Earlier, I have been compiling several ROMs for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi) based on KitKat 4.4. After my experience with Omni was not that bad, I decided to move over to Nameless ROM, where I have become a core member of the team: http://nameless-rom.org/.
Changelog of 23-Mar-2014
-Many upstream updates from nameless & CM
-Updates to CustomLauncher (I have had no more FC's)
It features the Mackay kernel (it is a kernel named ICS_2014, because I worked on this kernel for stock ICS and CM9 as well). The zram code has been optimized (based on google advice for low-RAM devices) and is enabled by default. I also improved the OC code and changed voltages.
First installation:
-Boot into recovery
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Reboot system (there sometimes are bootloops if gapps is flashed directly on top of the ROM without first booting the ROM)
-Reboot recovery
-Install gapps (you should use a package specifically for KK4.4 and with the old-fashioned updater-script! - don't worry if you install an outdated gapps packages with the correct updater-script, as long as it is for KK4.4 the apps in the gapps package will be automatically updated -> only small gapps packages fit, e.g. banks core of pa 0-day gapps mini)
-Reboot system
-> some people report issues (e.g. bootloop or crashing gapps) if they flash ROM & gapps in a row after fully wiping the tablet. In that case, wipe again, flash ROM, boot the tab, reboot to recovery, and then gapps.
-> if coming from stock ROM, a factory reset may wipe you entire /data partition, so you loose you sdcard contents as well (I think this only happens with CWM, but I'm not sure)
-> in CWM "wipe system partition" can be found under mounts, and is called "format /system"
->If you get the message 'This package is for "p4" devices this is a "GT-P7500"' (or something likewise) update to a recent CWM or TWRP
Update installation (Nameless -> Nameless):
-Boot into recovery
-Install ROM
-Reboot system
You can download any gapps packages for kitkat that you like, but one that many have used successfullyis PA 0 day gapps:

What does NOT work?
-There are graphical glitches. Although they mainly have been solved there seem to be some remaining issues with hwcomposer that may crash the tab.
-HD movies (in e.g. youtube) may stutter
Smoothness advice:
Go to performance settings:
-Overclock CPU (Do this at your own risk!)
-Keep governor on Interactive
Go to developer settings:
-Activate "Force GPU rendering"
-Active "Disble HW-overlays"
-Set background process limit to 4 processes
(if performance/developer options are not yet shown, go to settings>about and press build number 7 times)
-> Thanks to all forum members contributing to this list
-> Do it at your own risk!
-> Don't complain about limited battery life (ROW+interactive+1000MHz leads to better battery life for sure)
Some other tips:
-For improvement of sound quality, you can use Viper4Android
-For more volume only, SpeakerBoost is earier to use
-For netflix, head over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49208063&postcount=445
-To be able to use Flash player, use a browser that doesn't use the kitkat browser engine (e.g. firefox can be used). Download flash player from adobe website (thanks to AAccount for finding out!).
- If you can't see your internal SD on PC: Go to Settings -> Storage -> 3 dot menu -> tick MTP.
Great stuff...downloading now. Thanks a million and bless you.:beer::thumbup:

Great job kasper_h! I'll flash your rom asap!
EDIT: @kasper_h how can I offer you an italian coffe? Can you add a "donate link" in the OP?
Auzz adda v'daje!
When I press more under personalization it force closes...uninstalled messaging since it gives an error at bootup. So far everything is smooth.
Edit: Animation control force closes as well.

Yes, it is quite a bit smaller than Omni

Do a titanium backup and restore the apps with data after full wipe and installation of this rom...
I fully wiped coming to nameless. Good moment to clean out my mess anyway
P4 link points to P4wifi ROM, just for the records...
kasper_h is my idol.
Thanks!
That is just awesome First thing I tried on the p4 of my girlfriend was bluetooth audio via speaker - and guess - yes, it works!
Haven`t tried anything more yet... Will do now! Now my girlfriend will be more happy, and everyone knows what this means

