UPDATE! Check out the Metal Gear Solid 4 Sounds in the next post!
So I got my galaxy gear, and after installing null rom I'm loving it!
I used ifont to install a modified segoeui light font to have everything lowercase and the effect is just amazing! (it should have came like this!) (dl link below)
I also have sideloaded some super useful apps that work 100% (paid apps are brought via titanium backup (backup on phone move it to watch and restore on watch))
APPS:
Fine Chromatic Tuner (to tune my violin)
Sworkit (Pro) to workout in small quick intervals
Silence! (since it doesn't mirror the phone's silent times)
GMD Gesture Control (to add a menu and home gesture [this is super useful, I have it mapped to other apps too including Nova Launcher])
Speed Reader <- this one is amazing, (I'm actually using it until spritz comes out) but it lets you read text (like books and stuff) super fast, I can coherently read "Divergent" at 600 words per minute.
(Make sure to set the bg color to black and the text to whatever color)
to help optimize the speedreadrer app (so it takes advantage of the OLED screen) I also use
Full!Screen <- removes the status bar (be careful it also, for some reason, removes the recent app list)
Ultimate Rotation Control <- forces everything to remain in portrait mode so I can actually use apps that force landscape (and make it perpendicular to your hand)
Screen filter <- to read at night and lower the brightness intensity! (the grey probably affects the OLED black battery life thing)
I would post links but the system won't let me ahaha

Do you guys have anything you recommend putting on also?
Got some awesome sounds on my gear! (replaced the touch sounds and the charger sounds with effects from MGS4)
Use the Media Human converter to convert anything into an OGG file
Place all the .ogg files except for Ticktac.ogg into /system/media/audio/ui
USING ROOT BROWSER! (place on sdcard then use root browser to replace the files in the folder)
Ticktac.ogg goes into /system/media/audio/alarms
You can also set the codec sound as the ringtone by putting in on the SDcard in a folder named "Ringtones"
You can set an alert sound by putting it in the root of the SDcard named "Notifications"
I'll post a video soon.

There's a couple .zips within this .ZIP file. Where do those extracted sounds go? Thanks

The extra zips are extra sounds that you can use. If you decide to use them, you can parse them through Media Human Converter and rename them to what you wish to replace. The sounds that you can replace are in /system/media/audio/ui just make sure they are in an ogg format.
I'm just a fan of metal gear, I changed some of the svoice pings to the codec openings etc.
I actually quite like this, nice find dude !
I may include this font among others in the next version of the rom.
I'm curious where exactly did you find that lowercase font ? Did it by any chance come with a bold version also ?

So I got excited and made it for you anyway. Here you go! It includes the other missing styles AND the WP fonts ripped straight out of the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK.
I put the font on my Galaxy Note II (Skynote TW) also (using the AllBacksBlack theme) and it looks amazing too. Going to fix up a theme for it to make it more streamlined with the gear. The black and white scheme also helps save a bunch of battery life thanks to AMOLED screens.

Question. With ifont installed on the gear, how does one go about installing this font pack? Do you unzip it first or place it in /ifont/custom or what?
Thanks

You would place the extracted ttf files into a folder called IFont on the root of the 'sd card' and use the app (click custom) and use it to install it. (Or you can tap the click this button in the app and navigate to where it is). Afterwards, hit the name of the font you want to install and click set.
If you still have access the the stock gear settings app, just place it in a folder called fonts and go to settings and change the font.
Look Google glass fonts! (not lowercase lol)

