When I went into this menu *#*#4636#*#* I go into phone then selecting network mode.
You will see it says LTE and loads of others.
Can any dev confirm if this phone is LTE capable please. Thanks

If i remember correctly the nexus 4 also had this on same menu but never had LTE but then the LTE modem was released thus enabling it. All other non lte devices do not have lte listed under this menu. That's a fact I look in this menu on hundreds of devices.
Don't think they do LTE. What model s3 mini do you have?

Also a little note. If i Select LTE/GSM/CDMA AUTO then come off the menu and go bk in again it stays at what I set it too
AFAIK the S3 Mini is not LTE compatible.

I have had it on LTE/GSM/CDMA AUTO now for a good few hours. I used bittorrent client for android to download a 720p film from yify torrents site. Same file so was the same 829mb size for both downloads.
On normal network ( wcdma ) I had a average DL speed of 1,2mbps
But on the LTE selected band I had not a huge jump increase it wa averaged at 1.4mbps so there is n obvious speed increase but that could be for a different reason. I will go head and use apeedtest.net and post results after.

No just a H but now and then for. Very few seconds it shows a H+ but that's only if I toggle data on and off really. In my nexus 4 it does not show a LTE icon when in 4g it only shows H+.

Piskor look at gsmareana at nexus 4 it says no LTE BUT nexus 4 DOES have LTE thanks to a hybrid modem so them websites mean nothing
Not to ruin you day Lol but the nexus 4 was said to never get LTE either but it has got it thanks to great developers. I might take my phone apart and take a closer look at the hardware components. Also if that was true why is my phone able to select the LTE band and not only that it stays on that LTE band even if I reboot. So it recognises that the user selected the LTE band and it changed to it also I just found out o2 does not use 4g so I will try again with my contract EE sim and check again and give another update

Try to choose "LTE only" and you will see, what will happen Nothing Menu returns to "WCDMA preffered" (in my case)
Nexus 4 is completely different thing. There must be flashed the hacked modem, there must be set different APN
And something about your speed result http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/744650636
It's nothing special. You obtained only 6.59Mb/s / 2.33Mb/s but our phone on 3G is capable to operate with HSDPA 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
<EOT>
The NovaThor U8500 system-on-a-chip on S3 Mini doesn't have LTE support so it's impossible for LTE to function on our devices

first off you need to be on stock sprint rom or base for this to work. also it will work on bad esn phones
1. You should be rooted
2. Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm
3. Run Terminal Emulator
4. Type "su" (excluding quotation marks) and grant it superuser permission
5. Type "am start com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity" (excluding quotation marks)
6. You will get menu on your HTC
7. In that menu, select "API", then scroll down 'till almost end and select "simlock"
8. Reboot the phone and hopefully it would accept GSM SIM
9. Enter *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer
10.In the phone information section(the first one) set preferred network type to something that is GSM specific: "WCDMA Preferred", for example. The phone will switch to GSM mode

which means that in areas where ATT uses 850mhz for HSPA(3g/4g) you will not get anything but edge/2g at best. And in areas where TMO uses AWS for 3g/4g... you will not get anything but edge/2g.
In areas where ATT has 3g/4g on 1900mhz you will be able to use it. And if TMO has 3g/4g on 1900mhz you will be able to use it.

TMobile sims seem to work better for some reason.
Make sure you have GSM Data checked in the network settings. Then you should be able to scan for networks.. see ATT listed.. click on ATT and it will try to register.

that app your referring to is the same menu as going into *#*#4636#*#*
also, HSPA, LTE, GSM, etc is not the band type, its a network type.. by Band type I mean LTE: Bands: 1/3/4/7/17/38/40, which is also another way to describe radio frequency
as you can see in the first pic of my first post, in the Samsung device, it shows Band 4
but my question was for mindblizzard,

That's all fine and dandy, but it's not like your carrier is operating multiple frequencies that you're likely to see ever. Maybe if you live in an incredibly dense population center, but even then... Perhaps I'm missing something.

Fair enough, if you have LTE already, and they are simply deploying a new frequency, you likely won't notice any change, to any of the service. Speeds don't increase between bands, the only reason a carrier deploys a new band, is to fight radio interference from other carriers. Given the cost of a single radio, carriers generally only deploy these new radios in VERY congested areas. Meaning, that in a city that has, say 15 towers, 2-3 of them would actually get the upgrade, in the area that suffers from the most interference. (You have to bear in mind, that a full tower build, requires 6 radios, each radio costing about $18,000 for the radio, another $1000 for the antenna, another $500-1500 for the power supply and cabling. They don't just "upgrade" an entire area, it takes too long to recoup costs)

