[Q] S3 Mini stuck in boot loop and unable to power off - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Have been using my S3 Mini fine for a couple of months now, running Maclaw's CM 11.0 mod. However, about 30 minutes ago the device freezed and rebooted, and now I'm stuck in the infamous boot loop. I'm seeing the "Samsung Galaxy S III Mini GT-I8190" screen, which is shown for between 30 seconds and a minute, and then the device automatically reboots.
I know how to boot to recovery mode and download mode, but the problem is that my phone doesn't want to ... I cannot turn off the device: if I remove the battery and put it back in after a couple of minutes, it automatically boots. I have tried all sorts of timings and pressing the recovery/download mode buttons before/during/after putting the battery, it just gets stuck at the boot screen :/
Any ideas how I can recover from this? Force the phone to power off completely, or enter recovery/download mode from the boot screen?
Thanks!
Update: it gets better/worse: when the battery runs out, the damn thing finally turns itself off. When it's shut down, I can boot it to download mode, recovery mode is not working. Ofcourse, I cannot stay for longer than about a minute in download mode, since the battery is empty ...
Plugging the device in to charge it: starts charging a bit, then automatically boots and gets stuck in the boot loop again ...
Update2: what the f ... Completely frustrated, I just unplugged the phone, upon which it restarted ... and loaded my OS. And then shut down again ofcourse, because of empty battery. I'm completely frustrated AND baffled right now

[Q] Help Please - Battery ran out...phone keeps restarting even in download mode.

Searched but not found a similar problem that has a solution. I ran my battery dead by mistake and now all it does is restart after a few seconds on semaphore logo if unplugged, or keep looping buffering circle/battery charge symbol when plugged in. 3BC takes it to download mode but it again restarts after a few seconds...no way near enough to flash anything. Any Ideas?
I was running latest makay rom (2.8.0) and Semaphore 2,9,15s......this seems pretty fatal to me but if someone knows better ill be a very happy man.
Thanks.
Keep it plugged in for a few hours and see if this fixes it.
I have quite the same issue with my SGS i9000. Im running on slim bean 4.1.2 i think and semaphore (quessing the same as above)
So the battery got drained to zero. I charged the battery to full capacity while my phone was turned off. It did this okay and charged battery to 100%. Then i booted my phone only to find out it to start looping in boot. (Start screen to semaphore and then restarts.)
i removed the battery for about an hour, and rebooted the phone but it didn't help at all.
Can't get into recovery (vol up + home + power), though it did go into download mode.

As i plugged my phone in in to charger it shows as the battery would be empty, but it doesn't begin to charge it.
Ill be happy to answer if i forgot to mention something important according this matter.
If you can go into download mode but not recovery mode, there is only one thing that you can do - flash an odin rom.

ill try that.
Thanks for the quick answer. Now lets see if that helps..
Tried keeping it plugged in for a few hours but with no joy, odin still recognises the device for the tiny bit of time that the phone it stays on, seen a few comments suggesting it's a battery problem. Have ordered a new one and will see what happens then. The old one was made in Sept 2010 and rarely been turned off since,so i guess its probably to be expected. Will post back when i get the new battery for other peoples future reference.

Hello
I have a Samsung Galaxy S exactly with this problem.
It has cyanogen mod installed.
When i try to turn it on, it shows the default Samsung logo, and then the cyanogen mod screen, it blinks, and displays the cyanogen mod again. After that it reboots and returns do displaying the Samsung logo. ... Inifinite loop!
When i try to plug it in to charge, it shows the battery logo, and a "waiting" or "starting" to charge, blinks, reboots, starts recharging, another loop.
Both loops only stops by removing the battery.
Exactly as this thread describes.
Also, i cannot enter recovery mode: volume up + home + power, but it can enter download mode: volume down + home + power.
Is there any way of getting it to boot other than deleting everything on the phone, as i assume reflashing it would do?