Custom Lockscreen Mod

For those who are like me and want a different lockscreen and not always looking at the wallpaper, this simple Mod is for you.
This mod should work on all Sense ROM`s, just ensure you load the correct version for your ROM base (2.2 or 2.2.1)
As always - NANDROID IS RECOMMENDED BEFORE YOU APPLY THIS MOD
This is what it takes:
1. Download the matching lockscreen update.zip for your ROM (2.2 or 2.2.1)
2. Create a 480x788 pixel png (no jpg) and name it lockscreen_topedge.png - if desired you can add a little transparency if you want this effect
3. Extract the HtcLockScreen.apk from the lockscreen.zip
4. Open (NOT UNPACK) HtcLockScreen.apk with winrar and drag your lockscreen_topedge.png in the res/drawable-hdpi folder and just close the apk. Make sure your compression settings in winrar are store to avoid any issues.
5. In a perfect world you zipalign your apk for less Ram consumption, but since this is only 1, you will not notice a difference anyway.
6. Now drag the HtcLockScreen.apk in the lockscreen2.2.1 or lockscreen2.2.zip (depends what you have downloaded for your type of ROM) in the system/app folder and close the zip. Again - no need to pack or unpack anything, this would only break the signage.
7. Install like a ROM with ROM Manager or directly from recovery.
8. Enjoy
Download Custom Lockscreen for 2.2.1 ROM`s

Feel free to post screenshots of your own versions here and give feedback, on which ROM`s the mod works (should on ALL Sense based DHD ROM`s).
Example of Custom Lockscreen (which is the default in this mod):
Green Eyes
Sadly i need a more step to step guide than this, really looks great and cool! But it says nothing about exactly "where" i should be getting these files from, i thought you only needed the Zip file you uploaded to get those effects, but seems i have to do it myself depending on my rom.
Thanks though!
Edit:
I just tried it out, and it seemed to work without any modification, but i noticed a bug with the very lowest border is missing, i can see thrue it, and see my normal background there, like the picture is not scaled enaugh for the screen resolution
Thanks!
If you want exactly this lady, just download the zip (if you are on a 2.2.1 ROM) and flash the zip.
If you want to customize the lockscreen yourself, all you need is to build your own png with 480 x 774 pixel in Photoshop or whatever image editor you use and replace the png in the apk, drag the edited apk in the update.zip and flash.

I will look into it, once there is time - but bigger png like 480x800 just will cause the background to shine through on both sides (that was the first size tested). I might adjust the padding in dimension.xml, but unless you don`t use a very bright wallpaper with a very dark lockscreen or vice versa this is barely noticable.
Edit: In my tests the bottom of my wall had a similar color, so that wasn`t noticable. I uploaded a fixed version and adjusted instructions for png size

I just noticed, you might be right about the adjustment of the picture as you have to include the statusbar aswell, but it might actually be the missing area at the bottom to be the Statusbar size, and its just aligned wrongly?
Thanks for the fast fix!
Edit:
Nwm, just checked again, and it's not the same size missing as the statusbar, probably half of that

Thank you!
how to return to stock... do u flash that file with a fully transparent background or els ..
not that my lock screen doesn't look extra good now but you know just in case. thanx
Just grab a HTCLockscreen.apk from a 2.2.1 ROM, draw it in the update.zip folder and flash.
great job, thanks for sharing
is it possible to use live wallpaper?
No - not without major adjustments.
nice bat the clock?
.. nice! I wanted to ask one more thing, where did you get clock? Metamorph installation?
Installing green eyen on leedroid 1.41 rom, only change on wallpaper. Lockscreen not changed T.T

If you`re talking about the lockscreen, that is part of my Revolution theme.
i have a splash with the green eyes lady, somewhere i saw a bootanimation.zip with her but i cant find it anywhere and its driving me mad. Anyone have it?
I made the splash screen to as addon for my Revolution theme, but never saw a bootanimation with her...
is this mod not working for android revolution with no-sense script and readded sense lockscreen?
Yes, it works without problems.
it worked after i converted it with amend2edify script converter to use it with cwm 3.0.0.6
but it only changed the lockscreen wallpaper and not the slider
and my semi transparent notification bar shows the background of my live wallpaper instead the lockscreen wallpaper
any way to fix this?
is the default zip to undo the custom lockscreen changes?
Heya,
Pretty basic tutorial on how to get rid of the god awful honeycomb clock font.
1) find a font you like, make sure it's a TTF (True Type Font).
2) make three copies of said font, and name them:
AndroidClock.ttf
AndroidClock_Solid.ttf
AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf
3) Get them on your xoom (email them to yourself, connect via USB and stick them in a folder, whatever floats your boat).
4) fire up Root Explorer (or your file browser of choice) and navigate to /system/fonts
5) rename the existing files listed above, just in case you ever want them back.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You can see the ones in hot pink are the actual files that get read, and the blue ones are those I've renamed by adding an "x" to the end of the name.
6) drop your own files in that folder. Be aware that Android is case sensitive, so "AndroidClock.TTF", as well as "androidclock.ttf" would both fail.
7) profit
Again, this is hardly a "tutorial" and more like "hey just replace some basic files".
Get to the lock screen and you can see right away the fruits of your labor:
In order to see the lower right hand clock change, you'll need to reboot:
I'm not wild about the font I used in my demo here. It looks alright in the corner, but the lock screen looks bad. Then again, I don't really use the lock screen (No Lock app FTW), so meh.
Hit the thanks button if you love me.

