Thread closed as it's a best ROM thread. OP please do not be lazy, what is the best ROM for one user may not be the best ROM for you due to differences in how you use the device. The only way to find the best ROM for you is to try some.

Hi all...
I'm really novice in this field so i need help from you guys ...
What is the best rom to choose to upgrade my galaxy s to android 2.3 ( Gingerbread)
and of course , can someone provide me with detailed instructions ?
Best Regards
I use all the time the last available ROM available on samfirmaware. I can say that is not the best way.
Have you tried CM7?
I dont want to be unpolite but: your question had been done dozen of times before.
If you go to development forum there is sticky with a list of main roms.

Just try this:
Topic -> Search ->Android Development GingerReal 7.1.4., best room btw.
JVQ is the latest f/w. Try stock JVQ or any of custom ROMs from development section.
hello every one iam just got my S I9000 ( not plus ) i want links for tutorials about how to root my phone and get the newest baseband and i want link for the best kernel and rom ( best rom in graphics/speed/games )
thanks in advance
First of all, there's no such thing as the best rom - it's like trying to compare apple and oranges and saying one's better than the other. I usually recommend people to start with stock-based roms (so no AOKP or cyanogen mods) simply because it's closer to the stock rom and usually to flash.
As for rooting your phone, if you are already planning to flash a new rom, there's not much point in rooting it now. All custom roms are rooted. If still want to learn to root (which might actually be a good starting point), you need to tell us what firmware you are currently on.
thx for replay and my firmware 2.2.1
and my baseband t959uvka7

thats not an i9000 thats a tmobile vibrant...
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm goood
Trying to flash a I9000 rom on a Vibrant will most likely brick the thing. Better to start looking in the Vibrant section instead. Good thing Paul spotted it.
his mob is tegra ?? he have the same mob like mine and i dunno where's my section !!! should i just search for any vibrant t-mobile section ??
Here u go m8

Yes, flash a gingerbread ROM and kernel. They're the best :good:
Or alternatively, try out each and every rom until you find your 'best' ROM I.e. one which you like best.
Is general section being converted to general+q&a section? Mods where are you can't you see these questions in general section..??

Due to the type of responses and likelihood of these kinds of threads to degenerate into bickering, "Best ROM" threads are generally not allowed. Everybody's situation is different and opinions will vary. Try them out for yourself and see what works for you.
Hello guys, sorry for making this kinda silly thread, because im really new on this phone.
What i wanna ask is..
1. Which baseband / firmware is better and compatible for flashing the custom rom on dev section,i dont really care about region as long it suits well, im on DXLXE from Indonesia
2. Which custom rom is better with very minimum bugs / zero bugs that came from Jellybean
3. My phone is just root with cwm now, my friend gave me the link for update including the CWM, is there any other thing for me to know before flashing into custom rom and kernel
Thank you before

Mod Edit
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.
