[REQ] 720p 60fps video - Xperia Z Themes and Apps

Is anyone aware of a mod/app for the Xperia Z that allows capturing of videos in 720p 60fps? Currently, it seems it only takes them in [email protected] and [email protected]

Could've sworn such things come down to the camera sensor, not the CPU :silly:
If the possibility was there, I'm pretty sure Sony wouldn't be hiding it away
However, the preview in the camera is actually 60FPS... so... I don't know, maybe the preview isn't as demanding as actually recording with 720p+, on 60fps.

I always thought it was just a software bug since I had a Z1 (borrowed) and it only was able to capture [email protected] and [email protected] too. Since the S4 and Z1 have similar specs and the same image processor (if i'm not mistaken) and is better than the HTC One, I'm certain it isn't a hardware limitation but more of a software flaw..
=S

Its hardware limitation, that's all s4 pro can handle. Check the website of qualcomm for more info.

Yes, there's a way to do it. If you have root, download Android Tweaker 2 and let me know. I have an Xperia T and works for me.

Sorry but no. Encoding in 60 FPS, even if it actually does anything, doesn't mean capturing in 60 fps. I tried out the app (which is just the ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.fps setting set to 60, Im afraid) and the video was still 30fps.

Ok, I understand.

This is impossible

If you observe closely in the link below , the Asus uses same processor as XPeria Z or ZL. which records 720P videos at 60 FPS.
http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_padfone_2-5017.php
So i dont think its limited by processor. its missing libraries to perform the same thing.

Yeah.. Was wondering why people were telling me its a "hardware limitation" when even the Z1 (which btw, has really good hardware) isn't coded to capture 720p @ 60fps.

Sony "flagship" devices in a nutshell.

Sony already offering this feature with "Timeshift Video" camera addon I think it would work on Z too, though not sure about 4k

Forgive me for offtop, but, if we will have codecs the video in youtube will works and we will have the working camcorder? And what about zoom?
ohh...wtf!
WE DO NOT HAVE OPTICAL ZOOM!!!!
we just have digital, and the "zoom" effect is only made by reducing px/quality.
(btw: why no ics? cuz 4.2 is already around the corner maybe?)

I think ICS/JB have same codec architecture
Instead of porting the codecs from msm7x30 we could try to replace them with a ffmpeg based codec. I'm not much of a programmer, but take a look at these:

What about MX Player? Videos work just fine with it using software decoder on ICS/JB. You can even even watch YouTube videos.
http://limoa.sourceforge.net/node
im no android dev, but decoding and encoding arent the same thing.
(bad) example: to build a house need months. afterwards looking how it looks need some minutes.
you have to compress the raw data from "cam" into a (more or less) little file.
currently im compressing 72,5GB of raw video data. using x264 and a phenom 2 x3 i need around 45min. BUT: the vid is opend in seconds and lasts around 15 min.
i hope i could explain it.
Guys, relax software cant replace hardware decoding, understand that we want hardware decoding to work, if it works cam too will work, ics and jb have same, if we get it done on ics, it will work on jb too.
A little more info on hardware decoding, but this is just for knowledge ( but few technical aspects are there )

[Q] Xperia Z1 Record 4K videos

I was planning to get a new Xperia Z1 (but it is not released yet in my country /Iraq/ ) and I was saying
Can any Dev hack it to get it recording the 4K videos
I mean the crappy note 3 can ?? why the Z1 can`t ?? they have the same SD 800 and i don`t think the ram has any effect Because the note 3 need it to run those useless bloatware and sam`s ****s
also can it be cracked to get higher framerate like 60 [email protected] or 120 [email protected] like slowmotions videos??
+1
I have the same questions since Z1 was offically released
It's possible. Someone might hack the Z1 camera app to support 4K video and 720/1080P video at higher framerates. Although I also think it's a possibility Sony will add this with an official update.
For now we have to wait for Sony anyway, to fix their bootloader unlock. After that developers can try and add features, until then though, nothing I guess..

Yeah I would say the same, obviously something went wrong with the camera SW with all those problems so I think they dropped the 4k support in order to fix the other problems(grain and low light performance) before adding in other additional features. We all know Sony always f*ck up the first 1-3 months on their SW but after that we may well indeed see A LOT of Camera mods.
Sony always seemed to be in a rush to launch products, then release sub standard firmwares etc, good to see nothing has changed. All it does is gives them bad reviews because the people doing the reviews have buggy substandard software.
If Sony really want to get serious about being at least number 2 in the android space they need to get their act together, so when the phone is launched and tested/reviewed that the reviewers go nuts on how great everything is. Then peoples decisions are likely to be swayed.
The good news is the the hardware is capable to support 4k
What's this fascination with being able to record in 4k when the chances of anyone having a 4k display to play it back on is practically nill?
Is it bragging rights?

No, it's future proofing and innovation. I would have killed to have the 20 year old videos of me in 1080p, let alone 720p instead of crappy VHS PAL quality. If possible, I would shoot everything in 1080p 3D or 4k 3D.
Why not record in the best possible quality and then be happy in a few years because you can then enjoy it fully?
can z1 record slow motion videos
Here's an interesting piece of info, I wonder if Stuff know something we don't...
I rate Stuff pretty Informative and enjoy reading their magazine, I haven't had one for a few months so decided to download their latest magazine which came out yesterday. On page 22 there's a page on the Z1 and well as you will see from my 2nd image they've put about it "Special moves including encoding and decoding and 4K video and 7.1 virtual surround sound."
Now I know that it doesn't say the camera records in 4k and they are referring to the Snapdragon 800 chip, but saying that in the first paragraph about its features; I find this really interesting because the phone doesn't show 4k so what else would they refer to 4k?
Thoughts?

