[Q] When does motorola post up new images? - Moto X Q&A

I have the Verizon Moto X DE, just wondering when Motorola usually gets around to posting the new factory images? When I bought the phone in Dec they already had the latest up so I'm not sure how "timely" they are. Thanks

The following link has the image files. Scroll down to Verizon US and you will find the latest 4.4.2.

Thanks! I've been waiting for motorola to post it up in their dev section. Curious, does that website compile their own images after an OTA or do they get them leaked somehow?

I'm wondering the same thing about the stock firmware for the gsm dev edition. Punit Soni confirmed that all Dev editions come with the camera update already instealled on his google+ page.
But now i'm wondering if anyone has this firmware somewhere. There is this page http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost_rcica/list.php that has a list of several versions of the moto x but none of them are the dev editions...that I know of.
Thanks again.

Mirror to dev factory img?

Hey guys. So I got my dev edition today and of course, while trying to root it I broke it and can't get out of fastboot.
I'm trying to download the gsm factory img, but i'm still waiting on the download link from Moto. Anyone have a mirror?

Thanks for the reply. But the Dev edition isn't on that list.
Kinda starting to freak out at the moment.

Ok. I feel like a dumbass right now. ON that whole list, I don't see any dev edition model. Am I supposed to just flash the Tmo one?

Yes, they are identical, tmobile uses the "retail" non branded version of firmware, same as the dev edition.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.
I'm trying to add the file to RSDlite and it's saying it failed to create and that the file path was too long.
Any thoughts?

I deleted the line, put the file back into the .zip and tried again. same error.
Never mind! Fixed it. I was trying to flash the whole .zip. Didn't realize I only had to click on the xml file.

Yep! There is chance you may lose band 7 LTE support though.
I know I'm a little late to this thread, but I can confirm that the T-mobile 4.4 retail version works flawlessly on Rogers Moto X with unlocked bootloader. LTE appears to be working fine with 50Mbps DL speed which is what I was getting on stock Rogers as well. Everything seems to be in order.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread to help me learn

[Q] when will Skrilax_CZ. release sbf 4.4.2 for att's moto x(xt1058)?

My AT&T'S xt1058 is bricked because I flashed a rogers' 4.4.2 firmware on it.
Now I need the sbf file to make my brick back to a phone.
Do someone have information about when will Skrilax_CZ. release sbf 4.4.2 for att's moto x(xt1058)?
Hoping Blur_Version.165.44.1.ghost_att.ATT.en.US will be released soon.
PSo you know how to unlock the AT&T's moto x bootloader?
When moto, or at&t release it. Nothing he can do but wait too.
Hopefully soon!
Sent from my N5, N7, Moto X, G Tab 3 or S2.....

I thougt the sbf file is made by Skrilax_CZ...
A motorola customer service staff told me that at&t has released 4.4.2 officially for moto x in March, after soak test.
So I think the sbf file will be available before June.

No. They post leaked firmware files. Most likely files that are available at service centers.

They will be published here but I see that at&t seems to be forgotten about. I think a lot of people jumped ship when the m8 and s5 came out. I was considering the s5 myself.

The SBF files on http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ are LEAKED, not released.... Neither Motorola, nor the carriers are making them available. i.e. The people maintaining that site "find" or otherwise obtain the SBF files and post them when they are found. Because of this, there is no time table of when the SBF files get posted. Once they have been able to grab it, they post it. Simple as that.
It could take days, weeks, months. There is know way to know. I can say they do keep checking for new SBF's very often, and post immediately after they are available.

[Q] 4.4.4 update on xt1053 on AT&T network?

[I have no idea how OTAs are staged, so I hope this isn't the worst question ever asked in these forums]
I have a Moto X GSM (xt1053) that I got through Motorola using motomaker. I'm on the AT&T network, and things are working fine.
Since AT&T Moto Xs are xt1058, will my phone get the 4.4.4 OTA correctly?
Thanks

Yes, you will receive the OTA just fine. The network that you are using won't affect it at all.

That being said, they haven't begun the rollout of 4.4.4 on the XT1053. The latest available for it is 4.4.3.

Republic Wireless is still on 4.4.2, so you're not the last....
Anyways, the only known difference between 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 is the ssl and a couple other patches. Extremely minimal difference. There most lilkely wouldn't have been a 4.4.4 if the ssl bug wasn't discovered - we all would have likely went straight to L (eventually).
From what I have read the system version in tmobile 4.4.3 is the same as the other 4.4.4 releases. So we don't need the 4.4.4 update since we are already patched.

I thought I had posted this earlier sorry if it is redundent
If you "click here for details" on this page (for the various carriers) motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_detail/a_id/94927/p/30,6720,8696
It looks like we are missing the OpenSSL patch, but have everything else. That said isn't the OpenSSL the most important portion of the patch?

[Q] Vetting stock firmware

Where do you guys get your stock firmware from? Reverting to Stock in ios was a non-issue as Apple is always happy to get you back in its walled garden. With Android it seems a little harder and I can't seem to find official (signed) Motorola stock firmware. Furthermore, updating using the Motorola OTA service won't work until I reflash stock recovery. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Thanks. Yeah I couldn't find any official files or even a md5 /sh1 signature. That would be enough to authenticate the validity of the images. Motorola's website has a few images for Droid and X models as you mentioned but none for the G.
Back in my ios days I felt comfortable installing firmware originating from a few select groups of developers who were well known in the community and there seemed to be a good system in place for peer reviewing their code. Is there such a thing in the Android Community? I mean there's TeamWin, Cyanogen and the likes for mods, but for Stock people just install random files without knowing what's on it?
