I dropped my Samsung Focus and broke the screen glass. The touch screen works fine and i think only the outer screen glass has to be replaced.
I have searched on internet and found DIY repair videos to replace the LCD screen, but couldn't find any info about replacing the outer glass alone. But read its pretty hard to seperate the glass from LCD and replace it !!!
The LCD screen is costing around 120$ and the outer glass is costing 10-16$. I do not want to spend more unnecessarily if i can find a way to replace the outer glass myself.
Also, Samsung Focus is not oficially released here in India here, so i don't think i can approach the samsung itself.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Samsung focus lcd broken
Hi pranav. Same here , i have a samsung focus and lcd + outer glass screen is broken. In one of the screen replacement video i saw , the outer screen and the lcd as one unit and not seperate. Though , i am not completely sure.
Did you find a way to get the lcd or the outer glass for your phone in India?
Please contact me on [email protected]
Did you find a source for the replacement glass only? Please share.
I found only glass on eBay (hongkong or china i suppose). When i spoke to people from service center, all of them were saying it is not possible to replace only glass and they wont do it !!! i i don't know if it is really tough or they do not want to take much pain replacing glass and want to replace the whole LCD set which is easy for them.
And the total LCD + Digitizer + glass kit, i found it for 103$ in eBay US, and for 120 - 140$ in some other repair sites and Amazon.
Waiting for get the replacement from US as it costs less and get it fixed in a samsung service center.
Don't think that's possible. After all, the whole point of "super" in super amoled is that the glass is bonded to the display.

I've purchased the glass only and I'm waiting for it to arrive. It was very cheap and if it doesn't work, I'm not going to be too upset for buying it for about $11.00.

Amazon also has unit which is the LCD and digitizer already assembled.

I can update if and when I receive my replacement glass from gogotoshop. I find the place questionable but used paypal and can dispute the transaction if it isn't legit.
BTW....removing the glass & digitizer is not an easy task. From attempting to remove my broken screen, I don't think it is possible to remove it from the LCD as the previous posters mentioned.
mine is i937
Thanks for reply, But my phone is Samsung focus s (i937), and I didnot find the front class or Digitizer or LCD or all together.
I have the same problem the front glass broken. other things are ok, I asked on sumsung service center they said the whole thing has to change, I am sure experts can change only the front class.
Anybody has any idea about if I can buy it in India or any site who can ship to India.
or in UK, my frnd is coming from there I will ask him to buy there for me.
Please guys help me.

So just like the samsung and iphone models, the focus and focus s can be done the same way? I know for a fact that the galaxy s4 Active is best done by machine. Since ive tried but failed to do one. I have removed the glass from a galaxy s3 mini successfully, should this phone be the same? Please respond quickly!
Thank you
So, has anyone else received their HTC One, only to discover dust under their screen?
I have a *huge* speck under the glass. Any ideas how to remove it?
Thanks in advance
Take it back and get it replaced. That kind of flaw is unacceptable.
Sorry to dig up old threads but any news on this?
Mine has 2 dust particles between digitizer and screen that's why I ask...

Got a picture of it?
On my 1st black unit, there are few dust particles that are very visible. I returned it and get another unit. Guess what ! also got dust particles, but this one not so bad, 1 or 2 very tiny dust. I can live with it. I think they are rushing the manufacturing for the demand
Hi all,
I recently fell whilst holding my brand new N6 and cracked the screen pretty bad. The digitiser and LCD appear to work OK, so I'm taking the plunge and will try and replace the glass myself.
I've replaced the display module (glass, LCD and digitiser) for a number of family/friend's phones and feel comfortable about working with the small electronics. I've been reading and watching countless tutorials on the removal of the glass from the rest of the display assembly but and yet to find any information specifically about doing this on the N6. Specifically, I'm worried about how the speakers will affect the glass removal process.
If anyone has any N6 specific info, it would be most appreciated. I'm waiting for the replacement glass to arrive, I'll update this thread with how i get on!

I've been through that. Will be useful to get me to the display module, but would have been nice if they showed what it looks like in more detail. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures when i do this and maybe a video.

Did you try replacing just the glass or the whole display module? What went wrong? I'm also about to replace the display module on the N7 2012, the glass is cracked and half the digitiser doesn't work.

with the iphone it was both the LCD and Digitizer I was replacing and they came together as one................same with the N7, both together, trying to install/remove these separately is suicide unless you have the right tools etc........
Have you bought the LCD/Digitizer toggether inside the silver bezel, I didn't, and I should have.........
basically there was a small cable on the back of the LCD/Digitizer that was present on the old damaged module, but not on the new one I had bought, I tried removing form the old and into the new, plugged in the normal power and screen cables, but then nothing, didn't work, my frustration also resulted in a small crack to the new screen.............
it possible but you need to have patience and the tools, which it sound like you do.......but its much easier already inside the silver bezel...........
the screen was glued into the bezel and removing this was murder, managed it, but had to pick out all the smashed glass bit by bit........
don't let me put you off though, you sound more competent than me........

I haven't bought the replacement display module yet for the Nexus 7. Thanks for the info, think i'll try and get one with a bezel to be on the safe side.
its definitely the way to go as you will just be popping off the back cover, releasing the ribbon cables, removing some screws, peeling back some adhesive tape and that's you.........
and any dings to the bezel will dissapear too............
Removing the LCD ribbon cable on N6 is PITA I don't want to even think how to plug in the new one. The digitizer is easy since there is lock on it but the LCD just plugs in with lots of friction.
Any tips?