oops, forgot to explain why there are three versions of the font... I mean, it's pretty basic... but if you look at the original clock font, certain parts "show through" the font and are more opaque then others... the "_Solid" is only parts of the numbers, and the "_Highlight" serves a similar function. Basically, as you can see in my screens above, my entire font is opaque, since I'm using the same file in all three places.
If you want to get fancy and edit a TTF you could end up with really nice drop shadows or whatever. I'm just showing you how to do it. The creative part is in your hands
Is it really that bad? lol. I don't think it is bad but to each his own. Thanks for giving more options.

Regardless of how you feel about the stock font, this is a great tutorial for customizing your Xoom and making it your own.
Thanks for a great post!
Awesome!
One question I have. Since the original Honeycomb clock uses three fonts, is it possible to nix two of them and just have one font load?

I'll go out on a limb and say "probably yes".
I say this because during my font shuffling last night, I would up with two different fonts overlapping each other. I had one Bauhaus style font named AndroidClock.ttf, and one that was a handwriting style named AndroidClock_Solid.ttf... since they were totally different, I was able to see one through the other, and it was generally a jumbled mess.
I reckon you could get rid of _Solid and _Highlight if you just want a single semi-transparent font file being loaded.
I'll also throw out that you'll need to experiment with which fonts work... some look great on the lock screen, but then have the bottom 10 pixels or so cut off while it's in the corner... other times it looks great in the corner, but has a few pixels cut off on the lock screen. Something about the native size of the font probably comes into play.
I'm still poking around with options... currently running a "busted old typewriter" font that looks kinda cool.
Will probably poke around with making custom _Solid and _Highlight pieces, and maybe trimming the font down to just the numbers to lighten the load. I work in IT at an art school, so we certainly have a zillion apps to dink around with fonts on the machines here.

So if I want to design this, what you're saying is, _Solid is where I need to have my completely opaque file, _Highlight is where i put what i want my shadow file to look like?
Whats the other file do?
just grab the TTFs off the Xoom, and get them on your windows desktop. Double clicking a TTF in windows will open up a preview of what the font file is "made" of (what the font looks like, different sizes it will scale to, etc).
It's pretty apparent looking at the file. I'll grab some screen caps in a sec...
edit** here ya go, you can see which each font "does"... I'm going to mess around in FontLab Studio tonight and see what I can come up with.
Where do you get the fonts from? Can I just move them over from my windows fonts folder and they will work?
Have you figured out/found how to change clock colors yet?

As long as you name them accurately and make sure they are TTF then yes.
I've just tried it with the Calibri font from Windows fonts folder and it's a vast improvement already!
One pointer (on something that threw me for a few seconds) is when you're in Root Explorer make sure you set it to Read/Write access otherwise you'll just get an error message about protected read only system files.
hmm...
I wonder what's causing the edges of some fonts to get cut... I tried changing the glyph size. I thought it might be the larger characters some fonts have but the glyph size didn't seem to make a difference.

Just curious if you ever came up with something you want to share? I use the lock screen version as my alarm clock, but it is hard to read sometimes - 5's and 3's in particular.
Just some good old candy with lots of Transparency. Thought I would share my theme I use. This is made for the Virtuous 2.35.0 from the UOT Kitchen and graphic changes.
Thanks to M10 tools, Liamstears, kalagas, Capy and Virtuos team. May have to mount data and system in recovery before flashing. HTC weather lockscreen background modded, Htc People, mail, freindstream, weather widgets transparent. Status bar transparent. Plenty of color icon changes and alittle bit more.

