so can i convert backup files to be used on other valid app
Hmm.. I don't know.. The way I know is,
Go back to stock, restore the backup, make a nandroid backup using cwm recovery, install the new rom, use titanium backup to restore. Keep in mind that data of system apps from touchwiz cannot be restored to omni or cm. So for those use apps like sms backup and restore.

Now i'm in miui rom, but i want to install cm7 or stock rom.
There is any way to restore a backup done with mini backup in another rom different from miui?
Titanium Backup?
Yes, but the problem of titanium backup is that when you are restoring the backup you ned to install manually the apps, and miui backup does it automatically.
Titanium had a batch option, so you can just tell it to restore and then let it do it's work...
actually it may break your system if you restore system settings onto another version of Android.

well, i used to have stock FRG83d(Froyo) on Nexus one. Then i tried flashing CM 7.0.3 and used it to recovery settings. i can recovery anything but system settings. If I restore system settings and reboot, the laucher will suffer from a FC loop.
Im backup nandroid with CWM then flash a new rom, after im flash new rom then i backup data from nandroid in CWM,is it restore all data of your phone(all setting, market acc and all app...)?Is it restore version of rom too?

you should not restore one roms data to another one as it will also restore system data too which can cause abnormal issues like wifi/Bluetooth not working or else
you need to set system data manually and you can restore user data with titanium backup
use Titanium Backup to backup apps..when you flash a new rom, just restore apps from Titanium Backup....thats it.......just apps, not apps and data.
if you want to backup rom, then you go with CWM
How can I make a complete backup from my installed apps and settings?
I would like to install a new ROM and I do not want to lose my settings.
Go to CWM and backup menu there backup..
You can restore it latter after experimenting other roms if u want to, directly from CWM, same backup menu and restore..
Here the full system and apps and all data is backed up to sd-card.
Here you want require to flash the rom just restore.. and ya if you hav unlocked bootloader and use rom with custom kernel then flash the kernel and then restore..
These is a full rom backup..
Or get titanium backup from playstore..
Here you need to flash the rom and then restore from the app, after instaling the app..
These backup can be restored on any rom from the app..
Hello,
I recently migrated from gingerbread 2.3.3 (DarkyROM) to mackay 4.2.2 ROM. I made nandroid backup with CWM before I flashed mackay ROM and also full backup with Titanium Backup Pro. Everything went well all except restoring contacts. After I flashed mackay ROM I realized that they weren't synchronized with Google account. I've tried to restore them with titanium backup pro, but it didn't make any difference.
Now I have TWRP which can't see 2.3.3 nandroid I've made with CWM. My guess is that the solution is to switch to CWM, sync contacts to google, switch back to TWRP, restore nandroid of 4.2.2 ROM and then sync contacts from Google server again.
However, I have no idea how to do that.
Please help, it's pretty urgent.
Thanks!
Have a look at the McKay kernel thread for the flashable McKay settings app and use that to switch between the cwm and twrp recovery

Thanks, I actually got to CWM. However, are you sure I can just restore 2.3.3 GB? Because when I migrated from 2.2.3, I had to install CM9 before CM10.1 in order to avoid IMEI loss.
So I flashed CM11 on my dads phone, first taking a backup of the rooted stock that was on there. Now when I restore the backup (after full wipe) It freezes and crashes all the time!. It seems as soon as I touch the phone it stops responding to my touch. However the phone still makes the bubble/water sounds when i hit menu key. Please, please help since this is my dads phone.
Samsung TW based roms stock some apps in the /preload partition so did you use Philz recovery to make nandroid backup and check include preload (located in restore and backup => misc nandroid settings )?
if not then your backup is incomplete and flashing stock rom via odin3 is the best way to revert back.

Ah, my backup doesn't include preload. If I reverted to stock via Odin, would I still be able to restore just data?

After flashing using Odin, rooting using Philz kernel to get cwm, you can do an advanced restore of just data. It might not restore 100% data but should restore enough.
PS. Preload is only used if you had JB earlier.
