldest moto droid devices went from ICS to Kitkat without any official updates due to alot of developers.
Anything is possible

I guess its standard to question if we will see something BEFORE THE ACTUAL PUBLIC RELEASE HAPPENS AND BEFORE CYANOGENMOD, WHICH IS NOT MOTOROLA, GETS THEIR HANDS ON IT TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO ABOUT PUSHING IT OUT TO OUR DEVICES.
Btw, as far as that bootloader point goes, ask yourself this, do the older devices that got left behind on GB or ICS need updated bootloaders to run KK? B/c i can guarantee i can grab my Atrix 4G or my Droid X and see KK running on both of them with GB bootloaders.

Is this a signal?
I Think, yes.
Because, this night, someone did an Android L ROM For the HTC Evo 3D [POST]
I Remember, this phone has come to the world running GB, well, ROM Is still buggy, but see, that device more older than Atrix HD, I Don't know if that device has an ''updated'' bootloader [like bootloader for ICS or JB], But i think this would be a great news for this device.
I Already tried Lollipop on a Nexus 4 [Is the official update], an i really liked it. i think is better than KK, [ppl comming here and spammin' ''KK Is better'' in 3.... 2.... 1.....]
If HTC EVO 3D Has Lollipop, Our Atrix HD's can have Lollipop too :victory: , the only thing we need is hope, and a brave developer.
and please sorry about my bad english~ :silly:
Maybe.

our devices upgrade has to do with more than kernels I need to backport some ion commits to the new qcom branches lot of guess work to what is needed and what isn't. Basically have to make a custom qcom folder for jbbl. As for the kernel there are lots of ways to get this right but it will need lots of time and testing.