Hi trock62, great work!!!
I've got a question about the "Personalize" button on the home screen. The one next to Phone. It has the Personalize icon but on button press it loads the internet app. Is this by design?
Also I've been looking for a better locking ring but can't seem to find one that works with VU 2.35, there are plenty that work with Android 2.3.4 but not in VU. Is there something about VU that causes a problem?
Thanks for a great theme!!!

1. Image needs to be resized to EXACTLY 540x960. You can do this in any image editor.
2. Flip the image upside down.
3. The images MUST be PNG format.
Once you have this done, you want to grab the IdleScreen_Weather.apk out of the rom youre usings zip folder. Its located in system/apps. Once you get the apk, you want to open up m10 and click load file. Navigate and select the IdleScreen_Weather.apk.
Once this loads, you want to click the tab that says m10 Files. At the bottom of the screen, youll see where it says Decode Images, make sure you check that box.
You want to double click the Lockscreen_weather_bg.m10. It will ask if you want to decompile it. Click yes. At this point, youll be brought to the next tab which is Editor.
From here you want to expand until you see Textures. Under there you will see three spots labeled Texture. Click that and it will bring up an image to the right. Right click on this image and click "Show in Explorer". You will see three png files in here. You want to replace each one with the images you created earlier. This is important though. Make sure you copy the name of each file youre replacing EXACTLY. Im not responsible for any errors you make on renaming.
Once you get all three of the images replaced, go back to start and then save .apk Make sure to use the same name.

This article might for those who owns Samsung Galaxy GEAR and wish to have your OWN designed watch face based on the Watchstyler Manager app. But still those watch faces haven't been called 'COOL!' yet.
I would like to guide you how to go for your REAL OWN designed watch face(s).
<< Method #1 >> This method is based on the Watchstyler manager app. + your graphic and design skills (ex. photoshop)
{

}
Using Watchstyler manager app (on your mobile device), you can create the watch face(s) [no matter how many watch faces you have created, but still you will see those folders on your device. [This is a MUST.]
(On you mobile device) Go to the following folder : phone memory > Android > data > com.omnutel.appcessory.gear.watchstyler.manager (or /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.omnutel.appcessory.gear.watchstyler.manager), you will see the 'theme' folder where there are the watch face(s) have been created. (just exactly the names of the theme you have created.)
(in each watch face profile, you will see all of image files) Just get those image files out from there in order to make any changes like colors, styles, patterns ... etc. After the moderation, just move those changed image files into the same folder such as :
- BG_PART.png
- PRV_IMG.png
- other image files (battery indicator, dates, time, bluetooth, hour, minute and second)
* remark : It needs to COPY those folders out from the device for modification on computer, then put it back to the same source (where they were taken out from).
<< Method #2 >> (not achieved yet, but still you can get all the image files for modification right on your computer)
Get the .APK file for watch styler app [samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.2.130917.apk], then change the extenstion of the file from .apk to .zip
Exstract the .zip, you will see many folders inside, but look at the following destination : \assets\SampleThemeImages Here, you can get all the preloaded image files based on the WatchStyler app, then you can make some modification for later use.
* remark : I got stuck while packing the file back to .APK (I've tried, but unsuccessful. = That's what I said earlier "not achieved yet"), but in case that if on the rooted mobile device you might easily COPY / MOVE the image files (with modifications) back to the right folder on phone memory, I assume it will be more easier to do so via WatchStyler app laster on.
Hope it helps you make more watch face (on your OWN design). :good:
Thanks.
Its easy way.
You are so nice.

it appears watch styler has been pulled from the app market.... I can no longer find it was a nice app that needed a bit of work but overall I like how customizable it is!
Ive posted the link somewhere on this forum. It is on my dropbox..

Why would they do such a thing?!? Maybe it's getting updated?
They should be uploading more apps and clock faces if they really want this watch to succeed.
I've forgotten, was it in the Android Play store, or the Samsung Gear store?
Glad I have a copy & backed up in Titanium & backed up the apk on my dropbox.
Making custom screens on the watch makes me very, very happy.

