hey
ive been told when using titaium to backup all apps and system data but when it comes to restoring it all, that it should be installed as apps and data only,is that corrent?
Okay i have a external sd card which is only like 3gb, now when you flash roms etc and have to restore stuff back, what exactly is Titanium backing up? is it backing every single thing except the sd card? will all my data within apps remain when i restore? so all my photos, icons, bookmarks etc etc
iam so confused as the app does not specify things in catogories.
cheers.

It backups your application and data(passwords or data entered in application) just like you had it before flash another rom. It will not backup ur photos, songs, icons but it will backup the bookmarks.

Okayyyyy so is it best to move my music and icons and all that stuff to the external SD card cause that's not touched when you flash a Rom and stuff right??

Even it remains untouched on internal SD card, it won't erase during wiping cache, wiping data (except you specifically select to format USB storage), Flashing.

Thanks Mr ketan that's all i wanted to find out lol I could only imagine how annoying it would be to keep moving everything to ex SD card.

TB can even backup your contacts/call history, data usage and many others too, all you have to do is to backup particular app and while restoring, just restore "data only". I have tried it for same ROM version, not sure if it will work inter ROM as well

hey jeetu! lol
you now ive still not flashed rom cause each time i see insructions, someone says somethin different lol. although you guys in this thread have always helped me.
ive had a go with gobackup pro and it really does everything, like contacts and bookmarks, your pictures, music, whatever you select it will back up. now that ive learned that my internal sd and ex sd will not be touched, iam not so paronoid about leaving everything in my internal sd as ive got over 10gb of space their. i just thought once ive backed up, ill have to move everything to ex sd due to me doing wipes and flashing roms, it would all be removed LOL.
BUT i do have a question, when i go into settings and click into storage, under internal storage it says ive got over 649mb of apps installed, now under internal sd it says 423mb. NOW is the apps installed under internal just all the system apps that come with the rom? and is this what will be removed when i do the full wipe etc?

Hey!!
One is system ROM it should be around 900 MB in total and almost consumed unless you remove some apps from system, this space is used by system apps included in the ROM and will stay even if you wipe the device. (you cannot see this in settings, use TB for it)
The one you are talking about is Internal storage (aroung 2 GB) and is used for apps you download from play store or from SD card. These apps will be removed with wipe.
Okayyyy I think I get it now lol...but both the SD storages will stay? They better lol
R u still on stock rom and if so why are you not flashing roms? Always wondered

Yes, SD cards will not be wiped with flashing unless you choose to wipe/format SD cards as Dr.Ketan said. I change ROMS very frequently, tried almost all available custom roms for Note in first 5-10 days . As of now I am using modified version of stock ROM. I have replaced lots of stock apps with modified ones (thanks to the Devs), so no need of custom ROM, but planning to try CM10 soon.
Ha ha ha, i am doing this since long, just difference is never tried custom ROM still.
And that is real our custom ROM.

Indeed , I started doing this when I was using htc HD2 and there was no new ROM left for me to try, lol
So what are the best Rome to try??? Rocketrom v10 seems good and that criskelo one but will I loose all system apps? Also can I use netcore v13 with both Roms if I choose to try both of them...or do I need abyess kernal?
I don't like the look of the stock launcher icons in TW so I guess ill have to change launchers unless I can find a rom where I can change my icons and stuff

Both of these Roms are good and include almost all stock apps, you can use Notecore with them, no need to flash Abyss kernel. You can use Go launcher EX if you don't like the icons as these roms are also TW based and will have same icons .
Try CM based roms if you want to try something new.
CM roms OK I will look for v9 since 10 is not out yet. So netcore I can use with also but I must perform full wipe etc...reading all this info just makes my brain go crazy lol your truly helpful

CM10 is out but not stable yet, u can use notecore to wipe and then flash cm9 but do not flash it once you are on cm. Cm uses different kernels and will come with its own.
But better you read rom threads for flashing instructions, either with Notecore or abyss gb.

Lol I've had a gud look but I really don't see any I like so maybe I should just stick with root but I have to say this speedmod kernal with ics stock is much smoother and faster. Would the netcore kernal on my stock rom make it even faster? I've heard gud reviews about it

Hello,
When I got my Note, I must have installed every app going on it, the phone got clogged up and just kept crashing out and being generally rubbish so I thought Id do a hard reset and start over. I booted into the stock recovery menu and just did a factory reset, it worked fine and the handsets fine but Im interested to know if on a stock rom, locked bootloader with no rooting could that affect my handset and mess with the storage capacity?
With me looking at rooting and roms Ive seen a lot of posts where people have rooted and done wipes on their phone and its corrupted the storage, loosing part of it, so I was just interested if the same risks apply to a stock handset?

See your post, I believe you are in GB rom / or on a safe ICS kernel.
Otherwise, I can only say you are damn lucky.
Rooting is not a problem in note. But wiping is a problem if u r on stock ICS kernel.
A lot of thread regarding this one alrd. If you're handphone is fine now, and you don't need root / etc... Just use it as per normal.
But if you want to do more with your handphone, read carefully on all thread that you wish to try to experiment on your handset.
I don't quite understand with what you want. Perhaps you could give your about screenshot, to know more on what stock rom you are now, and which kernel you are now. Then you list out what you need to do.

