Serious problem with screen flickering on 4.3.. - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.. i have serious problem with my sp.. my screen is flickering (minilag) every 1 second when i try any 4.3 rom... i have tried the following
-Update official 4.3 before unlock bootloader and root device (stock kernel-rom)..
-Tried some custom 4.3 roms after i have unlocked bootloader and rooted my device..
-Tried cyanogenmod.. the annoying thing is that with cyanogenmod i get that flickering with all versions of 10.1 - 10.2 - 11
-In every rom i tried everything.. (close auto brightness, set brightness to max or min, Bravia engine on/off, change wallpapers and hit home button 8 times as someone said in another thread.. tried tweaks with trickster MOD,system tuner Pro,Android tweaker Pro,installed project fluid and more..
The problem dissapear when i install any 4.1.2 rom.. everything works perfect not even a spike.. i use Clean&tweaked rom v4 .. but i really want to be able to upgrade and try 4.3 , 4.4
Thanx if you read this and sorry for my bad english

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp

Am i the only one having this weird problem? it really makes me mad :S

read my 1st post its all there... btw its like minilag every 1 sec... 0.3 sec lag every 1 sec... everywhere.. in videos images games ui

Reset or reflash phone. These are the only two solutions that can help. If the problem still occurs you should consider to let a service center repair it.

:crying: I tried everything :S... 4.1.2 works PERFECT.. 22404 antutu benchmark.. 0 lags 0 spikes.. very fast load times xD so its not H/W problem

Keep it on 4.1.2 for a while and see if the problem still happens. If not keep and wait I've read here and there that there is an quick maintaince fw fix from Sony on its way

It occasionally flickers on my 5303, downgraded to 4.1.2 254...
Edit: hmmm- seems to have disappeared when I turned off auto-brightness

yes i had the same problem too. i guess its rom or kernel problem ..
first of all tell me if you are using devil kernel???
well going ahead..since trying wont hurt...do these steps and see if your problem is solved after each step...
1)first of all, trying changing to kernel to another one
2))if you have any task killer, check gallery and music players and power amp are not in the auto kill list...and check if its solved..
3)uncheck deep idle option...and check agn...
4)increase buffer size in power amp setting to huge....and check it again...after googling abt it alott...i only found out these things...
right now on cm7,,,,and trust me my life is peace now... ...ICS is having so many small small bugs which are annoying...
Uhmm... i just upgrade to Rc1.1 that based on slimsrom. and i dont have any issues with PAMP. but try to wipe data factory + cache + dalvik + format system. and then Fix premission..

im on RC 1.1 slim ... tried the same however its not happening... after the screen goes off pamp stops ... or i should say the kernel closes it/.... then when any button is pressed then pamp resumes but again stops after the screen goes off
Tried on RC 2 but still the same ... Tried even keeping the processs in pamp setting .... still no use !!!! Can someone tell DJ sound.... i love the ROM and even PAMP tooo ... Want to keep both
I have found a workaround !!!! Touch wake should be activated with delay 0ms.... Little battery wastage is there but can be neglected

You didn't tell what did you use. You didn't tell on what system are you now. You didnt tell if you are on JB is it Y, Z or Q4 version. I moded Y version for ripple unlock, so it might be bad for Q4 version. About that on one place, perfectly working... One dev made thing and make thread for it, only someone can make index and put it all on one place.
Reflash stock firmware with Odin, then you will know there is no non-working stuff on your phone. But you are the first one with this problem, as I know.

That ripple lockscreen mod is made on XXLPY file, I didn't try it on XXLQ4. Maybe that is the problem.

[Q] Xperia V - SOD, software or hardware?

Hi,
do we know if the SOD problems are software or hardware related? ( Was gonna link to the SOD thread at Sony, but cant because of few posts. But google "Xperia V random freeze in standby" and your there..)
I am about to send my phone in for service, but since this will propably take a couple of weeks im hoping a software fix would be released.

should be software problem.
if u were to flash a custom rom, the number of SOD is very little, or dont have.

Anyone that can confirm that SOD problems disappeared on custom rom?
And if so, which rom?
I set the minimal CPU speed to 486 MHz and it helps.

So you had SOD, set min cpu and it helped?
Which firmware version?
How frequent was the SOD?
How long without?
I use the latest JB rom. I got 1~2 SoD per day before minimal CPU setting change. Now it stands well for more than two days without SoD. The Wifi is on. Maybe my good luck but worth trying.

with Wifi off and stock ROM, I'm now on 9 days without SoD.
Though my old Ion on the older ROM has never rebooted even once...

Wifi of is not an option. Like a sportscar without an engine, but nice to get solid indications that WiFi actual is the problem. Seems like it would be fixable by software then, if only Sony care to take action.
Hmmm... a SoD again. :crying:

From my experience using Xperia V Stock ROM Singapore FTF Jelly Bean for 3 weeks, I must say that it is the best ROM I ever used for my Xperia V. Better than my stock ROM Malaysia ICS version. Give it a try and feel it.
----------------------------------
Using Xperia V - Bootloader Locked - Non-rooted - Stock ROM Singapore FTF JB - about a month using Xperia V from Malaysia

This thread is about the SOD( "Sleep of Death") problems that some users have experienced on their Xperia V.
With the purpose of figuring out if this is a hardware( need to get phone replaced) or software( can be fixed by update).
So if you never had any issues with the SOD on your phone, on either ICS or JB, the information about which rom you think is the best do not help with the question asked in this thread. Please read before posting...

I just give my opinion. If this method helped other users fixing their SOD, who knows. I suggested to my friend that have SOD problem (Stock ICS Malaysia) to flash his Xperia V with Stock ROM Singapore, and he has no problem with SOD until now (a week of usage).
Just give it a try.

Have you tried a factory reset? When I had this issue on my Xperia TL, (before I rooted it and installed XperimenT) I uninstalled a ton of apps and disabled the ATT apps. It was doing the SOD every night. I would go through any recent apps you've installed and delete/disable them. If that doesn't work do a factory reset and _slowly_ reinstall apps. I think this is a case where something is interfering with Sony's stock firmware.
for those still having SOD, maybe u can try this. not sure it helps or not. because before i install jellybean, i review the code in build.prop first. so that is why it didnt happen on me for 2 weeks. well, i test it out yesterday.
use either ES file explorer or Root explorer, go to system -> build.prop.
find this line dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m, put a # in front of it to disable this code.
it could be because there is another similar code, thus conflict. u can find another similar line at the bottom of build.prop.
hope it helps!

[Q] HELP: Xperia SP random power off (?.,? )

After stock update to 4.3 faced a lot off bugs on Xperia SP. Mostly kick out form running app.
But in last 3 days it started to randomly power off with just black screen. I thought something went wrong with stock ROM so installed custom ROM, phone works better, but random power off still exist as problem.
What could be a cause and solution to this problem?
btw I'm noob to these problems and solution.

Tried that, still got problem, now I installed stock old version 4.1.2. It seems good for now 1 hour and phone is still on. I hope this nightmare is over.
But if problem still existed, that means problem is on hardware. Right?

So easy way to fix that problem is to buy new ****ty smartphone.
Maybe your battery is broken. That's why I asked for the amount of time you can use your phone with screen on.
Do the random power offs occur when the phone is charging?

Haven't tried this on charging.
But in last day I noticed that when phone starts to heat it's shutting down, but not always.
random or sudden power off is solved with new battery
