Dear Developers,
In call mode speaker is on by default
I have this issue and quit sure it happens after the Latest 10.4.1.B.0.101 update, until this update my phone works really fine and smooth and now it is a serious issue because every time I get a call speaker is enabled and even if I disabled the speakers but it again automatically enabled during the call this happens regularly and it is really upset me, my girlfriends Xperia z phone has the same issue and it happens after the update, I need quick response from any of you to solve the issue, and I did clear that cash and data of the phone app as mentioned by Sony support form but issue is same, and I can't repair the phone via update services because it will delete my text messages/MMS from the phone, and as far I know It's like factory reset, need help on this
Also is there any other way to uninstall the least update without root or flash or repair via pc suit the device, or is there any other calling apps available for change the default value of this, I tried several calling apps available in the play store but all of them fail, really upset about this issue and looking for serious answer from Sony you
Also i posted a support request on Sony support form but i really surprises because no replies from Sony, or no fixes are available via updates, help me XDA experts because you all are the last available option to resolve this issue.
Here the Sony form link about this error:

So I purchased the Sony Ericsson Aspen. Unfortunately, I got the M1a and not the M1i. SE released a software update (R1BA013, R4A) for the M1i that fixed most of the known bugs. However, its sibling, the M1a, remains stuck at R1AB038, R7A (I think R7A is Americanese for R3A; both have odd numbers! ) and suffers from several annoying bugs including but not limited to:
- Bluetooth issues: disconnections, static noise, stuck at connected to headset mode even if headset was turned off.
- Phone Calls: Unable to receive calls. The phone will be working just fine for days. Then suddenly, you receive one call, the phone and keypad will light up, but the home screen will not change to show the Caller ID/Actions screen. You will have to first reject the call, then go to the call register to see who called you and call them back. You can still make calls, but you can never receive any on any of the installed panels once the problem appears. Only a Soft Reset can fix it until it happens again day(s) later.
My question is this:
I have Omnius installed on my PC. Is there any way to get the Generic Worldwide English firmware (R1BA013) and the UK customization (R4) files either through SEUS or the Internet to flash my M1a? Is it even possible? Do I need to change the phone's CDA for it work? Is there a way to trick SEUS into updating my M1a as if it's an M1i? It looks like SE will give up on the M1a and will not release any future updates for it! It's has been three months since they released the update for the M1i now...
One more thing: checking SEUS with my phone connected says that I have the most recent software; HOWEVER, it doesn't even offer me an option to reflash it again! I can only exit the application! Why is SE treating all the (a) versions of its phones differently compared to the (i) ones?
Have u succeeded?
have u succeeded? i desperately wanted to change the region also! thanks

So my microphone seems to not be activated for periods of time, and I can't figure out what causes it, or really even how to fix it.
For example, today at work I was able to make calls for several hours, but after getting off I made a couple more calls that failed because the other party couldn't hear me.
Sometimes I can start Google Now voice search with a 'google', but after I make one voice entry, I can't make another one, and the next time I manually press the voice key it won't pick up any sounds at all. Even Shazam has problems with the mic sometimes, showing no equalizer bars whatsoever.
I thought this was a hardware issue because I thought it started one day (about the 3rd day I'd had it) after I dunked the phone in the sink, but in the diagnostics app the mic seems to do fine.
Is anyone else having this issue? It's really starting to get on my nerves. I guess a factory reset is in order?
I'm also having trouble finding any consolidated info on this issue; threads seem to trail off without any clear solutions.
hey,
im having some problems withthe mic as well, the other party cannot here me here and there and Ive read some forums that it might be software. also there was a solution on installing different home program and not use xperias Launcher. so hope this will help till KIT KAT is here

I'm having the same issue. Didn't see an answer here so I looked on the Sony product support website, and there a few suggestions were made:
- use a factory SIM, not a scissor-cut SIM card
- update the firmware to the latest version
- turn off "Microphone noise suppression."
link to the sonymobile website where I got this info - http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1/Microphone-issue-Xperia-Z1/m-p/450153/highlight/true#M6457
Time will tell if this worked for me. Let me know if you found a solution, or if this worked for you?

Good chance here to solve the problem. You can perform a factory reset after update as well or even now, this process sometime fix small issues.
is there any way to change from primary mic to make secondary mic use in calls? Like some build.prop tweak?

