I am getting this error since yesterday
whenever I open messaging app on phone and select any text message, the app force closes. I cant delete any message also.
I cant send text message. I tried flashing different apks.
You use App2SD.. did you put the messaging app's data to your sdcard? Maybe there are some problems with the sdcard. Try another messaging app. If this one works, then there is a Problem with messaging app itself or the fact that something is wrong. If you also can't use the dialer or you can't call people it is maybe also related to the SIM card. Just check these things

As I said earlier I tried many different conversations.apk files I searched on forums etc. but nothing really worked. some didnt even get detected. I tried clearing dalvik, data cache etc. I havent put messaging app on SD card. Actually there is no app on sd card. all are in the internal memory.
Also, I can use dialer and all other apps. Only problem is with Messaging app. AppMgr pro app is just to clear cache

I know that application and with that one it is not possible to move data or system apps itself to the External SD

Try to clear data from the messaging application. Sometimes it works to also clear the phone apk itself.

Oh okay. Can you remember what you did before you saw it force closing the first time, what could have to do with it? Otherwise restore the system part of a nandroid backup (advanced restore and then system) if you have one.
AppMgr Pro III is App2SD
I took a Screenshot but unfortunately I can't send it, sorry.

already done that multiple times. app opens but I cant do anything further like send new text or delete old texts. As soon as I try to to anything, it force closes.
are there any libs or framework files missing for that app?

hi guys, my problem is that, my application stays every after install of new rom..
ive tested almost all roms for stock kernel, so i can say i already know the basics(e.g factory wipe, reset etc...)
i tested it with different roms...and still there...
i used flashtool, rooted again...and when i installed a new rom, the apps are still there...
and my phone's internal memory is always 208mb...even if it's a new rom, still 208mb...
i already tried a hundred times of full wiping/factory reset...
i also tried the factory reset in settings...
this annoys me coz some of the settings also stay...
any idea guys?
What do you mean by "stay"? You've installed an application, then after every fresh install of any ROM it's still installed? What app?
From your explanation it's impossible to have user-installed application to stay still, because data partition is wiped if you install stock ROM from flashtool.
I think it's cuz you moved that app to sd card

yes it's still there...i also find it impossible...that is why im shocked...and its not just an icon...its a real app because i can use it...
i dont put my apps on sd card...when i go to manage applications, the app is installed on the phone memory...
and one thing, it always displays 208mb on my phone memory whatever ROM i install...gdx,gingerxperia, foryopro....isn't it weird?
That's messed up

whipe your SD card :/
yes it's messed up up...:/
It would be very useful, if you give us the name of that application
If you've moved the applications to SD card then ye have to move them back to The internal memory then do a factory reset .. or a full wipe ..
Good luck

Well try to use Titanium Backup to force uninstall that app.
ok guys here it is...i think i found the culprit...but still i don't know why it's happening...
the culprit is link2sd...
i managed to format my sd card including the sd-ext, and then i installed a fresh ROM....the problem is gone...i intalled some apps like root browser, link2sd, battery widget monitor etc...now after setting up link2sd, a lot of things force closes, almost everything that i open e.g settings, camera, gallery, ALL!....reboot is the solution....
now when i turn it on, it seems like(seems like), some of the data in the internal memory is AUTOMATICALLY LINKED to sd-ext...that's AUTOMATICALLY without doing the transfer on the link2sd...that is why i get 208mb of free memory because when i install a new rom, it automatically links it to sd-ext...
now if i install a new rom, the things that were linked to the sd-ext stays...that is why it shows up....
now could this be a link2sd problem?anyone having this problem?
is it because my SD-CARD is problematic?
hew...thanks guys
If we install/uninstall any apps, will the uninstall really clean/delete all the files from the system memory? For PC software sometimes it leaves something in the registry key or system directory.
Will Android has the same issue?

althou android doesnt have a registry.. i have seen that some apps leave their custom folders and files in the usb storage... which i have to find and delete manually.. mainly games and other apps that download data after installation
I'm also interested to know about this too...with Windows I'm pretty careful with what to install as I don't like too many un/installs...curious to know how Android handles many un/installs...

Based on my experience there are many leftovers even after un-install. One suggestion is to use the 'Clear Data' button before uninstalling an app. However, even after this there will be leftovers esp in the sdcard\Android folder.
Left over under Android folder still manageable, my worry is it left something in the restricted folder where we have no access unless we root. Is matter of time run out of internal memory until factory rest.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
it depend on what kinda that you use. some apps will left empty folders when you uninstall it.
same here
I actually have the same worry with my phone since I keep on trying different apps.. I just "clean data" and "clean cache" for the app before I uninstall it and I dont have problems with that..
The tool that I use is SDmaid. It helps me in identifying leftover folders and app debries. You can automatically delete them using the app.
Worked fine for me.

I tried SD Maid, it did help to free out at least 200+Mb of internal memory. Cool..

Most of the time, the biggest "trash" SD maid cleans up is the Gallery thumbnails..
Soooo when you startup your gallery app again, it regenerates the thumbnails so youre back to square one.. LOL
I am referring to internal memory, it freed up about 200+MB from program cache. Correct, the thumb view file (another 200+MB) from gallery reside at sd card will rebuild after delete.
Funny thing is wipe cache at CWM won't free up the internal memory.