Im just interested in finding out if me resetting my handset could have corrupted the phones storage. Not including my SD card, my note says Ive got 1.97gb of internal storage and then 11gb of USB storage which considering its a 16gb phone means theres about 3gb less. Even my external card (which is 16gb) registers 14.3gb. so I was just interested to find out if this is correct or if it sounds like the reboot has caused an issue?
I've only had the handset a couple of weeks and obviously its all still under warranty so I've got the option to send it back, which is easier the newer the handset.

Those figures are correct, the rest of the memory is allocated to system. If you'd damaged the emmc you'd know about it cos the phone wouldn't boot. There's an app you can install to check for emmc damage in the play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check
You need to be rooted to do a full scan.

It's always so scary posting on forums like this but I did multiple searches and couldn't seem to find my answer so here I am.
I have just flashed from ALBA Syndicate v4 to RocketRom v1 JB and all is well aside from some of the known bugs.
But I have a query.
When browsing my internal SD card I see all sorts of folders and data left over from all of my previous installs and apps. No I am not sure if this actually affects the way my phone works but I don't like how messy and confusing it is. So I went into settings and tried to format USB storage as they call it. It said complete but all folders were still there and it seems as though nothing had changed. PS I don't mind losing pictures or anything at all, I want a clean start.
I also tried to 'format /sdcard' in CWM but it said there was an error mounting it and couldn't compete. I guess that's because it is referring to an external card...
If someone would help me I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to know how to format my internal storage and when or how it is safe to do so.
Many thanks in advance!

PPS I couldn't post in the official thread for RocketRom v1 because I am still a forum noob but I wanted to say a massive thank you because it's awesome. And thank you for my 50gb dropbox upgrade!
Easiest way to format properly is to mount it on your PC, then manually select all the files and delete. The built in wipe never seems to do a proper wipe.

i have the same problem, and i also tried to delete all data trough pc. and also tried through rom changing but all data and apps showing as it is.
pls help us guys
what rom and kernel are you on? what do you mean by deleted data and all showing ? apps will be deleted when you do a factory reset from recovery. but you have to be on a safe kernel. if you installed a non wipe rom,. it will still carry on your apps. you need to install a wipe rom

Same problem here... i cant format data.. have tried hard reset, flashed the rom 3 times, factory reset, cache / Dalvik , system / data / preload... almost everything i could read in forums everywhere.. now will be deleting everything manually.. is its because of the rom im using? or is it a hardware related issue?

Thanks in advance if anyone has a solution.
Hey guys, I'm new to the one coming from an s4, and after learning all the necessary things I flashed a 4.3 custom Rom over the stock 4.1.2 that I had. Now I've got a massive amount (19.89 gb) of storage from 'other'... I tried deleting certain files that I thought were the culprit(data/media) but after trying to with box Rom toolbox pro and root explorer I have been unsuccessful in removing the folders, they just stick there no matter what I do, even after deleting them all twice over and rebooting several times. Now I've noticed that if I move a file into the 0 folder then suddenly the pictures show up in the gallery after a reboot. However there are still files I don't need and want to get rid of. Anyone for helping?

I've already read through that one, it doesn't help as it seems I cannot delete the folders, outside of data/media/0 as these all persist after a reboot, even after deleting them. File manager says finished deleting and then I reboot, still there, still taking up 7 gb extra space.

Hate to be that guy, but back everything up (helium for apps and app data, move all media to a computer) and factory reset. It's a pain, I know, but it almost certainly will fix the problem.

Ive tried a factory reset, clockwork mod wipe, deleting root folders and nothing works!! :crying: Ill try the twrp format though. because right now i have 11gb in my "other" folder!

I've been dancing around using the TWRP "format data" option as well, so you are advising against that huh? Why, was it a little more than just factory reset type deal? I need to find a solution to this issue and I know that resetting is the answer, just need to find the best way to go about it. Thanks for the update, and I would love to hear what exactly you went through selecting the TWRP format option!

I formatted EVERYTHING in twrp haha the only way I got my phone back was to downgrade twrp to 2.5.0.0 and use abd sideload ( sideloaded my viper rom) with the htc toolkit program on my pc. And now my "other" folder says 2 gb which I believe is correct. :good: But now I have another problem I went into recovery and installed a zip file that modified the amount of steps i had in my volume, (I have already installed it before and it worked great) now my phone is in a bootloop and Ive already tried flashing a new boot image but it doesn't work....what do i do?
UPDATE: I guess i warned against it because I thought i ruined my phone. Also, I just sideloaded viper rom again to fix my problem
OK I don't usually post questions on here...I like to be the answer guy, but recently I ran into an issue that I cannot figure out.
I rooted using towelroot and installed "Safestrap-HLTE-3.72-kk.apk". Everything seems to be fine. I made backups and a rom slot but had issues with the X-Note rom booting.
I booted back into recovery and deleted the rom-slot1 then back to android os. Root explorer now only shows 25gb for capacity but under settings it shows 32gb total still.
I have tried looking for a format option for internal storage, which I swore was in twrp somewhere from what I remember from the T-Mobile note3 I recently had.
I also looked through the root and /system/ directories and found some "ss", ".ss", and "safestrap" references, but no system.img, data.img, etc files found or noticed anyways.
The only thing I can think of is to flash the stock rom and pit using Odin and reroot and reinstall Safestrap again and restore my backup to get my full 32gb of storage back.
Any suggestions would be awesome

25 gb is the actual memory you can use, the phone uses the 7 gb to make your phone run.
