So I purchased the Sony Ericsson Aspen. Unfortunately, I got the M1a and not the M1i. SE released a software update (R1BA013, R4A) for the M1i that fixed most of the known bugs. However, its sibling, the M1a, remains stuck at R1AB038, R7A (I think R7A is Americanese for R3A; both have odd numbers! ) and suffers from several annoying bugs including but not limited to:
- Bluetooth issues: disconnections, static noise, stuck at connected to headset mode even if headset was turned off.
- Phone Calls: Unable to receive calls. The phone will be working just fine for days. Then suddenly, you receive one call, the phone and keypad will light up, but the home screen will not change to show the Caller ID/Actions screen. You will have to first reject the call, then go to the call register to see who called you and call them back. You can still make calls, but you can never receive any on any of the installed panels once the problem appears. Only a Soft Reset can fix it until it happens again day(s) later.
My question is this:
I have Omnius installed on my PC. Is there any way to get the Generic Worldwide English firmware (R1BA013) and the UK customization (R4) files either through SEUS or the Internet to flash my M1a? Is it even possible? Do I need to change the phone's CDA for it work? Is there a way to trick SEUS into updating my M1a as if it's an M1i? It looks like SE will give up on the M1a and will not release any future updates for it! It's has been three months since they released the update for the M1i now...
One more thing: checking SEUS with my phone connected says that I have the most recent software; HOWEVER, it doesn't even offer me an option to reflash it again! I can only exit the application! Why is SE treating all the (a) versions of its phones differently compared to the (i) ones?
Have u succeeded?
have u succeeded? i desperately wanted to change the region also! thanks

Hi,
I have a V1615 from one of our users which has a bit of an unusual problem in the while trying to connect to GPRS/3G the following message appears after a minute or so of trying:
The answering modem has disconnected. to check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings
The voice function is also odd as while trying to call somebody, you wait awhile and then get three beeps and it hangs up. The signal strength mostly show no signal, but even when it does, the chance of getting through seems poor.
The problem is, this was happening when the device had WM6 as the O/S, I upgraded to WM6.1 from the voda website, and the same issue has occurred from the fresh install. The SIM works fine in another device, and the device still fails to work with a known working SIM in it.
Vodafone have taken all the services and re-applied them to the users number in case there is a server problem, this hasn't changed anything.
I would be inclined to think it's a faulty device - except that this is the second device the customer has had with exactly the same fault. The last one was changed a month ago and it seems to be happening on a monthly cycle as he's only been issued the device for two months.
Anybody any ideas? I know the user well and know he's careful with kit (& I don't think he has any significant magetic field that could cause this problem!! ).
Just seems odd that two devices with the same user has the same fault, despite fresh installs of the OS!
Cheers in anticipation.
Mike
Hi guys.
I just bought my XDA Diamond and updated it to the new official o2 Firmware version 1.93 something.
Unfortunately my XDA doesn't run as smoothly as it did before. From time to time multiple errors occur at the same time. First of all it's hard to make a call - the phone can't establish a connection. If I'm lucky and the phone establishes a connection I can't hear my dialog partner and they can't hear me. Furthermore the ring tones don't work (I can't hear them, the phone only vibrates) and if I get a text message I can't hear the text alarm but the phone keeps vibrating until I change the profile to silent.
The only way to solve these problems was to switch off the phone and switch it back on. The errors occur at random times, I can't predict them. I can send text messages while these errors occur but calling is impossible
I was in an o2 shop and asked the personnel there what the heck's wrong but they only told me "switch it off and back on".
I assume there's something wrong with the software since all the errors occur at the same time. Otherwise there could be a hardware defect. Because of that I'm afraid to load a cooked rom - warranty and jazz.
Has anyone experienced something similar and/or is there someone who can help? It's really annoying to never know if I can call someone/someone can call me.
Kind regards,
Martin
got exactly the same problem .. when i got the diamond i started "optimizing" it with tools like advanced config. after playing around with cache settings it occured for the first time so i thought it might be a memory leak. then i made a hardware reset and applied the newest official O2 rom. problem is still there randomly, so its a hardware issue most likely. strange thing that u got it when updating the rom. maybe there wasnt enough time for it to appear before ?!?
i checked google and there have been similar issues with older htc devices. some stated it might be a shortcut with the headsetfunction. unfortunately it seems to be very rare, so theres no official statement in faqs etc. will have to send it back and hope that i get a working one.
ps : do not mess around with the warranty. just send it back.
Thanks for your quick reply.
The guys at the o2 shop told me that it's a software defect (the guy I talked to said he's got the same problem) and that they can't help me.
I will definitely go back there and force them to replace it. The randomness of the error is the most annoying thing. One minute it works the next it doesn't. It's impossible to use the XDA as a phone at the moment.
I've never had any problems with my last six cells. I'm pretty disappointed with the Diamond
PS: Does anyone else have an opinion on the topic? Maybe a solution, hint, help in any way?
I highly appreciate any response.
Sincerely,
Martin
denk dran dass du als onlinekunde bei 02 anrufen und es selbst zurückschicken musst. die antwort hab ich bekommen als ich im shop stand.
Hi Martin,
did you try to re-flash the diamond again? Maybe something went wrong by flashing the 1.93 ROM. Had the same problem with a ROM from here, but I don't remember which one it was.
So, try re-flashing. The O2 1.93 went well on my diamond.
Kind regards,
Volker
Can you confirm where you obtained the official O2 rom from.