Thanks, I still have it installed, unfortunately im getting frustrated as sometimes it just looses the current skin and shows the initial "apply theme" screen and requires to apply the theme again... happens 1 or 2 times per day.. not great
Worked great. Only thing that sucks to me is that when I disconnect the Bluetooth the theme is lost. Have to reconnect and reapply.

When I try to install this to my phone I cant download Parsing issues
This is just what I was looking for!!!
I was just about to return my gear.
Thank you!
MINE
from time to time the watchstyler faces hang. Especially when i've broken usb connection temporarily, or walked too far away from my phone. Is there any way to place our completed watchstyler designs directly on the gear like the other faces that are there? This way, they should just show up on the list of faces, and perhaps they will not hang. I have gone ahead and rooted my gear, and used adb shell to check out the directory structure, but I cannot see where the default watch faces are sitting?
Just a thought......
this is the best news I've had all day!!!

fonts
Hi I have tryed the method #1 and replace a font in the text folder but when I apply the theme the default font is used, How can this be done?
thnx in advice
nice tut!
It's possible to modify also the digital clock? particularly the font (.ttf) of the clock and date, I've tried to change some parameters in theme.json (opened like simply txt) but Watch Styler has restored the default configurations, maybe by the second mode it's possible?

Credits @cambunch for his work.
I'm not claiming I did this theme completely on my own, I created this Theme for my personal use, but I also want to share it with you guys.
Also thank you @cambunch for the help you gave me in PMs.
Tutorial/Download:
1. Go to the Theme Store, then under the section "Different landscapes of city" scroll all the way to the right, then click on the "Urban" Theme, download and also apply it.
2. Flash the .zip down below (you can also manually move all the apks inside to their destination in /data/app and correct the permissions, but that's a lot more work)
You can also use FlashFire (instead of a custom recovery) for the flash process. (Knox won't be triggered, stays at 0x0)
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952613165
3. If you want to, you can also flash the Stock Touchwiz Icons afterwards:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952614039
4. Done, enjoy :good:
Bugs:
Music App: Dropdown Unselected Category Text is black (non visible unless selected)
Video App: Title Names are black (non visible)
Wallpaper Chooser: Dropdown Unselected Category text is black (non visible unless selected)
Future additions/changes (no guarantees):
add Voice Recorder, S-Planner, DocumentViewer, Memo, Task Manager Theme
SystemUI black Notification background color
Change color of Headphone connected "damage" range
some micro detail changes + bug fixes
Any visual bug you encounter ON A SUPPORTED DEVICE (G920F or G925F), make a screenshot and post it here or via PM. Otherwise, no support at all from me and you will be ignored.
Great work my friend ! Donwload and installed as op said Really nice to have setting and quicksetting in black ! Awesome !
Will this work fine with the newly updated Urban 2.0 as the base? Or does it require Urban 1.0 ?

Never mind used flashify. Great theme love it my phone looks great
Great applying now
Awesome! Works super well.
One Bug to add:
Changing the wallpaper using the wallpaper selector (Settings -> Personal -> Wallpaper), the top left drop down to choose Home Screen, Lock Screen or Both is there but the words are black on black.
A minor nit to a cool theme.
Nice one^^
Looks very nice. Thanks
Damn nice theme. Thanks heaps
Small issue I can across:

Cheers

I just saw that you don't use a compatible device (G920F/G925F), so no support from me. Reboot menu works perfectly on my device, you can also see it in the picture in OP.

Not sure if the Theme System has the capabilities for that. I will write it on my list though.
1. I have a Sprint GS6 (920P) is it supported?
2. What if we are already running the material design theme (which also uses the Urban theme to hack it). How would we go about installing then?
Thanks for this man!
Will this work on the Canadian 920W8 device? Also... I am not rooted nor do I have a custom recovery and I am not familiar with flashing (been away for a long time) so can I flash this theme at all?
Please advise.
Thanks,

1. I don't know. Try. The ZIP only overwrites some files in data/app and data/overlay, shouldn't brake any system functionality -> no bootloop possible
If the material design theme from @cambunch works for you, this does too.
2. You can flash over it. The memo app will stay material though.