I also can't enter recovery, doesn't have time to boot that far. If it is like mine then you will be unable to stay in download mode for long enough to flash anything...if you can get to download and it not reboot again, you have some hope. You could possibly flash a different kernel via odin, semaphore possibly, and see if that helps, but if not you would have to flash back to stock and re-root etc (data will be lost). I will report back when i get a new battery and see if that is the issue (Friday Hopefully), I feel it might be battery issue because my ROM had been running perfectly for days and it started when i let battery completely discharge.

Flashing will only delete app data. All your photos and music files will remain.
Just an update... Battery hasn't arrived yet due to snow here. But just by chance I left the phone bootlooping without charger in and it randomly decided to not bootloop. Was able to flash stock with odin root, upgrade to CM 10.1 and restore my nandroid. Oh well.

[SOLVED]
I recovered my Galaxy Y(s5360) by flashing another kernel from recovery mode in those few seconds for which recovery mode was starting...
I tried that but got soft brick, not enough time to flash kernel image. My power button is now broken so I feel that it may have been stuck in the on position. Think it's stuck in off now. Oh well

It refused to enter recovery or download mode...:crying:
I got home and tried to connect to my pc, nothing hapened. I tried charging it, but no signs of charging. Tried ADB, couldnt recognize my device...
I was on Aylum 4.4.1(6 DEC nightly) using herna's kernel and rooted using SuperSU 1.80. No extra mods installed. Was running fluidly for 2 days...no freezes, etc. And suddenly died....
Please guys help me out. Is my note bricked?
Try removing the battery and waiting 10 minutes. After that then put the battery back in and try to boot it up. If that doesn't work then try a different battery in your phone or try to recharge you current battery through a recharger (you can buy them on ebay)

[Q] Phone on boot loop

So I tried to flash a rom today. Well, I tried to update it. I know I shouldn't have, but I aborted the process because it got hung up on the same thing for 10 minutes. Surprise, everything's screwed up. But don't worry, I fixed it. I literally re-constructed the system image through adb (the system folder was just deleted for some reason) and got the phone to boot again. But then the network wasn't working anymore, so I flashed the rom again and nope still not working. So then I flashed it AGAIN and my phone was low on battery and I was in class and it flashed fine, but then it shut off during boot. And now it's constantly turning on and booting over and over, and the battery is super low, and I can't access recovery. Or the bootloader. No combinations work, nothing. So here I am, completely at my own fault and stupidity. Ideas?
Here's the symptoms:
I plugged it in after class, 0% charge. Oops. Not supposed to do that.
Waited. Waited. Got to bootloader, tried to enter recovery. Not enough battery, waited.
Got to recovery, tried to boot normally, and now it gets the the "powered by android" screen for a couple of seconds, shuts down, and restarts the process.
My theory:
The phone is so low on battery it can't continue booting, so it shuts off. It uses what little battery it has to put the screen brightness on full and boot, repeat.
PDATE:
It's been a good hour or so, and the phone still shows 0% charge and wont boot. It's really hot.

Frozen on reboot

Hi,
I was using my Galaxy Tab S2 when it suddenly shutdown. I'm not sure if the battery was empty but I'm pretty sure that not.
I tried to reboot the device but the screen displayed the charging battery image. I tried to charge it during 2 hours.
Since then, when I'm booting, the screen display the samsung home page and ... that's all. I tried to push power and vol- but it doesn't change anything. It loop on the home screen and reboot.
I can enter in Odin Mode ... but I don't know if it can help.
Any idea about what can I do ?
Thx a lot.

SM-G920C refuses to do anything other than bootloop when plugged in.

I reflashed the stock firmware on my phone after it was throwing some errors on boot, and once it got to the Updating... screen it changed to Erasing... and was stuck for over an hour before I did a force shutdown. After that it entered download mode one time (in which I did not do anything with odin) and now:
Turns on and gets stuck on the Note5 splash screen when plugged in or put on a charging pad, force shutdown works in this state.
No change to the above when holding vol+ and - or any other button combo before charging
Power button does nothing outside force shutdown, it will not boot off the charger when holding it nor do recovery or download mode shortcuts work
None of this changes after running flat and recharging
The buttons were all functional before, so I am guessing they still work. Have I hard bricked it?
