App Idea - loss prevention - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hello World! - first time posting sorry if something like this has come up or is out there and I just missed it.
Hi all so I have a simple idea but as I'm far from a programer and would only just dare call myself a power user at best for I can follow most of the guides here with little hitch and find the answers to most hitches I do come a cross but programing no.....
Just to though this out there.
When I walk away from my phone I get a small vibrate and a short message saying BT is disconnected on the Gear, ok fair enough but If i really forget my phone and walk away from it for some reason it is because I'm deeply occupied in something or distracted and sometimes a quick weak shake from the gear will go right under my attention thus the idea would be for.
a simple app that on the gear one could have an alarm that vibrates until the gear was accessed to turn the alarm of manually or BT reconnects.
Don't know how hard this might be but I would pay money for something like this in a app store
Some icing on the cake might be that an alarm goes off on both devices with audio alarm for the phone, you know if someone somehow lifts your phone or maybe a bag that you phone happens to be. but just an idea.
And Huge Thanks to all the people that have done great work here on making the Galaxy Gear awesome
Thank You

Havent tried but but i suppose you can sideload tasker and can setup a tasker task that tests for bluetooth connection and raise an alert as needed

Thanks for the response I was wondering if tasker might be able to do something like this and now you mention it I will load it and see. but I think it would be nice to see a dedicated app, but then I also think Sammy should of had something like this straight out of the gate but hey maybe I’m being crazy.
Cheers.

got to playing with this - i used the app Atooma which is in the Samsung Apps section of Gear manager. loaded it on the phone and the gear - basically a simplified tasker
- got it set so when the Gear gets out of range of BT and disconnect, the phone starts playing a tune
really simple to setup and works great.

great stopwatch/countdown timer program

hey guys, i've been looking for a stopwatch/timer program for my tilt for a while, and finally found a great free program.

Thanks, ive also been looking for something like this so i can use it to count down my time left on my Tacho.
Problem is, when its done, the alarm is too quiet. Would you be able to ask on the forum if he could make a configurable alarm sound so i could choose my own sound for example.
Also if you could make the count down time in full screen would be great.
Obviously all this is if you get the chance. Dont worry if you dont
Thanks for posting though, still useful.

I found if you hold stylus on the white part you get a menu that pops up. It allows you to set the stopwatch color (of the digits) and change the alarm. Those it seems the alarm sound has to be a windows media format. the only other option I had from my device was the dogbark file.
It limited but something.
Any chance on getting a screenshot of this app at all?

just thought I'd mention, it's a nice looking App, but doesn't wake the device from standby, works well though.

Thank you very much.
StopTime
I'll put a shout out for StopTime!
http://home.comcast.net/~jonsachs/#StopTime 2.0
It's free, and you can use any sound you want for the alarm (I think)
Has anyone used this successfully? DOES IT wake up the device when it is off?
Finally, the first post leads to a page that doesn't exist. Is this the same as Jonathan Sach's StopTime?
SPBTime is great!!! Try it.

Me. I use WM 6.1 with this soft flawlessly. It keeps counting properly after Off-on or Sleep-on.
I'm looking for something where I can configure an alarm every 30 seconds or so. Anyone know of anything, I want functionality similar to the stopwatch Timer '08 for my Mac.
problems with Stopwatch
I downloaded the Stopwatch cab to my Fuze and found several problems.
1. It only goes to the second. Not much use for timing laps on the track, etc.
2. The Start/Stop button was partially covered by the Reset button.

Cool apps. Thanks!
has anyone seen something similar that also sits on the today screen?
I'm off on a holiday in 3 months and want to know how many days till I go just by looking at my phone (without opening a program hence the today screen) I have searched the forums for a few weeks but haven't found anything yet (but that could just be my searching technique!!).
ideally to fit WVGA screen size
cheers

Sony Ericsson Tracker request

This is my first post, so sorry if I haven't put this in the right place!
I've been trying to get hold of the Tracker program from Sony Ericsson for my X1. I've found it on their website at www.sonyericsson.com/fun under the software link, but not for the X1. I've emailed Sony Ericsson asking whether it will ever be released and have been told in the usual manner that basically "No."!
So on to my point. Do any mightily clever people feel like giving this one a go? I really wanted to use it to take a look at my running route and analyse my progress, but it doesn't work!
Thanks in advance.
use GWatch, it's free and it's a stopwatch as well. you can also upload the gps coordinates from it onto google maps to show your route
http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gwatch/about
SportyPal seem to be WM's way of Symbian's Tracker
Thanks guys I'll give them a go. Sony Ericsson's Tracker has a really nice interface, but I guess as long as the other two do the same thing I'll be happy!
I use trackypro ...