I've noticed on ics that games and some apps leave folders on the usb storage. Gb used to remove them..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
For a specific case...
phone had installed the free version of AutomateIt.
Uninstalled it by: "clear cache", "clear data", force stop", and then "uninstall". Then rebooted phone.
A bit later searching the storage noticed a "AutomateIt" folder in Device Storage.
The AutomateIt folder contains a subfolder "Backups", which contains 3 files (all .AiR files). (two are 1kb, one is 0kb) .
Is it safe to manually delete these files and folders?
Are there any apps similar to SDmaid but for unrooted phones? (no root yet for Atrix HD, so not even an option)
Some apps leave behind files or folders no matter what you do. I just manually remove them using a file explorer.
This is my observation. Hope this helps.

Another good reason to do a full wipe prior to installing a new ROM!
I seem to be unable to open Gallery and an error message appears stating:
"Not enough space. Delete unnecessary items such as ......"
I've checked internal, external, system, data etc and still have some remaining space on each one.
Could the issue be with the location of the storage being corrupted? If so how can I fix it
(I've tried wiping everything through CWM, but that hasn't helped)
Gallery cache?
Is there enough space for it?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
try to unmount the external sd card and the open gallery
Thanks for your response
I've backed up both internal and external storage to my pc and then formatted the phone completely, reinstalled the ROM and the gallery is now working.
It seems therefore, that there was a corrupt file/s somewhere.
Any ideas how I go about locating this file, as I would like to get transfer my files back onto my phone.
Thanks
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
may be it was not a corrupted file issue. The flashing of rom again might have solved it. put the files back and it should work
I have exactly the same problem.
I get this every time I try to open the gallery, changing the wallpaper or anything else that's using the gallery. Non of those things work.
I am running RocketRom JB, flashed it according to the installation info (including the real format system, wipe dalvik/cache and all the other things)
To troubleshoot the problem I did:
Another flash of rocketrom without wipe
Backup and format the sd-card
Cleaned the Gallery cache
Rescanned the media storage
Remove the sd-card and start the gallery
Any ideas what else could help?
Of course I have plenty of space left (first thing I checked) it's > 1 GB on the system, > 9 GB internal Storage and 20 GB on the external.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Some people tend to use their phone as their life depends on it.. Carrying loads of important stuff there..
A phone its a device that's very exposed to damage and robbery etc.. It's not meant to be your life backup... Really I don't understand the behavior of some people... Just put some music... Some meaningful pictures.. Some movie, a couple of games... Configure your email account set the security in the lock screen and you are good to go..

Thanks for the hint, but size is not the problem, not even a single photo on an empty card works.
@msdek maybe you didn't understand the problem. What gave you the hint that I would like to "carry my life around with me"?
I have appr. 80 photos that I would like to view in the gallery plus the ones I take on the go. Which should be no problem. Which was no problem until I flashed Rocketrom. But the Gallery doesn't open, not even for one pic.

With wipe you mean delete or rename ?
i have heard previously, deleting odex might make your gallery app FC. pl confirm.

Hey everyone in this forum,
I have a friend who has a Galaxy Mini. And its had a few problems.
First off, its had problems with memory. Her phone doesn't recieve texts and emails (although I think emails is a syncing matter) because apparently there's no memory- she's told me it says "Message memory full- incoming message rejected" or along those lines.
Around this point she had ~23MB of internal storage remaining.
Also she kept getting the "Low memory" notification at that point.
Games like Flow force-closed on her often as well, making them unplayable. Which was strange because on my mum's Mini Flow ran fine.
Now she's deleted quite a few apps/cleared data and cache manually through Task Manager and the phone seems to be running fine again, but this (from having a Galaxy Apollo) I know is a recurring problem with low internal memory.
Also, copying files via SD adaptor and USB cable doesn't work either. Transferring files gives a "write-protected" message- is that the phone or are they just the files themselves?
I'm sorry if these have been asked before but its incredibly hard to search an individual forum on mobile.
If it helps:
Firmware: 2.3.6 GINGERBREAD.XXKL3
Model number: GT-S5570I
My friend has next to no idea about Android, and so please avoid suggesting custom roms/kernels and rooting, especially because the phone is still relatively new.
Also, if possible please suggest any solutions to any of the above that does not include factory resetting/wiping data.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Also try removing orphan data in titanium backup pro!!!!!while i suggest u root her/his mob by update.zip method which is very easy!!!!!dont flash any rom....and move all apps to sd card....try also clearing data of fb and skype app as dey take a lot of space....hope i helped

Hey, thanks for your help, but I don't really want to root her phone- its her phone and the warranty is still on it, plus this is her first smartphone so she's still a new user.
Would it be best to move all the apps she can (without root) to her SD card? Would that still solve the problem?

Hi, does anyone knows the name of the service or app that shows that annoying notification about storage usage and tells to transfer data to SD card?
I'm thinking about freezing it to stop the notifications...
I tried 2 ways to expand memory, link2sd and a tutorial to emulate SD card just like it was internal storage with a script command. None of them worked, both gave me bootloop in the end and I had to downgrade to fw. 434, wipe all my data, root again, install dual recovery, flash. 253 pre rooted rom again... Restore all my apps again... I would love to have more space available, but I'm really afraid to try again.
Does anyone manage to get Link2sd working on xperia Z. 253 rooted locked bootloader?
My last phone was an Xperia Arc. I had less than 512mb of free storage on the phone. I should be happy with 16GB, but I think Xperia Arc was better because at least I could transfer apps to SD and it was possible to use link2sd to link apps to SD card....
