Hi, I just recently switched to the gnex. to the xperia z, and the last xperia i had was the x10. I vaguly remember flashtool and what not. but the weird part is I have the C6616.. so idk how to upgrade it and be able to flash new roms. I have a locked bootloader and it can't be unlocked. I'm on 4.1.2 10.1.1.A.1.319 rn, is there anyway to update, root again, and then flash a rom (trying to get http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/rom-existenz-v5-0-0-ultra-edition-10-4-t2349656 )
can I just flash any ftf or does it have to be for c6616.. can it be c6603?

At the risk of being shot down in flames. What is the best way for going from 9.1.A.0.490 to 9.1.A.1.140 whilst retaining root etc?
I've got a std UK Xperia T, unlocked bootloader and generic european .490 and rooted.
Im looking for a basic step by step if possible, as I dont play around with the phone much. I managed to stuff up going to .490 which put me in a boot loop until I got it sorted. I prefer to avoid that scenario again if at all possible!
Thanks in advance
Update the official way via pccompanion and then rout again the same way you routed last time, probably by using bin4rys root many android method

No, In which case just flash .140 rom from the development section (My rom for example) but make sure it the right one for your phone, and flash it in recovery
Or just grab a FTF file of .140 and flash that in flashtool and then root like you did last time

Hi there
Just jumping on the "how can I update?" bandwagon, can I flash the Generic Central European fw onto my T? I am unrooted and have locked a bootloader. I'm in the UK and on EE. I have read the 1st post in the section saying this is fine to do, but I've also read an article on another website telling me that flashtool is only for unlocked bootloaders. Please can you advise?
You can flash using Flashtool with a locked bootloader and while unrooted.

Pccompanion = Only works on locked bootloader
Official Sony Flashtool (EMMA) = Only works on unlocked bootloader
Flashtool by Androxde and Bin4ry = Works on all devicex
Gave up after managing to get stuck on the sony logo.
Relocked bootloader, updated via SUS, unlocked bootloader and then rooted using bin4ry's method.
After releasing ROM update, there’s some people asking about DoCoMo ROM and how to flash ROM version 10.1.D.0.343 with root for locked bootloader. This won’t be a problem for people using custom kernel with recovery support as they can flash root in recovery. However, it’s impossible to get 10.1.D.0.343 rooted with locked bootloader through normal FlashTool methods so here I’m proposing solution for all Xperia Z DoCoMo lovers here.
This package contains three files. One for Flashtool file having system partition and wiping removed. Two for files in system partition of ROM version 10.1.D.0.343 having identical files removed. Three for optional wifi fix for people using DooMKernel as WiFi driver is different to ones in DoCoMo ROM.
Requirements:
1. Working Xperia Z having DoCoMo ROM version 10.1.D.0.333 flashed
2. Rooted
3. CWM/TWRP Recovery support
4. Latest FlashTool for Xperia Z
5. DoCoMo ROM version 10.1.D.0.333 Flashtool file in case you’re screwed up
Installations:
1. Copy xperia_z_docomo_10.1.D.0.343_update.zip to storage. If you’re using DooMKernel, copy xperia_z_docomo_doomlord_wifi_fix.zip as well
2. Shutdown and startup to Recovery menu
3. Flash copied files in 1) respectively.
4. Clear dalvik cache (not cache)
5. Turn off your phone
6. Open Flashtool and flash SO-02E_10.1.D.0.343_update.ftf file. Make sure to exclude baseband if you don’t use Japanese model and KERNEL/FOTA if you’re using DooMKernel.
7. Reboot. Now you should see phone starting up with ROM version 10.1.D.0.343 with root and recovery

Thank you so much!
Can you send me the latest version root for firmware .333 before I upgrade firmware .343?
And I don't use DooMKernel, can you send me the last compatible DooMKernel with my SO-02E firmware .333? How do I do with the new kernel?
I recommend flashing SuperSu v1.25 or newer after rooting. For kernel, just flash v06. It's from global ROM but I made wifi fix so that it can be used with DoCoMo now.

My bad. I made huge mistake forgetting to remove clearing system partition line in WiFi fix. Now it's fixed.
ZL?
does this one works on xperiaZL C6503?
i want docomo system coz im using docomo sim card. but my phone is rooted, chenged roms... lol pls help~~ ^^
My SO-02E is always stuck on the Sony logo after trying this update, I've already tried flashing the zip file with TWRP and CWM, not wiping cache and not excluding any file in Flashtool.
Hi,
I'm using the Japanese model (SO-02E from Docomo). My phone is already rooted and has TWRP recovery.
I just want to confirm that I do NOT exclude anything when using Flashtool, am I correct?

Me too, has anyone successfully got this working?
I did the following:
1. installed xperia_z_docomo_10.1.D.0.343_update.zip via TWRP
2. cleared the dalvik cache
3. flash SO-02E_10.1.D.0.343_update.ftf
All I get is a Sony logo
I have the 10.1.D.0.333.ftf and a nandroid backup so I can restore my backup
I think the xperia_z_docomo_10.1.D.0.343_update.zip is borked. I tried everything and it doesn't work
Yep, I've also tried using OTA Root Keeper but then the official update will have errors, so my SO-02E is stuck at 333.
Honestly there's really nothing from the Docomo ROM that I neither need nor use so I'll test out 10.1.1.A.1.253 explained from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282415 sometime this weekend.
I already have my nandroid and Ti backups and the 10.1.D.0.333.ftf in case I want (or need) to revert back.
I can't really find info about it (or I completely failed to find the obvious :s)
I have a Docomo Xperia Z with (unfortunately) a locked bootloader.
It got updated to .343 by my docomo shop when I sent it in for repairs... And I lost root in the process.
Could I downgrade it back to .333 by using flashtool? So I can root it, and then upgrade it to .343 with this trick?
Or is that a bad idea with a Docomo phone? Wouldn't want to brick it.

