you should not restore one roms data to another one as it will also restore system data too which can cause abnormal issues like wifi/Bluetooth not working or else
you need to set system data manually and you can restore user data with titanium backup
use Titanium Backup to backup apps..when you flash a new rom, just restore apps from Titanium Backup....thats it.......just apps, not apps and data.
if you want to backup rom, then you go with CWM

Hi there!
I'm thinking about flashing the new baseband, but I don't want my internal storage to get wiped. I'm thinking about making a nandroid backup from my actual setup, then flashing the new baseband, and then restore the previously made backup.
What do you think? Would it restore the old baseband too, or it would work as I want it to work (it restores the ROM, but doesn't restore the baseband)?
thx

go ahead i wil say. nandroid backup first, den flashing ur baseband and restore ur nandroid backup. it will not return to ur old baseband.
Don't forget after restoring the nandroid backup to flash the appropriate RIL that goes with the baseband. Then you are all set!
I can comfirm, flashed new baseband yesterday then nandroid backup and it stays whit the new one.
If you're on CM7, remember to flash CM7 again after the nandroid restore or it won't boot.

The nandroid backup (backup from CWM), creates a backup of the ROM + all you data. Therefore once you flash a new ROM, recovering from CWM will cause the new flashed ROM to be reverted back to ROM you had backed up.
If I understand correctly you want to flash a new ROM and keep the apps you have on the original ROM.
If that is what you want to do, then you need a backup application to backup your apps, then restore them to the new ROM.
I suggest you try Titanium Backup, here's the free version (however it needs root access):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en
-You need to have your SXL rooted first
-Install Titanium Backup on your current ROM
-Backup your apps and data to your SD card using TBackup
-Flash the custom ROM
-Install TBackup on the new ROM
-Restore your apps+data from TBackup
Enjoy!
How can I make a complete backup from my installed apps and settings?
I would like to install a new ROM and I do not want to lose my settings.
Go to CWM and backup menu there backup..
You can restore it latter after experimenting other roms if u want to, directly from CWM, same backup menu and restore..
Here the full system and apps and all data is backed up to sd-card.
Here you want require to flash the rom just restore.. and ya if you hav unlocked bootloader and use rom with custom kernel then flash the kernel and then restore..
These is a full rom backup..
Or get titanium backup from playstore..
Here you need to flash the rom and then restore from the app, after instaling the app..
These backup can be restored on any rom from the app..
after flashing my mob with [Rom][4.4.2][Team D.I.R.T] Dirty Unicorns v6
kies can't detect my mob and i can't restore my back up
i used last version of kies
The rom you flashed is not a Samsung rom..

so can i convert backup files to be used on other valid app
Hmm.. I don't know.. The way I know is,
Go back to stock, restore the backup, make a nandroid backup using cwm recovery, install the new rom, use titanium backup to restore. Keep in mind that data of system apps from touchwiz cannot be restored to omni or cm. So for those use apps like sms backup and restore.
Hi... If I do a nandroid backup then relock my boot loader, flash an ruu then restore the backup, will it restore my device to before the lock and flash? If so how would I back-up so that it doesn't do that?

If you make a nandroid and want to keep it you will need to copy it to your PC before running the RUU. And then copy it back to your internal storage afterwards as the Ruu will wipe your internal storage.
Restoring the nandroid would restore your ROM and apps to as it was before but you will still have the updated firmware. If your old rom and new rom are on the same base i.e both lollipop roms you can restore just the Data partition from your nandroid without effecting the new rom. But this is not recommended it updating from kitkat to lollipop.
You can also use titanium backup to backup your data then restore it to your new rom once you've finished updating. But again you will need to save your titanium backup folder to your PC before using the ruu.
In short if your updating from Lollipop to newer version of lollipop. You can use the Restore Data only from nandroid method.
Kitkat to Lollipop Titanium Backup would be best.