No, I didn't reflash the device. Can I flash it again with the official Rom without doing something? Kind of override the ROM with the same ROM?
I got the ROM from the o2 website o2online.de

Yes, no problem. However, first download the update file once more. If you can, try another browser / download manager, just to be sure there is no transmission problem.
If that doesn't work, try flashing the "old" firmware, if the problems don't persist, it's no hardware problem for sure. Then try another GER 1.93 ROM from the developers.
I did a re-flash of the original ROM. Haven't experienced the headphone/microphone problem again yet, but I often lose the connection after I answer incoming calls. The network symbols in the top line (3G or G and the network symbol) show a "X" and network plus an "!". After that it reconnects and I can call back.
What the heck is wrong? This is so annoying!
edit: strangely there was no ring tone when I answered the incoming call.
Hi folks.
In addition to my other problems a new one occurred. (Almost) every time I get an incoming call my phone looses the network, causing the call to end. Strangely, the phone shuts itself down from time to time while I'm answering incoming calls.
I went to o2 and they have the phone sent and repaired. As soon as I get it back I will tell you what was broken and or done to fix it.
Maybe someone here will experience a similar deterioration of their Diamond - but hopefully not!
Kind regards,
Martin
Meh, I've been a diamond user for a couple of months now and as of this week I'm getting these problems as well... Got into an argument with my girlfriend because of me not hearing when I'm being called. I don't have a mobile phone for nothing I want to be able to receive calls damnit!!!
It doesn't ring and/or vibrate often, and switches to 'silent' mode. At first I thought it was because of a soft reset I did recently, but then it also happened when I didn't reset it
Also, sometimes the 'phone application' (i.e. the dialer) doesn't come up when I'm making a call or receive one. So I can't answer the call.
I have original ROM (1.93 Dutch) that came with my phone. I did some tweaking though and I use S2U2, but they worked fine before...
I'm seriously considering going to T-Mobile and ask for an Omnia or something. Heck, I'd even pay for an iPhone...
Hello all,
I installed the official 2.03.404.2 NLD ROM on my HTC Touch Diamond.
(Radio version is 1.09.25.23). I didn't use the backup utility to restore my settings afterward, instead I installed my few applications by hand again.
I configured the phone to only use GSM, both to conserve power and costs (I have wifi both at home and in the office).
However, with this new ROM, often the phone becomes unresponsive to incoming calls. It happens often after the power management puts the phone to sleep whilst I have an active wi-fi connection using Opera.
People who try to call me then get my mailbox, even though the phone is ON and everything looks normal on the display. Crazy enough, the Diamond itself can make phone calls without problems, and then I'm immediately flooded with text messages from my provider telling me there are messages on my mailbox.
I now make dummy phone calls several times daily just to be sure the phone remains logged into the network, but this really sucks. Does anyone else experience this?
what network are you using?
T-mobile NL over GSM.
But the problem coincides with the installation of the new ROM.
I have exactly the same ROM / same Radio / same provider (T-Mobile NLD) as you have, and I don't have this problem (at least, not that I know off). I also have the phone in GSM mode almost always instead of 3G mode. So I think it's not a bug in the rom. However, there is already a newer rom available than the one we have, so maybe you could try upgrading to the latest?
I have ROM version: 1.93.720.2 WWE (Radio version: 1.00.25.07) on my HTC Diamond. I have never modified or upgraded my ROM. I face a similar kinda problem as yours. The only difference is that it happens once in a day and that too early morning. So I have to make a call to any no. to wake my phone up. This sounds funny but yeah I m facing this problem. Is it bcos of ROM version? Whats the latest ROM version for HTC Diamond? How can I update it? If I update ROM will I lose all my data. Please hlp I m new to this.
I m from India and using AIRTEL network over GSM.
@Suchit_g:
Early in the morning, you mean shortly
after pulling out the charger cable?
Sounds like a power management prob.
@Drazix: Thanks for the info about
the new ROM, I will try it out.
Hmm bobokonijn
Even I thought so but this happens even if my phone is not charging. I charge my phone once in two days but this happens almost every morning. The 1st call of the day should be made by me. If I fail to call, my callers get the unavailability message even if my phone is on and showing network signal bars. My phone starts working only and only if I use network (either call someone or use GPRS) for the 1st time in the morning and then for the rest of the day my phone works without any problems. Hope someone can help me out with this?
Dear Developers,
In call mode speaker is on by default
I have this issue and quit sure it happens after the Latest 10.4.1.B.0.101 update, until this update my phone works really fine and smooth and now it is a serious issue because every time I get a call speaker is enabled and even if I disabled the speakers but it again automatically enabled during the call this happens regularly and it is really upset me, my girlfriends Xperia z phone has the same issue and it happens after the update, I need quick response from any of you to solve the issue, and I did clear that cash and data of the phone app as mentioned by Sony support form but issue is same, and I can't repair the phone via update services because it will delete my text messages/MMS from the phone, and as far I know It's like factory reset, need help on this
Also is there any other way to uninstall the least update without root or flash or repair via pc suit the device, or is there any other calling apps available for change the default value of this, I tried several calling apps available in the play store but all of them fail, really upset about this issue and looking for serious answer from Sony you
Also i posted a support request on Sony support form but i really surprises because no replies from Sony, or no fixes are available via updates, help me XDA experts because you all are the last available option to resolve this issue.
Here the Sony form link about this error:

Hi there.
I have Note 9 without any brand. Updated to newest firmware that existed and about two updates ago there was problem - i cant make any calls. Restarts one helps, and other time don`t help at all. And now - it was no use to restart phone because of this problem. I felt that it might be this problem and i turned off this option and tried to make call - and nothing. Only when i restarted phone again - i can make phone calls normally like before. This problem exists not everytime, it looks like when i make call to my second phone it is only "connecting..." at my note9, and other phone is ringing. And there is two kind of behavior, first - in note i cant hear anything, just this "connecting..." message, and other phone after few seconds hangs up and ask about reconnect. And second - after few seconds after receiving call it finally works but it have take some time between receiving call at second phone and hearing anything. Its lottery.
Now i have this option disabled, phone is restarted and now i can make calls. I contacted Samsung via chat (samsung members app) and via Twitter and they said to me to go to their service to diagnose or sth, but i know what i will hear at service: "please reset your phone to factory settings and if then this issue will be present we will take your phone and try to repair it" but i don`t want to do this because of all this configuration and hours of clicking... I dont like to do this when i dont have to.
So my question - do you have similar or the same problem? Is WiFi calling have anything to do with sim provider?

Well need a few things to be able to help.
Carrier?
Model? I'm guessing N960I1?
What is the firmware version you're on?

And I'm assuming the carrier Support Wi-Fi calling right? It may be a provisioning issue. You should try contacting your carrier and verify Wi-Fi calling is a feature and that they support it on your device. They should also be able to help you activate it if they support it.
I wrote that it was working normally before, and now it stops. I`ve had this thing working.