Unless you have the right equipment and lots of time buy the whole assembly.
You can watch videos on youtube how complicated is to separate the glass from LCD
£122 repair cost in UK.
Update
I'm experiencing the same problem. I've replaced the digitizers/screens on all versions of the iPhone and also on the Samsung Galaxy S4. I successfully replaced only the glass on some Samsung devices too. I'm wondering if I'll be able to do this with the Nexus 6 if I just buy the $10 replacement glass.
Thanks. Hope to hear your results soon.
EDIT: I've scoured YouTube in search of videos showing how to replace the GLASS ONLY, but I can only find videos showing how to replace the entire digitizer. So I'm desperate for any information on this. Haha.

I was reading ifixit's how to guide. They state that the digitizer is fused to the glass. Possibly that's why everyone stops at this step.....

Can I ask where this is from? I've cracked the glass, screen works fine.
yes the glass repair is possible i am uploading photos of the process i did. i do work for a cell phone repair company and this has been a very common repair. Nexus 6 glass only repair with the use of OCA (optical clear adhesive) and bonded together with an ridge to ridge lamintator and and mini autoclave.
It turns out Motorola Official repair was £128 plus the postage to send them the phone in the first place.
I am unfortunately in the same boat. I sustained probably 15 scratches that my fingernail could get stuck on them all. My phone scraped along an artificial hardwood floor when a dog stepped on it facedown and slid. So I bought some cerium oxide in an attempt to sand down and buff away the scratches. I was not successful, and it looks like I added some more scratches. I'm going to put up with them until I get more, then replace the screen & digitizer probably while also adding a screen protector. I hate the feel of screen protectors though

Impressive. What's your process for separating the cracked glass from the digitizer?
Although I'm sure the OP was asking for a way that doesn't require thousands of dollars worth of specialized equipment.
Has the OP given up on this project? I cracked my glass the other day however the digitizer still works just fine. I wanted to know if there was a do it yourself way to change the crystal without having to purchase a digitizer/crystal combo?
Thanks
Hi guys.
I've dropped my xt1068 on a floor and the glass got cracked although the screen works perfectly (no damaged parts at all). I've buyed the replacement glass from ebay (this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Front...244?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566c04b4ec ).
My question is, have anyone passed through this situation? Is there any way to replace it without damaging the screen? I heard that glass is glued to the digitalizer screen and I'm worried.
Any thoughts?

I don't think it is glued, but if it is try putting some light heat on it, not real hot though. The glass is meant to be replaced. I'm guessing you have the disassemble instructions.

And the only tutorial I found is for samsung galaxy s4.

I'd give it a shot. The worst you could do is have to put it back together with the broken glass. It's a pretty straightforward job taking it apart. Just be careful with the pins on the cables you unplug.

Hello,
After 2 month the glass of the back cover of my Huawei P8 is broken without a shock. Today I don't now how the glass has been broken. I try to contact huawei to change it but I have no answer. For me the problème it that the rear glass is too breakable and I would like to know if someone has the same problem as me.
Yes, and I don't know what to do only had the phone for a month and now I have to pay 1000kr for it to be fixed. The glass covers the camera as well which is annoying
same problem, i'll guess you only can contact the nearest huawei contact center to repair it... you can find it on the official site.
My back glass is also broken. I found this on the internet:
aliexpress.com/item/Back-Rear-Cover-Top-Glass-with-Camera-Flash-Lens-Housing-Replacement-Parts-for-Huawei-Ascend-P8/32488602163.html
I'm going to try repair my phone myself.
oh my god, i hope it wont happen to me, it happened for no reason?
The same issue happened with some Xperia Z-series devices. The cause? Overheating. My dad had the same problem with his P8 after three months. Mine however after six months has nothing but micro scratches on the front glass despite the numerous times it fell... Hard. Good thing I got a flip cover case.
I believe you can order the replacement part on the internet and look for a tutorial on how to replace the back glass on iFixIt. Good luck!
i have same pro what can we do?
Someone found a tutorial to repair it ?

Yeah was browsing aliexpress a while ago and I saw this too. You can also just purchase an entire new back cover there but it requires some searching.
[True, this phone is a dirty trick . Huawei is not responsible are not interested in customer service . The HUAWEI P8 has a serious problem of production , the glass that protects the camera is very weak and breaks easily .
I have recently had this problem, I think the phone overheated whilst I was doing a backup in TWRP. I have ordered a new lens cover and will install this weekend.
I dropped it on the floor 2 times and still the glass is not broken...

This is only the camera cover on the back, it seems it is susceptible to cracking when the phone overheats.
I have now replaced the cracked glass. The replacement has 3M tape already on it.
I removed the cracked glass, I would recommend putting sellotape over the glass as it cracks and is very sharp.
I then scraped as much of the sticky stuff off with a bit of plastic, a plectrum.
I then used some white spirit (a solvent) and then removed the rest of the sticky stuff with a cotton bud.
I cleaned the replacement part and fixed it to the phone.
It isn't a perfectly flush fit along the bottom, I think because of the 3M tape, but it looks good and protects the camera.