I'm useing Sprtypal, mostly for cycling, some running and rollerbladeing. It is easy of use and nice clean design. Except tracking there is analyzeing. I did this workout minutes ago:

My device is XperiaX1

I have been using sportypal for some time now, it is really excellent stuff, that can help you with your running or cycling, especially when you are withoit a gps device.
I use the 'on the road' panel & GPS Cycle Computer >> http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-gps-cycle-computer-v3.html GCC is a little awkward as you have to create the maps via Google Earth, but the author has good instructions on how to do it.
I have G-Watch too, but haven't used it for anythign other than a countdown timer and a stop watch.
is the g watch free of charge??? or just trial version???

G-Watch is a freebie.
G-Alarm isn't
I have tried the cycle computer, but I couldn't get him running on my xperia, sometimes it turn on only with showing half of the screen, sometimes doesn't even run properly .
For now the sportypal is fine for me. ,

i use sportypal, too. i have a lot of trouble recording tracks properly on my X1 (r3a-spb mobile shell3). a lot of GPS errors, half recorded tracks. the support is eager to help..but until now the results are far from satisfying..maybe it is a individual problem of my setup. i don't have any hassle running other GPS apps like tomtom, etc.
clueless..
i installed the new version of sportypal..now it works as expected. great app.
a better battery life would be great...gps consumes a lot of power.
On the newest version 1.0.6 it has its own screen management program, that is saving on the power on the screen->and this gives some better batery life.

Its magic!!!

Yesterday as I was leaving work I noticed a new icon on my default (home) desktop called Android. I didn't put it there and have no idea how it got there. When you tap it, it opens a window with like 8 android system icons, txt, settings, ect. Its kinda handy I suppose but not really needed, but I'm really curious where the heck it came from. Anyone else see this on their device?
Sounds like a folder rather than a shortcut? Never seen it before and it's not one of the default folders either.
Yeah I think you're correct. All those functions I usually do from the (LP) dock, and its like the phone decided I use those enough that I need a dedicated folder!!?? Nothing else has changed, the first place I looked was "About Phone", everything is as it was before. Weird!
Edit: also I have LP set to not have text labels for any icons, but this one does say "Android", jesus phone indeed, ha!
Edit: Oh, and the graphic is a generic gray cellphone.
Screenshot??
Sure when I get home and have access to my computer/SDK
SDK? Looking at the spec list you don't need it?
You are aware you can use screenshot apps with root, right?

Yeah took a quick look at the Market and nothing really jumped out at me, and didn't have a lot of time to monkey around with my phone.

Not sure about the Android shortcut/icon, but the second screen looks similar to the popup that shows when you hold the home button. (recent activities list)
Looks like one of the default Folder Organizer items, do you have that installed? If so, you probably added the widget while it was in your pocket or something. I'd be less worried about your phone and start wondering if your leg is becoming self aware!

Bingo!! Its a widget selection for a program I have called App Organizer, having said that, it takes four (specific) keypresses to get it to a place where I never put icons. I always leave my default home screen devoid of any clutter, (except time), for viewing cool wallpapers.
So I guess I'm back to, did this program just decide, without any interaction from me to put an icon on my desktop? Certainly not earth shaking, but a little bit irritating having some guy behind a monitor deciding how I should use my device.
In the scheme of things theres probably a lot more than less of this going on behind the scenes than I can see, lol.
Thanks for the replies/help clearing this up!

How to permanently disable bluetooth Audio

On older Windows Mobile phones you could delete the codec for Audio and leave the one for phone. Maybe you could do this on older Android too, I can't remember.
Now it's just a Check Box to disable it.
Problem is, every time I start my car it gets re-enabled when it connects the phone. And sometimes will even start the music player on the phone. even when that source is not selected.
Car is 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 8.4AN Nav package.
It's Nav is no where as good as the Nav in the phone.
While this isn't an answer for bluetooth on the whole,
On the 8.4, go to the bluetooth settings, go to the second tab on the left for audio device, and disconnect there (while leaving the phone connected). As long as it has seen that once, I don't believe it attempts to reconnect it again unless you tell it to specifically.

good luck with this though
I'm not sure if this applies to HTC phones but on samsung ones you can longpress whichever pair device, select options, and uncheck media. This should disable music and should still alow phone calls to come thru

I think that's what the OP meant when they said:
"Now it's just a Check Box to disable it."
If not, that's entirely valid

Correct. I can disable it fine. Until the next time you start the car and it rechecks it.

[Q] Always active screen with animation

Is there any app, watch face or any option to keep the screen always with the active mode?
I know it will use a lot of batery but i only want it when i am at a party or something similar when you want to call atention. Because at after a day of use i still have like 70%, so batery isnt a problem. if anyone know how to have something similar i would be very gratefull.
I searched all forums and googled it a lot and I am suprised that noone asked anywhere for this.. maybe I dont know how to google anymore
Try out the app called StayLit Wear. It allows you to keep the screen on for a certain time or forever until you set it back to the default timeout. Being able to keep the screen on is also available in Wear Mini Launcher. Note that keeping the screen on for a long time may cause your watch to get hot.
