Just get one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463387
(as mentioned in your other thread)
it doesn't have to be 100% the same, in which case during the OTA update, the stock recovery will hang, and you'll have to force a reboot yourself (POWER + VOLDOWN), so that it can reboot and continue the update.
are you sure that if I don't use the exact version I will be ok ???

yes, three possible outcomes:
1- it reboots to stock recovery, but after a short time, it changes to red triangle -> either stock recovery you chose didn't like it, or your not 100% stock ROM... are you 100% stock ROM?
2- it may hang at one point (because it's unable to issue the "self-reboot" command correctly due to the minor difference), and you'll have to force the reboot yourself, and let it continue it's business, it may hang again at the end (same reason), and you'll need to force the reboot again, then everything will be stock.
3- it goes through without a hitch.
Probably give 2.24.401.1 a try.
I'm on the original orange rom .
thanks for helping

can you elaborate on the "ps ive downloaded and installed the update", because the "i get a phone with a red triangle", is somewhat misleading.
please check Settings -> About

I apologize if this is a repetitive post but I urgently need to know how to get back my first ROM ( unrooted, no cwm or anything ).
Details about my phone :
-Asian? lol I live in a country called Brunei, next to Malaysia.
-When I unboxed it, it was froyo and it had an update to gingerbread so I did it straight away
- gingerbread before rooting
And about unrooting it, do I just flash one ZIP file which removes superuser or something? Can someone link a guide or something? Thanks in advance!

What is the difference between the Asia_HK rom (assuming it is HongKong) and the Asia_WWE rom ?
I tried installing the Asia_HK rom and I couldn't get any OTA updates (from 2.3.5 to 2.3.7).
Also, I had to change the language from chinese to english. Basically, followed all the steps given in the tutorial, but it just didn't work .
my main aim of going back to stock was for the OTA updates. currently, am back to Virtuous Quattro RC3.

Help needed.
I have unlocked the bootloader via htcdev.com and flashed a recovery and flashed a custom rom.
Now When I tried to restore back to Stock rom(from the backup which i took before flashing new rom), It takes me back to recovery all the time after reboot.
I manually flashed boot.img from the back up folder too.
Still it takes me to recovery all the time. I mean, After restoring, It will just reboot and take me to recovery. Even logo "HTC Quietly Brilliant" wont show up.
My phone is S-ON.
I really need to get back to stock rom.
Please help me.

Are you manually flashing the boot.img file while recovery mode, or are you rebooting into FASTBOOT USB mode and flashing it?
When you restore a backup in recovery mode, the boot partition cannot be written to. You must reboot into FASTBOOT USB using the command:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
You must copy the boot.img file from you SD card to your PC to run the Fastboot command.

I am sorry if there has already been a question posted on this, if so please direct me in the right way.
I have the HTC Developer Edition and am currently on Software 1.29.1540.3 and my phone has issued me the update (hurray! I need to fix the dam home and back buttons! so annoying...anyway) When I try to do the update (1.29.1540.16), my phone loads me into my custom recovery (ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1) which then issues begin! Forever is stuck in Run Bug_fix tool. WHY?! WHY?!?!?!?!
I have provided pictures of the steps that my phone goes through so if you can tell me anything about it, please do so thank you!

@x017in: Sorry for the naive question. I still have a lot to learn about android. I have rooted my phone to put down CWM. Now I know that I am having custom recovery, but I am not sure if I am having custom ROM or stock ROM. Custom ROM refers to s.th like Cyanogenmod, right?
Yep. That's what custom Rom means.. so now you need to put back the recovery that came stock with the phone. Only then will the OTA update work

probably a bad download, that's why it got stuck, did you check the MD5 sum? try downloading again, and make sure the zip is not corrupt.
also, if you don't want to loose your custom recovery, in Aroma deselect "stock recovery" while flashing

You can't run the RUU yet, you need to get s-off first using rumrunner
Try this: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-707-1-zip/
Download & install with full WIPE + stock recovery + stock radio, and no root. You should then check for an OTA update and update to 2.24.707.3. Then use the rumrunner package for 2.24.707.3

Nope just "install zip" in recovery, Aroma is included (it just gives you the options when flashing), you should
WIPE
select "stock recovery"
select "stock radio"
do not select "root'
once you reboot to the ROM, check for software update to 2.24.707.3 and do that, but no other updates
You'll have to clear dalvik cache in some cases! If have you done it and still have the same prob, make sure you have downloaded the proper ROM and all others have no problem flashing it!
If its still struck at boot.., get some other ROM!

strange, my recovery never says that even when I don't have an OS installed. Try flashing again, and if it says success, go ahead and reboot.
Hello, I recently unlocked my bootloader and flashed a recovery. I flashed a new ROM, TikTak 4.42. After flashing the rom from CWM it started and went to a constant blue screen.
I flashed a new recovery via fastboot and flashed the rom again, it started but when it got to the locale selection and restarted after 2 seconds. This would repeat over and over. I decided to do a wipe, but inadvertantly wiped my storage too.
I pushed another ROM to the device via adb and flashed that via CWM, same problem as the constant rebooting. I tried to flash a RUU from fastboot but got a "Signature Fail" error.
My phone has access to the bootloader and recovery. My storage is empty so I have no roms on my phone. In mounts and storage it always says "mount /system" and "mount /data". Could this be a problem with system?
If you have any questions please ask, I'm quite new to all this so may not have included everything necessary. If anyone can help me fix my phone totally, I could make a small donation thorugh paypal
Thanks in advance
SK

TikTak 4.42..?
my guess is that it's cwm causing your problems, may I suggest trying twrp instead

Thank you both for the replies, I'll be sure to read them now, and will try TWRP.
I can't seem to find an RUU for my device, it's hutchinson 3g, uk, which has the 3 digits 771. I can't find that in any of the listed RUU's

I tried flashing the rom with twrp but have the same problem, it boots up, gets to the choose location menu and then reboots. If it's important, when I'm in the bootloader it says "OS- (blank)"

Thank you for helping! I think I may have worded my last reply badly. My recovery works, I'm currently on twrp, and I can flash a rom. When i flash the rom, I reboot the system, goes through boot screen etc, gets to choose locale i.e UK, USA, its the normal android start up, then it just crashes and reboots

well, your nearly there!
it might be worth trying 'fastboot erase cache' to flush out any gremlins
