As a result of trying to compile Omnirom for Galaxy Ace, i got the TWRP recovery (needed to fix some things in onmiarmv6 sources to get a working TWRP
Warning : Only works on Cyanogenmod/Omnirom based roms, IT WON'T WORK ON STOCK BASED ROM'S, i have just warned you !
Changelog:
2.7.1.0
Add GUI option to change or repair file systems on individual partitions. The change is destructive so backup your data including internal sdcard first. This option should make it a little easier to migrate a device from ext4 -> f2fs, for instance. You will find this option under Wipe -> Advanced Wipe, then select only one partition and then press the Repair or Change File System button.
Various bugfixes to backup and restore
Improvements to USB storage handling
Added a class to search for files to make finding the correct brightness file automatic in most cases
Various other bugfixes and tweaks
Faster graphics rendering by disabling alpha blending on fully opaque objects thanks to Tassadar
Allow sideloading from /tmp on encrypted devices
2.7.0.0
Check crypto footer before offering to decrypt
Add word wrap to console output and fix scrolling in console
Restore capabilities to run-as binary
Tweak 240x240 theme
Change qcom time error messages to info
Check auto generated backup names for invalid characters
Remove unneeded logging
Allow sideloading from /tmp
Remove some unneeded code

I think you must flash kernel after restoring twrp backup. There is same issuie as on previouse version. TWRP cant find /boot and /recovery partition.
BTW good job :good:

Blue-Screen here too.
This caused me to go on a little adventure and figure out how to flash a ROM without a recovery at all. Managed to flash omni-4.4.2-cooper-NIGHTLY-PS completely via ADB.

This project has been discontinued. Any dev please feel free to take over the project.
Hey guys, i present to you a new updated version of CyanogenMod Recovery a.k.a CWM 6.0.1.4. The current version that we use is 5.0.2.6
The new permanent build is up. Its no-more a WIP.
But still please test and report back.
Edit : The bricked ace is causing a lot of problems. I cannot test the recoveries. If possible please consider donating so that i can get it repaired.
Donation link below my profile picture.
Declaration :
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]You are using this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any bricks or thermonuclear wars.[/COLOR]
Permanent version : CWM 6.0.1.4
How to flash :
Download the zip and put it in the sdcard.
Reboot to recovery and flash the zip.
Reboot to system. (This system is very important as it links all recovery files to the system.)
Now reboot to recovery and enjoy.
PS : The backups created by this CWM are indeed very small in size. Its a new feature. Don't come running to me asking why it happens. Read below about how it works.
Changelog of CWM 6 :
As said by Koush himself -
Changes:
New backup format that deduplicates data between backups.
Faster backups.
Fixed restores > 2GB.
Minor UI tweaks (new background, animated Android)
Create Android Update Zips on device : Using this new feature, anyone can create an update.zip package of their currently installed ROM for others to use.
Future:
In the past, I have merged/rebased every CWM with AOSP. With Jellybean, I have decided this is no longer in the best interest of the project. There are only a few areas of AOSP recovery that are of interest (roots.c - file system, minui, and updater). Those will continue to be merged into CWM. Other than that, doing a full rebase with every code drop has been a giant headache, with the code churn from upstream that providing little to no value to CWM.
In any case, this unties my hands to deviate completely from AOSP, with the primary goal to make a much more polished touch UI.
ROM Manager
ROM Manager is a little over 2 years old, and though it has grown in features quite a bit since its first incarnation, parts are starting to show its age. I've been contemplating a significant UI rewrite for some time now, and will pull the trigger on that shortly. I also want to add in some features that I am hoping will be of some interest:
* A paid ROM section for devs to publish their work and support their hobby.
* Upload your current ROM to ROM Manager for anyone to use, from the device.
* Connect ROM Manager to the Recovery Builder for automatic updates of recovery. No device left behind
Speaking of the Recovery Builder; it has been pleasantly successful. To date, around 1700 recoveries have been built. Many for devices ROM Manager currently does not even support.
Anyways, if you have any suggestions for the future of ClockworkMod products, please drop me a line!.

Here koush explains how the backup size is so small :
New ClockworkMod Backup Format
TL;DR:
Don't delete /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
I've gotten a few questions about how this works, so I figured I'd make a post on it.
Basically, here's what happens:
The files being backed up are hashed (sha256, not that it matters). Then it checks for a file with the name of the hash in
/sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
So, if the hash of the file was c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c63 37ceb24de6f5ed, it looks for /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs/c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c63 37ceb24de6f5ed
If the hash file is found, it continues on to the next file. Otherwise, it copies the file to the blobs directory with the file name being the hash.
ROMs and user data, for the most part, do not change too much between builds and backups. So, your APKs, system files, etc, are generally only stored once. This saves a ton of space. Especially between incremental backups.
Some of you may be thinking "well, how do I delete a backup?".
First, never delete the blobs directory. This would actually delete all your backups by rendering them unusable.
Simply delete the usual backup directory, and the next time you run a backup, all the unused hash files will be automatically delete (a process known as garbage collection). The recovery will show "Freeing space..." while this is happening.

