Help find the rom for me - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to find the ROM that is perfect for my needs...
Here is a list of desirable features the ROM would have:
*Fast
*Latest firmware update
*Stable (no glitches)
*Battery improved
*Sound improved
*New and updated apps installed
*Customized (different icons, screen, and other cool features)
I use my phone mostly for music, online apps like Facebook, twitter etc. Internet speed (3G) is crucial for any ROM I install
Thanks

If u could look all the roms features they wrote the same.
-Best battery
-Bug free
-Fastest rom bla bla...
Because of that u have to flash one rom and try it yourself. Every rom acts different so u have to find which one is the most suitable for your phone

Best rom / comparison rom threads are not allowed. Best thing to do is to try out different roms for yourself and see how you get on.

[Q] Best ROM

Hi guys...I'm Italian and my english is not perfect...excuse me! I have a Samsung Galaxy S and I want to mod it...I think that my phone is not fully exploited... I need a ROM that exploits it. My parameters of choice are stability, sensitivity and speed... What is the ROM that you suggest me? Thanks guys!
All new roms based on jpy are really fast and awesome. Just read the features of all the roms and choose one.
My favorite ; darky"s rom
The best rom is always someone else's rom. ..

You're right.
@OP
If you want a modular ROM where you can add pieces of components together, go for Doc's ROM.
If you want a great JPY ROM, go for Jim_Panse's ROM.
You can switch between ROMs as you like
Happy flashing & merry X-Mas!
I started of with the Darky ones, runs fast and smooth. Except for crappy GPS but thats not his fault, just samsung that ****ed somthing up.
Havent tried DOC's one though.

I think in terms of speed, all JPY ROMs are the same.
It's just about the customizing the ROM chef did
Not another best rom thread
We appreciate your willingness to start playing around with your android phone. However, to fully have the android experience, you will have to do what most of us do and that is flashing roms. Lots of them. Then you will know yourself which one you prefer.
BTW, this questions should be in the General section, not Development.
First you need to mention a few things more , like the firmware versions you are curently running.
Anyhow , Your first choice should be the official kies update that you may have in Italy at the moment. Maybe if you has in an eclair rom and you update to froyo is enough for your needs. Latest roms as said before are very good in terms of stability, sensitivity and speed.
If you need something beyond that , i would suggest Darkys rom ( no offence to the other guys ) which is easy to upgrade to and had a lot of goody's pre-installed
After that you should be able to fully understand the differences of every rom and make your choice.
Almost all guys here support their roms ( updates ) , they have detailed instructions , FAQ e.t.c. and you can also be helpful too , as a 4rth layer tester*
*
1rst layer = creator
2nd layer = mod creators that the rom include
3rd layer = Testers following the rom that know most of the common issues
4rht layer(us) = Testers that have fully read and understand the instructions and despite following them to the letter , they experience some kind of bug , so they report it
P.S. no actual layers exist , i just made them up to explain
IMO, i'd say last Darky's rom and Doc's.

[ROM][21/03]InsertCoin v0.2 A2SD

Hi, i'm new here on wildfire dev, but i'm pretty active on desire "scene"
my work so far can be seen here.

My wife has a Buzz and asked to make her a ROM, so i gave it go. Here is the 1st version:
- based on RUU_Buzz_Froyrange_ES_2.34.75.1_Radio_13.55.55. 24H_3.35.20.10
- Rooted
- Deodexed
- A2SD (you will need an ext partition after the FAT one)
- latest busybox (1.18.3)
- All apks are optimized and zipaligned
- Default kernel for now - but [KERNEL][OC/UV][BFQ][AUFS][FTW][GPL] HCDR.Kernel v4.1 should work, I'll try to convince snq- (the one who made the desire kernel to make one for wildfire)
- Amend script syntax to work with all recoveries (minus 3xxxx one)
- hosts moved to /data/local for adfree
- bootanimation moved to /data/local
- all google apps updated to their latest version
- what i forgot
Changelog:
21 march - Removed beta tagged, after 10 days on missus phone, the rom didn't crashed once - rom is still the one from 11 march. I will not update the rom just to create the feeling that i'm working hard on it, i dont have what to update, no new kernel or base or hacks mods since 11 march. maybe only some new versions of market apps but those can be updated from market.
0.2
- Updated market to latest version
- Added 4n1 reboot menu
- Updated busybox to 1.19
- All market apps (gmail, maps, facebook, etc.) are install as user apps so you can remove update edit change.
- flash WITHOUT wipe. - is a 2.3 mB update flash over v0.1
0.1
- initial release
I cook my roms, trying to keep them as stock as possbile, with stability and speed in mind.
This is the 1st version which is a beta. I'm more familiar with porting stuff so i'll give it a go to wildfire s rom when i can and i'm more comfortable with wildfire

