So due to the plan I'm under with T-Mobile (Pre-Paid Plus) they won't allow me to forward my voicemail to go to my Google Voice. Does anyone know if there's a "workaround" that?
Anyone who can help me hack this out I'll be forever in your debt.
Thanks guys!
To answer your question -
NO.
The end.
Just checking.. The Google Voice app dials the code to transfer voicemail to your gvoice numer on initial setup/settings, did that fail too?
Yeah that also failed. :\
Thanks Britoso

Right this is a common limitation of man providers with pre paid plans. To monitor and control minutes the forwarding for calls is locked into carrier voicemail and unable to be changed.
From first hand I have seen crickt, att, and t-mobile have this issue
If you want a different voicemail you will need to be on a full regular plan.
That makes sense, thanks M9.

Just bought Groove IP from the market on my xoom and confirmed I am able to make and receive calls using Google voice real simple set up procedure and it only cost 3.99 to get the app no other charges after here's the link to check it out
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gvoip
Or just type groove IP in the market
I think it'll only work in the US either way great app

Yes 2 things you can do
1) go to voice.google.com (desktop version) and change your phone settings to forward your calls to Google chat
2)make sure you are signed out of Google talk in your xoom
Either or both fixes mentioned above should allow you to receive calls with your gV number

Question. I am trying to receive calls from my Xoom via this app and I do not have the Google chat option available to me to forward to. The only thing I have is my mobile number, no other number/option. I remember I deleted Google chat from my phone list awhile back and cannot get it back on. How can I go about getting it back in my options so that I can forward my calls to it? I'm lost.

Just what I needed! Thanks very much!
I forgot that a simple call would bring it back. Cool!
Does anyone know how to verify and use??
Voice & sms enabled
google voice does not recognize current device's phone number
Does the tab phone number show in the "about" setting? Your sim card may not be correctly provisioned.
You can download but google voice as a service only works in USA Canada as far as I know.

My preference as an AT&T user is the original Visual Voicemail application over the AT&T messages app. The latter tries to combine all of your call lists, text messages, voicemails, etc in one. Some people rather retain control over their text messages. You can disable notifications, but I know at one point it would still semi interfere with other messaging applications.
Just in case you had your phone voicemail forwarding to another number, please view this video to reset it:

Idk about the spyware thing, but if its hanging at waiting for verification, you probably don't have vvm provisioned on your account. Make sure your data plan says something about having vvm.
Just use Google Voice. Visual voicemail that can be accessed on any device or PC.

Yeah I don't know about the whole spyware thing.
Anyways sometimes visual voicemail takes a little while to provision. Just a glitch in the matrix. Probably network load related.
Google voice for visual voice mail here, im also on att
Google Voice and Death Star Mobile here as well
You can't go wrong with Google Voice, especially if you live in Google-land. A minute ago I got a voicemail. A notification message with a full, mostly-accurate transcription of the voicemail went to my phone and Gmail. Gmail has native support and allows you to play the VM right from inside the email. Pretty convenient.

Everyone should use Google Voice. No MMS, but it's not 2006, so...
FYI, in order for call forwarding to work properly with GV on AT&T, you need to call AT&T and insist that they disable visual voicemail on your account. After all you don't need it.
After you do this, forwarding will work perfectly. Took me a week to figure this out.

I have a feeling that's what they are going to tell me hence why it won't work through the Play Store but have no idea how others here were able to get it to work unless something has changed. I'll post up here what I find out.