In build.prob there is no way to do that. To switch them I think you have to hack the kernel. Hacking kernel can be done on Custom one and for all this you have to have Unlocked Bootloader. Who can hack a kernel, just a Master.
Thanks for answer. I am on CM11 right now and custom kernel so it can be made if someone know what to change in kernel
My phone is the following
Phone: Xperia z3 compact
Model: D5833
Build number: 23.0.A.2.93
OK, so until recently I was fine. Now whenever I make or receive a call over my mobile provider, I am unable to hear the other person. It just sort of makes wooshing sounds occasionally. The other person can hear me fine.
This issue does not occur when I use VoIP services such as Viber and Facebook Messenger.
My question is, has anyone else run into this issue with their Xperia phone?
Since it only does it in mobile calls (not VoIP), can I assume it's a software issue?
I'm tempted to do a factory reset, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue first.
Thanks
I've got the exact same issue, too. At first I thought it was in relation to having terrible reception in a big tin shed, but even closer to a tower without interference, I still am unable to hear anybody.

I submitted a ticket and posted in the Sony mobile forums.
I got an e-mail today from support basically telling me to use the companion software and backup the phone, then restore the phone via the same software (the equivalent of a factory reset).
The software is downloading the factory image right now, so I'll let you know if this fixes the problem once I've done the restore.
It seems I can still hear people if they call from a landline though.
ok so i recently purchased a Verizon Droid Turbo (XT1254) with Build Number: SU4TL-49 and System Version: 23.21.49.quark_verizon.verizon.en.US.vzw, Its not unlocked or rooted and has android 5.1 stock rom.
now the problem is that from time to time the phone acts up and when i receive or make a call, neither I nor the person being called / calling can hear each other. sometimes it requires that i hard reboot to get it to work and sometimes even that doesnt work so i have had to do a factory reset a couple of times. and i have the following questions:
1) is this a hardware issue or software?
2) will rooting and moving to a different rom fix this issue?
3) i have also noticed that when i plug in any headphone, there is no headphone sign coming on the screen and i can hear sound from both the headphone and phone speakers. can that be linked? also is this problem specifically hardware based or some fault in software can cause the same issue?
i tried searching for this problem but couldnt find a topic about it or one which dealt with this problem.
UPDATE EDIT: after some time the problem came back and this time i have found a much more viable solution to the problem. the problem itself is in the dialer app of the mobile, which is why rebooting usually solves the issue. but the problem with this solution is that you will need to update to the latest firmware available on the XT1254 through Verizon. I've personally have had to pay for the root and then manual update since the update could not be downloaded in my country. this is what fixed this irritating issue for me so i thought i would share it.
UPDATE EDIT 2: so after reading all about the issue, if found that it is indeed the dialer app, no idea why but it messes up even after i tried multiple roms. final solution which has got it working for me again is the installation of a dialer app by the name of Exdialer found on the playstore. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer&hl=en, after thorough diagnosis i came to the conclusion that the stock dialers use the noise cancellation feature (which seems buggy, mic fault or software, im not sure), alternate apps like Exdialer / Truecaller do not and it works fine while utilizing a single mic. just to make sure that you are facing the same issue, do a voice call on whatsapp and see if the other person can hear your voice, if they do, then give this solution a try.
1. Sounds like a hardware issue to me.
2. Probably not if it is hardware related.
3. That could be caused by bad headphones, but in this case it might be linked.
If you purchased this new, I'd recommend trying to get it replaced under warranty. Motorola factory warranty is 1 year from the date of new purchase, and it's very easy to get them to send you a replacement. When I had my warranty replacement sent to me, it even looked like the device was new and not refurbished, which is what a Verizon warranty claim will get you.
i checked it today and found the hardware issue to be true.
when the problem occurs, plugging a headphone in and then removing it fixes the issue.
unfortunately i bought it used and there is no warranty, however i can try to get it replaced with a similar handset.
thank you for your reply.
Mine did this as the battery was dying/dead. Replacing the battery fixed it immediately.
i faced the issue even on a full battery. i was led to believe that it was the headphone jack because plugging in the headphone during such an instance would allow me to hear the callers voice and the removing the headphone would revert it back to normal.
i have cleaned out the jack since then and i have yet to face the problem again. not really sure what was causing it to earth.