I have been compiling InfamousAOKP as well as Paranoid Android for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi & P7500/p4). Although I like the HALO feature of PA, I also found several features lacking in PA. Then I came across Carbon ROM:
http://goo.im/devs/carbon
They make a ROM based on AOSP, merging key features of CM, AOKP & PA. This, combined with Linaro used for ROM building, results in an impressive ROM -> high speed & versatility. I decided to port this ROM to our device as well.
Details 6-Aug release
Upstream source code of 5-August (including further improvements to HALO)
-> If coming from anything before the 11-July build, you have to reflash gapps!
Details 18-July release
Upstream source code of 18 July (including further improvements to HALO)
-> If coming from anything before the 11-July build, you have to reflash gapps!
Details 14-July release
Upstream source code of 14 July (including many improvements to HALO)
Build for both p4 & p4wifi
Latest Infamous 2.3 kernel
-> If coming from anything but the 11-July build, you have to reflash gapps!
Details 11-July release
Upstream source code of 11 July
-includes the important security patch of CM10.1.1
Infamous kernel 2.1:
-many updates to wifi & modem
This build will require a reflash of your gapps packages, normal backup/restore of gapps will work again from the next build!
Details 18-June beta release
Infamous 1.9 kernel:
-Fix fox l2_hsic problem
Improved wifi driver (from pershoot)
ROM:
-Update codebase 18-Jun
-HALO comes with a master switch so it can be disabled (default = disabled, so you have to activate it the first time booting)
-Small improvements to p4-common device tree (should make things smoother)
Details 12-June
-Source code 13/06/2013 (with Halo; you need to use PhabletUI to activate Halo, you can then switch to tabletUI)
-ROM build with Linaro 4.7 toolchain/O3, but kernel with 4.6 (to prevent reboot issues).
-Infamous kernel 1.7
Not extensively tested yet, so that is also why I added the alpha in the topic title!
I have only built this ROM for p4wifi/p4.
If you want to build it for another device, you can find the source code on my github:

Added some CM10.1 packages:
-cLock / LockClock
-DSPManager
First installation:
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Install gapps (use the ones from the link below and not regular gapps)
-Boot it up

PA gapps:
http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps
Just one note: the PA gapps are extremely fully packed. I have no interest in 50+% of the apps included, so I removed them before flashing from the zip file (on a Windows PC you can use e.g. 7zip to do that).

You have to go GoogleNow settings (once it starts, immediately hit the settings button (3 vertical dots) in the lower right corner and uncheck "Block offensive words" and other privacy-related checkboxes you might have there. Of course, you have to hit the settings button very quickly since you GNow shuts down fast upon open. The key here is that in order to stop GNow from foreclosing, you have to get to GNow settings.
Alternatively, use cLock settings (look for them in Android Settings) to add a settings button to the taskbar, and then start GNow and hit that newly-added Settings button, which acts as a normal application-related settings button once you open any app. Then proceed to changing the GNow settings that I mentioned above.
I like the ROM. Really.
It feels like mey Galaxy Nexus on PA linaro.
Only the Phablet interface was a little... slow, but normal Tablet interface works fine for me.
Keep it up

Tried with no gapps and had no luck. Maybe just a bad download, although I did d/l twice.
edit - downloaded the rom one more time and installed the PA 4.3 gapps and all is well. Third time was the charm.

- temporary linked /cache to /data/cache (due to kernel problems not mounting cache partition)
- reset build.prop props so that phone behaves as a 'low memory' device
Known issues:
- Performance/VM-Settings are reset to default values after reboot.
Standard Installation:
- Download ROM and GAPPS
- Boot into recovery
- Do a backup
- if not already done, do a backup..
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Mounts and Storage -> format /system
- Flash ROM
- Flash GAPPS
- Reboot
ART runtime Installation:
- Download ROM and GAPPS
- Boot into recovery
- Do a backup
- if not already done, do a backup..
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Mounts and Storage -> format /system
- Flash ROM
- Reboot and 'Setup'
- Enable developer settings in the usual way by quickly tapping on 'Build Number' several times in 'About Phone'.
- Enable ART in developer settings and let it reboot.
- Wait... It will take some time. After round about 5 minutes Omni logo should dissappear and you should see 'Optimizing ...'
- After ROM has booted, reboot to recovery
- Flash GAPPS
- Reboot
For root, flash SuperSu, which can be found here at XDA.