it's permanent? or we have to install every time?
Hello guys,
After roaming around almost a year and half around xda, doing something fruitful
Here i present my first CM11 based kernel,
Disclaimer : You installed Kernel ,on your device ,I am not responsible .
If you installed kernel ,on a device ,without reading instructions ,I don't give a Damn !
Warning : I don't support Nandroid Restore
Attempting to use Nandroid Restore can lead to a perma brick .
Consider Nandroid to be permanently broken on this kernel.
Features :
100 mb shrinked from system to /data (For more internal memory ofcourse )
cache reduced to 8mb
Some touch tweaking (11 mb more ram Thanks @Dark Raven )
Toolchain used:
Linaro 4.7 by @Wedgess
Unique Feature
Modified partition layout which works flawless as far as my knowledge .
One Layout is maintains original system Layout ,The rest of 5 layouts come with Modified System Layout .
All Kernels have 8 MB cache partition so by default roughly 90MB bump in /Data is seen .
The best results with latest LX builds
-CM11.0-
Changelog:
Code:
V3
-- 201401227--
Reclaimed 66 mb more space
Same as LX 20140122 LX CM11 build
V2
-- 201401227--
Reclaimed 6 mb more space
Same as LX 20140122 LX CM11 build
V1
-- 20140122 --
Like in 20140122 LX CM11.0 build.
Steps to be followed:
Flash kernel (boot.img)
Boot to recovery, do all the wipes (data, cache, system, dalvik)
flash the rom zip
flash the minimal gapps if u want (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48535200&postcount=4)
boot
Note:
1) If you donot format system the rom wont boot even if your on same rom with different kernel. SO its mandatory
2) Flashing the whole gapps will result in a bootloop as i have shrinked a good amount of system size (~100mb)
3) You can run ART well but please donot report issues if your running ART as it is experimental (mike already said that)

first of all..great work.:good:
but without the capability to use restore we are stucked to the rom we are using..cant flash any addons or backup your rom to restore if anything goes wrong..that features must be available if you can.
backup and restore are essential on any kernel, hope you guys can fix it.
once again, wonderful work and thanks for your effort.

I personally like the default ui, but decided to add more themes for you to choose from. But in case you want more themes there are alternatives, you can grab em here Ave_Hornet, SethPDA and annson08 And make sure that the theme is compatible with your current twrp version.
Manual Installation:
Download the theme of your choice and rename it to " ui.zip "
Navigate to Internal storage "/data/media/0/TWRP" and create a new folder name "theme"
Place the "ui.zip" inside the theme folder similar to this "/data/media/0/TWRP/theme/ui.zip".
Reboot to recovery and enjoy
Don't forget to hit the thanks button for z31s1g, Ave_Hornet, SethPDA and annson08

Regarding IMEI, I think it might work since TWRP will backup the partitions responsible for our device equipment identity. I haven't tried it though, since I haven't lost my IMEI on this device. I was able to try with my previous mtk6582 device thanks to this thread. And regarding Aroma FM, I guess it doesn't work with the latest twrp, use the built-in filemanager for now

I mean, they should label this recovery you made as official! I think there are no bugs in this recovery that you made, it should be called official and be uploaded to the official TWRP site...

Cool! Where's that UI from?
---------- Post added at 06:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:52 AM ----------
Never mind, I just understood.
By the way, when I change the filesystem of any partition to f2fs, TWRP cannot mount it.

It will be the default twrp UI, soon
This build was not built with f2fs enabled, a separate build is recommended since a kernel with f2fs enabled is also needed. i will look into it when i get the chance.

The Material TWRP 2.8.7.0 for sprout has the chmod 644 button. It makes pushing system apps easier. In this build, there's no such button. I have to type it manually. I hope that button can be added. Thanks

Dude, you should send a request to z31s1g regarding the issue, besides I use 755 more often You could do it yourself by unpacking the img file using AIK, then look for /twres/ui.xml or portrait.xml and search for the line containing chmod "755" and replace it with "644". Another option is to use a 3rd party theme such as material, or use the repacked version :good:
Anyhow, I have successfully compiled a working TWRP w/ f2fs support. Unfortunately, it seems like our kernel implementation of f2fs is messed up at the moment since none of my compiled f2fs enabled kernel works with a patched fstab, even f2fs enabled custom kernels such as monarch and zigzag were not able to get past the boot animation. i will look into it once again when M sources arrives.
Please add mounting of SD card after making it internal memory in Marshmallow. Really hard to flash zips via sideload

I tried, but it looks like the internal storage feature of Android M is encrypted. As soon as teamwin found a way to support this feature I will update this recovery.

No, It might work by porting, upload your device boot.img and I will try.
Well since you are here you should know what is TWRP . Anyways here is Wikipedia For You
Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and back up the current system, functions often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when rooting Android devices, although it isn't dependent on a device being rooted to be installed.
I wanted to use the latest version of TWRP and hence started working on this project. It did take a lot of time and failures and HELP..!! from a lot of people especially @tank0412 who helped me to solve a lot of errors during compiling.

The problem was with the version in zip file(of theme). I have modified it. Download from here : https://goo.gl/eDgHAf
Send me link if you want any other theme to be compatible.
I will update TWRP soon so it accepts most of the themes.

Thank you for responding. I am using Vinces 3.2.1 but dont see the efs, imei partitions for backup. It only shows Dalvik/Art, System, Boot & Recovery. I may be wrong about vinces latest versions , do they show efs and imei paritions and also frankly I have not tried the latest that comes with his rom, do they detect sd card without issues because, one of his earlier versions had sd card issues and then I downliaded this version of vince 3.2.1 which I use currently as it is always safe for me.
