Hey hi,
I want to install CM11 (Android 4.4.2) I got as stated 136, as far as I understand I need to downgrade than root than backup than unlock than backup again (just in cace) than upgrade and than install cm 11? Is that correct?
Or do I need to unlock earlier? Or later?
You have to downgrade to .534, Root with Bin4ry, Install DualRecovery, Backup TA, Update to .136 with the instruction by NUT and pre-rooted .136. Then follow the instruction to Unlock Bootloader. You have to have Unlocked Bootloader to install CM11. Do not flash it on Locked one because you will brick your phone. Also after Unlock Bootloader you Warranty will be void. Read very carefully before attempt anything.

Hi,
I would like to ask how can I root my Xperia zr with a locked bootloader and a stock ROM running Android 4.3? It was updated via PCcompanion without any previous root/unlock bootloader.
Thanks.

You can use the procedure described in this thread. You will need to downgrade to .310 to root your phone for the TA backup before unlocking the bootloader.
Or you can may be follow this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590174
so you don't need to unlock the bootloader...
I upgrade my 5503 following this thread and everything is fine.:good:
Latest version of vroot can root this version???

Hi,
Do I still need to downgrade to 310 to root my phone .and then use flashtool to flash my phone?
No! Google for towelroot, download the apk, run it and install supersu from the play store and you are done!
towelroot
Install towelroot better google it and download apk
Hey
Sorry for this noob questions but I wan't to be 100% sure i'm doing this right. I'm experienced with rooting, but mostly on samsung devices which I find a bit easier and less confusing.
First of all i'm running .290 with LB. And I want .290 with full root and UL and the ability to come back to stock .290 with LB anytime without loosing drmkeys, bravia engine etc.
Here is what I found out I need to do so far:
1. Download and flash via flashtools the .257 fw (prerooted/partial root?) from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572988
2. backup TA as described in a other thread.
3. unlock bl via the offical way and install
4. install XZDualRecovery
5. Use the first thread I linked to update to .290 firmware
6. Take a beer and enjoy fully rooted and unlocked 4.3?
And if I want to go back to stock LB without any loss of functions or sony beeing able to determine it was ever unlocked, i just restore my ta and flash my original .290 ftf?
Just need some conformation that this is the way to go and if there is anything in this process i need to be extra careful about?
after flashing .257 fw..... root it....then make TA backup.....then unlock BL.....then flash .290 fw....flash doomlord kernel....root ur fon....now u r good to flash .zip files through recovery...

Correct but I will recommend, in case you want go back to original, to flash the Stock .290 FTF first and then lock your Bootlader because if you have a custom kernel on it and you lock your phone, you can brick it. Full Root will not void your warranty so if you don't want to instal custom kernels you can easily keep your bootloader locked and get full root on .290.
so iflashed .534 firmware ang root using vroot then i update .290 via OTA, now the root is gone. my bootloader is locked.
im kinda nervous rooting 4.3 cause im reading lots of people hard bricking their phone on 4.3. is it really safe to root 4.3? i will be followibg this tutorial:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572988
Hard bricking happen when you do something stupid. Also in general there is a Thread How NOT Brick your Phone. Anyway, to get root you have to downgrade again to .534, I recommend to root with Bin4ry, then update directly to .136 with instructions given by NUT Here. You cannot keep root updating system via OTA, you will lose everything.
clicked Thanks
I have latest official firmware JB 4.3(12.1.A.0.266).
Now i want to root it.
Is there any way.
Thanks
Yes there is. However you need to unlock your bootloader for this.
Tutorial for Bootloader unlocking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354721
Tutorial for Rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646193
However for unlocking bootloader you need to create a backup of the TA partition and this requires root.
So there is an loop in this issue.......
What some users do:
- Downgrade back to 4.1.2 (see my tutorial about Flashing with Flashtool)
- Root it
- Backup TA
- Unlock bootloader/Install CWM
- Install custom 4.3 rom with root

Those who do not want to unlock bootloader are waiting for @DooMLoRD to release an exploit for official firmware JB 4.3(12.1.A.0.266).
I am one of them.

Hello All , Currently i have Xperia Z1 C6903 Running Android 4.3 "14.2.A.1.136" , and i got 4.4 OTA Update .
My question is if i accepted the update , can i root it afterwards by unlocking the bootloader and install custom recovery , and root it ?
or i can root my current os 4.3 then update to 4.4 OTA and the root will be still there ?
You can Root it by Unlocking Bootloader but if you do so you will lose DRM Keys forever and your Warranty will be void. No, you can not root any current Android 4.3 or 4.4 directly, to do so you have to follow the steps by NUT to downgrade, get Root then Backup TA (very Important) then you can update to 4.4 or 4.3 always with NUT method. Why not OTA? Because you will lose Root. So the only way is to Downgrade to get Root and Upgrade after.
Never accept an OTA with an unlocked boot
