Any one know if there's a one click root method coming out. Kind of a noob to the z1 if you couldn't already tell. I just got my z1 today on 4.3. Searching for everything and found vroot and kingo but none root on 4.3. I actually have the c6906 and there isn't as many methods for mine, mostly the c6902 and the c6903. Any solid methods for the c6906? I saw the videos and weren't much help when looking for the ftf files. I'm using on AT&T. Is there a solid ftf file for c6906 on AT&T.

You don't need to use region specific FTF's. Just use any FTF for c6906. You can find a rooting video guide in my signature.
Most likely one click root will NOT be available. It is too hard to find root exploits, and if there is a method available there is no point for developers to waste their time. Especially that new firmware versions keep being released.

I can't find any c6906 ftf files that aren't linked to Mega. We can't use Mega here in the US. You got any c6906 working links? and if I use any region ftf will I still be able to use it on AT&T?

we do not have root yet, our bootloader is currently unlockable. There is a bounty threat about root for our device.

Yeah I understand but can I do the flashing process or not
There arw no compatible roms to flash... You need an unlocked bootloader or root exploit to rom we have neither.
To all z1c / z1s users, i dont recommend u to unlock the bootloader of your device now
1. U will lose DRM key, bionz and X-reality will be gone (X-reality may be able to restored, but not possible for Bionz for now)
2. U may think about TA backup. But before doing TA backup u need to have the bootloader never unlocked yet but have your device rooted, in which this condition is impossible currently.
3. yeah, sucks to be u, but there arent so much thing u can enchanced on the z1c and there seems wasnt so much rom for u to install curently. plz wait

Just checked and it appears that there is a new FW certified. I hope this is for the UK generic as I have not received the 7.0.A.3.195 or .197 FW yet. I am still running 7.0.A.1.303.
Why not just flash the ftf?

The 195 firmware in the all-in-one thread is for Vodafone UK (and one for O2 UK I've just seen added.)
Just like Batman, I'm waiting for the generic UK version. Up to you though SWFlyerUK.
Any difference between them?
My phone was bought from and locked to Orange.

Thats fine, but all you have to do is remove the bloatware and you will end up with a debranded FW, that is of course if you want to root, and on this FW you need to unlock the bootloader to do that.

none at all, you will just get some extra vodafone bloatware apps that can be removed with titanium backup, again with the proviso you want to root.
Thanks for the quick response, determined not to mess with this phone, so it's rooted but will keep bootloader locked and stock firmware

Thats fine, but if you update to .195 you will have to unlock the bootloader in order to root it again, unless a new exploit is found.
Hi all please help me
My phone was bought from and locked to Orange.
Orange blocks fastboot and assumes simlock.
can i unlock My bootloader? if so, how.
due to the original method: allowed-NO
(so sorry my english is poor)
Goto the dial pad and type
#*#*service*#*#
Look for the menu to see if bootloader unlocking is allowed.
If it is then follow my guide in the all in one thread on how to unlock via the official Sony way

U don't need to unlock ur bootloader mine is for example able to be unlock I choice not to because u gonna lose bravia engine 2 meaning pictures video etc won't look as good anymore. Anyway to answer ur other question u need a ftf 4.2.2 rom from a C6603 I would go European because u won't find an USA C6603 ftf. Don't worry they all have English. So ftf rom, flashing tool, dual recovery, doomlord easy root, that is the 4 tools u need. Well actually only 2 of u don't wanna root or have a recovery.

Just to add; you cannot unlock the bootloader on a C6606, so custom kernels etc are not an option for you. So, you will have to stick to stock based roms.

So, I can flash a ftf of 4.2.2 stock rom from C6603 on my C6606 by using flash tool? There are too many t-mobile apps installed in the system that I just never used them.
Yes u can and u will be basically bloatware free and u should be still able to delete a lot of the apps that still come on that C6603 roms. The only thing u gonna lose is t mobiles wifi calling option but other then that u have a much cleaner rom and with 4.2.2 there are even small enhancements. Oh and u need to reapply all the apn settings and lte settings again on ur phone after flashing a C6603 ftf

I got my phone last weekend and have been reading through the forums to get answers for questions as the come up. On the T-Mobile support forums I thought I read that they didn't release the 4.2 update because of issues that were present in the update. Someone there said they are going to release 4.3 and skip the 4.2 all together. Would European versions of stock software carry the same bugs for 4.2? I don't even know what the problems/bugs are.
I'm mainly interested in rooting the phone so I can get titanium back up running, greenify, and disable the bloatware. I'm rather fine with the stock Sony firmware.

I was exactly in the same boat as you till a couple of days ago. Bell's official veriosn is still 4.1.2 if you can beleive it!!
So i went ahead and flashed the 4.3 journalists rom thats available here. Works amazing..smooth as butter and blazingly fast.
No point in waiting for upgrade to show up on your phone. You'll be lucky to get 4.3 by middle of next year from Bell!! they're pathetic when it comes to sony upgrades..

Ftf files are original firmwares.
Can be flashed to unlocked or locked boot loaders.
Locked loaders only prevents to flash 3th party kernels.

Press the power and volumn down button ..
Two days ago I purchased the Z1 from a local retailer (Tel Aviv, Israel), not realizing that it was the C6902.
The problem is that its customization version is 1278-3595_R1A (software: 1272-6084_13.1.G.2.257.)
I hadn't realized that .257 cannot be rooted prior to updating to it because the OS prompted me to shortly after I first booted it up, so I was hoping to downgrade to .535, root, and update it to 4.3, and then install a custom ROM.
However, I gather from the thread with all the FTF collections (here) that no customization versions of 1278-3595_R1A exists. Does this meant that I can neither root nor install a custom OS?
(why I figured this is important: here.)
In conclusion, I assume that C9603 will get better and quicker dev support, so should I return my current C9602 and purchase the C9603 online (Ebay) while I still can?
Bonus question: why the hell does the C6902 even exists if it's just the C6903 without the LTE? Better to have it and not use it -- no?
(Note: LTE, or any form of 4G networks, including WiMix, is and will be unavailable here in Israel for the foreseeable future - at least to the general public.)
Thank you.
Just noticed that the title should be "C6903 vs. C6902 + Customization Version". I mistakenly misplaced the two digits in C6903.

As long as the ROM is based off of stock Sony firmware you are good. Look for the "LB" (lockedbootloader) tag withing the ROM title, and you should also see instructions if you have a LB.

I can't remember what t-mobile firmware I was on (6 months ago) when I rooted, but I know I used a @DooMLoRD method...I think this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386405)
You can always use flashtool to install a generic .67 FTF, then root and install recovery. This is the safest way to go, but you will lose t-mobile specific functions like wifi calling, but also t-mobile bloat. If you are looking to install a custom stock ROM then you will be losing these functions anyways.
Just make sure you get the latest flashtool and drivers - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830.
EDIT: Actually I believe I used this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327472) to root as I was on the .166 firmware. The method above is what you want as .67 is what you'll need if making the jump to 4.3.
