Hi friends,
1.I have an Xperia X8.I have recently unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone.I wanted to install CM 7.1(shakira).So,I downloaded the ROM from the official cyanogenmod website.I read in one of the post that it works only with the kernel FXP30.After searching for a long time(because most of the links are dead) ,i finally found one.I flashed the kernel by using the flashtool provided by androxyde.Through the recovery mode,i flashed the cm7.1.It said flashing was successful. But after rebooting,it shows only "free xperia project" and nothing else happens...I tried cleaning the dalvik cahe, wiped the partition, did a factory reset. But no use...Is there any way to get it working? or am i doing anything wrong?
2.is MINI JB 4.2 better than CM 7.1?since i failed installing CM,i have flashed mini jb 4.2...but i want to install CM7.1 so badly...
Thanks in advance ....

1. FXP30 Kernel??? LOL never heard of that one before.
Any way since I have never heard of that kernel before it probably is pretty old and unsupported. Try using this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362585 with this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484 .
2. Do you mean JB Mini Project ROM? Because that ROM is Android 4.1.2 and not 4.2. Witch one is better depends on what you want. JB Mini Project has a lot more features and a lot more apps are compatible with it since it is a JB ROM, and any CM7 based ROM would be faster but there would be less apps compatible with it.

Well I've been using Froyo 2.2 v23b and I wanted to test some roms.
I installed CM 7.1 and when I wanted to go back on the Ginger-DX v17 the first time was good and I replaced the official CM 7.1 kernel for the FXP 030.
The problem is when I had to reinstall the GDX rom for some bugs and now it gets stucked on FXP logo and don't run the rom but I still have acces to the CWM menu.
I attempted to put some kernels (stock version, CM 7.1 official and the FXP 030) but no one works
Would you guys help me?
Nice way to start posting >.< I'm sorry
Full wipe after you change rom or stuck in boot loop.
You'd better go back to stock kernel, the FXP kernel is actually only for their Rom.
Because their kernels are not tested on other roms... I think.
Well I have to say thanks for your support for you.
What I have done is flash the latest SE firmware with flash tool and at the moment it's working.

Hello,
I am looking for a stable GM Rom with everything working for a friends Galaxy Mini.
I will not be home for several months so he will not be able to modify smth as she doesn't know how to flash Roms etc.
Thanks in advance.
The Gxy Mini is on Stock 2.1. Anything special i should know before flashing?
I believe you first have to upgrade to Gingerbread before flashing custom roms. Also, install clockworkmod recovery via Odin before flashing custom roms.
That's about it really.
A pretty nice rom that sticks close to default is Chocobread. (Current emanom is too buggy right now, although v6 is in the making).
. Installed Stock 2.3.6 then Creed's Rev. 1.3. Interesting that the contacts didn't sync from 2.1. Then, (didn't checked on PC before) i found out that i have no phone contacts on the Google account although i synced them on the old 2.1 before wipe.
Creeds ROM feels laggy than stock 2.3.6 somtimes. I overclocked it to 710 mHz. Angry Birds Space doesn't load past the "Space birds" loading screen.
I told her to test it for a few days but i consider other options?
mebitek's cm7 rc 1 or kitten's cm7 base on mebitek's deodexed or MORe v3
i would recommend Stock ROM!

If your friend is not a techno wiz then i would suggest why don't you flash stock rom.

Theres no risk of bricking. You may even root this stock rom using odin if you wish or even flash cwm.
Hit thanks if it helps!
Hi guys,
Well I'm a android user and I have a SE Arc S and I know quite a few things about flashing new roms, kernels, etc...
My girlfriend has a galaxy mini and she's complaning about the phone's performance. So I want to install a custom rom with a better performance but I know little about the "how to" in Samsung.
I've searched but I couldn't find any tutorial. Can someone post a link please?
Thanks
EDIT: Found the tutorials but in SE phone we have to unlock the bootloader, is it necessary on the Galaxy minis? Or is it just flashing through CWM recovery?!
Try here www.yagyagaire.blogspot.com I'm sure you'll find some info
If you have understood methods then Try flashing CM7 (or ROMs based on cm7) for best customizations or try Emanon v6 for touchwiz look and better stability....
sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Hit thnx it will take your 1KB only..
dont have to unlock bootloader in samsung...just install CWM recovery, and you good to go..

How to install custom rom:
1st: the device must have OS Gingerbread 2.3.x
2nd: install CWM via Odin
3rd: install custom rom ( .zip file ) from CWM (recovery mode)
it's running 4.0.4

Yes, you can safely factory reset on Philz kernel :good:
2nd question is a wrong question to be asked here on XDA, as it is Best rom question. Also, I have not used both, so I cannot answer that question. Sorry

I am very sorry If I violated any of the rules by best I just meant a feature like comparission maybe like verus thing. Because their Features arent listed so clearly.. more so like someone to point out the difference beetween the two...
Look the paranoid android will be a stable ROM but you'll have more features in the other hybrid ROM. It's your choice. ROMs by beerbong are very good and stable
I'd personally recommend you the P.A.C. ROM also by beerbong. It has all the features you look in a custom ROM, AOKP, CM, PA. PAC ROM is the way...
Hi Varad297,
I would recommend that Rom too, currently using it on my ZTE Blade and on my HP Touchpad and love it.... I plan to upgrade my ZTE Blade to a N7000 come October and been asking a few questions as I am new to this beast (N7000 and all its bricking problems) but not new to Android...
I asked a question a while ago, but still waiting for it to be answered so perhaps you could advise as you know this ROM.
The N7000 I will be getting will come with Vodafone UK official stock JB rom, (Android 4.1.2 I believe). However i want to take it to PAC 22:40 (based on Android 4.2.2).
However I am confused as to which Philz recovery kernel I would need? And how (what to look for) in the kernel when choosing...? Philz seems to be the most recommended one, but there are so many to choose from....
thanks, Lister
You mean which Philz kernel you'd need to flash PAC? I flash my ROMs on the CWM recovery as i do not trust the Philz kernel doue to some problem while flashing certainAOSP ROMs on the CWM-based recovery provided with the Philz kernel. I'd rather suggest you yo flash ROMs on a CWM recovery like that which comes with the CM kernel.

if you are rooted you can add S4 and Note 2 features yourself (pretty easy) from Themes and Apps section. if you still want TW rom then you can try:

You have the zip files for TW launcher along with tweaks in it like AccuWeather widget n stuff, all flashable in recovery. Do visit the apps n themes section
Hi, I need to install JB 4.1.2 or something like that, but the original one... or some custom rom with minimal changes. This is because I need to know the built-in options of this version of Android, so yeah, I need the "boring" version.
The thing is, I have a custom kernel [2.6.29.6-nAa-14] on E15i (and thus, baseband), so I don't know if I need to do anything else.
Thanks.
yo sir

you can't install the official jellybean update in x8 because there's no official jb update in our x8. you can try a custom rom like cm9-11 wich runs a unofficial jb rom. I know they works great because our x8 developpers for custom rom is superb. you can see it in our development board.

I don't know what you mean by Original Version. Our phone only got Officially updated to Android 2.1 by Sony and to 2.3.7(CM7) officially by CyanogenMod. The closest thing you might get to "Original" if you want to get Jelly Bean 4.1.2 would be MiniCM10 or JB Mini Project. You will need to Upgrade you Kernel to 2.6.32.61-nAa-06 for MiniCM10 and to 2.6.32.60-nAa-05 kernel for JB Mini Project.
