Battery saver - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I found this Web page online that had an app that would allow me to save my battery life by basically putting my phone into airplane mode when the phone was locked. I think it was for rooted phones. I like to have it because my galaxy uses a lot of battery, even when it's not in use and coming from a Windows phone its a big difference. Any ideas on what the app is?

[Q] Do Active Notifications count towards screen on time?

Having just received my Moto X on Thursday, I've noticed my screen on time being higher than normal. I am not sure if this is due to the "new device excitement" or that active notifications are counting towards the screen on time, and often firing while walking around in my pocket.
Does anyone know if active notifications count towards screen on time or not while displayed?
Even if active notifications are counted towards screen time, it would not have much of affect on battery because only some pixels of the screen are lit up.

Exactly. I am trying to determine if my battery life is actually really good, or mediocre. If AN's are counted towards screen on time, then having only 3 hours of screen on time is actually quite low. If they are not counted, then that is pretty solid.
Definitely does not. I noted my screen on time and then activated notifications for a total of 1 minute, check screen on time again, difference was seconds. I repeated the cycle 4 times before coming to this conclusion.

Awesome! Thanks for the info =)
I am not even worried about screen draining battery because Motorola did a great job with it. What bothers me when i am in my bio lab where college blocks the signal, my battery would drain down to 50% in like 4 hours without even using it at all. I would have maybe one bar or two or mostly roaming but the drain is so bad and fast.

Yea, this radio is definitely more temperamental than other phones I have used. This is my first moto, not sure if this is common with their radios or not.
Can you enable airplane mode while in your lab? If the signal is blocked, then I imagine they don't want you on your phone anyways... Maybe set up a tasker protocol to enable airplane mode by gps location or use a tag... Obviously, you would have to manually turn off airplane mode when you leave.
But a direct solution to the poor signal drain would be preferable... Luckily, I rarely, if ever, suffer from this.

MAJOR Battery problem!

I have recently bought a HTC One and the battery is behaving very poorly. My screen brightness is set to around 25% and I only have location services and Auto-Sync on and I can't even go half a day with this thing. I have tried running all kinds of different ROMs to see if that changes anything but it doesn't.Side note it was bought from Swappa if that changes anything.

Look at the first screen shot, warning signs already. Your screen was only on for 30 minutes and yet your phone was AWAKE for almost 5 hours. I see your using 3g data but your Wifi has been on for almost 6 hours. Also your phone radio is using up quite a bit of juice which I assume is because your signal isn't great. Biggest recommendation right now, turn off the location stuff, they are battery hogs. You should also download betterbatterystats which breaks down all the things keeping your phone awake
I also can propose to you to turn off the wi fi ... For me it eats my battery more than the 3G signal.

Even with low signal, this a very odd behavior. The battery is draining too fast.
Try downloading CPU-Z and check the active processor cores and sensor operation. You might have a defective unit.
Good luck.

Turning of WiFi has no difference in battery as well as turning off Mobile Network completely. I do think I have a defective unit though, but I have bought this off of Swappa and don't know where to start.

As Galactus said, get betterbatterystats to check your wakelocks.. A "Held Awake" time of almost 10x as much as screen on is no good!

In BBS you need to show us your partial wake locks and personally I find most roms to be the same regarding battery life. I don't think the device is defective, something whether its a rogue app or a messed up file is keeping the phone on when you have your screen off

Help me figure this out!

My phone has not always been this way. Its started in the past week. The battery seems to dive at the end of the day when I quit using it.

Something... Looks like "phone" in your screen shot, is keeping your phone awake for a crazy amount of time. Solve that and you're good again. Google it.

it's the NSA!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure the cause or a permanent solution. But if you see the battery dropping fast... Whether it's from "phone" or anything else.... A reboot should clear it up and you won't lose so much battery life.
That is, if you notice it dropping too fast. Sometimes you might not catch it till it's too late and you're running for a charger. Lol

It's pretty obvious some app is keeping your phone awake once you have solid mobile network signal. Time for you to find out what it is.
I have Gravity box installed. That's it. last night I charged it all the way up before I went to bed. I woke up with a 50℅ loss! This time it was the media server. Whatever that is......if I look on the wakelock detector there are 1000 little things but nothing stands out. Tonight I'll do the same thing but do a reboot before I lay it to rest.
What's weird is I only get this problem when the phone is not being used. If its of any relevance I leave the WiFi on all night. And have it set to turn off when the phone sleeps.

you should know the drill. start getting rid of apps to see if it improves. or, go reverse and start over, installing one app at a time. other posters above are right. you've got something else polling, that's causing the wake lock.

Seems like you could also just have some faulty hardware? e.g. a bad battery or charge sensor?

There is a bunch of apps to help you out
Usually i use this two
Wakelock detector
battery widget
Use those and paste a print here
Last night I left the WiFi on. Cleared all tabs in the recent and I lost only 28% .
Making progress. It was some app left running that kept it awake. Not sure what though.
Tonight I'll leave the WiFi off.

I think its a great feature, although with the great battery life I am experiencing I have yet to really need to use it. I may just not charge my battery next weekend so I am forced to use it, but it sounds awesome.
I haven't really used it since I'm always near a charger. However, I think I'll probably utilize it when I'm out camping over a weekend or on a long hike to save juice. seems promising for that.
Turn it on as soon as I clock in, and only turn it off for lunch...something about clocking out with 90-93% battery, putting it on my car charger, and getting home with 100% battery is life-changing (not that serious but I'm sure u understand)...imo best feature aside from toolbox

What could be killing my battery so quickly?

It seems that Android System uses a really high amount of battery, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas, or would know how to find out.
My battery lasts around 5 hours anymore, doing the same thing I used to do when it lasted 17+.
Any help would be super appreciated.

Why are you on JB? What setup are you using? Also, a screen shot from Wakelock detector would be appreciated.

I noticed that on 4.3, yeah, the phone radio was the biggest consumer of battery, butconsidering your usage, perhaps screen usage should be greater. Regardless, you're getting 4SOT/23.5SBY which is far better than I'm getting (2.5/14) on KK. lol
If you think about it, if nothing is waking your device, the phone radio is the only thing using power during sleep. So I guess it makes sense.
How about this? Supposing it has to do with the end of charge mechanic of the cpu, but it's worth a check.
Perhaps the battery is just going bad, after a year?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Any other ways I could see what's causing such a drain on the battery? I fear pretty soon keeping it plugged in won't even give it charge enough to stay on.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Or maybe something about this may help figure it out? I put it in Airplane Mode while charging and it didn't seem to make a difference in the rate at which it charged.
Could that possibly narrow down the cause?

Well that's a bit extreme. You need Google Services for a lot of things, and that app is central to the android experience.
That's not to mention all the FCs he could get.
I find the phone stutters quite a bit too. Like freezes for a few seconds then carries on with what I'm doing.

tbh it's hard to tell. I would say do a TI backup and flash something fresh. If you like JB, I think viper 3.5 is good for you.
You could also try calibrating your battery. I did it, and it seems to have had, at the very least, a slight placebo effect .
