I am trying to root ddkq8 gb 2.3.6 on gt 5830. If anyone has the rooting package for ddkq8, please upload it. There are links that direct me to mediafire, but the file has been removed. I have tried all other rooting files including upd_1, acegingerroot, root, universal gb root, update3. None of them work. I have read others who have had success with that rooting package, but am not able to find the file. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Here's the solution for Rooting Galaxy Ace
[Guide] Know your Device: Galaxy Ace GT-S5830
Remember, it's for Cooper device, Not for Galaxy Ace-i (GT-S5830i)
First Install a custom recovery like CWM
Go to section, How to install ClockworkMod Recovery?
Then Root your device,
Go to section, How to ROOT your Galaxy Ace? (2.3.x)

I don't know of any other custom kernel(note: NOT ROM) that can root 2.3.3 except CF-root which if I apply on my tab distorts the bootanimation.
But then there are folks here who have successfully applied CF-root without any problem...
You used the CF-root without the bootloaders, thats where the wiggly lines come from. Reflash CF-root using the bootloaders version - they are unsigned and safe.
Hey all
I have been trying to root my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830L for the past couple of days without any success. I am right now running 2.3.4 with Build number mentioned as Gingerbread.UBKP7. The prevalent methods such as using the root.zip file / using superoneclick abort in the middle of the process. Any help would be highly appreciated
Thanks

Still no luck rooting s5830L or s5830T
I thought renewing this thread might get the attention of someone who has successfully rooted their Galaxy Ace GT-S5830L or GT-S5830T with Gingerbread 2.3.4 DDKQ4. I'm a full on newb at all this, and have been scouring this forum for answers the past few days.
I got my S5830L a couple of weeks ago, and getting it rooted has stumped me. roidzmaster and oldernerd with S5830T models have been posting in this thread, but have not solved their similar rooting problems either.
I have read and tried files for rooting found on stickies and tutorials in these forums here, and here, and on Yagya Gaire's page here. The files and instructions were identical to ones I found elsewhere on the net here, and here. But my Ace responds with this error:
error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7) installation aborted
So:
1. Can anyone who has successfully root their s5830L please respond and tell me how it was done?
2. And can someone confirm what I read in the Newbie Guide for your Galaxy Ace sticky that suggests that before I root, I can install Clockworkmod and completely backup my phone to a custom ROM? I followed a link on that sticky to a page with a link to download ClockWorkMod 4.0.0.9. And I also found a newer Clockwork Mod Recovery v5.0.2.6 on Yagya Gaire's page. But I'm not sure if it's wise to install ClockworkMod before rooting.
3. Is there any reason to prefer one of the methods Yagya suggests for flashing clockworkmod with Odin and CWMManager.apk rather than Ace's recovery mode?
Thanks for any help on this.

I had the same problem, I can't remember the name of the site I tried but I can give you the names of the files I downloaded, there were 2 different ones I tried, the first did not work but the second did, here are the names:
upd_1.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/?te9cdr348u7j4xz
I think this was the one that worked for me, it was so long ago, PM me if you get any problems.
Thanks amd-dude... but no luck on that file. Have PMed you.
Well this dropped to page 2 of listings a while back... I was really hoping someone might have a solution for rooting the L model at some point today.
The file called AceGingerRoot.zip worked on stock 2.3.4 L version (umkp3). Can't upload it right now, look for it in Latin android forums.

Thanks... in fact I just had that suggested a little while ago, and I've found 2 different versions.
Do you know if S5830L phones have been successfully UNrooted with the unroot.zip file I've found in many places after rooting with AceGingerRoot.zip?
It seems many methods of rooting require a matching unrooting file to work properly.
Well, i've never had the need to unroot.
Unroot is useful if you're taking your Ace to SAT without losing your warranty. Chances are, when that happens unrooting won't be possible (if only we had a brick for every time someone tried ROM MANAGER on their Ace).
If unroot.zip doesn't work, just reflash stock (or factory reset) and root will be gone. That's when CWM becomes useful, you can always restore your backup and have your phone the way it was.
This is the one i used to root my first time on stock 2.3.4 GT-5830L (on stock recovery, not sure if it works the same on CWM:
AceGingerRoot.zip

Downloaded my stock S5830LUBKP7 ROM from samfirmware and plan to flash with Odin if needs be. Just want to insure I can get warranty support.

But doesn't having CWM in there void the warranty too?