For GAPPS package for 4.4.2 builds search XDA or use this minimal GAPPS (from Mokee ROM): http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407566631
For 4.4.3 builds use a package from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
For 4.4.4 builds use Gapps from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942 I personally used 'MICRO MODULAR PACKAGE' 4.4.3.
And now for some rules:
- I won't implement special wishes. So don't ask for it. I will simply ignore such requests.
- I'll try to update every 2 weeks, except there are significant changes or fixes from Omni team. But read again: 'i'll TRY..'.
- And please don't flood my PM box. If you have problems installing/running, search XDA first...
A big and warm 'Thank you' and Credits go to 'DerTeufel1980' for creating his kernel and allowing me to use it.
Enjoy, lagloose
Additional installation instructions
Naturally a clean install is always the best thing to do, but a 'dirty' flash shoud be ok, as long as you didn't install scripts or anything else which reside on /system partition. However, flashing a new release overwrites Gapps. So what you can try is:
!!! In every case make sure you are on 'dalvik' runtime before trying a dirty flash !!!
Without wiping anything:
- flash new release
- flash Gapps
- flash 'SuperSu'
- reboot
ROM should boot now and show you the usual 'updating' and 'optimizing' app's (blah.. blah...) dialog. Afterwards try if everything is like 'before'. Of course i'll can't guarantee
ZRAM
To enable zram i've integrated an 'init.d' script which looks for special properties in build.prop and enables or disables zram depending on the values of this properties. These properties are 'sys.zram.size' (in Mb) and 'sys.zram.swappiness'. If 'sys.zram.size' ist set to '0', zram will be disabled. For those who want to enable it, i'd recommend to reserve 64Mb of memory for zram. So set 'sys.zram.size=64' in build.prop. I'd recommend ro leave swappiness at 20 because this seems to be a good 'balanced' value, but if you want to try around with swappiness, feel free.
People who are not familiar with 'adb' and setting properties can download 'build.prop editor' here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor from playstore. BUT DON'T CHANGE ANY OTHER VALUE THAN MENTIONED ABOVE, UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING !!! To check if and 'how' zram works you can use this one from playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=id.co.ptskp.android.zs (Note: there seems to be a bug in that app which fc's and gives you back a large negative number. Just wait some time and start the app again. It should work than.)
High Mem settings
Due to too much problems with using 'ro.config.force_highgfx=true' in conjunction with low_mem device setting i decided to remove this property. Instead i've added and used three other properties to get our Nexus S running in 'high mem' mode without loosing too much performance. To change to high mem mode i recommend to set/change the follwing properties in system/build.prop:
ro.config.low_ram=false
ro.config.max_recent_tasks=10
ro.config.max_starting_bg=2
This can be done by using 'adb' or 'build.prop editor' from Playstore. See notes on 'build.prop editor' in ZRAM section of this post. Additionally you should consider downloading and flashing 'Devil Kernel' from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2314244&d=1381362960
For people who know about OOM settings, I suggest to set OOM values to 2048,3584,14080,17920,21760,25600. I won't do bigger explanations here on what all this does. Those of you, who are able to read source code are free to inspect Android source to find out...
Anyway, I'd be glad if someone does a post in this thread what OOM settings are and how they can be set.
Battery life
to increase battery life, you don't have to turn off Location services completely. However, i strongly recommend to turn off Location reporting and Location history in 'Google location settings'. Also turn off 'Scanning always available' in Advanced Wi-Fi settings.

Okay, I need to know what I am doing wrong.. I have downloaded this rom 4 times with both my computer and phone.. I have tried CWM 6.0.4.3, Philz 6.01.0 (cwm6.0.4.5), TWRP 2.6.3... I did full wipes each time, no error messages on flashing with CWM's, failed message on TWRP.. and when I try to boot, I am knocked to boot loader every time.. I just reflashed EuroSkank CM11 with no issues.. So, what didn't I do?..
( for anyone new, I have flashed a few thousand times and know how to do it..)

Flash the latest touch recovery in fastboot prior to flashing. It should flash after that.

Could I get a mirror please from someone who got it to boot??

So how did you install it? dirty/clean? what recovery?.. and can you make a mirror for your zip file?.. I can't download a ?good? copy...
Earlier, I have been compiling several ROMs for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi) based on KitKat 4.4. I now decided to move over to OMNI ROM as base: http://omnirom.org/
The nice thing of OMNI in my personal opinion is smoothness: it is relatively low in features, but at the same time it is not that resource hungry as some other ROMs. The end result is a smooth ROM.
Changelog of 15-Feb-2014
-Omni codebase of 14-Jan
Several small fixes, nothing spectecular
It features the Infamous kernel (same kernel as for JB4.3, without SELinux). The zram code has been optimized (based on google advice for low-RAM devices) and is enabled by default.
To see the additions on top of Omni, check github (additional patches are always shown on top):
Frameworks
Settings
OmniGears
First installation:
-Boot into recovery
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Boot tablet (there sometimes are bootloops if gapps is flashed directly on top of the ROM without first booting the ROM)
-Reboot recovery
-Install SuperSU: http://download.chainfire.eu/371/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.85.zip
-Boot it up
-> some people report issues (e.g. bootloop or crashing gapps) if they flash ROM, gapps & supersu in a row after fully wiping the tablet. In that case, wipe again, flash ROM, boot the tab, reboot to recovery, and then flash the rest.
Update installation (OMNI -> OMNI):
-Boot into recovery
-Install ROM
-Install SuperSU (in the SuperUser app you can create a script that will automatically backup/restore SuperSU on ROM updates so you don't have to reflash SuperSU).
-Boot it up
You can download any gapps packages for kitkat that you like, but one that many have used successfullyis PA 0 day gapps:

What does NOT work?
-There are graphical glitches. Although they mainly have been solved there seem to be some remaining issues with hwcomposer that may crash the tab.
-Bluetooth audio does not work (other Bluetooth functions do work).
-HDMI output (may be fixed according to some posts, didn't test myself yet)
-HD movies (in e.g. youtube) may stutter
Smoothness advice:
Go to performance settings:
-Overclock CPU to 1400MHz (Do this at your own risk!)
-Set IO scheduler to CFQ
-Keep governor on Interactive
Go to developer settings:
-Set the three animation scale options to 0.5x
-To use the multi-window feature, go to the recent apps screen, press&hold an app, and select put aside.
Great......downloading now

You need to separately flash SuperSU. SuperSU can create a script for backing it up, so that on future ROM flashes you don't have to repeat this.

Bad to see that it is really not for the GT-P7500 . So i will not update.... i really need my 3G
Why it is so difficult to get 3G working Did 4.4 change so much?

The problem is that in 4.4 the radio stuff has been redone. I also had problem with another device I develop for (SGS) to get the radio to work. And to develop a ROM for a device I don't own make it even more complicated. In the past weeks I sometimes flashed 10-15 testbuilds on a single day to try and fix something simple (like USB OTG). If someone else would test something for me, the progress would be way too slow.
But all my code is open source: someone with a p7500 can just grab all the code, adapt it to p7500 and compile it. And start the whole process of fixing bugs

just installed it and everything seems to be fine. Installed with twrp 2.3.6.0 wiped everything but sdcards. installed rom first did first boot, rebooted flashed pa-gapps 3-16 build you posted. works good so far and no issues that im aware of but havent tried everything yet. thanks for the nifty dark themed rom. keep up the awesome work jfbs and ill do a deep test later and report back tomorrow.
Grateful!
Again @jfbs thanks again for the hard work you bring to this device. You bring a joy to people's faces. :good:
The real credit belongs to davidteri91 and Madridii for putting this together. I just compiled it for this device. Enjoy.
wow! i'm impressed with this rom. was a bit fishy at first, but when it got settled in its almost magical..! great job!!
The hard work you must have put into this ROM really shows. It is almost magical, as corny as that might sound.
I'm having the same external SD storage problem as I had using latest Ancora CM11 build. For example, I cannot make a Titanium Backup for any application. Det0xx informed me this is related to AOSP upstream. (I suppose one can work around this problem by using internal storage.)
I wonder, does everybody else have this same problem using external storage? I wonder if I need to do something additional, like reformat my card, flash a different kernel, or change from using TWRP 2.7 to something else.
Another comment regarding TWRP: I was going to do a clean install of this DarkCM ROM, but when I did the wipe in TWRP 2.7, I got a "failed" message for /data.
Any comment is appreciated. And all the ROM creation work is much appreciated, too.

@danny8 I use 2.7 to install this rom without any issues wiping cache/dalvik/system/data. I switched twrp back to using the model number, so if it happens again, will you post a log? Not sure about tibu, haven't used it for some time, but my cm11 builds from 1/31 to 3/22 were compiled with linaro. This rom and 3/26 were compiled with gcc to get ART working again which may be the culprit preventing your tibu.
edit: also, I'm able to read and modify external sd with es file explorer and haven't formatted external since Dec.
@wrusry I tried netflix today with this rom and see that playback it unstable. Switched to 3/26 and watched a movie for ~30 min. without any defects. I'll try looking into this for next build.
I hope you continue to develop this ROM as time permits.
I'm currently using your CM11 0402 build, and it is excellent. But the DarkCM app appearances are awesome.

This is the first kit kat rom I'm going to try when I start putting roms on my exhibit this weekend. I'm psyched to see how it looks.

I installed the latest build of DarkCM (20140411) and Netflix now appears to be running well after setting the Maximum CPU frequency to 1305 Mhz. :good:
Thank you jfbs for providing this ROM. It has been my daily driver for a couple of weeks now. :highfive:
Damn this rom is great.
This was my mom's old phone, and since she had no use for it, I took it figuring I could find some neat stuff to do with it. I had no idea it could work so well! Thanks a lot for this.
I'm looking to turn this phone into a sort of big smartwatch/wriststrap/accessory thing. Do you guys have any ideas on where to go/start to do that? What type of apps should I download? I have google music and runkeeper and I've already used it to track my jog so I could leave my Note 2 home. Just looking for ideas. Thanks!