You can easily downgrade back to .333 using flashtool, root it then do whatever.
Personally I'm using the eXistanZ V3 ROM on my docomo XZ :good:

check out my thread on how to upgrade to stock .343 w/root.
You'll have to downgrade back to .333 using flashtool, root it and install XZDualRecovery. From there just use my files and you'll be on a stock .343 w/root and XZDualRecovery. I've tested this on my SO-02E and it works. You won't lose any data and apps when upgrading.
hello fellow docomo so-02e users, for those of you that is using roms other than docomo ones, did you get your nfc to work?

is it possible to flash a custom recovery and kernel in a docomo xperia z?
I have an Xperia Z Tablet (SGP311) want to update to 4.2.2 but for some reason won't let me OTA. Think maybe its because of unlocked bootloader or CWM. So before I just go ahead and use flashtool to update I want to know ill be able to get root access back. Think DooMLoRD's toolkit v17 I used before will work on this firmware for my model and could it hurt to try? Appreciate any help or advice in pointing me in the right direction.
tablet
you can only update by flashtool
Hello,
I have an Xperia Z1 - C6906 with a locked bootloader from Bell Mobility in Canada, I am wondering if there is any ROMs that support this model, and if so is there any caveats that I need to be award of for this model when flashing something that isn't an officially released version.
Regards
I'm using Monxdified 4.2.2 version (not 4.3) on my Bell 6906, no problem at all. Just follow the instructions.
Instruction on how to flash this ROM

I keep seeing you need to flash the firmware and kernel for your model, that isn't separate/done after flash - you just flash with the official firmware and then exclude it in flashtool?
I don't think its really worth it in my mind. If flashing custom roms, especially kernals is something you want sell your locked z1 c6906 and opt for one directly from Sony.ca which will be fully unlocked. If we can ever get root on locked bl and 4.3 then you can just "trim off the fat" apps with titanium and make it alot lighter running. I'm in the same boat as you with a 6906 from Bell. Was totally unaware of the locked bootloader lockdown before I bought it and I am suffering the consequence now. 6906's are still going for anywhere from $500-550 locally here so I think I am going to put it up for sale.
Anyways, just thought id share my thoughts as I'm in the same situation as you.
Cheers

Yeah, what I did was downloaded .257 Canadian version and after I flashed monxified ROM in recovery I flashed Kernel and Baseband of canadian .257 version in flashtool.

I am currently on .290 unbranded (I flashed it previously), I don't have the option right now of selling or changing phones so I am stuck with the locked boot loader at the moment. I am wanting to flash Pure Stock so I can get rid of all the bloat.
However the instructions state that I need to be on .534 to get root and install recovery. A couple questions - a.) the only 906 version of .534 is branded Rogers - would this cause any issue with my Bell phone. b.) as I am on .290 with a locked boot loader is there any issue with flashing to an older version?

Nope no issues with Rogers .537 at all. I've been flashing that ftf all the time. However, I would suggest staying away from .290 ROMs for now, because my first Xperia Z1 got bricked badly with ihackers 2.0 (.290) ROM. I had to buy a new one until this gets fixed (cant stay without a phone). I'm enjoying .257 ROM (with full root access) at the moment and not looking to jump into Rooted .290 unless I'm %100 it wont brick my device again.
So I've been playing around the last week or so with my 6906, and a 6806....
I've been able to root and install the recovery easy enough on a the generic .534 build that is in the FTF thread. I believe it's the rogers one... So it does seem to pull some of the bell crap out... Putting the twrp backup data back on, gives me some of the apps back, but it doesn't seem quite as bad. At least you can then uninstall it if you don't want it. <G>
However, I've been trying to get up to the .290 builds that Nut has been providing. However, on every attempt I've been getting to a soft brick, when I use the flashtool to put the Kernel and baseband on.... Reflashing the .534 build at that point, gets me up and running again without any issue.
There is a generic 290, and new 132 build for the canadian 6906 that have been posted, but no root.... If you want stock and no mods.....
I haven't tried anything else at this point, since I'm still getting my feet wet.
Hey guys I hate to resurrect this thread but can you point me in the right direction on finding a stock Bell FTF. Even any old ones that I can upgrade to after. I tried a generic CANADA one but for some reason its still show as a US after a flashtool. I need to go back to stock to send my 9606 in for warranty and dont want them to blame the firmware for hardware issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
Hello!
I am new to this forum and i have rooted my xperia z1 (c6903) using this guide
I have not unlocked the bootloader yet
However it required me to downgrade to a lower firmware.
I have downgraded the phone and rooted it but now i want to go back to the latest firmware but i want it to still be rooted.
I dont really know what to do.