I take it you haven't tried unrooting with unroot.zip I don't know if unroot.zip resets everything AceGingerRoot.zip configures... but I read the very bottom of one webpage that might imply it would work.
Thanks so very much for your feedback dxppxd.
Well the rooting went very easily. I had a choice of 3 methods, but I just ended up extracting 'updater-script' from root.zip, adding an L to the end of GT-S5830 in the script, made a new zip archive with it, and flashed the phone in recovery mode. Tested unrooting with unroot.zip too, and that worked fine.
Now on to installing CWM and backing up the exiting ROM. I originally found v4.0.0.9 for the Ace, but now see see Yagya has a v5.0.2.6.
Does anyone have a link to info on what all CWM can do, and if there's any reason to prefer the older version over the new?
hi i was wondering if you could up load the file you changed to root your phone with im having the excaxt same problem.

Here's the root.zip I modified and the unroot.zip file that was basically the same file I found online in several places. Post back and let me know if it works for you.
I had the same problem as you.
The one who worked was AceGingerRoot.zip
Its the same method to install as upd_1.zip
Just other files and other name.

That zip had one extra file in the archive that my root.zip didn't have, and 2 that were very different. Also I found the same root.zip file paired in several places online with the exact same unroot.zip. So since I'm still just learning Android/Linux, I felt safer making a simple change (adding the L) to the root.zip file and gambling that the matching unroot.zip file would work properly to undo the changes that root.zip had made.
I couldn't find any web pages that offered any matching file to unroot the changes that the version of AceGingerRoot.zip they offered as a download would make. But the various versions of AceGingerRoot.zip and root.zip are so similar I'd bet you'll find that unroot.zip file will probably unroot your phone too. Have you tried it?
I'm having the same problem, when i try to update from sd card, it aborts in the middle of the proccess.
Have someone already succesfully rooted for the Ace gt 5830L, if the answer is yes, can you provide a guide for the method (and the working update)?
Thanks in advance

Hey buddy I also have the GT 5830L and could not root it with any other files out there, So I downloaded TakuSkan's root.zip from POST #14 and "used it" from the recovery menu and it worked like a charm.

you can try other rooters on My Android collections link below, or it may be easier to just flash a semaphore or CF Root kernel with Odin to install superuser app on your phone

I rooted my phone using this link: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjw4-root-and-clockworkmod-recovery-for-galaxy-s/
Take a look.
Sorted out It was my drivers, they needed updating ive rooted and installec a custom rom :victory:
Where would I get CF-Root or CWM for this device? I've been ROMing for the Galasy S/S2/S3 for a while now, but a friend has asked me to do my thing to his Galaxy Ace. There are ROMs for it, but I can't find the CWM/CFRoot packages to get started, and I've read through the forums. I'm sure they're there, I just must have missed them.
If someone could link me to an ODIN package with CF-Root+CWM for this device it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks, but the problem is that I can't find the appropriate CF-Root for this device. I've looked through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
This phone I have is running gingerbread XWKS9 but I can't seem to find either a CF-Root to match that build, nor can I find a list of old stock firmwares just so I can downgrade to one of the ones listed in the CF-Root thread in order to get CWM on there.
Any pointers? A thread with either ODIN packages for old firmwares OR a CF-Root link for XWKS9 would be great.
The cf-root work with all the stock rom.
Too with the firmware XWKS9

The kernel in the link is for another device, it won't on ace.Firmwares doesn't matter, just check if it really is the original ace and not a variant.

Really? Are you 100% sure about this? I've been diligently matching the firmware version with the CF-Root version all this time and you're telling me I don't have to?
As long as it is cf-root for the ace, firmware doesn't matter since cf-root preserves baseband. Just make sure you're on gingerbread and not froyo.

OK I'm still having problems, and I'm feeling pretty noobish at the moment despite the fact that I've ROMed about 100 phones of various models to everything from stock to MIUI.
I do not know how to proceed for this device. I have a stock Galaxy Ace, running GB 2.3.5 KS9 firmware. I can only find CF-Root packages for flashing in CWM, but I cannot find a CF-Root/CWM package flashable in ODIN, which is usually my first step in installing custom ROMs.
Am I really just dense or are things done differently in the Galaxy Ace?

Then flash it through cwm5. Root the ace, flash cwm5, flash cf-root, enjoy.
I don't know if there's an odin flashable cf-root for ace, but being so easy to root and flash stuff through recovery, why would you want that?

I bet you need it because you want to install a rom...
Well, you can do it without root, simply install this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s-advance/general/rom-modded-cyanogenmod-11-t3387424
Then you'll be able to install any other rom you want.
Here is the root file for gti9070