Nice to see other Senior Devs make a ROM for the Wildfire, normally is the other way round.
Good Luck on the ROM. It looks very promising for an initial release.
Welcome
Nice to hear about new rom. I'm very intrested about your work because at the moment is impossible to find a good rom.
hmm....very nice...can you put some printscreens ?
And can you give linpack test info ?
I need to try you rom, but this 2 infos I would like to know. If it's not a problem.
Tnx

probably my rom doesn't have as many features as older roms here, but i did this rom because after sometime, all other roms became laggish on the buzz. So for now better speed was my goal, and seems i accomplished it. try it and let me know

the looks is stock, but is deodexed so you can customize it with UOT.
i cant give you linkpack score, im at work and the phone is not mine so i dont have it with me. but as getting to know each other i dont care about benchmakers scores as long as roms feels smooth. and it does
from what i saw ppl here are obsessed with linkpack on desire they are with quadrant.
We can't use Quadrant in it's free version because we don't have a GPU, as simple as that

yes i know, i was merely trying to make a point, that ppl are obsessed by benchmarks, it is not a pc to run 3dmark on it and buzz surely is pretty limited as performance, so as long as a rom runs smooth and apks along with it i really don't understand why some scores are important to you, adding the fact that one is a score and most of the time is not reflected by reality.
Power of example for quadrant since i had to deal with obsession on desire thread.
free of quadrant version 1600 points on a2sd rom
paid of quadrant version 1800 points on a2sd rom
on data2sd 2500 points (due to fake i/o by emultation sdcard as nand)
on data2ext 3050 points (again same reason)
all this on the same rom (mine) same kernel only with the scripts changed.. funny thing .. all 3 version act the same in terms of speed in real life
The only value that would be usefull is the average FPS in common usage (Maybe one day google will include it?)
It`s nice to see devs coming to this platform!
Bine ai venit!
Hi Mate,
First of all .. Welcome to Wildfire section and thanks for creating ROM for us!
Hope you stay here longer
thanks for the warm welcoming hope someone will flash the rom and give some feedback. don't worry won't break ur phone, just do a nandroid backup before flashing in case you dont like it

Very professional Thread View...Welcome to the Wildfire Section, more and more devs are filling the wildfire section lately and that's a good thing!!!
Enjoy your stay, just downloaded beta version, already nandroided my CM7 RC2, and going to flash right now!
Will report feedback soon - Thanks for ur effort and time to share ur work with us!
Hooray for a ROM that includes that nice little boot jingle. I don't understand why all the other ROMs remove it. Still booting. Must await full verdict.
downloading it right now. I'll post feedback soon. Thanks a lot!
Tested it .. Worked fine .. No freezing .... Stable so far. IMO Need few work like a Reboot option .. Seems like the Market is not the updated version. The boot screen like stock one .. I like that one
Well done Mate .. Expecting lot of updates

[Q] Looking for a recommended rom

hi
a question for the experts:
im looking for a recommended rom, as fast as possible, including lagfix if needed. Especially when having lots fo apps.
It just that i got this annoying lags on my current Rom, and sometimes i got an annoying delay when hitting an app buttons, up to 3-4 sec.
There are so many roms so i'm a bit lost, and will appreciate if you could help me get the best rom that i'm looking for.
And one more thing if possible: I prefer a detailed HowTo installation guide as possible...
Thanks
if you want to stay close to the base rom... try a deodexed base rom with a kernel supporting lagfix like darkcore..
or try this link (a list of custom roms)
alchemistar.blogspot.com/2010/10/samsung-galaxy-s-custom-roms-list-1014.html
Personally i tried (and adopted) GingerReal :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025348
Already fast with just this rom. and after activating the voodoo lagfix with cwm it's really fast.
I have a very goo user experience with this rom. (looking forward to V7 (JVQ) that should go out tonight)
Go out to dev and explore, matter of taste/how you use your phone/your preferences......and each rom will have detailed install instructions....if not then pick the dev up on it. You will get as many answers as there are roms with this kind of question, and if your answer is......i haven't got time.....then stay with stock as you won't have time to sort any subsequent problems!
Insanity cm017/glitch v10c
MIUI Galnet V3...give it a try, you won't be disappointed...
i have 2 options for you
1- i tried many roms and i realized that Darky rom is awesome in performance and the team is really cooperating , wait for Darky v.10.2 i expect it come out soon , it will be perfect rom
2- different and fast rom Galnet " make you own iphone look on android galaxy " bring all what you wish , but stil have few defects but they make weekly developing , and v3 will come out tonight
Or CM7 - fastest ROM beside MIUI.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
From my point of view, MIUI is really great in comparison to the original SGS mod. I'm using it and updating it every two weeks because of the updates it's providing us.
Well im usin F1 galaxy s2 rom it makes you feel like u are usin galaxy s2 and its fast without lagfix enabled.
My + its for Juwe's Smart Edition > v5.0 XXJVP .... Semaphore Kernel its in Rom and you can flash new v. with cwm ....
Rom its very stable , fast and very nice .... in my case - all works fine
recommended

