So I unlocked the bootloader using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
Then I flashed Cyanogenmod. Thing is, it installs Superuser. But since I'm guessing that the phone is still not rooted, since I just unlocked the bootloader, does Superuser have any function atm?
Thanks in advance.
Cyanogenmod 7 is rooted already, as with most custom roms
so keep superuser

if the bootloader is unlocked and s-on you can flash roms and use all the functions of a rooted device but in after the flashing of the rom you have to manually push the rom's boot.img file found inside the rom using adb in fast boot
using command
fastboot flash boot boot.img

no need to touch superuser app
when ever you install a rom it will get automatically installed
hey guys,
I got my HTC ONE 2 months ago and unlocked bootloader,s-off and rooted it.. but it was kind of hard to s-off it and when i go to the hboot screen it shows that tempered flag but it unlocked and s-off.. I didn't think about it and i flashed new roms and was working perfectly!
Today I flashed the new skydragon room after performing a full wipe from twrp successfully but the supersu is showing su binary is out of date and i cannot update it, tried to install another superuser apps but nothing worked..
my question is what I have to do now to get it rooted back? and does this needs s-off??
please help me I am really getting crazy !!
lol, no, s-off isn't required.
you've to flash the supersu.zip by chainfire from recovery...

You must relock bootloader and flash original recovery.img
You can find both in this forum

I did it by flashing stock recovery. The bootloader can be unlocked.
I also removed the root binary(you have the option in super su - full unroot). Then I reflashed twrp.
Good luck.
Hi Guys I have been searching info for rooting HTC one M7 and version as title says.
Many Thanks
You didn`t bother to use the search field at all now, did you?
Get latest SuperSU flashable ZIP file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 and flash it in a custom recovery, like TWRP or CWM.
Option 1: use sunshine ($25) to s-off your device. It will unlock your bootloader as well. Then install a custom recovery, make a nandroid backup before rooting the device, then flash supersu. You're rooted.
Option 2: unlock bootloader through htcdev website, install custom recovery, flash supersu.

Thanks very much for the info. I dont mind spending $25 if thats the safest way. I have seen some posts on other forums guys are having trouble rooting this device and software version as i have.
Thanks again

You cannot go wrong with Sunshine. It does some compatibility test first to make sure it works on your device. If everything is fine then the payment prompt pops up. I also used it as firewater didn't work on my device and didn't regret it. $25 is a fair price towards the developers I think. :good:

The link to this file is what he meant ..you don't need s-off for root just custom recovery
http://download.chainfire.eu/641/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip

I updated my htc one m7 to 5.0.2 just couple days ago. My question now is that can i root my phone just regular way. I mean; first open bootloader with htcdev and then using twrp recovery. If so, what version of twrp i should use. I know that this question is maybe a noob question but i want to do this right.
Thanks for your responses!

What steps have you done on your device till now?
I suppose you have only unlocked the device (when you enter hboot you will see the text UNLOCKED if that is true), so next to do will be flash the recovery and then from the recovery flash the zip file with supersu and that's it, once you have supersu in place you are ready to run apps that need root privilegies.