Ah my mistake, i had in my head he meant to check for bands in the area which he can use with the 'unlocked' frequency mod..for some reason. My total mistake!
However what i meant with what i said when i get my 4g is that i can confirm that the unlock mod will enable band 20 since our OPO is restricted/doesnt support it by default. The band app would be good though!
Hello everyone,
For the longest time I was not able to get LTE connection on my Note 4 international variant (N910F). I called T-Mobile about it, since I knew the phone had the capabilities to connect, and T-Mobile told me that I should have bought their phone if I wanted LTE, and that they could not help me.
Giving up all hope on LTE connection, I started installing roms to see what cool features where out there. I installed several different roms, and still I had no LTE (not that I was thinking of getting it). Then I installed CM12 and LTE appears! I check the speeds and indeed I was connected to LTE on T-Mobile line. Everything was great until I found out CM12 has three great bugs that I cannot live with: 1) No apps to SD possibility and 2) Access to the camera, from any app, crashes. I have to reopen the app a second time for the camera to function (Messenger has no access at all) and 3) Various app crashes.
So I returned to stock rom, but I miss the features of a custom rom (especially ViPER) and LTE. I tried other roms but I can't find any with LTE working.
Do you know what part of CM12 enables LTE? And if I can flash it into another more stable custom rom?
Thanks
With stock formware on N910F, the LTE icon is displayed as 4G. Try checking your connection again by going to Settings>About Device> Status... then under Mobile Network type.. you can see if you are actually connected to LTE.. There is also an app called Network Signal Info on play store. Good luck

On international phones, LTE signal is represented by 4G icon. So if you see 4G on your phone, it's actually LTE. You were already getting LTE in the first place. You did not have to flash roms and void warranty.

I tried all last night and today at adding US LTE bands and additional 3G bands. The phone took and is keeping the new NV values so far. However, as of yet, I haven't had any luck connecting to the T-Mobile LTE yet. With my limited knowledge, I think the Qualcomm chip is definitely capable of running those frequencies however the phones modem firmware doesn't have the coding to do so. I'll try and do a lot more research and figure out if I can pry into the modem firmware. If anyone has any knowledge about it then please share. This phone is simply amazing however LTE would just amplify that even more.
Here are the values I have been using in case you want to try them yourself. I kept all of the native 3g and LTE bands active in these as well.
New Values:

Just a note as well, you need build 422 of QPSD in order to do this. I tried 411 however the phone just kept showing up as an unknown device. Once I upgraded, everything was working fine.
Long time lurker, first time poster here
I'm looking into the same as you, tho I only need to add one frequency to lte to have all the needed frequencies in Norway
Did you have any success yet?
Not long
I have 4 weeks left of my contract, so unless someone finds away to unlock band 20 I will be changing after probably about 25 years.
I do not know why, but after last update, 5.7.2 now I have 4G working like a charm (in Spain)...

Has anyone tried this app to enable more LTE bands on the MI Note Pro? Im not total geek in understanding this, but I read on a post that a few people have enabled bands in Europe that were disabled...
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tw.rmstudio.mt.android.ltebandcalculator
Just switched providers today the 4G symbol is there, although speedtest says not as fast as H+ damn.
How do you enable all the bands?
Do you use the same guide for unlocking LTE on qualcomm?
Really interested to unlock the band 5, although band 40 served me well for now...
I got LTE on Rogers by following this guide and inputting my values:

Hello, I am just amazed at reading the thread you're linking to: that means one can get frequency not listed in phones specs??
I am wandering around xda for two years and I thought this was impossible.
I would love to get the 800Hz's LTE band if it is possible.

I am a bit confused: you mean the tweak is no longer working or is it sill and can get any band working?
If it is still, does ota disable it?

NO drawbacks, I went camping with it and I got a better reception comparing to the iPhone 6... My wife had EDGE, I had H+... I have dropped calls because changing the bands, now I don't
AWS would be cool.. is LTE 1900 doable?
I'm doing some more reading and am not scared of a hardhack.. glad to see there's a success story here.
Also a T-Mobile convert here. HSPA+ is still faster than what I had with Sprint LTE (laf), but I got spoiled with my brief foray into One Plus One full on both guns blazing LTE.

May I know which guide you followed to enable the other LTE band?
Can I have a link please? thanks.
Is anybody losing or having bad service on the N6 with TMO. In places I usually get good reception in, i'm getting no service or G.

Yep I have no data, and WiFi is slow to connect. I have the new bootloader and radio installed and flashed an unencrypted, rooted kernel.

marshmallows tmo apn is wrong, and is missing some info. the aon protocol should be set for ipv4/ipv6.
I had a similar issue where I had the slowest Internet in the world. Speed test show. 3 download and. 01 upload. I had to factory data reset in order for the speeds to return.

Band 12 should work on Nexus 6 phones... If you have the Nexus 6p that's another story...

Signal via dBm is roughly the same for me on 6.0
Although today for a few minutes when I dropped out of an LTE area, signal bars said 3G. Not the H or H+ that I would normally see. My APNs are set properly, but did have to edit them to be so.
Maybe because this isn't a T-Mobile specific build is why it showed 3G. Because when I force 3G mode only , it shows H.
And my WiFi connect time is a bit slower as well. Instead of 2-3 seconds, it's definitely well over 10seconds to connect.

btw, H is 3G, just a newer, faster, form. and H+ is even faster
what are the tmobile settings?
Yes. I know its 3G. Just that this was the first time EVER I saw the 3G icon displayed on T-Mobile. It's always either been E, H, H+ or LTE.
Hasnt happened since so maybe a one time fluke

lol.
i saw an E back a few months ago, an E! i live in NYC, lol. ok, its only lasted for about 20 seconds, but still..
I did just do a speed test and noticed my speeds are nowhere near as quick as they used to be, didn't notice anything until this thread, so what should the t-mobile apn settings be?

See that "Access Point Name" wasn't showing up in my settings, "CDMA Type" was what it had instead. After I upgraded to the latest LightROM, i now have that in my settings and signal is better. My guess is that marshmallow is having trouble deciding if you're on Tmobile