[Q] custom roms for note / which do you prefer ?

well i hope its ok to ask. i could install each and test and bla bla someday i may know. but i got some other things to do sometimes so ....
i come from desire just bought a note which seems quite nice yet. rooted and now the old problem which rom to use....
at the moment i use checkrom revo notehd 4 which isnt bad maybe im just used to cm...
i used cm7 for my desire which worked best for me (think i tried quite alot not all but alot) was quick, stable....
As there is just a cm9 beta which didnt work for my desire in the past i would just like to have a few feedbacks on which roms you use or like best and maybe a few words about why u use it (what makes it different from other rom)
hope it is ok to ask maybe its it is interesting for more notenewbies ?
thx
I'd say 4lph4 n3v3r d135 because:
- uses best kernel (currently: AbyssNote3.2 that can overclock/underclock from 100Mhz to 1.7Ghz)
- has less fancy icons than RocketRom and others
- updates frequently to deliver the latest firmware
- arranges to deliver the most useful tweaks we need
- see its page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424401
Stock, cm9 (when they release a final version) or wait for the ICS
I've tried a couple and nothing looked decent AND offer snappy speed.
The firmware has to match the serious look of the gNote. And the quick ROMs have a gipsy UI (no offence, just my subjective opinion)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
RocketRom for me but with the stock theme don't think there is a better theme than the stock one atm at least for my taste

I9305 Custom Rom.

Hey, first i want to say Happy new year to all of you guys.
Ok, so let's start i have 1 question about galaxy S3.
1. I have the 4G S3 I9305 with the stock rom and i think about to change to a custom rom because of battery drain, maybe i got a good battery balance on an custom rom but i want to know if exist a custom rom with 5.0 wich it look like note 4 or s5 ( i like the design of samsung 5.0 ) and i like the features like smart stay, the sensor who can call a contact from messaging / contact list just putting the phone at the ear ( i think you understand what i mean ). Or if it doesn't exist 5.0 a 4.4.4. based on note4 but i don't know wich is the best at stability, i don't like to get errors, crash, freeze, or random restarts. Thanks if you can help me I would appreciate your help.

If you like stabiliy and all features you listed, I recommand a Samsung Android 4.4.4 based ROM. Like those 2 ones :

Hi!
I have an i9305 since a few weeks ago (inherited). Currently I'm using CM but it has a couple of issues and this variant of the S3 seems to be less supported, so I'm considering switching to either stock ROM or another custom.
Could you please let me know what major highlights your ROM has vs. stock or other customs?
Basically I'm looking for a ROM that doesn't chew the battery and is stable, with everything working (SD card, gps, 4G).
Thank you

About AMCHA KK, it's a ROM which can be customized a lot through AROMA installer (contrary to stock firmware that can't be customized). Please check AROMA screenshots HERE. You'll have an idea of what you can do.
* Kernel choice between stock kernel and AGNi kernel
* Modem choice
* Apps and widget selection
* TTS selection (GoogleTTS, SamsungTTS, S-Voice, Talback)
* Different Add-ons
* Different keyboards selection
* UI choice between (please read HERE) :
- stock KK
- S5 KK
- N4 KK
- S5 LP
- N4 LP
* A lot of CSC choices
* And more to discover with screenshots HERE
* You can also install the extra-mods with more features. Also through AROMA installer.

Floodw, thanks a lot for your help.
Just by chance, do you know if there's any method to backup my app data (pw's, settings, etc...) so I can basically make a quick port?
Some apps have a very smart feature that you export your settings into a small text file (for instance, K-9 mail), but most others dont. That saves a lot of time when switching ROMs.
Thank you so much!
