Hey all, any AT&T specific lists on the apps we can safely freeze on the Note 3? I came across some guides but they seemed considerably different. I believe they were for Verizon or TMo. Also saw a script but the verbiage is more the technical apk not the listing in TB. Any help is appreciated

I've been looking around for a while now and can be very skeptical about certain ones I've come across. But is there a trusted root out for Verizon 4.4.2, and if so could I get a link to it. I don't know much about rooting but it looks very interesting and I would like to mess around with it. Thanks.

No. There is currently no way to root an X that has a locked bootloader. That includes Verizon, ATT, and others.
This is covered in many threads already, including some recently started ones.
Here are some I found quickly just by scrolling through the thread listing in this Q&A section....

Hey everyone,
Just picked up a AT&T note 3 here in Ireland. Phone is practically new but I have straight away noticed some problems.
First of all how can people live with the phone been destroyed by bloatware and all that other stuff..
So I'm looking to see if it's possible for me to root it and flash a standard samsung image?
I see kitkat update is available but when I check for updates it says there is none, is something blocking me receiving the update here in Ireland?
I'm having the gps problem and hope it's not a hardware problem, is there a fix that allows it to lock on to satelites instead of constantly searching for GPS??
Thanks in advance..

It might help if you gave a little more information and also searched. As for information, what ROM does your phone currently have? Are you sure its an AT&T Note and not an international note? What chipset do you have? You may be in the wrong forum as the international note has its own forum and flashing from one to the other can and will cause bad things to happen.
If you are on an AT&T note, there is a 4.4.2 update that only recently was able to be rooted. There are bootloader issues, so if you are on an older ROM, you might not want to update.
In addition, searching might help quite a bit as well. For example, there is a thread on the first page discussing the GPS issues with several suggested fixes. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612757)
There are also people who say the 4.4.2 update fixed the GPS issues and those who say it didn't. As for debloating, there are several threads talking about apps to freeze (using Titanium if you are rooted) as well as a thread from Walter.white that lists an extensive amount of programs and files to delete.
That's the long answer. The short answer is read and search and then ask questions giving as much information about your software and circumstances as possible. The likelihood of getting an answer is much greater that way.
Congratulations on getting the best phone out there!

First of all thank you for taking the time to reply with as much info as possible.
It is a at&t phone because it boots up with the at&t logo and I have checked the code ect. I have attached a screen shot with some details if you don't mind having a look. I have successfully rooted the phone and installed supersu so I should be at the stage to flash roms? If I had the international version I don't think I would be asking so many questions as I would just go ahead and do it.
I just don't want to make a mistake as I'm not sure what exactly is the difference between at&t versions of phones. Is the hardware different?
Thanks again
Does anyone have a list of bloatware that's safe to remove? I know the Note 3 and 2 had threads about what's safe, but I wanted to know if anyone's played around with the Note 4 to see what new/different bloatware can be taken off.
Thanks.
Well I used to be so up to date on rooting/roms/recovery things when I had my HTC a few years back. Then my job went strictly iPhone so all that was put on the back burner. Needless to say I'm getting the AT&T TabS tomorrow. While trying to search and read the insane amount of information on this site I'm overwhelmed.
Simply put I'd just like to know if the AT&T LTE version with snapdragon can be rooted so I can debloat and enjoy. Please help haha.
As of now there is no root for the att lte version of the tab s. Att devices have locked bootloaders in which makes it harder for rooting those tablets. For non root users I just disable apps I dont use and use greenify to hibernate apps I dont use.
Ok cool thank you very much, I was reading so many things that I couldn't make heads or tails of it.
also, ATT tab S has the exynos processor, not snapdragon..

Hi VZW G2 fellows,
To make it clear I don't have a VZW G2, but I do plan to purchase another VZW LG phone which, like G2, has the damn limit on hotspot. I intend to use hotspot with a foreign SIM card and not with VZW's tethering plan.
I saw a lot of threads about modified HotspotProvision.apk's that allow you to bypass the limit, but all of the threads only offer APK's for download, none actually tells us how the modification is achieved. Since the device I'm looking to purchase is very unpopular, I reckon I have to do the modification myself instead of relying on a pre-modified APK. I do have APKTool and Virtuous Ten Studio experience, and have modified some APKs for personal use in the past, so technique is not a problem.
Can anyone share how it's done if you happen to know it? The phone in question is running KitKat, if that matters. Thanks in advance.
Bump. Even an Xposed solution would be nice.
I actually tried decompiling a modified APK and the original and see the difference, but there are so many I can't be sure they're all required if I apply them on a different phone...