Where To Find 2K Videos?

So I got this fancy new phone with 2K resolution so where can I get a video to blow my friends away? YouTube seems to only stream up to 1080p even though several of the videos say 2K.
On the g3 there was an apk floating around that supported 2k video in the YouTube app maybe google or search the forums for that particular YouTube apk. If I'm not mistaken the web version of YouTube allows this as well.

To watch it on 4k TV. Also frame grabs from video are much better quality and you can zoom in, without loss of quality when using phone for watching and actually I use it very often on my Note 3, since with fixed lens framing is always far from perfect and there is always option of not using 4k video at all.

Yes it improves graphics performance in benchmarks but it doesnt effect games. Cuz pretty much all games support 1080p most so games already has performance improvement without anything.

Ok. I understand. I edit tittle post. Android seems to be more faster with this resolution. Recent apps loads faster comparing to 2k resolution.
I try a few days.
If I could make a slight correction, 2k is technically 1080.
4k and 2k refers to the largest of the two resolution values; 3840 x 2160 gives us 4k (3840 is approx 4000) and hence 1920 x 1080 gives us 2k (1920 is approx 2k)

Yes it can affect ui performance more than games. Ui has higher res. If you set everything to lower res cpu and gpu wont have to work hard like they are on 2k res.
This works man

Mathematically I see no flaws in what I just said; what don't you understand?
So 1440x2560 (3,7mln pixels) is same as 1080x1920(2mln px) "technically"?
in the real world, lowering the resolution from 2k to 1080p would give a big improvment in performance and battery life.
however after finding out about this trick a few weeks ago and reading more about it- the difference in battery life is negligible as the screen still powers the extra pixles, however the only difference is that the gpu doesn't have to process them.
you can use it for the extra score in antutu, but it doesn't give you much as apart from that..I haven't encountered a game/app/anything since my S4 that lagged. and especially not on my note 4.

No; if we are being pedantic, 4k should be called 3.84k and 1080p should be called 1.92k.
However, if we round 3.84k to 4k then we should clearly round 1.92k to 2k.
QHD is actually 2.56k, although that's too far from 3k to round up and too far from 2k to round down. MKBHD discusses it in his video "Oppo Find 7 Rant!" - http://youtu.be/E0_JrUNevdc

I've still got my hopes up for a lower resulotion M9. I've got Note 4 and G3 and don't see the need really. The G3 with its to slow gpu was a miss compared to G2 in my view.

Sometimes it's enough just knowing you have it.

Would help if the app would say that when trying to apply. Haven't rooted since flashing Lollipop.

[Mod] Google Camera 4.2 ARM for Android 7.0+ [Need Test]

Hi, I modify the Google Camera 4.2 to working with Android 7.0 for Nexus 5X, enable some good features.
Now the ARM version was out, I need N6 users to test the ARM version mod.
Only one feature enhanced, Zsl shotting force enabled. ( I don't know if it enable by default )
Download: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9Xul_AtQRjbU3ZrSFBaU0IxNHc
Details, heads to the original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...-google-camera-4-2-nexus-5x-android-t3477980/
Downloading. I'll test it out over the weekend and post back on Sunday evening at the latest.
I'm running pure nexus 20161025.

Works on my N6 too (running 7.0 stock + root). I had to disable the old camera before installing it.
works fine on latest Android N official, thanks so much for the work.
I can not download, please make a new link)
app works fine on NitrogenOS 7.0
.....the only thing that does not work is:
60fps/4K on video shooting: video is not even saved!
60fps/1080p on video shooting: stuttered video
.....I hoped .... but this is something that Qualcomm 805 can not do ...
60fps/720p works fine!
Good job! :good:
Do you could upgrade to Google Camera 4.2.023 ? :fingers-crossed:
Thank you guys for testing.
So... the 60fps works on Android 7.0...interesting.
Are you using stock 7.0 kernel?

It was installing fine, but gave FC when I started it (I gave it all the permissions requested). After I saw the Camera 4.2 working I enabled the old Camera and both are working fine. I intend to stick with the new one since it is working fine for me.

For your info guys. The 60fps is actually 30fps, only the camera distributes it as 60fps, because in fact the camera apk is meant for Pixel devices. For 30fps+ recording we'd need a tweaked software. There was a guy who enabled the 60fps and even 120/320fps on Nexus 5. The developer of LCamera (search on github).

60fps (only 720p) is real. Not is slowmotion, but video @60fps.

Does it mean that it records 60frames pet second? It's a software limitation, that could only be enabled through reverse engineering.

I have doubts too. but if you can sense the difference of 30fps and 60fps when recording, it has a very good chance 60fps working.
Better put the video on PC to check it, or MX player.
you are right.... even if the properties of the file is assigned 60fps, the video is not fluid seen on pc
I took the same video at 30 and 60 fps ..... They have the same kbps!
